A/N: Okay here's another chapter and since nobody answers my question a few chapters back I will continue with the original plot. So with no more interruption lest continuing with the story and I hope you still enjoy it.
Chapter 8: Getting into trouble Part-2
A few minutes early inside the building. Ellie was moving behind some crates hiding from the men that were looking for her. She moved deeper into the factory so the darker be able to cover her. Ellie hides behind a wall to think about what to do next. Her spare gun was an old revolver, so she checked it out and saw that she only have, four bullets left. She knows how to shoot so that will be enough to kill a few of them if she hits them on the head, but that will be hard to do in the darkness, and need to be close to them to do that. So she needs a plan and fasts.
"I know you're in here… so why don't you save us the trouble and give up… there is no escape for you…" said another hunter as he was getting closer to her.
Soon Ellie hears the man's voice, she starts to move slowly in the opposite direction to get away from him. She knew it was their boss's voice, so maybe if she killed him the other would run away. But she knows that this man is more clever than the others and he is not alone.
"I know you're scared… but we can treat you right… you don't look like other girls we found before… I can see you're a fighter… and I can use that in my group…"
The voice was getting closer and closer and Ellie did not have elsewhere to move. She enters a corridor that ends in a room, probably a store or an office but the only way out is returning from the same way she came in. She knew that going to the room was a bad idea, but it was the only one she has for now. She hears the steps of the men getting closer to the corridor so the only way to get some cover now was getting inside the room, so she ran for it.
The man hears her and walks faster to get into the dark corridor. He turned on his flashlight and moved into the corridor. The hunter pointed the light at the end and saw Ellie at the entrance of the room.
"Got you!" he said while pointing his gun at her. "There is no escape now little girl… so why don't you surrender and-" he stopped when he heard a gunshot coming from outside. "What the hell?" he said, but before he said something else, Ellie shot at him. The bullet missed him for a few millimeters and that gave him the time to move back and get out of Ellie's sight. Ellie shot at him again and hit the wall where he moved to hide.
"You're not going to get me asshole… and my friends out there are going to take care of you men, so if you want me to come and get me I have plenty of bullets for you here." She was lying, but it was the only way to keep the man away from her.
"So, I think you're not lying about being with someone else here, but not getting any hope to be rescued, because it is not a way out from there." The boss hears the door of the room open and closes as soon as he finishes talking. After that, his brother and the other hunter that goes after her arrival at his side.
"We hear a gunshot coming from outside, brother… so she was not lying about not being alone here." said the hunter's boss brother.
He turned around and looked at them. "Yeah, but I only hear one shot, so it can't be more than one… you two stay here and guard the corridor, she does not have a way out from there, so just make sure that she doesn't come out until I come back." He moved away from the wall and looked at them. "I will check out what is going on outside, but if she tries to get out of there, don't kill her… I want her alive."
"Yes boss…" said the hunter.
The boss looked at his brother and gave him a look. "I know that you want revenge, little brother, but we can work that out later… so don't do something stupid and kill her before I have the chance with her… is that clear?"
The man wants to kill her for cutting him, but he knows not to mess with his brother's plan and whatever he has in store for her, he knows that they will enjoy it in the end. "Okay… brother… we do it your way…" he finally said.
"Good… and don't worry brother, you will have your revenge… I promise," said the boss before walking away.
Soon Ellie went into the room, she locked the door and Lucky for her that still works but that is not going to hold them for long. Ellie leans her back at the door and takes a deep breath. She closes her eyes and starts to think about what to do next. The place was dark, but some holes on the walls left some of the sunlight in, so it only took a minute for her eyes to get costumed to the dark.
After another minute she takes out her backpack and gets out her flashlight and starts to check the place. The man was right. The place was a storage room without any other exit or windows so there was no way out except for the front door. She was trapped, so she needs to think about how she is going to get out of there without getting killed or captured. Ellie starts to walk around the room looking for a way out, but so far she can see any. She needs to find something that can help her before those men decide to come to the room to get her. The door is not going to hold them out, and she only has two bullets left.
C'mon Ellie… you need to find something… maybe if I can hide enough to give Joel more time to come here and rescue me, that will be great. Ellie always thinks of Joel as her hero, always coming to save her when she gets into trouble. Ellie moves around the room flashing the light on some of the racks there. Some of them are empty, but others have some boxes and other things. Maybe I can move some of this empty rack to block the door and make it difficult for them to get in… yeah maybe that can give me a few more minutes and maybe I can kill one of them before they get in… yeah… that can work.
Outside the two hunters have the old man kneeling in front of them. "I don't know how you manage to kill our friend in that gas station, but we're going to make you pay for that too." said the man he shot in the arms while pointing a gun at his head.
"Wait!... what about his boy?" said the other man, stopping him from shooting. "He can be around here… we need to find him too and he can help us to do that," he said to the other hunter.
The man with the gun looked at him. "I don't think he will help us with that… so is-"
"But he can help us in other manners," said the Boss as soon as he came out of the building. He walks toward the hunters and stops beside them. "Well, well… What do we have here? I thought I let you and your boy tie up at that gas station… but I bet that the girl inside has to do something with your escape… Am I correct?" he said, lowering to his level.
"I'm not going to tell you a shit… and where is my girl?" he answers back.
"He said that Malcolm and Tom are dead… that must be true if he is here…" said one of the hunters, the one that did not get shot.
The boss looked at the hunter then back to the old man. "Is that so…" he said with a calm voice. "I know you and your boy don't do that alone, so who else helps you besides the girl that we have trapped in there?" he said while pointing to the wood factory.
The old man looked at him with a mad expression. He knows that he must be talking about Ellie and if that is true, that is his fault. He should not leave Ellie to go alone there, not even come here with him, his granddaughter was his problem, not hers. Ellie and her companion help them enough, and now she is in the hands of these bad people. "Where is my little girl? And what are you going to do with the other one?" he asked again, trying to gain more time.
The hunter boss moves closer to him and smiles. "Ahhhh, you don't need to worry about that, we follow her here, so it is a matter of time before we get her too." He moved away from her a little. "And about the other girl… we're going to have something special for her."
"If you dare to touch them… I swear to God that I will kill you…" said the old man in a raging tone.
"Oh… I will do more than touch her… and I will make you watch… too" he stood up and looked at the others. "You two… search the area and find the boy and whatever helps is helping him… You can kill whatever they are, but I want the boy alive," he said with a ruthless voice.
"What about him?" said the hunter that got shot pointing to the old man.
"He will be the bait to make the little girl come out from whatever she is hiding…" he was going to say something else, but the old man spoke first.
"If you think that I will help you to find her… you're making a- Ahhhh..." the boss Hunter turned around and hit him in the face with his gun. The old man hit the ground after the hit.
The hunter's boss looked at him with a grin on his face. "I don't think you have too much of a choice here."
Inside the building, the boss's brother was getting impatient. "C'mon, let's go inside and get her, I'm tired of waiting for my brother," he said while walking inside the corridor and toward the storage room door.
The other hunter moves after him and stops him. "Wait… you brother said that-"
The boss's brother turned around and looked at him. "Just follow me… and Let me take care of him later ... He will be pleased when we come out with the girl in our hands." the man said while starting to walk toward the room door again. The other hunter rolled his eyes but followed him. Soon they get to the door, the boss's brother tries to open it, but it is locked.
"Damn… she locked it from inside…" he said while continuing trying to open it. "Stay back…" he grabbed his shotgun with his good hand and started to hit the noob of the door with it. "Open the door you little bitch…" he yelled while continuing to hit the noob.
Inside, Ellie turns around and looks at the door as soon as the hunters start to hit it. Okay... Ellie time is up, you need to start thinking about how to get out of this one. Ellie hears the man yelling again while continuing to hit the door. She knew that is not going to hold for long, and even with the racks that she put to block it, they will get in eventually. After a few minutes, she grabbed her gun and pointed to the door. She doesn't know what else to do. The room doesn't have another way out, but whatever happens, at least she will have the chance to kill one of them as soon as they get inside.
Soon she feels that the door noob gets broken, she moves to the back of the room waiting for the first man to get in. "What the hell is this?" said one of the hunters as he tried to open the door and was stuck. "I can't open it!"
"She must be blocked with something…" she hears another hunter say.
"Just help me… to push it," the two men started to push the door to get it open but it was hard with all the rack Ellie put there. Ellie was watching how the men push the door to get in, but before they do, a hatch on the ceiling of the room gets open. Ellie looks up as soon as she hears the sound.
"Hey… over here... come with me if you want to live…" said a girl's voice coming from the hole.
Ellie moves under the open roof and looks inside the hole. Then she saw a girl extending her hand out at her. "Are you Molly?" she asked, knowing the answer to that because who else can be?
The girl looked at her with curious eyes. "How do you know my name?" she asked quickly.
Ellie doesn't have much time to talk but needs to let the girl know that she is there to help. "We found your grandpa, in a gas station a few miles from here and we're been looking for you…"
The girl looks at Ellie with her eyes wide open. "Do you come here with my grandpa?" she asked with a surprised tone. "What about my brother… is he okay… I thought-" she stops when the hunters start to yell again and curses. They almost got the door opened, so the girl extended her hand again to help Ellie up. "C'mon… we need to move before the break-in."
Ellie moves a plastic box that was close to her and puts it under the opening in the ceiling, the girl helps her to get into the air-conditioner duct. Soon Ellie was inside she close the grid and start to move away from it. "Are you been hiding in here, all the time?" whispers Ellie as she moves. The duct was small but big enough for them to crawl forward. Soon they move a little away from the room, they hear the hunter finally breaking in.
"Yeah… but, can we talk later… we have to move before they find out you get out this way." said the girl while moving to another section of the duct.
"Give me the flashlight…" said the boss's brother. Soon he gets it, he starts to check the place looking for the girl.
"C'mon, little girl… I know you're in here, so there is no point in hiding…" he starts to walk around checking behind the rack there. "Don't make this more difficult… just surrender and we will treat you well…" They look at the place for a few minutes but when he doesn't see her, the man screams in frustration.
"She is not here… how?" said the other hunter while looking at him.
"She has to… is not another way out." He started to point the flashlight everywhere until he saw the plastic box between two racks, then he pointed the flashlight to the ceiling and saw the grid in there. "Shit!... she is in the air duct…" he moves on top of the box and opens the grid. "I know you're in there you little cunt… but don't think that you will get away that easy…" the duct was too small for him to fix in there, so he needs to think of another way to get the girl.
"What are we going to do now? How are we going to get her?" said the other hunter.
The man gets down and looks at his partner. "We just need to follow the line and see where it goes… c'mon," he said while moving toward the door and get out of the room.
Outside the hunters tie up the old man and move him up. "C'mon old man you're going to help me to get those girls out of their hiding place." said the boss while pushing him toward the building.
Soon as they get close to the entrance of the wood factory they hear a sound coming closer from the road that leads there.
"Hey boss… did you hear that?" asked one of the hunters that were with him.
"It sounds like-" he stops as soon as he sees the motorcycle coming his way. "What the hell?"
Soon Joel gets closer to them, he quickly throws the molotov cocktail he has in one hand to the first hunter in line. The bottle exploded in his feet, setting the man on fire.
"Ahhhhhhh!" The man started to scream as the fire started to spread to all his body.
Joel quickly drives away from the fire and starts to turn around when the other hunter raises his gun and starts to fire at him. "You motherfucker… you will pay for that…" said the hunter while shooting at him a few times, but missed. "I will kill you!" he yelled again.
The boss pushed the old man to the side and raised his gun too. He was going to shoot at Joel, but he had to move when a bullet hit the ground close to his feet. "What the hell?" He looks at the forest when he hears another shot coming that way.
"They're more of them…" Yells the other hunter while running for cover. "I think we underestimated them," he covers himself behind some woods when Joel fires at him from the motorcycle.
"It has to be the boy… just kill the one in the motorcycle. I will take care of the old man," he said while turning his head around to look at the old man. But the old man was already charging at him and pushed him down to the ground.
Joel was driving around evading the shooting from the other guy, but soon he gets to the other side of the car there, he stops the bike and drops his gun to the ground. He takes out the shotgun from the side of the bike and dismounts. Joel moves behind one of the cars and starts shooting at the hunter.
"You're going to pay for this man!" said the hunters while moving behind another woodpile to get close to Joel.
The boss pushed the old man away from him and grabbed his gun from the ground. He was going to shoot him but saw a boy running toward him with a rifle in hand. Soon the boy shot at him, the boss moved aside and stood up. He shot in the boy's direction a few times but missed. The hunter boss ran quickly into the building avoiding the bullets.
Soon the boy goes close to his grandpa, he gets down beside him. "Are you okay grandpa?" he said pointing the gun inside the building in case the hunter that goes inside wanted to do something.
"What are you doing here? You suppose to be resting back in the-" he stops in case the hunters can hear him. "You suppose to be away resting," he said, getting in a sitting position.
The boy takes out a knife and starts to cut the rope. "We heard the gunshots and the man that you sent with me said that he needs to come to help his girl." Soon he finishes cutting the robe, he helps his grandpa to stand up. "He wanted to come alone, but I insisted on coming with him and helping him."
They move behind a woodpile to hide from any attack from inside the building. "Well, you should stay… but thanks for coming. Anyway, I think your sister and Ellie are in there, so let's go and help Joel, then we can go inside and look for them.
The boy nods his head while moving his hand behind his back. He passes a gun to his grandpa. "Here, take this… it is fully loaded... Can you shoot?" he said with a worried tone as soon he saw the blood in his grandfather's head. "Did they hurt you much?"
"Don't worry about me, I'm fine. Let's help Joel and take care of the hunters." they start to move to where Joel was hiding but Joel stops them.
"Go inside and find the girls… I will take care of the one here and follow you after that," he said while shooting at the hunter again.
The old man was going to say something but another hunter comes from the other side of the building and starts shooting at them. Both of them shot back and ran into the building.
Inside the duct, Ellie and Molly were moving closer into another room. "So… you have been hiding inside here all this time?" Ellie asked, wondering how the girl avoided the hunters for so long.
"After I escaped those men at the gas station, I came here to hide. My grandpa told me about this place and told me to come here if something happens. But somehow they found me here, so I hid in one of the rooms.
"I'm very impressed…" Ellie said behind the girl. What about the infected? How do you avoid them? "
Well, this place is big and dark so getting away from the infected was easy until those men came inside looking for me. I thought that if I hid well enough they would think that I was gone and the infected were going to scare them off, but they started to kill them, so I had to hide inside that storage room you were in."
"And they didn't find you? I heard them say that they check all the rooms in this building."
"Yeah, they check that room too, but before they do that, I get into the duct and hide there. As they do not see me go into the room they do not suspect that I was inside the duct, but as they know you're there it is obvious that they will figure it out by now and that is why we need to get out of here before they find us."
Ellie was surprised that a girl her age was so clever. Not only on her way to talk but also in knowing what to do to survive too. A kid her age will be dead or scared by now. "You're a smart girl for your age… Did your grandpa teach all this? I mean to survive in a situation like this?" she asked curiously.
"Our grandpa has been taking care of us since I was little… So he teaches us everything we need to know in case…" the girl stops there and starts to feel sad. Ellie knows what she means by her grandpa has been taking care of them. Their parents must die when they're little, so their grandpa has to take that role. Yeah, he has to teach them how to survive in case something happens to him too.
Ellie never knew her parents, her mother died when she was born and only left her a letter with Marlene. She told her a few things about her mother but never knew who her father was or at least she never told her. She thought that maybe he was a firefly too, but Marline never told her about that. She didn't talk with her much about her past and only told her that her mother was her best friend. She dreams sometimes about him being alive somewhere in this world, but she never has a hope to find him. Joel was the first father figure she has, but now that changes too. Because she has developed other feelings for him.
After a few minutes, the girl stops crawling, and Ellie bumps with her. "Why are we stopping?" asked Ellie in a lower voice.
"Shhhssss!" said the girl while turning her head toward Ellie. "I think I hear someone closer."
"Where are we?" asked Ellie.
"We're inside another room… I don't remember well… but I think someone just entered..." said the girl moving closer to another grill on the duct. Soon Molly looked down through the grill, she saw two hunters looking up to the place they were. "OMG… I think they know we're here… well at least you… because they don't see me."
"C'mon girl… I know you're up there… just come down and I will not shoot you… okay?" said one of the hunters.
Outside, Joel and the others were still fighting the other hunters. The boss goes back to the corridor where he left Ellie trapped, but soon he gets there he notices his brother and the other one wasn't there. He moves toward the room and notices that it is open. "What an asshole I told him not to do anything stupid until I get back… fuck!" said the boss while looking inside the room.
Back in the other room with the hunters. Ellie and the little girl were trapped on the duct. "C'mon down you little cunt… you don't have anywhere to go now…" the man waited for Ellie to move to know where she was. "I will give you one more chance to surrender… but my patience is not forever.
The other hunter moves close to him and whispers. "I think we should go… I hear shooting outside and…"
He looks at his partner and gives him a look. "I don't care who is outside… I'm not going out without her… I will make her pay for cutting my hand."
"What are we going to do now?" asked the girl.
"Well, I think I have a plan…" Ellie takes off her backpack and grabs a molotov cocktail from inside and passes it to the girl. "Okay they don't know you're in here too, so I will use that to our advantage. I will distract them so you can throw this to them… okay?" she said in a lower voice.
"You want me to kill them?" whispered the girl back.
"I'm sorry to put this on you, but is it them or us… Let me know if you… ou we're going to need another plan." After a minute the girl nods her head in agreement. "Okay! I'm coming down… please don't shoot me…" said Ellie moving to the grill after Wendy moved to the other side so she could open it and go down.
"Just came out nice and easy…" said the man looking at the grill now on the duct. After a minute it gets open and Ellie starts to get out of it. "That was a clever move but pointless… sweetheart," he said as soon Ellie touched the floor.
More gunshots can be heard now coming from outside. "Can you hear that? That is my group coming for me… so it is better for you if you just let me go…" said Ellie with her hand up.
The man pointed his gun at her and started to move closer. "I don't care who is with you… I will make you pay for cutting me…" he was getting closer to Ellie when the other hunter stopped him.
"C'mon man, let's get out of here when we still have the chance…" he said with a scared voice.
"Yeah, listen to your partner there… I'm not worthy to die for-" he was interrupted.
"Shut up you little cunt… Your bodies are maybe here but they are only going to find your dead body as soon as I finish with you." said the hunter with a mad tone.
Ellie starts to move backward pretending to be scary and to give time and space for the girl to throw the bottle. "But you said that you're not going to shoot me if I come out… remember?"
"Oh… don't worry about that… because I'm not planning to…" he lowers his gun and takes out a knife. "I'm just going to cut you in little pieces… you fucking bitch," he start to moved toward Ellie and soon he was under the grill of the conduct, Ellie screams.
"NOW!" said Ellie while moving away from him quickly.
The girl shows through the grill hole and throws the bottle in the man's direction. The bottle lands on his feet and explodes in a ball of fire. "Ahhhhhh!" The man starts to scream as he gets on fire. The other man holds up his gun to shoot at the girl in the duct, but Ellie moves quickly and takes her gun from her back. She only had one bullet left but it was enough to hit the man on his chest and kill him. The hunter that was on fire moved around screaming, the room has some carton boxes that start to get on fire as soon as the man trips on them.
"C'mon we need to get out of here," Ellie said to the girl. Molly quickly got down from the duct and landed on the floor. The hunter on fire stops screaming as he lands on top of a few boxes and dies. The room quickly starts to get on fire, so Ellie grabs the girl's hand and pulls her out of there. The Smoke starts to get out of the room while the place starts to get on fire. Both girls start to cough as they move away from the place. After a minute they stop to get some air. "We need… cough... to find you grandpa… cough... and for the shoot outside… cough... I bet Joel is here too…" she said looking at the girl that was still in shock.
"I…cough... I'll kill him!" she said with a trembling voice and coughing.
Ellie moves closer to her and puts one hand on her shoulder. "You did the right thing… he was going to kill me and maybe you if he notices that you're there too... I know it is hard but sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do to survive…" The girl doesn't say anything but nods her head in a sad way. "C'mon… let's get out of here before the fire starts to spread around the whole place."
Both girls start to walk away from the room when a man shows up in front of them. "Oh!... this is my lucky day after all." said the boss man while pointing his gun at them.
