Eames had returned to homicide.
But Deakins had reduced her work to paperwork.
He preferred to have her readjust gradually, than to put her in the action, or in the field with Goren.
This saddened Goren.
He would have liked so much for her to become his full partner again.
But he knew that Deakins was doing this for Eames' sake.
Alex had discovered something new.
And this something, made her think, whether or not she was going to continue in crime, or if she would not go instead in the profession of education, or simply stop working.
But first, she had to tell Goren about this discovery.
And then she would act accordingly.
Goren in the field was teamed with Logan.
Logan had a different way of working.
He talked less and acted more.
He did the opposite.
But they complemented each other.
Logan had filled in for Eames during his recovery, and he would be his partner until Deakins decided Eames was fit to return to the field.
He warned him.
- Eames will not be your partner again until I'm sure she has full use of her legs.
How to tell Deakins that Alex's legs were much better.
He would ask her how he could make such a claim.
And to that question he couldn't tell him the truth.
How could he tell her that when he and Emaes made love, his legs worked perfectly.
But that was their secret.
And so he would be patient.
Which he wasn't at all.
But in the evening, he would console himself by being in her arms.
And that alone gave him the courage to wait.
