In a darkened makeshift security office, one of the guards was watching a screen full of black and white camera angles. On the bottom left was movement, and he turned to alert the man behind him.
"I got Ford on the third floor exiting the elevator. Spencer's on the main level heading up the stairs to level two."
Sterling walked up to the monitors for a closer look. Nate's team was good, but they'd underestimate Nevins and her presence should throw them off of their game just enough to make a mistake. He knew they wouldn't underestimate him like they would her, so he'd been careful to put cover in place for himself.
The man watching the screens spoke again, keeping the other guards informed of their target's moves. "Ford's out of sight. I got Parker entering the elevator on the fourth floor, where's she going Jeff?"
"I got an elevator request for the 21st floor from her location. Looks like they're gonna hit Dalco's servers."
Sterling smiled, the team had just shown their hand. He knew they were going to hit someone in the Reliant Building thanks to the bug he'd had put in Eliot's truck, but didn't know who the actual target was until now. He radioed to the other agents. "Alright everyone, their target is the 21st floor. Get a team up there now."
A group of three guards got in the elevator on the main level and hit the button for the 21st floor. After several minutes one of them came over the radio. "Twenty-first floor is clear, no one here. Third is clear as well. I need a location on Spencer."
The man in the office saw their target on the screen and radioed back. "Got him, level two going for the staircase. He'll be heading up. Lock the elevator doors there and head down the stairs, team C go up from level one and box him in."
The guards on level three immediately moved to the staircase while the ones on the first floor went up. The two groups came together and did a sweep of level two but Eliot was no where to be found. One of them radioed back. "We need an updated location, he's not in the stairwell or on level two."
Back in the security office the guard checked the monitors again, a look of confusion taking over his expression as he saw a flurry of movement. "What the hell? Now I see him on levels five, six, and twelve. Ford is on at least six screens here, and Devereaux is on almost all of the others."
Sterling saw Nate's play, and reached past the guard to grab the radio again. "They're trying to confuse us, spread us too thin. Everyone hold your positions until we have visual confirmation. Team B stay on the twenty-first floor, do not leave that level unattended."
"10-4. "

Downstairs, Parker was pushing a cart with refreshments to the meet and greet. She was wearing her catering uniform and a red wig compliments of Sophie, and slowly headed towards the refreshment table where Caldwell was chatting with another man. She spoke quietly into her com. "Why am I doing this again? I thought Sophie was supposed to get the card."
"Because we don't know if there are any other agents hiding in the crowd," Nate answered. "You can hide your face, but Sophie's accent would be a dead giveaway. Just keep your head down and try to make this quick." He didn't particularly like sending Parker in for this part, but she was the easiest member of the group to disguise.
The grifter was in the hallway, keeping an eye out for Nevins. "And besides, didn't you want to trade roles?"
"I wanted you guys to trade roles, then I can focus on just the fun part. Like counting money, or diamonds..."
Hardison could tell what Parker was thinking, with all those rich folks around her just begging to be pick-pocketed. "Now remember mama, just the entry card. If you swipe the whole wallet he'll notice too soon."
She kept her voice at a whisper. "But think of how much money could be in there..."
Nate chimed in. "Just the card Parker, nothing else. And keep your hands off of those forks."
She wasn't really sure how Nate knew she was eyeing the forks, but figured it must be some kind of nifty superpower. "But they're so shiny...and there's so many of them..."
Sophie quickly butted in. "Alright Parker, Nevins just left for the bathroom. Make your move. And remember, be cordial."
Parker rolled her eyes as she pushed the cart towards Caldwell and his companion. "Excuse me," she muttered as she reached right between them to place some clean glasses on the table. Sophie cringed at her less-than cordial greeting, while Eliot sighed and rubbed his eyes.
As the thief returned her now-empty hands back to her cart she skillfully fished Caldwell's wallet out his jacket pocket.
The two men stared at her, both offended by her blatant disregard for personal space. Caldwell didn't say anything, but the other did. "You mind, ma'am? You could've just asked us to move."
Ma'am, she thought as she eyed his unreasonably expensive belt buckle. Freaking drugstore cowboy. At this point she really wished she would've ignored Nate and grabbed that damn fork anyway.
Under the table she quickly rifled through the wallet, searching for the card by feel. "Sorry about that," she said unapologetically. "I'm almost done."
Parker grabbed a wad of napkins and reached between them again, slipping the now cardless wallet back into Caldwell's pocket just before dropping the napkins on the table in a haphazard pile. "There you go. Enjoy the party." With that she pushed the cart away, leaving the two men shaking their heads behind her.
