Alphas and Twins

Over the next two days, Lady talked, a lot, but Stiles didn't mind. He loved that he didn't have to guess or assume what she wanted anymore, now she could just tell him what she wanted to. Some of her questions amused him a lot, which isn't that strange considering she is a spider and doesn't see everyday things as something normal. He'd had to explain a lot of things to her, like the fact that no, not all cars are Jeeps, that is just a model of a car. He also has to tell her what the real difference between home and school is, and that there are many people who share the same name which confuses her because he tells him that she thought the point of having a name was so that other people could use it to differentiate between other humans. It results in a long discussion that ends with Lady telling him that humans are much too difficult and complicated for her to even bother trying to understand, and he laughs a little at that because she's not entirely wrong.

They have a lot of conversations in between his research and investigating, Lady has taken it upon herself to make sure he eats at least three times a day, all the while complaining about humans' weird feeding habits. She also makes a point of forcing him to speed when she has decided he's been awake for too long. Both Stiles's friends and dad think it's hilarious that he's being bossed around by a spider, but they made sure to tell Lady that she is doing a good job, and conspires with her against Stiles to have her keep doing it. It annoys him a little bit, but he mostly feels good about having people that care about him enough to make sure he is alright and well. So he puts up with it, even if it means having to clean up dead mouses, and have to carry Lady around and listen to her nagging at him to take better care of himself.

He feels loved and happy, and he doesn't ever want it to stop.

So of course it's when he feels happiest that he overhears Scott tell Allison about an alpha pack, and it hits him hard, he hasn't stopped looking for the missing teens but Lady had forced him to take more breaks than he'd like. But a whole pack of Alphas was just the clue he needed to properly put everything together. When he gets home from school that day, he looks up the twins that just started at his school, and he manages to link them to the other two werewolves, alphas, that he had seen around Beacon Hills, and around Erica and Boyd. He then managed to link all of them to each other and one other person, a blind alpha called Deucalion. It all seems to go back to Deucalion, Stiles thinks that he's the one who built the alpha pack.

The information he finds would be really strange if he wasn't aware of the supernatural. From the beginning, this Deucalion seems like a great guy, living with a bunch of other people that Stiles is assuming was his pack, but then one day he shows up and suddenly he's blind and there are reports and other things that point to him having killed his entire pack. Of course, Stiles can't possibly know the details, but other than outright asking this guy, he's never going to know exactly what happened. Soon after he became blind he somehow recruited two of the four strange alphas Stiles had seen around town, Kali and Ennis according to his research, but before they left their homes with Deucalion their respective packs were also killed. Stiles has the theory that Deucalion convinced them to kill their packs for some reason or other before he allowed them in his "new pack". There isn't much more he can find on them, other than the occasional dead bodies left behind them, and that the twins are a relatively new addition. If he had understood correctly then they were in an abusive situation when the alpha pack found them and helped them out, even if they too were convinced to kill their pack and even their Alpha. That means that the twins probably feel like they owe Deucalion for helping them out of that situation. Not that any of this should excuse any of the murders or the other horrible stuff, but it is understandable at least.

Stiles is certain that these people have something to do with the disappearance of the two teen wolves, and after telling his dad about it they figure out the most likely places for them to stash their kidnappees. However, it means that his dad can't properly use his police resources since it is werewolf-related. Stiles is reluctant at first to remind his dad that Chris Argent is an actual werewolf hunter and that he could at the very least ask him for advice but decides to do it anyway because he'll do anything that might help him with finding and saving Erica and Boyd.

Lady finds that she enjoys talking, very much and she finally has a chance to get answers to her questions. She doesn't like all of the answers she gets, they just reinforce her opinion that humans are too complicated and weird than any species has any right to be. She can understand why the humans need different names, but why does their big fast-moving dangerous moving things, cars she remembers, also have different names? She tried asking Stiles this, but he wouldn't give her a good answer, just that they usually were named after the companies that made them, and that just makes the whole thing even more complicated.

Other than frustrating answers and complicated humans, she adjusts well to being able to truly communicate with Stiles. She has also noticed that the stronger her connection gets with her human the stronger she gets. She has hunted down more than one prey that was much bigger than her and every time it gets easier to wrestle them into submission, she has also grown bigger since she first met Stiles. It is, however, not a big concern for Lady as it only makes her life easier and helps her to keep her territory and humans safe. She does wonder about the reason sometimes, she had been certain that she would not grow bigger after her last molting as a spiderling, apparently, she was wrong.

As the days pass, she makes sure that Stiles takes care of himself, she makes sure that he doesn't miss more than one feeding a day, and that he rests as much as he needs.

But he gets more difficult to take care of the more he uses his computer devise, to search for the two missing humans. She does not understand why Stiles is the one who has to search for them, from what's has to her and from what she has heard from the other humans, these two that are missing are close to the horrible Scott human that hurt her Stiles. She does not like that Stiles puts so much effort into finding them, she does not think they deserve his kindness.

Finally, after a long time, too long time if someone were to ask Lady, Stiles and his father meets with yet another human. This one she keeps hidden from, she does not like the way he looks, she thinks that he would stamp on her the first moment he got, and she would not put it past him to not hurt her human either. The three humans sit together and talk about the two missing ones, after a lot of talking the new human leaves. She almost wishes that she had paid attention to what they said, but she was too busy with studying the new human and doing her best to make sure he didn't see her.

After the human left, she observes as Stiles and his father have their last feeding of the day, and then Stiles brings her with him upstairs where he does more of his homework. Homework, she has been told, is the things the talking people at the school give the other humans to take home. As if having to listen to these humans aren't bad enough they also have to force the listener to do more things for them. Lady is again reminded of human weirdness, and she will never not be grateful for not being a human.

When it gets dark outside she decides that it is time for Stiles to go to his resting place and sleep, she gets him to do this by crawling all over the place where he is reading, she does this instead of talking right away because his reaction to trying to keep working around her crawling amuses her.

"Lady, stop that! I'm trying to read this!", is what he finally tells her.

'I would not need to stop if you took care of yourself,' she answers. 'It is dark outside, and that means it is time for humans to rest,' she tells him. He rolls his eyes at her, something he does often when he doesn't agree with something, or just thinks something is too annoying.

"No, I need to finish this first," he begins, "I'm not gonna have time for it tomorrow, since we're going out to see if we can find Erica and Boyd tomorrow. We've narrowed it down to three places, where they're most likely to be kept" he finishes.

'Why did you not tell me of this, Stiles?', she asks him with a glare. Stiles looks at her and sighs, "You didn't listen when dad and I were talking to Chris? I didn't tell you because I thought you already knew!, he says, and huh okay maybe she should pay more attention when he speaks with other humans after all. She probably won't though, especially not now when she can just ask him to tell her what she missed.

'Why should I listen to what the other humans are saying, when I can have you tell me the important things and not have to listen to the boring things humans often say?' is what she tells him.

"Lady!" Stiles says, but his tone of voice s more amused than anything else, "If I have to listen to the boring things, then so should you! Why do you want me to be bored alone?", he asks her, and this is where Lady would have rolled her eyes if it was necessary.

'That sounds like it is more a problem for you than me. Now you will sleep since you have big plans in the morning you need all the rest you can get,' she says and looks pointedly at her human, talking to him is wonderful, but no less frustrating when it comes to taking care of him.

"Fine, I'll go to sleep, but if I fail school I'm blaming you," he tells her as he gets up and walks to the bathroom to make himself ready for sleep. She makes her way to the bed and takes a seat on the headboard and settles in for a long night of guarding her human.

When Stiles wakes up the next morning, he feels well-rested and worried. He and his dad had had a long and informational conversation with Chris Argent, who was a lot more agreeable to deal with without his sister, father, or wife around. This makes Stiles a little sad to think about, they might have been bad people that killed a lot of people, Kate and Gerard especially but they were still Chris's family and it can't be easy to lose so many people you love almost at the same time. Of course, during Stiles's research about pretty much everything he found out that Gerard is still alive, even after rejecting the werewolf bite, he'd been placed in a nursing home, which is something Stiles plans to bring up with his father and Chris at a later date. He is not at all comfortable with the old man being alive, especially not in a place without a security guard whose job it is to keep him from going anywhere, and sure he might be weak and possibly dying but Stiles has learned to never underestimate someone just because they might or might not be dying.

The most important thing to concentrate on right now is finding the alpha packs hiding place for the missing teens, the rest of the problems are things he'll have to figure out later.

Stiles gets up from his bed and gets dressed, he still has to go to school before he's allowed to go searching for the werewolves, if he didn't know that both his dad and Chris was going to start looking while he's in school he would have skipped a day, but his dad would not be happy with him and so he had decided to listen to his dad after all. When he gets to the kitchen he sees a note on the table, it's from his dad and it tells him that the sheriff has already started searching and that hell text Stiles if he finds something. The plan for today is mostly to see if they can find where the kidnapped teens are, and then observe and find out where to go from there. If it is at all possible, or if the wolves are in immediate danger then they'll try to get them out immediately, but if they're relatively safe then they can take some time and plan for an actual escape, that doesn't end with anyone getting more hurt than is necessary.

He gets some breakfast and then makes sure he has everything he needs in his bag, he's taken to carrying around mountain ash and wolfsbane wherever he goes, just in case he gets cornered or attacked. If it weren't for the fact that he was going to school he'd most likely also keep a gun at him at all times, he and his dad had taken to going to the gun range at least once a week, something they had done many times before but had stopped when things got weird and strained between father and son. The sheriff had taught Stiles how t properly use a gun when he was seven, and Stiles had enjoyed the experience. He didn't like the thought of using a gun on an actual living being, but he liked to do target practicing, so he knows how to use a gun, in fact, he is very good with a gun almost on par with his dad.

But since the school doesn't allow guns, and for good reason, he keeps the one he has hidden in his Jeep just in case of an emergency.

"Ready to go, Lady?", he asks, "Or are you staying home today?", she walks over to him and he places his hand in front of her so she can climb up it, 'If you think that you can leave me here alone, then you are very wrong, human.' is the answer he gets. Stiles gives her a smile and watches her as she climbs up to his shoulder, he still can't believe that she can talk to him, he doesn't think it's something he'll ever get used to but in a good way. His dad's reaction to learning that the spider could actually talk to his son had been hilarious, it took some convincing to make him believe it but afterward, he was mostly resigned and exasperated.

He goes to his car and gets in, resigned to the fact that he's not gonna be able to concentrate at all in classes today, he has all the same classes as either Mandy, Sean, or both today however so he can ask if he can read their notes later. When he gets to school he notices that Allison keeps looking at him weirdly, and he wonders if her dad has told her about their plan and Stiles's involvement in it. He doesn't really care, either way, Allison is dating Scott and hangs out with the pack, which means she doesn't spend any time with Stiles. He knows that if Allison is aware then she at least hasn't told Scott or any of the other pack members, because if she had Stiles would have a very angry Scott in his face yelling at him to stay away. Not that that has ever kept Stiles from doing what he wants, in fact, it's usually the times he's told to stay away from something that he does his best to get as close as possible. Scott had told Stiles to leave the pack alone, and keep away from the supernatural so that he doesn't get himself killed, and so the first thing Stiles did was to dig deeper into the supernatural world. He is pretty sure he knows more about werewolves than Scott does, at this point.

He ignores Allison's stare and walks up to the front doors, and just as he's about to go inside something bumps into him hard enough that he drops his bag out of shock. He goes to pick it up but another hand is faster than he is, "I'm sorry! I didn't see you!" a voice says. He looks at the person who had bumped into him and is surprised to see one of the alpha twins, and he doesn't need to have a werewolf's hearing to know that he had been lied to. No way had he just accidentally run into Stiles.

"It's fine," Stiles tells him, "Hey, aren't you one of the new guys?", he asks even though he knows the answer. He happens to look over the wolf's shoulder and sees the pack standing on the other side of the hallway, glaring daggers at him and the twin. Suddenly he gets the feeling that he was bumped into because the guy somehow found out that Scott and Stiles had been friends, and he probably thinks he can use Stiles to get to Scott and his gang. Well, Stiles thinks, two can play that game.

"Yeah, my twin brother and I just transferred here, looking for a new start you know?" the twin says, "I'm Aiden, by the way," he finishes and holds out a hand. Stiles takes the hand and shakes it, "Nice to meet you Aiden, I'm Stiles," he says.

Now Stiles likes to think that he is above gossiping, but he also makes it a point to keep track of all of the rumors going around, he looks all of them up and figures out if they're real or not before he takes any stock in them, but he does listen to all of the rumors. According to the most recent ones, Jackson has moved out of town and as such has broken up with Lydia, and Lydia is currently possibly dating Aiden. He has also heard rumors that Aiden's twin Ethan has a thing with Danny, unfortunately, these new rumors are ones he hasn't yet had time to check up on, so he'll just keep pretending to be clueless.

"Again, I'm sorry for almost pushing you down," Aiden says. "Don't worry about it, dude. Ask almost anyone here and they'll tell you I'm a walking disaster, I probably would have tripped over nothing if you hadn't been there," Stiles tells him, of course, he has gotten a little less clumsy lately but he'll probably never outgrow that completely.

"Well then, I'm glad I could help..?", Aiden answers with a questioning tone to his voice, as if he isn't sure what to really say to that.

"Yeah, dude, mee too!" he answers him with a big goofy grin, to really drive home the fact that he is a ridiculous and harmless human. "So you got any friends yet, or are all of our fellow classmates being jerks to you?" Stiles asks him, he knows this guy has killed people and that he's terrorizing Scott's gang, but he can't help that he wants to keep talking to the alpha, if only because it really pisses Scott off. Not that Scott can do anything about it though, unless he wants to tell Aiden that Stiles knows about werewolves., and since Scott's excuse to unfriend Stiles was to keep him safe, then he probably wants to keep the alphas thinking that Stiles really are just a harmless human.

"No, no friends, I have my twin brother though. we have most classes together so that helps. But outside of movies, I've found that it's pretty difficult to make friends with people in small towns, where almost everyone has known each other since kindergarten," is Aiden's answer, and man if Stiles didn't know this guy was bad he'd feel really bad for him.

"That suck dude," Stiles starts, "I get what you mean, I met my best friend when we were four or five, but he recently replaced me with a pretty girlfriend and a bunch of popular lacrosse players," he continues and sees surprise on Aiden's face, maybe he doesn't know much about Scott and Stiles after all. "It doesn't matter though, I got two new better friends out of the whole ordeal." Stiles finishes.

"I'm sorry to hear that, that can't have been fun," Aiden says, and just then the bell rings and Stiles startles and drops his bag again, and this time his notebook and several pens fall out of it. He sighs and looks at Aiden, "Like I said, a walking disaster," he says and waves a hand over his bag but gives a small smile. He bends down to pick up his stuff, and when he stands up again Aiden says, "Would it be too much to ask you to show me the way to the history classroom, I haven't had history yet and I'm not sure where it is." Huh, would you look at that, his first class of the day and he share it with both Mandy and Sean, and apparently one of the alpha twins.

"Yeah, no, I can walk you there, I'm supposed to be there anyway," he answers, and they walk to the classroom together. When they get there he sees Mandy and Sean sitting at their usual places, and he turns to Aiden.

"My friends are over there, you're more than welcome to sit with us if you want to," he tells the alpha, who looks at him and nods his head. "I'd really appreciate it, thanks," is his answer.

"No problem dude, I've gotta make up for my fellow Beacon Hills High School student's lack of welcoming right? Wouldn't be right to leave you all alone, now would it?" he tells him, then he leads the alpha towards his friends, which both look at him a bit questionably. He hasn't really been known to talk to anyone other than the two of them lately, not that he talked to a whole lot of other people when he was friends with Scott either, but he did have a conversation or two with other people then. Now it's just like he can't be bothered to talk to anyone other than his friends unless the other person starts the conversation. He looks at Mandy and Sean.

"Guys, I don't know if you've met, but this is Aiden. He and his twin are new and I figured I'd be nice and help him out," he tells them and gets a snort from Sean and a muttered 'nice' from Mandy.

"Hey, I am nice! Don't look at me like that!" He exclaims and both of his friends laugh a bit at him, so he turns to Aiden, "That's Mandy, and Sean, don't listen to them, I'm plenty nice! I promise." Stiles says to Aiden and points to his friends as he introduces them. Mandy and Sean giggle a bit more but stops long enough to say hi to Aiden.

By the time the teacher gets to the classroom, 10 minutes late, the four of them are having a great time getting to know each other and sharing funny stories. It's a shame that Aiden is a part of Erica and Boyd's kidnapping because Stiles genuinely likes the guy. He kind of hopes that maybe he and his twin can be convinced to leave the alpha pack before they kidnap, hurt or kill anyone else.

The rest of the class flies by, and before they know it they're splitting up for the next one. Stiles and Sean go one way, and Many and Aiden go another way to meet up with Ethan before heading to their next class. Stiles doesn't meet Ethan until the last class before lunch, which is the only one he has that day without Mandy and Sean. Ethan is just as great as Aiden, probably a bit nicer too in Stiles' opinion, and he gets along great with him as well.

It's the first time since Scott unfriended him, that he eats lunch inside of the cafeteria, but it rains too much to sit outside. He is joined by his friends and the alpha twins. about halfway through lunch, Stiles hears the scraping of a chair, and he turns around to see Danny standing up and walking towards their table. Ethan is the only other person to notice him right away, "Hey Danny!", he says with a smile and Stiles is pretty sure that the twin genuinely likes Danny, and he hopes that he doesn't end up hurting him to help the alpha pack accomplish their goals.

"Hey Ethan," Danny says, and then he looks at Stiles, and his friends, "Hey guys, do you mind if I sit with you?", almost at the same time everyone turns to look at Stiles, and he finds it hilarious. "Why are you all looking at me, I don't have sole custody of the table," He tells them with a smile, but looks at Danny, "Since apparently, I'm the guardian of the lunch table, I'll speak for everyone," he continues with a snort, "Sure dude, have a seat," he finishes and gestures towards the only empty chair left, that just so happens to be beside Ethan. Stiles guesses that the rumors about those two might be true after all.

The rest of the lunch period goes by smoothly, except for an awkward moment when Scott actually walks up to their table and tries to get Stiles to go somewhere else to talk.

"Sorry Scotty, I'm busy at the moment, but I'm sure Isaac or Allison will be more than happy to talk to you," is Stiles's response to that, and Scott looks like someone had just killed his puppy but he walks away very reluctantly.

Aiden is the first one to talk after Scott leaves, "So I'm guessing that's the friend you told me about?" he asks.

"Yep, that's Scott," answers Stiles, and he sees the questioning look on Ethan's face along with the confused one from Danny. Stiles assumes that no one in the pack had given him any details about Stiles and Scott's ended friendship, so Stiles gives a sigh and thinks he might as well just get it over with.

"Scott and I were best friends since, well forever basically, but then his asthma got better and he successfully tried out for the lacrosse team. One thing led to another, and suddenly he's got super lacrosse skills, a girlfriend, a bunch of new friends, and no time left for hanging out with me," Stiles told them, "Except of course, for when he needed help with something, usually homework and copies of my notes," he continued and just then he looked up and made eye contact with Scott, "Then Scott decided that he didn't want to have anything more to do with me, because and I quote 'I've got Allison and Isaac and they're better than I could ever be, plus they're popular'. Really it is just a bullshit excuse and I'm almost certain it's mostly lies, but I decided to go along with it," he told them and finally looked away from Scott who looked like someone had stabbed him with a blunt and rusty knife. "But anyway, it got me two new and so far much better friends, so I'm not really complaining," He says with a teasing voice directed at Mandy and Sean, but he means it. He values Mandy and Sean's friendship a lot because he knows that if they didn't want to be friends with him anymore then they would just tell him that, and not give him some poor excuse like, 'it's safer for you if we're not friends' all the while making it sound threatening.

Lunch ended and the teens all go to their classrooms for the next class, and Stiles just wants the day to end, and hopes that there is still a chance to keep the twins as his friends.

After school he says goodbye to his friends and goes to his Jeep, he'd gotten a text from his dad during one of his classes, that said that he and Chris knew where the teens were. The plan is for Stiles to go back home and pick up the duffle bag with anti werewolf supplies and weapons, and then meet up with his dad a block away from the old closed-down bank. Stiles's job is mostly to be there and help get the teens out and driven away from there as quickly as possible.

But when he opens the front door to his house, he hears a motorcycle so he turned around and spots the alpha twins on their bikes. Stiles's heart starts beating a bit harder because he might have spent the whole day with them, but he had been technically lying the entire time. He also knows that their goal was most likely to use him to get to Scott's gang.

"Hey, guys!" He calls to them, a bit nervously, with a wave. The twins share a look before they get off of their bikes and walk up to him.

"We need to talk Stiles," says one of them, he's pretty sure it's Aiden but he can't tell why he thinks so. Stiles sighs, and sends a text to his dad tells him he's gonna be a little later than planned unless they need him there right now. He gets a text back immediately that says they can wait for a moment longer. So Stiles looked up at the twins, turns around and walks in through the door, and leaves it open for them to walk in after him.

"Alright, is there anything, in particular, you two wanna talk about, or did you just wanna talk in general?" Stiles asks lightly as he opens the fridge and takes out three water bottles, he opens one of them and hands the other two to the twins.

"We need to talk about Scott McCall and his friends," says the twin that is almost certainly Ethan.

"Alright I'm all ears dude," Says Stiles and sits down at the table, the twins sit down opposite him and share another look, then they look at Stiles, then most likely Aiden looks at him and asks, "What do you know about werewolves?"

Huh, he thinks, as he looked at the twins. Maybe they won't kill him after all, he thinks and takes a sip of his water.
