"Phil?" Techno asked the man in front of him, walking towards him as they were both seated on a hay bale in their retried house. The house was a farm, filled with jobs and routines they would do daily.
They had retried on what is about a hundred years ago, way back then(though it was nothing compared to the thousands of years they themselves have lived). It was a known fact who they were.
Technoblade. The blood god, the man who's known for having no mercy upon his enemies. The man who is known for killing thousands in his way. Or, rather, the man who was known for all those things. He is no longer Technoblade, the infamous 'blood god', he is just Techno. A man who wants no more of life, upon being cursed immortality. Who wants no more of the hurt he felt and still feels today.
Philza Minecraft is like Technoblade. Though, not exact. Philza is the Angel of Death, sent down by her to go seek out those who are not worthy of the chance of living by Death and himself. Technoblade was among them. Philza himself nearly killed Technoblade, till Technoblade had the chance of one upping him. They had been friends since that day.
That was Philza, though, and Philza isn't Phil. If Philza is like Technoblade, then Phil is like Techno. Phil is a kind man, a man who cares for others and the people he found in the forest, on the streets, he gives them food. Phil is a man who is too kind for his own good. A man who is also tried of living. Phil is a father. Or, he was a father.
Right now, however, they sat on a hay bale, looking out to the farm that they made when they retired fully. "Hey mate." Phil replied back, after not answering for a good two minutes. "What are you thinking about?" Techno asks him, even though he already knows exactly what he's thinking about(he himself has thought about it too many times, even does today).
"Techno, you remember Wil and Tommy, right? And everyone else in between?" Phil took a breath before continuing, "Like Tubbo and Ranboo? Hell, maybe even Michael!" Techno looked at him with fondness. The day hadn't came when they were ready to talk about their past family, or even their past in general. After a hundred years, they are just starting now.
After a hundred years since they retired, they are talking about the thing that made them retire in the first place.
"Yes, Phil, I remember them. As clear as day." Techno replied, and he could hear Phil crying already. He turned to face him, wrapping his arms around him in process, as some sort of comfort, though Techno always sucked at those(Wilbur was better at comforting, he always comforted Techno). "We started a fucking family at some point in our lives, when we promised not to get attached—" Phil chocked as he sobbed into Techno's shoulder, "Attached to— to mortals. People who couldn't live forever." "I know, we did, but we're not ones to keep promises, eh?" Phil chuckled a bit while Techno joined in on him.
"Hey— Techno, I got something." Phil told him after what felt like hours(though it was only a few minutes) of silence. Techno just titled his head like a dog(Tommy always made fun of him for that), "What is it?" Phil stood up and started walking away, "Stay here, alright? I'll come back soon after I get it."
Techno was then left there alone while Phil ran to get whatever he wanted to show Techno.
Soon, he was back and sat next to Techno in where he was before. He had a book with him, almost the size of his lap. "What is it, Phil?" Phil smiled at him, though it was a bit sad before answering, "It's a photo book. I kept our photos with everyone here." And that's what had Techno have a tear drop down his face.
He thought there were no memories, no photos, nothing left of his family but blurry images. A hundred years don't go by quickly, and people like immortals tend to forget quickly. At this point in his life, he can only remember the feeling around his family and their looks, though no real memories.
"It's okay if you don't want to see the photos, I understand why. I haven't seen them myself for a long while, maybe hundred years. Never dared to," Phil explains to him, but Techno is quick to shake his head, "No, I want to see them. It's fine." Phil smiles, "Alright mate," He says to him, before opening the first page which appears to be a contents page.
"Oh. Seems like they're in age order for Wilbur and Tommy. Which one do you want, Techno?" Phil looks at him, a questioning gaze set on him. But you really can't miss the hint of grief in his voice and gaze.
Techno points at the second section, it says:
'T: 4, W: 6'
Phil smiles, "Alright."
Phil flipped the pages to the one Techno pointed at. The first photo that was on the top left corner had Wilbur sleeping in Techno's arms, while Tommy was on top of Techno's head. Techno himself was smiling contently to the camera while Tommy was just staring curiously into it. The setting they were in was in the backyard of their old house that was the house their family used to live in.
They were leaning against a tree, a single yellow flower beside Techno as he looked into the camera. You could see a bit of the tree's leaves at the top of the photo. The photo itself was coloured. Wilbur was wearing a white sweater, the sleeves not fitting him, making it cover his hands. Tommy was wearing a black and yellow stripe shirt. Tommy had this little sleeping hat on top of his head, the whole colour of it was blue. Techno, on the other hand, was wearing a pink jacket and his iconic golden crown was being held by Tommy on top of his head.
Techno and Phil could remember that day as clear as the blue sky.
"Techno, mate!" Phil shouted at him gesturing to face the camera, "Shh! Wil's sleeping Phil!" Techno told him then patted Tommy, "Hey bud, look at dad." Tommy had done what Techno told him to do, then Phil said, "Smile!"
And a flashing light of white glowed on them all.
The next photo had Phil wrapping his wings around Tommy, Wilbur and Techno. It was a simple photo. They were all standing up, Tommy was gripping on Phil's pants while Wilbur was just running his fingers through Phil's wings. Techno was just smiling, standing to Phil's left.
"Phil, let's get a family photo." Techno had told him when it breakfast, "Maybe we can compare it to something in the future." He added on. Phil just looked at him surprised, "Never in a million years would I thought you would want a family photo, Techno." Techno just raised his eye brow, "Yes or no, Phil, it's that simple." "Yes, okay, yes."
They had got together in the camera's view, Phil had spread his wings out for fun.
The flashing light went on them once more.
Of course, there were more photos. Hundreds of them, in fact. Phil and Techno looked through them all, and after finishing the second last section, went back to save the very last one. The last time they ever were together in the camera's view.
The last section held only five photos. All fitting the two sides of the book.
That's when Phil cried. In fact, he sobbed once he saw the photos, Techno closed the book and moved it to the side just to hold his best friend. Phil cried into his chest, and he could feel the wetness of his shoulder, telling him Techno was crying as well.
The last photos were quite special.
They had been a remake from one of the past photos in every section. Though there was only four sections(not including the last one) the last one had been a last family photo. Tommy and Wilbur were much older and taller than they were in the pervious sections. They were actually taller than Techno and Phil themselves.
But that wasn't all. No, no, it really wasn't.
In the bottom on the last page, it had the handwriting of Tommy and Wilbur, and a little note from them.
Hey Techno and Phil! How are you doing? I know you'll miss us, you've told us a million times, but we'll miss you too. I'm sorry for everything I've done in the past, but in the end we made it alright, eh? I love you two, more than you'll ever know. -W
EYYYY! BLADE, DADZA, YOU TOO GOOD?! Sorry if I should be more formal, btw. I don't really know what to say, you've all been so good to me. I love you guys a lot, and I don't really feel like leaving you yet. But I guess time is on no one's side, right? Love you guys, anyway. DID YOU HEAR THAT?! OH I'LL SAY IT LOUDER! I LOVE YOU TWO! -best man Tommy
It was as though Phil and Techno could hear their voices. Maybe they were. Maybe Tommy and Wilbur were reading the notes out beside them.
In the end, the past is always in the back of your mind, it never goes away. Tommy and Wilbur will never be not apart of Techno's and Phil's lives. They will never go too far away.
The past never dies, does it?
