With the new year of Sakura's junior year of highschool, came the budding of a brand new relationship. Sasuke and Sakura were never very close by any means. In fact, Sakura had maybe said a handful of words to the guy. Sakura had decided to sit next to Sasuke and Shisui Uchiha during lunch one day during fall and found out that his presence was very enjoyable. She never intended to like him, after all she was already in a relationship at that time. She was informed of his and Ino's relationship, and Sakura, knowing how Ino is, had a stern talk with the blonde babe.
"Break his heart, Ino, and I'll break your face."
"Mah, mah, Forehead. You're just jealous"
"Hardly, Pig."
Their "relationship" lasted two weeks before Ino was bored and decided to move on. Sakura couldn't help but feel a pang of relief.
Not much longer, her own relationship had ended. Sakura couldn't help but feel sad, but recovered at a speed that even shocked herself.
In time, Sasuke and Sakura become close friends. Late night calls about everything and nothing. Playing video games until ungodly hours of the morning. It got to the point that even thinking of Sasuke's name gave her butterflies.
Everything changed during their junior trip. Every Christmas time, it's tradition that every junior class goes to the mountains on a week's retreat to bond. It was nothing short of blissful, and during their time on the mountain, Sakura and Sasuke's relationship grew as well. Upon returning home, Sakura, never one to be open with her feelings, told him how he felt, only to have them reciprocated.
They started dating late January. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Sakura and Sasuke against the world. They were perfectly compatible, and it made them wonder why they hadn't become friends long before then. Every free moment they had were spent with each other. They were happy.
They had become so close, they knew every little quirk and were as inquisitive to each other as they were to themselves. Sakura had never felt so close to someone as she did with Sasuke. Vice versa.
Summer came and went, and before they knew it, they were starting their senior year. Midway through their second quarter, everything took a turn. Sakura's mother had found out the nature of the relationship, and had broken them up. Sakura had been raised in a strict household which prohibited anything of the sexual nature premaritally. Sasuke had not actually been her first, yet she had a sneaking suspicion that would not make her mother feel any better.
They were so in love, they couldn't be broken apart. It was easy because Sakura could see him at school, but was banned from him permanently. She hated lying to her mother, but to her, Sasuke was worth it.
They agreed they would date until the end of the year, but Sakura had decided to not go into college freshly heartbroken and she refused to sneak around and lie to her mother all summer; all for fleeting moments with Sasuke.
They were as happy as they could be despite their circumstances. If anything, this made them stronger and just made them fall more in love. Time really does fly when you're in love, because their graduation was impending upon them like a dark cloud. A usually happy time was also their due date. Truly the end of an era.
As you can imagine, ending a relationship you do not want to after being with the love of your life for a year and a half was not easy. They went on their favorite date and watched the sunset on the bench of their favorite park. They whispered sweet nothings and wished each other the best. Their decision was to cut off all contact so they could heal, but the idea was in time, to become friends again. Sakura drove him home and kissed him goodbye, tasting the salt on both of their lips.
To everyone's dismay, Sakura seemed pretty alright in the aftermath. Ino was fully prepared for a depressive episode, yet Sakura displayed no sign of one.
The first guy Sakura got with after Sasuke was no surprise at all. It was her best friend, Sai, the guy she told Sasuke not to worry about. She never cheated on Sasuke. She never even dreamt of it, but Sasuke had such a disliking towards, Sakura often found herself torn between the guy she could not even be with anymore, and her best friend who offered nothing more than friendship. It was a drunken one night stand about three days after the breakup. Something Sakura and Sai laugh about to this day, but something that never happened again.
The second guy Sakura got with after Sasuke was more of a surprise than anything. He was a year younger than herself, and the casual hookups they had over the summer left her nothing short of satisfied.
Because of their relationship ending, she had been pushed out of their social group, forcing her to befriend old acquaintances. Not that she had a problem with it, she had missed them a lot, but she also missed her old friends. Unfortunately, the word she received from Naruto made her heart sink.
Sasuke had been saying awful things about her. She's whoring herself out. Sai and Ino were horrible influences on her. And to top it off. He was screwing around with a girl she used to call her friend. Not anymore. He had also gone off on his friends for even speaking to her, and to her defence they all stood up for her. Sakura had enough and called him out.
You are not friends with my friends.
Do not let me see your face after this.
Don't blame anything on me Sakura, because deep down we both know whose fault it was.
I've been taking the blame for the past few months and not getting real mad because your mental health has always worried me and I was scared of what you might do to yourself.
Oh hell no. In the end, Sasuke had been very manipulative. Always putting his emotions on her, making Sakura constantly apologize for things she shouldn't have. He was controlling, telling her to go home, always needing to know her location, and not trusting her. Hell! One of the last conversations they had, Sasuke proceeded to say, "Sakura, if I hadn't known we were going to break up soon, I would have broken up with you a long time ago."
That had made her feel used. Made her awful. If she had only known he felt that way she would have never slept with thim.
"What about all the times we had sex, Sasuke! What about then?"
"That was my way of showing you love. I did not feel that way in the moment." Sakura believed him. Now, she saw what a manipulative, conniving piece of poop he actually was.
He called her mean. No. Sakura wasn't mean. She just lost all patience with him. She snapped whenever he did, which was quite often, causing them to fight, fuck, then start all over. Yet, they rode it out to the end.
Sakura ended up just wishing him the best in life and blocked him on everything, and never thought twice about it. He had his new girl, she had whatever the hell she had. She was content. Eventually they went to college and if it weren't for the occasional memory on Snapchat, she would have no evidence that the guy even existed in the first place.
Sakura doesn't regret it. Sure she probably lost a lot of friends in the process, but she had learned a lot from their relationship. Sakura could've easily held a grudge, but decided to be mature about it. At one point in time, he had made her very happy and she's positive with his own personal maturity, he will be able to make someone else very happy. That doesn't mean she ever wanted to see him again. There's no point in watering a dead flower.
All of these memories are in fact my own. This is my story. It feels so good to write it down! Again, I hold no grudges. Funny, strangers I will never meet know more about my feelings than some of my closest friends. Happy reading:) (I promise he's not a bad guy. He just has a lot of growing up to do.)
