I do not own these characters. All used people are J.K. Rowling's property.
The next few weeks have been hard for me. Ginny was looking after me almost every day since I've had my panic attack. Whenever I see Fred in the hallways, I catch him looking at me with his face looking like he thinks that I am a psycho. I know that something is wrong with me, but I don't want the people around me noticing.
This day, it was the 12th of December, Dumbledore had something important to tell us.
"Listen students, I have an announcement to make, I'd like to tell you that this year, Hogwarts throws the first winter-ball in history." Dumbledore said.
The students were cheering and shouting.
"So, I guess we better find ourselves dates for the ball so we can forget the cheating bastard over there." Ginny said to me with a smile.
"Gins, you can't talk about your brother like that." I responded
"I can talk about him like I want, he cheated on you. Even if he is my brother, I still hate what he did." Ginny said. "So, are you in?"
I looked over to Ginny, smiled, and said: "If you want that, then I am in."
She smiled at me took my hand and showed me some guys.
"What do you think about him, you should ask him to go to the ball with you." Ginny said and pointed over to a guy sitting on the Hufflepuff table. His name: Cedric Diggory. He plays for the Hufflepuff Quidditch-Team as a seeker.
"You really want me to ask Cedric?" I asked her, my smile fading a little.
"Yeah, why not. I am pretty sure that he would be the perfect gentleman." Ginny said smiling.
To be honest, I was a little disappointed that she seemed so sure about searching a date for me. But why is that? I don't know why it felt so wrong going to the ball with someone.
"Yeah, I guess I ask him then." I responded
So, I stood up, walked over to the Hufflepuff table and tapped onto Cedric's shoulder. He turned around and looked at me. He had given me this sweet smile.
"Hi Cedric, I don't know if you know who I am…" – "Selina Black, isn't it?" Cedric interrupted. – "Oh, you know who I am I guess" I blushed "I wanted to ask if you might want to go to the…" – "Yeah I would love to go to the ball with you." He interrupted again.
"Great, I guess we'll meet there?" I asked.
"That's perfect. See you then, Selina" Cedric said.
As I walked away, I could hear his friends cheering at him, what made me slightly smile.
"And?" Ginny asked.
"He said yes." I told her.
"Aww, that's cute." Ginny responded, but she seemed a little off now. She tried to smile at me, but I could see that there was something wrong with her.
"You want to go for a walk?" I asked her, because I knew that she needed this.
She nodded.
We walked through the castle and walked out the door to the outside. We didn't talk, I just let her know that I was there.
After a while, I looked at her and asked: "Gin, do you want to talk about what's on your mind?"
"Selina, I wish I could but I can't talk to you about that."
"Ginerva Molly Weasley, I am your best friend and you can talk to me about everything." I said.
"No, I can't" Ginny said.
Then it suddenly hit me. What if she was acting like that because she was still scared of me. What if my panic attack caused this?
"Gin, is this about what happened to me some weeks ago?" I asked slowly.
She turned around and looked me right in the eye. "So, you mean you lied to me and it was something more than just a panic attack, wasn't it?" Ginny said.
"Oh Gin, come on, you know that I just don't want to talk about that." I said.
"I know. But no, it isn't about that. But if you are ready to talk about that, I am always here to listen to you." The redhead spoke.
"Then what is it?" I asked.
"Selina, I can't" she answered.
"Just tell me." I consisted.
I couldn't even react as I felt the warm lips of Ginny Weasley on my own.
She suddenly backed up and looked into my eyes with shock.
"I- I am so sorry." Ginny said, embarrassed.
I didn't even say one thing. I just looked into Ginny's eyes. Still felt a little paralyzed about what happened. We just looked into each other's eyes and didn't say a word. Then it hit me. I realized what the reason had been that I couldn't say "I love you" to Fred. I understood now. It was Ginny. It had always been Ginny. I was in love with her, even if I thought that I was in love with Fred. I am pretty sure, that I felt something for Fred, but I loved Ginny more, I just wasn't aware of it back then.
Ginny's face was totally red now. She was really, really embarrassed. I could say by the look in her face that she was also scared. She wanted to turn around and walk away as I grabbed her wrist. Ginny looked at my hand grabbing her wrist and then looked up into my eyes, still red.
I pulled her near to me and now our noses were almost touching. Our eyes were staring in the other ones. That's when I reacted out of impulse. I kissed her. Her lips had this sweet taste of sweet peach and summer. That was a taste which I never wanted to lose. We were laying down in the grass, under a big tree and we didn't stop kissing. My hands were on both sides of her faces and hers were around my neck. After some minutes, both of us were out of breath, we stopped kissing and just looked at each other.
"You feel like I do?" Ginny asked.
"I do." I responded.
"Why didn't you tell me…" She asked.
"I didn't know that I did until you kissed me." I said.
"I've had a crush on you for years, Selina. How come you never noticed? I mean, no wonder I was so pissed when you started dating that douche of brother I have." Ginny said.
"I guess I just thought, it wasn't possible for someone to love me." I said, looking away.
"Selina… someday we have to talk about it." She said.
"I know. But I just want to enjoy this moment with you." I said.
We walked back to the castle, hand in hand, not sure about what we were now. We only were sure about one thing; we don't want anybody to know just now. Ginny and I decided it would be for the best, if I would still go to the ball with Cedric, that way, no one would find out about us. Hogwarts may be a safe place, but if you are just a little different, it can be really bad there. And with my history, daughter of Remus Lupin, a werewolf, and daughter of Sirius Black, a murderer (He's not really one, but the whole wizarding world thinks so, because Peter Pettigrew played death for years). As we walked into the castle, we saw Fred. He was looking over at us, noticing that Ginny looked a little different, but he couldn't say what it was, so he just left it.
Ginny and I had several kissing sessions between the lessons in our room. We talked about how we wanted this relationship just to be between us and we also discussed that it would be for the best, if we went slow.
The ball was only two days away and we prepared ourselves to the dates, we didn't want to have anymore. But still, Cedric was a nice guy and Ginny knew I was in good hands with him. I also knew that Ginny was in good hands, because she was going with her best friend Neville Longbottom.
