Nosedive: "This is so cool!" Buzz's cried out as he looked ahead of us, his eyes almost as wide as the brim of his glasses. "Let's have some fun, fellow ducks!" I declared as we stepped through the gates. I threw an arm around my sister, accidentally nearly strangling her as I pulled her into a side hug, "Honorary ducks too, of course!" While I did this, I rustled the human kid's hair to make sure he was included in this statement. "You know we have an aumsement park across the freeway at the pond, right?" Mallory questioned with a raised brow, "Did we really need to come all this way for a different one?" "From what Dive has told me, this one's supposed to have more of a spooky/thriller vibe to it?" Heart ventured. Indeed, the park certainly had a fair number of "haunted" walkways to venture through, as well as many rides named after horror movies and the like. Though there was a more ookey-spookey section for kiddies that were brought along. A few of the roller coasters even featured large monsters opening their massive maws to swallow the train of cars whole as they darted down the track to it. "Besides, it's nice to venture outside of Anaheim for fun sometimes!" I added, "And it gets our number uno fan out of the city for a day!" "Wait...isn't this the amusement park that one guy runs?" Heart pondered aloud, "The one that you mistakenly tied up with those mobsters for coming over to see the commotion Siege and them were causing?" "You mean from the time the others got arrested for crimes they didn't commit?! You told me all about that!" Buzz chimed in eagerly, "You three got to wear suits and take down some mob bosses, didn't you?" "Something like that," Grin humored him while patting the blonde kid's head. Mallory looked to me in puzzlement, before shaking her head, "Let me guess, this is your way of making it to him?" "Well, my statement still holds true regardless!" I shrugged the accusation off. "I'm surprised Wing and Tanya didn't come with us," Heart mentioned, "I thought you and our brother loved doing stuff like this together?" "He does." I insisted with a bit of a chuckle, "but Tanya really wanted to stay behind and work in the lab, and um...you know our bro and the buddy system." Heart looked to me a bit bewildered, but then something seemed to click as she said, "I see?" "They must be working on something top secret!" Buzz said, barely containing his enthusiasm. "Well, it's top secret alright!" Heart giggled while exchanging a knowing look with me now. "Duke didn't come along either, which is even stranger if you ask me?" Mallory raised a brow directed at my sister, who was still standing beside me. The burgundy haired humanoid had a touch of concern in her blue eyes when she replied, "I noticed he'd strained his leg a bit during last night's game, and asked him to rest it...I don't know how much he will, but he at least agreed to stay at the pond." "Okay, I'm even more surprised you're here then," Mallory commented. I rustled Heart's hair, "That was quite the trick in it of itself. I insisted my twin come along." "Duke also insisted I come and have some fun with you guys," Heart said in support, "Besides, I did promise Dive I'd be here." "So, where do we start then?" Grin inquired as he looked out from the front gates of the park, "There seems to be a number of attractions to visit?" "I didn't really have a plan. I just sorta figured something would catch our interest soon enough-Hey! Check it out!" I hurried over to an arcade sign, before peering inside to look at the assortment offered, "I don't know what to play first!" In seconds I'd pulled Heart along with me to one of the cabinets, begging her, "Come on, sis! It's been a long while since we've played a game!" "Okay, okay!" she laughed as I put our coins in. Grin and Mallory had followed us inside. Before long, our redheaded teammate ventured over to a ball throwing game. Grin accompanied her, with both of them getting a number of them in the center hole. They seemed to stick with more sports related games. Buzz, of course, trailed along beside Mallory, but with much more tact then a year ago. He would eventually begin playing a space invaders game on one of the cabinets near Heart and myself, but still kept an eye on his hero. Heart, at one point, would look over at one of the bike racer games and shake her head, "Hard to see the thrill when you're used to real thing." "You could say the same thing about our fighting these monsters in this beat 'em up," I shrugged, "but this is still fun to me." "Fair enough," she replied, "Though I would argue that there's a charm to this. It's fun to team up with my bro, even for a pretend battle-." "Look out! He's got a chainsaw!" I blurted out while tackling the pixellated foe charging her character. "Thanks Dive!" Heart said while firing at the zombies now trying to swarm my fighter, After a little while of this, we ventured out into the bright, broad daylight of mid summer. Our ventures would take us on a number of racing roller coasters, several rigged games conquered, and delicious carnival foods partaken in. We were currently enjoying some soft served ice cream as we walked along the gift shop section of the park. "Does this suit you better?" I nudged Mallory. Grin and Heart were walking along behind us, still enjoying their swirled cones. Vanilla for the former, and a swirl of strawberry and chocolate for the latter. Buzz had picked out a rocket shaped popcicle with various colors running up and down it. I was nursing what was left of my own chocolate treat, having picked one on a stick instead. Mallory was sipping her shake from the silly straw that had been provided, and paused when she looked into one of the displays. "These are kinda cute," she admitted while tilting her head a bit. "Yeah?" I mused while stopping beside her, and looking up at the croptop and skirts being displayed. "You want one, girly-girl?" I asked. Mallory looked to me with bewilderment in her widened eyes, "What did you do?" "Nothing!" I insisted, "I just thought you wanted the thing you were looking at, sheesh!" "Really? No pranks to expect when we get home?" "Well, I can't make that promise!" I laughed, "But I'd still don't mind getting that for you!" "This is...really unexpected, Dive? Are you feeling okay?" "Is it really that weird?" I questioned, "I'm a pretty nice drake, aren't I Grinster? Buzz? Sis?" "It's not that," Mallory said, giving me some assurance back, but added, "This just threw me off a bit, I guess?" "Come on, let's find the one you like so we can get back to the rides!" I said while pushing her inside the shop, "Buzz, you coming too?" "That sounds more like you!" Mallory laughed. "Yeah, yeah, yeah!" I half mocked. Heart: While Mallory, Buzz, and my older twin headed inside the shop, I decided to hang back with Grin. I was still taking my time with my ice cream, swaying my head to the music playing from the overhead speakers dotted around the park, when my much taller friend mused, "How things change when you least expect it." "That's good for some things," I agreed, appreciating the comment in regards to Nosedive and Mallory. "Some changes may not seem so good at first, as we've witnessed together upon coming here in the first place," he replied, "However, as I recall with the changes you're referring to, they have been very helpful, have they not?" "Duke's been very optimistic about it too," I mentioned. "I just don't want so much to change too fast. Used to it or not, I appreciate it when things are steady more and more right now," I added while watching our teammates through the front window. Grin gave a light chuckle, "There's still plenty of that, my friend." As if to give an example, Nosedive was holding up a toy hatchet and chasing Mallory in an attempt to poke her with it. She would shake her head, until she grabbed the replica by the base and pulled it free to then throw at him as he darted away from her. It caught him just above his tailbone, and he feigned having a wound to limp away with. Though the both of them were still laughing. When they returned, Mallory was wearing the violet skirt Dive had just bought her, along with a white crop top she'd found to go with it. "You look awesome, Mallory!" Buzz exclaimed as he came out behind her. "What about you sis?" Nosedive ventured. I shook my head, rather content in my soft pink t-shirt, burgundy hooded vest, and black shorts. My hair had been pulled up with Tanya's help into a high based ponytail, using a scarf that matched my shirt. On my wrist was my gear bracelet that Nosedive had given me, and around my neck was a silver chain with an asortment of hearts along it. Included was one heart with a lock within it, and beside it a tiny key to fit inside of it. Nosedive was in his usual street attire, as was Grin. Buzz was quite proudly wearing his cutsom jersey and his favorite pair of shorts to go with it. In the last year he'd grown a bit taller. His voice remained the same in pitch, but would crack from time to time when he was excited. "Before you know it, you'll be old enough to drive a duck-cycle on your own!" Mallory teased. "Really?!" the kid, all but, gasped. "We'll see," Mallory humored him, rustling his hair a bit herself, "For now, let's settle for riding a coaster together?" "That sounds great to me Mallory!" This would bring us to a water gun game where one hits a target to make their car race up to the top. "What do you say, Dive? Want to see who's the better shot?" Mallory nudged him. "You're on girly-girl!" Nosedive laughed, "Loser has to attend Phil's next public appearance no matter what!" Grin and I stepped back a bit. "You're on!" Mallory smirked. It was quite the race actually, with both taking quick, but careful, aim. Their cars sped up their paths, both not pausing for a moment. This would get the attention of the game runner, causing his jaw to drop a bit as he watched closely. The bell rang as both cars hit the top, both sounding instantly as the human exclaimed, "I've never seen that happen!" "Not bad Mal," Nosedive offered a hand to shake. "How do we determine this?" she asked him. "Grin and Heart get to go," my twin shrugged casually. "What?" I questioned in confusion. "We weren't in the race at all?" Grin pointed out. "Exactly, so you both get to deal with the Phil-Mister's next scheme!" Nosedive declared. "Sounds fair to me!" Mallory teased. "I'm not sure that's how that works?" I retorted to little avail. Then she turned to Buzz, "You wanna try Buzz? Let's see how you do! I'll go easy on ya!" Buzz gave an eager smile as he stepped up to the squirt guns. After making his pick, the race was on. This time we would hear him declare quite proudly, "I won!" With their prizes in hand, we then continued on through the park for a while, finding other games to play. Several hours went by, and the sun was just hinting at thinking of setting for the summer evening to begin. "Alright, now the real fun starts! Thrash and Mookie told me this place is amazing at night! It's like a Halloween event, but for summer time!" Nosedive informed us as the hanging decorative lights began to kick on. For a moment, I thought I'd seen a few flicker on a particular strand; but then realized it was probably due to the atmosphere wanted. Nothing said horror movie like ill working equipment. "So this is what you meant by haunted amusement park?" Buzz asked Nosedive as we headed towards what was to be a spooky trail in the woods. "Maybe?" Nosedive teased with a wide grin on his beak, "Or maybe it's to cover up some strange happenings here?" "Like what?" Grin humored him. "I've been told that the lights going on and off aren't programmed. There's talk of ghosts appearing on photos taken, ghosts that supposedly aren't the staff dressed up to match the park, but they appear as blurred fading lights beside them, and rides coming to a complete stop right in the middle of a run!" he said in an over the top voice drenched in the tone of a late night horror movie on cable. "That's unsettling!" Buzz exclaimed with a shudder running up his spine. I raised a brow, "Yeah?" "Luckily no one's been badly hurt, but a number of people have encountered these weird occurances. The owner decided to just go full in with the theme to possibly mask these strange happenings, to act as though it's all part of the show!" Nosedive continued, raising up his hands like they were claws to begin looming over Mallory and myself. "Dive, the Chameleon is scarier than you are right now," Mallory couldn't help but give a jab. "You don't believe me, do you?" Nosedive questioned while folding his arms over his chest, pouting a bit. "Well...it could be something they're making up for publicity?" Buzz chimed in, clearing his throat a bit, "No press is bad press, as they say?" "I guess we'll just have to wait and see for ourselves?" Grin humored Dive a little bit, "Who knows what souls we made encounter on our path? Living or otherwise?" "Grin, don't encourage him," Mallory said while shaking her head. Grin couldn't help but give a bit of a chuckle. With that we headed down the long, lonely path that started from the center of the park. Overhead of the start was a seemingly abandoned gate, with rusted letters reading, "The Unmarked Street!" On it's posts were a number of signs giving their warnings to turn back or run for our lives. As we passed under it, the lights on the other side began to flicker. "Not part of the show huh?" Mallory teased Dive with a nudge. "Don't ruin the fun of it!" Dive insisted while taking her by the hand, "Come on, girly-girl!" We then began our journey along the winding street. The further we went in, the quieter it got. The only sound to trickle over to us were our own steps. It seemed this attraction was done with small groups, probably to maintain suspense. Then again, it was difficult to feel much unease with Grin walking beside me. Dive, Mallory, and Buzz were taking the lead for us. We were about half way through the overgrown path, with tree branches reaching well passed the gates of the park, and unkept grass and shrubbery trying to cover the turns in the cobblestone. Remaining quiet, as though waiting to see if there was anything to notice, I began to look around passed the placed barriers of the walkway. Buzz had begun asking the two questions. I wondered if he were a bit nervous as it stayed fairly silent. "Did you see that?" Nosedive asked. "That's not funny, Nosedive!" Mallory said sharply. Nosedive: "I'm not joking!" I insisted while pointing through a few thickly grown trees, "There's something there!" I turned to Heart, "Can you get a picture?" She quickly pulled out the camera we'd given her a while back, and snapped a shot. Once it popped out of the device, we gathered around to see the results. As it dried, we looked in wonder and a bit of unease as a faded light could be seen between the trees in the photo. At first it seemed to be just that, a strange light. However, as the photo developed a little more, we began to make something out. "Is that a face?" Buzz exclaimed. Sure enough, there was a jagged mouth on a very narrowed gace, it's eyes set in a focused grimace. Or more so, the sockets where eyes should have been! I looked to Mallory, "See?!" "It's probably some effect to make the walk more thrilling Dive. We are in a horror themed park," the redhead pointed out. "I'm telling ya, this stuff isn't a part of the path-!" Suddenly, a snickering from behind caught our attention. We whirled around on our heels as another flash of light came and went, darting down the path. It's high pitched laughter went with it, and yet lingered in the air at the same time. "What was that?!" Mallory exclaimed. "I don't know, but it made our hair stand on end!" Buzz mentioned nervously while trying to smooth out the blonde strands on his head. While briefly adjusting our hair, we followed after the fading light. This brought us quickly to the other end of the path, and a blanket of ebony that was now cast over the park. Crowds and crowds of humans were gathering, looking around in bewilderment, and giving gasps of alarm. Occasionally a sigh or room of a building would light up, but then quickly give out again. "It-It's just a part of the show isn't it?" Buzz questioned. As if on cue, the lights all burst on at once. Rides continued with their tracks, and employees of the park assured us that this was quite normal for them. Some even laughed it off as lights continued to flicker on and off in some places. "See, Buzz? Everything's fine!" Mallory assured while patting his shoulder. "Shall we go on a ride then?" Grin suggested, "It might be better to try a different sort of thrill to rest our nerves?" I noticed he was glancing at Heart, who had grown a little pale. Giving a smile, I threw my arm around her shoulders, "You okay?" "Y-Yeah, I guess I was just preparing for a fight for some reason," she tried to laugh it off. "Aw, it's okay girly-girl!" I insisted. "We're so used to such scenarios, that this sort of response would make sense," Grin nodded along. "At ease, Heart," Mallory teased lightly. Heart gave a bit of a smirk, "Us? At ease?" "Come on guys, this coaster looks awesome!" Buzz pulled us along now, showing us the ride he'd found. "What's special about this one?" Mallory inquired. "They make it look like the cars might collide at a certain point, running two at the same time, but there's a hidden real track for both!" the teen explained. "That's something alright?" the redhead pondered with a hand on her hip, "I take it you want to ride it?" "Will you go with me Mallory?" he asked eagerly. "Sure, why not?" she smiled, "Let's go!" As we went to through the line, I would catch Heart looking about the area, as though attempting to spot what we'd seen before. "You see something?" I asked. She shook her head, "Not yet." "It probably is just a hoax like Mallory was saying..." I shrugged with a bit of a sigh, "They would have evacuated the park if it was out of the ordinary." "I guess that makes sense," she gave in a bit and began following me. Heart: Though as we continued through the line, nearing the cars, I would catch the lights in the park flickering here and there. Occasionally a gift shop's power would go out and then burst back on. Yet the odd face from before never popped back up. I was now hopping in the coaster car beside my twin. Mallory and Buzz were seated in front, and Grin at the back. The lights overhead at the loading dock flickered off and on briefly, setting the tone for a run through a twisted track. It were set as though things were about to go wrong, speaking of ghost drivers gone mad and taking over the cars, causing them to nearly careen into one another. The longer we took in the atmosphere of this park, the more we began to realize it really was just themeing. With our harnesses secure, and our car creeping up to the main track, we were off! Behind us, we heard the other car doing the same on it's track. Our coaster raced along the track, gaining speed and momentum with every moment. We could also see the other car hurrying along it's rails. It was then that I heard a snickering nearby. "That's not funny, Dive!" I said as we took another turn. "That wasn't me!" he insisted as we both seemed to hear it now. The weirdly pitched laughter continued as we gained more speed, the car almost losing control along it's track. "What in the-?!" Mallory exclaimed as we were jerked rather abruptly. "Is this part of the ride?" Buzz asked nervously while trying to look around. As if to answer, a burst of light rushed passed our coaster, the static of it threatening to zap us as it sparked. In this we would hear through the sickening chuckle, "It's pay back time!" Looking ahead, we would see how the track was meant to veer off as Buzz had said. However, the car's wheels continued to loose contact with it's track as it was pushed even faster along. The car across from us was doing the same. In fact even more so, as the car was then eneveloped in a bright yellow glow. "It-It can't be!" Dive and I exclaimed. "Was that?" Mallory questioned. "We need to stop the car!" Nosedive ordered. "How can we do that?!" Mallory questioned, "We're latched in on a racing cart!" "Well, there's something we can try!" Dive mentioned quickly while turning to me, "Sis, can you cut the power on it?" "What?!" I exclaimed in confusion. "You're magic! If you can power things up, maybe you can shut them down!" he said. "Dive, I don't know how this works!" I said. "We have to try something, sis!" Nosedive pushed, "Or we're going to crash into those people!" Behind me, I could see Grin attempting to reach over the side of his car, attempting to use brute strength to slow the cart. However, a burst of energy would zap at his hand, causing him to retract this try. "Sis!" Nosedive yelled, pulling my attention back to the car just a few feet away from us. Taking the deepest breath I could in the seconds alotted to me, I tried to focus on the track and wheels. My hands grew chilled as I grasped at the side of the cart, and I would begin to feel the electricity being pulled into them. After a moment or two, the cars began to slow down, the wheels resisting movement. With a loud screech, and plenty of screaming from the humans on both coasters, they both came to a sudden halt just as they came off the real track. The two just about touched as they stopped. We would hear over the intercom of the ride for us to stay in our seats from the docking area. Help was said to be on the way to escort us down. "We don't have time to wait!" Mallory growled in alarm as we watched the gremlin hop away onto another ride. "What do we do?" Buzz asked. "We need to stop that thing and find out what's really going on here!" Nosedive replied. "Well, we have to think fast then!" Grin pointed out as the little electricity monster began to charge up at the docking station, as though drinking from the fuse box. As he did this, we watched as he grew bigger and bigger. It gained some bulk in it's limbs, but maintained the agility it needed to now begin hopping around the park. "It must have gotten loose from the Raptor," Mallory noted. "So how do we stop it then? We don't have an energy magnet to-" "What about Heart?" Buzz chimed in. "Heart's not a battery kid!" Nosedive commented. "No, but she could probably attract it with her magic!" Mallory realized. "Exactly! Then maybe we could ambush it somehow!" Buzz exclaimed, "Maybe at the water gun game?" Nosedive snapped his fingers, "We could short circuit it!" "First we need to get down," Grin pointed out as he began to pry his harness away from him. With hardly much effort, the bar popped loose from Grin's grip. Then he stood and helped my twin and I get ours off. "We need to get these people to safety first," I mentioned. "Well, we could get the cars back on the track, but the power's cut off still isn't it?" Mallory pondered. Grin was busy placing the cart back on it's railroad, making sure the wheels connected with the grooves it needed to stay balanced. "Heart, can you use the track to get down to the power box and inform Jenkins of the trouble? We need the park evacuated to avoid any collateral damage," Mallory suggested. "We'll stay with the cars to get them on track and then make sure they are pulled to safety," Grin mentioned. "What exactly am I supposed to do to get down...there...with the track...?" it began to click as I hopped onto the side of the mainenance line. "We have to hurry!" Nosedive insisted. While they went to work on the other cart, keeping the people calm as they fixed the wheels and track; I took another breath and began to let that energy flow through me. It ran down to my feet as they stepped onto the railroad of the ride. With that electricity acting like a constant current, I began to move as though I were wearing skates. The momentum and power worked together as I dashed along the track, almost not believing I was able to do this at all! Yet there wasn't much time to appreciate this new found ability as I caught sight of the gremlin on the move. He was about half my size now, and charged up with electricity to play with. Hopping off the track when I reached the bottom, I hurried over to a very confused owner as he tried to reach the cars stuck on the rail still. "What's going on?!" he questioned in alarm, "This isn't part of the act!" "We need to get them down, and then you have to evacuate the park! Cut the power though, we'll need it shut down to draw it in!" I explained while hurrying over to the control panel. Seeing it was still off, I quickly put together what I needed to do. Taking hold of it, I sent a bit of energy coursing back into the system, kicking it on and pulling the levers after recieving the okay from my twin over my comm. A breath of relief escaped my lips as they were all brought to the loading dock safe and sound. "Alright, Jenkins, get the people out of here! Buzz, go with him!" Mallory ordered. "No way! I can help! Please!" Buzz insisted. "He's safer with us," Nosedive pointed out, "Either way we need to hurry!" "I'll evacuate the park, but you better have a good explanation for this!" the scruffy owner grumbled, but we saw the relief in his eyes that no one had been hurt. "Got it!" Nosedive assured with a thumb's up. With that we hurried over to the water gun game that had already been emptied out of contestants and runner. In fact, most people had already cleared from the park after the coaster incidenet had been confirmed to be true. This allowed Nosedive to hop behind the booth and get the water guns up and running. Grin helped check to make sure they were all full as we each took one to aim. The park was nearly black with the lights all cut off, and it being a new moon that night. "That helps," Nosedive said while looking to me, "Ready to turn the power on sis?" "Can't that thing turn on anything it wants?" Mallory reminded us. "That's why we need to give it a strong signal!" Grin mentioned. "Heart, try to charge up your energy. If you can get it's attention by powering up the strip, it'll have to come running!" Buzz encouraged. "Guys...I'm still not really used to this..." I said rather hesitantly, realizing I was getting a bit fatigued by all of this. "Just give it a try, sis. We believe in you. Once it's here, we can take on the rest. If it doesn't work, then we'll think of another plan," Nosedive assured with a hand on my shoulder, "I know you can do this!" After taking another breath, I gave a nod and said, "Al-Alright...I'll give it a shot!" With this, I began to focus, allowing more energy to course out from me. I could feel my very blood tingling as though static were embedded in it's stream. As another deep breath escaped my lungs, the lights began to flicker back on around us. Not the whole park, but the strip we were on burst with sound and illumination. "Woo-hoo! You did it! Now let's get ready!" Nosedive cheered. Like clock work, the gremlin could be heard snickering, doing so louder and louder as it drew nearer. We ducked down behind the booth to not alert it to our presence. I didn't dare stop focusing on the given task before me, making sure the power didn't cut off to scare it away. Sure enough, it began sniffing about the street of games. It sounded eager to partake in another meal, hopping behind the booth next to us. "We need to draw it this way!" Mallory hissed, "If it just laps up the power from every other booth, we won't have enough water to short it out!" "I'll draw it over!" Buzz offered, "It doesn't know me from any other human!" Mallory seemed to want to argue this, but realized, "You're right...but please be careful. Just call it over this way, and we'll fire!" "Got it!" Buzz insisted as he hurried over the booth and over to it's neighbor. As soon as he saw it creeping over to the fuse box, Buzz hollered to it, "Hey, you shorted out gremlin! I'm going to stop you before you drain another drop of electricity!" We could hear the monster snickering, "Heh heh...shorted out huh?...We'll see...!" With the smell of ozone bursting into the air, it hopped over to give a rather quick chase after Buzz. The teen was already turning and running back over to us. With the static filled beast at his heels, the young human yelled out, "Now guys!" Upon command we began to fire. Four streams of water shot out at once, hitting the gremlin as it neared the center of their collective path. It sizzled and snarled in sudden alarm, it's cackling drowning out when water shot down it's throat. In these desperate moments he tried to hop away, but we gave him little chance until the water began to run out. Then it sneered at me and began to chortle once more. Before I could jump back, it leapt at me. "Sis!" Nosedive exclaimed as he managed to yank me back from it. "What is it doing?!" Mallory questioned as it jumped at me again. This time Nosedive hopped with me out of the booth, "I don't know! Doesn't it usually take over devices and machines? Why is it just attacking?!" "It's time...to take charge!" it snickered while hopping onto the roof of the game tent. "Keep Heart away from it! I think it's trying to take command of the electricity she has!" Buzz cried out with widened eyes. "Can it do that?" Mallory asked in bewilderment. "I'd rather not find out!" Nosedive yelled as he pulled me along into a run, just as the gremlin leapt down towards us. "We need to find a bigger source of water!" Mallory called after us as they followed. "What if we overpowered it instead?" Grin suggested as he caught up beside Dive. Buzz was running alongside Mallory when he chimed in, "That's a good idea actually! Electricity can overcharge itself, causing a surge before knocking itself out!" "How do we do that?! We had them cut the power!" Mallory pointed out. "That's it!" Nosedive snapped his fingers, "We'll bring it to the main power box and set it on. All that power coursing through it has to overdo it!" He looked to me, "We need you to give just a bit more, okay?" I nodded, forcing through the trembling I felt trying to take over, "Let's do this!" So we ran. With the gremlin tailing us, it wasn't hard to lure it near the control panel. We darted into the room, with me making short work of the lock in the seconds we had, slipping the lockpick back into my inner vest pocket, "Never leave home without a way in or out of somewhere!" I couldn't help but give a chuckle at my own given advice. Mallory rolled her eyes as she teased, "Alright L'Orange, we'll be sure to tell him that." She knew I needed the jumpstart in a way as we hurried in. We quickly found the panel, and I waited beside it as Nosedive guarded the switch. Sure enough, it came bounding into the room. As soon as it saw me, it began leaping over to try and take control still. I steadied my shaky legs, taking a quick breath as I did. "Now!" Nosedive ordered as the gremlin made one more leap. With that, I jumped away just as my twin pulled that switch. Unable to stop it's momentum, the gremlin jumped into the powerbox just as it powered up. With a screech, it tried to leap back out of the device, changing it's projectory to find me in one more attempt. Turning on my heel, I focused the electricity in me to course it back to the device, cutting off it's attempt at a source and shoving it back into the box. In that instant it's scream flooded our ears as all the energy in the park coursed through it, pulling it apart. After several deafening moments of this, the box itself would give off several sparks and even some smoke. Then it went quiet inside the control room, the only sound trickling in was the carnival music playing on the speakers throughout the park. "We...we did it!" I realized with relief washing over me. Mallory hurried over as I stumbled to the side a bit, swiftly sweeping an arm under mine to catch me. "That was quick thinking guys!" Nosedive laughed while rustling Buzz's hair a bit, "You too kid!" "That was so awesome! Monsters! Rescues! New powers! Even a last second plan winning in the most dire of moments! This was the best amusement park visit ever!" Buzz exclaimed, "I can't wait until the next adventure!" I managed a tired laugh, "Glad you...had fun...?" "You okay there, sis?" Nosedive asked. "Yeah...just a bit tired...this is all still very new..." I replied. "I guess we should head back to the pond then?" Mallory suggested. "Well...we could...but there is something I'd like to do first?" Nosedive pondered aloud, a hand to the chin of his beak. "What's that?" Buzz asked. "Well...we have a whole park to ourselves. It would be a waste to not try just one ride, just the group of us?" Nosedive mused. I couldn't help but give a smirk, "I think I have a bit left in me for that, bro." With that we were off, enjoying another job well done, and getting a bit of a treat just this once at the end of it. We knew we'd get an earful for this once we got home. Yet no matter what, as long as we got through it, repeated adventures or new ones, it sure felt worth it in the end!
