Singing Voice chapter 3
"I came looking for you." Chloe states.
Eddie isn't pleased; he heard what she said. "I heard you, that's no way to talk to Loren."
"I was reminding her of her place."
"Your place is at the dining room." He grabs her arm, Eddie turns and smiles at Loren, he whispers. "Sorry." to her.
Loren whispers back. "Thank you."
She can't stop smiling, weeks ago she could only dream of meeting Eddie Duran, and now he's talking to her.
Loren gets the boys ready for their bath; Kelly walks into the boy's room with Katy, she wants to see the boys.
"Katy, you remember Loren?"
"Of course, how could I forget such a beautiful young lady, nice to see you again."
"Thank you Mrs. Duran, nice to see you too."
"Katy wants to see the boys." Katy walks towards the boys; they're wearing their pajamas.
"Is there anything you need me to do?" Loren asks Kelly.
"They'd love you to read to them before bed."
"Of course." Katy sits with the boys for a while. "I hope to have grandkids one day."
Kelly smiles. "I'm sure Eddie will marry one day and give you grandkids."
Katy rolls her eyes. "Hope it's not with the twit he's dating."
Loren can't help it, she giggles. Katy turns towards her. "You agree, I'm sure."
"No comment Mrs. Duran."
"Please call me Katy, you're making me feel old with the Mrs. Status."
"Oh I couldn't, you're the amazing Katy Duran."
She walks towards her. "I'm asking you too."
Loren blushes. "Thank you Katy, if you insist, I will."
Max walks in. "I knew you'd be up here sweetheart."
"I had to see Ethan and Eric, who knows when we will have grandkids."
Max holds his wife by the shoulders. "We've been through this before." He turns and smiles at Loren. "Hi, you're here today?"
"Yes Mr. Duran, watching the twins."
"No wonder these guys are happy; they have a beautiful nanny."
Loren blushes; it's a night of compliments from the Duran's, it's the highlight of Loren's evening.
"My boys are in love with Loren, right guys?" Kelly asks her twins.
Eric and Ethan both respond. "We love Loren."
"Thank you, I appreciate that." Loren responds.
"I think we should head out; it's way passed their bedtime." Max holds Katy's hand and guides her out of the boy's room.
"Goodnight sweet boys, have a good night Loren."
"Same to you both." Loren adds.
They leave, Loren reads to the boys, they fall asleep, she tucks them in, she quietly leaves their room.
She comes down and walks towards the dining room area, everyone left. "I'm leaving Kelly; the boys are asleep."
"Thanks, Jake and I will be going up to see them; I'll put a little extra money on this week's check."
"Sure, no problem." Loren grabs her bag and walks out looking for her keys.
"You're leaving too huh?"
She jumps at the sound of the voice. She sees Eddie's leaving, he walks towards the elevator.
"I'm done for the day." Loren says.
"Listen, I'm sorry about Chloe."
"It's ok, thank you for coming to my rescue."
The elevator doors open and they both step in. "Do you have a way of getting home?"
"Yes, I have my car."
The doors open, they exit the elevator. "Do you enjoy watching the boys?"
Loren can't look at him. "Yes, I love kids, those two little guys are really sweet."
"Kelly's relieved she found you, they're very busy, you're taking a load off their hands."
Loren stops when she reaches her car. "I'm glad; you have a good night Eddie."
He smiles and winks. "You too."
Loren's in her car, she can't stop smiling. Eddie knows her name, he seems to enjoy talking to her, she wonders where Chloe is, it doesn't matter, she's happy she was able to talk to him again.
Loren stays busy with the boys and school. She's able to keep up with both. Running into Eddie is the best part of her job, he's always sweet and charming, she's smiles a lot lately.
She takes the boys to the park, then they're home having their lunch. They start to play with the piano in Jake's living room. Loren sits next to them and begins to play and sing, they watch her sing a cover song by Lady Antebellum. "Just a kiss" The chef checks to see who's singing beautifully. He peeks into the room and finds Loren playing the piano and singing. Kelly comes down to check on dinner and listens to Loren sing. She stops playing the piano, Kelly applauds.
"That was amazing, Loren."
Loren blushes. "Thank you, I didn't know you were there."
Eric tells Loren. "Sing more."
Kelly approaches her. "Have you ever thought of a singing career?"
"Oh no."
"You have a beautiful voice; you need to share it with the world."
Loren isn't quite sure if she's serious. "I want to be a lawyer."
"Listen to yourself, I have to I'll bring Katy and Max to listen to you, I'm sure they'll agree with me."
Loren gets up and looks at Kelly. "Are you serious?"
"This is my job, you have an amazing voice, my boys were at awe listening to you sing."
Loren remembers her mom complimenting her singing all the time.
"I don't know, singing relaxes me."
"I will have Jake and the Duran's here sometime this week, I'm sure they'll agree that you're brilliant."
Loren blushes, she can't imagine singing in public; she can't see herself doing what Eddie does so well.
When Loren's home, she shares the news with her mom. "I've always told you that you have a beautiful voice; you never believe me."
"I know, but this is Kelly's job, hearing her say it, I don't know, made me very nervous."
Nora hugs her. "Now do you believe me?" Loren smiles, she leans on her mom. "Yes, I do."
Kelly keeps her promise, a few days later, she brings Katy and Max Duran to their penthouse, Loren fed the boys lunch. "Can you come here Loren?"
Loren walks into the living room area. Kelly kept her promise; the Duran's are there along with Jake.
"Could you play and sing a song?"
She looks at Kelly, Jake and the Duran's. "Are you serious?"
"Yes, I told you I'd bring them here to convince you, pick any song."
Loren bites her lower lip. "I know many songs; you pick one."
Jake interrupts. "Do you know one of Eddie's? One day at a time?"
Loren nods. "Yes I do."
"Let's hear that one."
Loren sits at the piano. She begins to play and sing.

Loren continues the song, Eddie looks for Jake at the office, when he doesn't find him or Kelly, he takes the elevator to the penthouse, he hears Loren, he stands there and listens to her finish one of his hit songs, she does it perfectly.
Loren's done, Katy, Max along with Jake applaud. Eddie walks in clapping loudly. "That's amazing."
Loren's humbled at their praises, she's blushing even more when she realizes Eddie listened to her sing one of his songs.
Kelly walks towards her. "Now do you believe me? You have what it takes."
Jake agrees with Kelly. "So many people come to see me with the hopes of having a music career, my wife is right, you can be the next Demi Lovato, Katy Perry or Taylor swift."
"I sing for fun, I never imagined I could get any further; thank you."
Katy has something to say. "Loren, they're right, I think you should give it a try, you sang that song perfectly, I'd love to hear it as a duet with Eddie, I will gladly help you."
Loren's in shock. "That would be amazing."
"Let me help you." Katy insists.
"What about school?" Katy holds her hand. "Let's give this a try; if it's not what you want then you have school to fall back on."
Loren can't believe what she's hearing. "I could put school on hold?"
Eddie smiles. "My mom won't take no for an answer, let her help you."
"Thank you all, this is something I want to talk to my mom first, before I decide."
"That's fair enough Loren, if your mom has any questions, she can give me a call." Katy tells her.
Max looks at Jake. "She's amazing."
"Kelly wanted us listen to her, she was very excited when she told me." Jake adds.
"Katy will see this through if Loren decides to go for it." Max assures him.
"I'm keeping my word to her Max." Jake adds.
Everyone leaves, Loren puts the boys down for a nap. She can't believe what she's been told, Kelly, Jake, Eddie and his parents said she has what it takes. She smiles, how many times did Mel tell her the same thing?
Later that evening, Loren's home, Nora's getting dinner on the table.
"Hey you're just on time sweetie, I hope you're hungry?"
"Actually I am; can we talk?"
Nora notices Loren's a little nervous. "Is everything ok?"
"Remember how you always told me I could sing?"
"Of course, you never believe me."
"Well, the other day, I played Kelly's piano and sang to the boys, Kelly heard me, today, she invited Max and Katy Duran, along with Jake to hear me sing, Eddie was there too, they said I have a chance of doing this professionally, Katy Duran offered to help me."
"Are you serious? I told you sweetie!"
"I know mom, but, I would have to take time off of school to do this."
"And the problem is?"
Loren sighs. "You know how much I want to be a lawyer, but, I love to sing, is this possible?"
"Of course it's possible honey, try it, you're blessed if Katy wants to help you, go for it Loren."
"Are you sure mom? This is a big step for me."
"Go for it, if it works out, fine, if it isn't what you expected then at least you gave it a chance."
Loren hugs her mom. "Thanks mom, I didn't know what to tell them until I spoke you about it."
After dinner, she calls Mel to share her exciting news. "I knew it; I'm very excited for you."
"I know, I'm talking to Kelly tomorrow, and Katy, I'm going to give this a shot."
"I've always said you have what it takes."
"I know Mel, thanks."
The following morning, Loren's gets ready to see Kelly before she starts to watch the twins, she's at the office at 8.
Jason's there making coffee when Loren walks in. "Aren't you suppose to start at 1?"
"I need to speak with Kelly."
"Your very early." Jason says.
"What time does Kelly come down?"
"Not until one. Why is something wrong?"
"No, it's personal, I'll see her later."
Jason gets close to her. "Are you seeing anyone?"
"No, I'm not." Loren steps back. "I'll be back later; I have some shopping to do."
He stops her before she can walk away. "When can you and I have lunch?"
Loren looks at him and tries to get away. "Please let go of my arm."
"Not until you say yes."
"You're hurting my arm, let go of me!" Loren pleads.
A voice from the doorway interrupts him from saying another word.
"She said, let go of her!"
