-Reflection Beach-
I came to yet again with water soaking my fur. I opened my eyes to see that I was on a beach and it was sometime in the middle of the day, with the sun high in the sky, and no clouds in sight. I was also alone.
And I'm glad I am, after that whole thing.
It took me a second to remember what happened. Then it came all rushing back to me, and I was suddenly tired again after remembering the whole… incident was the best word for it.
I hated that. A lot. Now, where the hell am I?
I sat up on the beach, and for a moment, I thought the whole beach was glowing. Then my eyes properly registered what was happening, and I realized the beach was actually reflecting the light from the sun. I squinted to stop myself from being blinded, and looked around. There was a rather sheer cliff wall behind me, made up of something that looked like glass.
Probably whatever the beach is made up of as well, given the looks of it.
As I looked along the cliff, I saw a path that went inland, which cut straight through the cliff. I stood up, and shook off all the water, but there were still some clumps of wet sand still stuck on me, which for some reason didn't bother me, but that wasn't my biggest problem. I wandered toward the path, and I realized that it had been carved. It looked like a simple staircase, but it seemed pretty deliberately made like that.
Most likely the Pokémon who made this realized that making it ornate wouldn't work out well, as who would really care? Not really anyone in particular.
I walked up the steps, leaving bits of wet sand all over the place. When I reached the top, there was an actual worn path that I could see, and I could see all sorts of prints in the dirt.
Oh, there's a sign there!
There was a long straight tree branch stuck in the ground with two pieces of wood stuck onto it. I wandered up to it.
"Reflection beach." I said, looking at the top piece. I then noticed there was an arrow carved into it as well, pointing to the stairs I had just walked up.
"Well, that's only logical. And the other… Does that say… Snowcrest town?"
Snowcrest. That's an odd name, given that there isn't any snow or anything like that nearby. Maybe it's just farther down the road.
And so, I was off.
As soon as I was on the road I couldn't stop thinking about what had happened.
How did I end up on the beach? Something made it so I ended up there. What happened? I couldn't have fallen straight out of the sky.
I smacked myself in the face with my paw.
I DID fall out of the sky. It had to do with the… oh that place. What was that place? Where even is it anyway? And what the hell was that… thing?
I sighed, knowing that that train of thought was going nowhere.
Well, when am I going to see another Pokémon?
I then found myself in the dirt.
"Watch where you're going!"
I turned around and it took me a second to realize I ironically had my question answered at the exact moment I asked it. I was now looking at an irritated Riolu.
"Sorry. I wasn't paying attention. I was lost in thought. Just have a lot to think about right now."
"Like what?" the hostile Riolu replied.
"Well, how I got to wherever I am right now." I replied.
"You really don't know where you are?" Said the Riolu, which based off of voice, that this Riolu was a she.
"Not really. All I know is that I fell out of the sky, landed on Reflection Beach, was there for a while, and eventually figured out how to leave, and ended up on this path, talking to you."
She paused.
"You sound delusional, but also sane at the same time."
"Honestly, at this point, being delusional would be preferable."
She paused again.
"Is there anything else to your story that I should know about?"
"Only a bit more that would only make me sound even crazier."
She paused, seemed to weigh her decisions about the situation, and sighed.
"What's your name?"
"It's-"
I paused.
What's my name?
"Ren." I said
Where did that come from?
My mind offered no answers.
My imagination? Memories? Actually, scratch that out, that isn't it, I don't have any of th-
"Are you okay?"
The voice brought me back to reality abruptly.
"I don't know." I replied.
"Clearly. Also, since you didn't hear me say it, my name is Sheena. And since you clearly need some help right now, why don't you come with me back to Snowcrest?"
"Sure, it's where I was going anyways."
"Good. Now, I need you to tell me that last bit about what happened."
"Okay, so let me get this straight, so you found yourself in a big strange room with two windows and two pairs of doors."
"Yes."
"The windows looked out into what looked like what you call space."
"Space or the sky at night, either works."
"And you heard a random voice telling you to choose… someone?"
"Yeah."
"And you went to one side to investigate the doors on that side, and the others started shaking and screaming?"
"Whatever was on the other side was, but yes."
"And the voice asked you if that was your choice, you said yes, and the screaming and shaking from the other side got worse?"
"Yes."
"Then the doors opened, a voice recommended you go through, so you went through, and the other pair of doors burst open, letting out… essence is what you say?"
"Mhmmm."
"And it chased after you, you ran away from it, and you saw a light at the end of the hallway, jumped into it, and then fell through it into… whatever it was, made of light, and the voice said you made a good choice, and then you landed on the beach and passed out?"
"Yep."
Sheena gave me a look.
"Had I heard this from any other Pokémon, I would have laughed at them if they told me this happened to them, but from you…"
She paused and looked at me again.
"You're not kidding at all, and I can tell."
"Why would I?"
"You wouldn't, others would do that to get attention and other things. The reason why I know you wouldn't is because I had no awareness that you existed until today."
"Yep. There really wouldn't be any reason at all other than me being serious."
Sheena sighed.
"Anyways, we're here."
I looked up for the first time in a while, and saw the whole town.
"Welcome to Snowcrest, my home and home of many others. Now, come with me, I need to talk to my dad."
Okay, so first chapter. Now unfortunately, I might just end up making chapters rather short, but don't think that's how its going to be. I'm actually probably just going to work on this story occasionally, and probably write a chapter each time. That just might be how this story goes. Good news for that, that means it's more likely going to be updated pretty often. Either that, or I'll update it at least once on Sundays. I need to figure out a schedule. If I do start making it Sundays only, I might have it so I release multiple chapters. depends. I might try to keep a backlog of chapters, I don't know. Also, please do leave a review, as I really want to know what everyone here thinks of it. Also, please make sure it is relevant to this story. If you'd like to talk to me about my story, go PM me and I might send you a discord link to a server that is meant for discussing this story and other fanfic related stuff and whatnot. That's about it for now.
