"Oh no..you know what, Cosmo.", Wanda said sheepishly, digging around her bag for her wand. "I forgot I didn't bring my wand with me. I ended up taking the bus because I wanted a night where I didn't have to use magic."
"Eh..don't worry about it. I'm sure that I-", Cosmo's sentence paused as he searched through his various tux pockets, "Well..haha funny story…I don't know where mine is. I forgot I need to limit my teleporting when I'm..oh wait, I walked over here! That's right. I completely forgot."
"Well, I guess there's no harm in taking the bus. Here just let me pay first.."
"Wait Wanda no! You don't have to- I-I organized this."
"Yes dear, but you're pregnant. It wouldn't be right to let you pay.", Wanda smiled, and before Cosmo could object any further, the waiter already took the card, making Cosmo feel guilty, "Don't worry about it. It's not good for the baby."
"I-I know but that's not fair to you. You knew how expensive this place is, and I was the one that invited you out."
"Eh, $200 isn't a whole lot to me."
"Yeah, but just for dinner?"
"Dad sent me a good bit of money for my birthday last week. I've been meaning to do some special anyways. Thank you.", Wanda kissed Cosmo on the cheek, his shoulders relaxing a bit, "I guess we'll have to take the city bus?"
The two got up and flew towards the bus stop near the restaurant, Wanda holding Cosmo's hand to make sure he didn't fall over when the bus came, taking his hand and telling him to hold onto the rail as the two climbed on. To their surprise, the bus was crowded and the only available seat left as the one in the back of the bus. Cosmo motioned for Wanda to sit there, grabbing onto one of the rails.
"Here..you can have it."
"Cosmo no. You need to sit down. Not me."
"B-But you're my wife!"
"And you're my pregnant husband, now take a seat. Besides, I think the baby wants its daddy to sit down.", Wanda winked, making Cosmo blush slightly as he took a seat, the stares everyone was casting going away. Cosmo thought Wanda deserved the seat more than he did, but then again he didn't want her to get in trouble for taking a seat from a pregnant man. Wanda grabbed the handle and smiled gently as his slightly swollen stomach.
"Wow..I can't believe it. We must be the luckiest fairies alive."
"Mhm."
"Cosmo, what's the matter? Is your stomach bothering you?", Wanda asked, noticing Cosmo's less than related posture and a frown on her face, "You want me to get a trash can?"
"No it's just…what are we gonna tell our moms and dads? I mean, your dad doesn't like me, and my mom…yeah I don't even wanna know what my mom will do."
"Well, Mama Cosma isn't exactly the nicest person..but you know, we're adults now, and we don't have to tell them every last little detail."
"I-I just feel so bad though."
"And why should you? Nora's done nothing but make your life a living hell ever since you were born. I don't understand why you keep catering to her. If you ask me, she's lucky you're still even talking to her, let alone telling her important things like this. "
"Well..I don't know..I've always hoped that someday, she'd see the error in her ways and apologize. To my siblings, to my father, and me. As a kid, I tried to cling to her because I wanted my mama in my life, but she kept pushing me away. Calling me names like stupid and worthless. You have no idea how many times she told me I was just like my father."
"Is that a bad thing? Your father is a very lovely person."
"No, it's not. It's funny. Literally anyone looks evil compared to him. I have no idea how he's so sweet to people, all the time. It's almost sad really that he gets treated the way he does. But I dunno..I just wish my mom loved me as well. I mean, I didn't ask to be here."
"Cosmo, as much as I hate to admit it, you can't make your mother change. If she doesn't want to change, then she's not gonna change. I'm sorry.", Wanda sighed, "Look, I'll let you make the call on your parents, but I haven't decided on my mom and dad just yet. I doubt my mom will care, but I don't really want my dad to bust through the door and try to kill you."
"He wouldn't kill a pregnant person, would he?"
"I dunno. This is Big Daddy we're talking about. He almost shot someone because she owed him money, and a lot of it."
"Geez."
"Yeah. To be fair though, the woman stole from him and Big Daddy was gracious enough to give her time to pay it back. She didn't make her deadline."
"Still, I don't think that's a reason to try and kill someone."
"Yeah well, what can you do? No one stands up to Big Daddy. He doesn't play.", Wanda said, helping Cosmo up from the seat as they arrived home, "Well, we don't have to make a decision right now since your pregnancy has just started, but I think if we do allow our parents into the process, we need to have a serious talk about boundaries."
"Yeah. I feel you. Last time was absolutely out of control.", Cosmo laughed before kissing Wanda on the cheek, "I love you. How did I get so lucky to have you?"
"Honey, I could be asking you the same thing. Both of you."
