The pain in his eyes chapter 6

(I love Katy in my stories!)

Katy is standing in front of them. "What's going on?"

"You scared me." Loren says while holding her chest.

"I came to get you, what does Eddie have to know?"

Mel looks at Loren, then looks at Katy. "I caught Chloe cheating on Eddie; I have it on this chip."

Katy lets out a loud screech, she hugs Mel. "I knew it! Omg, I knew she was cheating! How and when?"

Mel approaches Katy. "Loren saw them a few weeks ago, I saw today in the back while putting the stroller away, I caught the whole thing with my camera."

"You're my hero Melissa, I knew it, she can't fool me."

Loren sighs, Katy celebrate the news with Mel, Katy notices Loren's quiet. "What's wrong?"

She downcast her eyes. "This is going to hurt Eddie; I didn't want to get involved."

"Don't worry, I recorded them, it's my doing, I'm turning my chip over to Katy, I'm the one doing this." Mel tells Loren.

Katy knows Loren doesn't want to hurt Eddie. "You're very sweet, I'd rather he hurt now, and not when he's married to her."

Mel agrees. "I told you, it's better now; he can move on and find the right girl." Mel moves her eye brows up and down. "You never know, she could be standing in front of him and he doesn't realize it."

She winks at Loren; she looks at her best friend. "This isn't a game Mel; do you realize how much this will hurt him?"

"You have nothing to worry about, let me have that chip Mel, I'll make sure you get it back." Katy adds.
She hands it to Katy. "Take your time, when are you going to show him?"

"I have to talk to Max first, then we'll take it from there."

"I'd love to be there when you show him!" Mel's ecstatic.

"Mel! Why must everything be an adventure to you?" Loren questions.

Katy looks at Loren. "We have work to do, let's go downstairs."

She turns her attention to Mel. "Wait for Kelly, not a word about this to anyone."

"I know." Mel zips the sign across her mouth.

Loren heads down with Katy, she rehearses several of her songs before she records; Katy's very pleased, Loren's doing great, deep down she's worried about Eddie getting hurt.

Katy can tell Loren's upset. "Stop worrying Loren, he's going to be fine, he will get right back up."
"I know I just met him, I'm barely getting to know him, I can tell he's sweet, he doesn't deserve to be treated this way."

"I told him several times Chloe wasn't the right girl."

Loren gets her bag and Max walks in. "Hey Loren, how is it going?"

She smiles. "Great, I'll be recording soon, happy about that." She looks at Katy. "Right?"

"She's an amazing songwriter too, I'm proud to say Loren will succeed."

Max narrows his eyes. "Did you hear that? Not everyone gets Katy to admit something that huge."

Loren blushes. "I'm grateful for all of your help." She hugs them; Katy smiles and returns the hug. "I'm happy to be here for you."

"Thank you both, I better head home, see you tomorrow?"

"Yes, you'll be recording."

Loren heads out the door. "I'll be ready!" Max and Katy smile. "You're very proud of her aren't you?"

Katy looks at Max. "I know she'll succeed, she's very talented."

Max holds Katy by the shoulders and kisses his wife. "What does my beautiful bride want for dinner?"

Katy lets out a sigh, he notices. "What's wrong honey?"

"I'd rather eat at home; we need to talk?"

Max knows his wife very well, something's bothering her, he agrees, they stop to get some tacos and head home. They get home and Max places the food on the table, Katy gets the laptop from her office.

She powers it on. "I suggest we eat before we see this."

Max furrows his eyebrows, he's curious. "What are you showing me?"

"Let's eat, then I'll show you."

Loren's home, she heads to her room. She sits by the window in her room, she gets her guitar and strums the cords, she begins to sing, she has to be her best; she'll be recording the songs she's written. Nora walks in, she smiles when she hears Loren singing. She tippy toes to her room, she doesn't want to interrupt her, she leans on the side of the door, Loren's done, Nora walks in clapping. "You sound better than ever sweetie."

Loren places her guitar down. "Thanks, guess what? I'm officially recording tomorrow."

Nora's very excited for her daughter. "I'm so proud of you." She pecks her nose with a tender kiss.

Loren pulls her mom into a hug. She knows she will always have her support, always encouraging her to do her best.

Back at the Duran's…

Max clears the table after they're done eating, Katy isn't saying much, he's trying to figure out what she's going to show him, and what it's all about. "Honey, what is it?"

Katy places the chip into her laptop. "Mel caught Chloe on tape; we have to figure out a way to tell Eddie."

"Mel? Loren's friend? Caught her doing what?"

Katy points to her computer, their eyes widen when the image of Chloe kissing Tyler appears in front of them. Max stands up. "She's cheating with Tyler?"

"I knew it Max, I knew it, I've seen how they look at each other, I've been in Kelly's office and when they're there, I've caught them, but, I couldn't prove anything until now, Eddie has to know the truth, he can't marry her."

Max walks towards the door that leads to the patio. He slams it behind him, he's outside. Katy follows him.

"I'm sorry, I'm as angry as you are, I knew she's bad news from the start, I don't want to hurt our son, now we have proof."

Max looks at his wife. "I know, Eddie loves her, what will this do to him?"

"Whatever it does, it can't be worst then what we just saw, he's going to see Chloe for what she is, he'll get rid of her for good."

"I need a drink; I'm still processing this."

Katy walks towards the bar cabinet that holds the liquor. "What do you want?"

"Brandy on the rocks, how did Mel get this?"

"Apparently Loren caught them a few weeks ago, she's worried about Eddie getting hurt, she didn't want to say anything or get involved, they took the boys to the Zoo earlier today, Mel was in the back storage room putting the stroller away, that's when she saw them, she was carrying her video camera, she recorded what we saw."

Max can't stop sighing. "I wonder how long she's been doing this."

"I don't know Max, but, I've been suspicious since day one, I don't trust her, the moment I saw Chloe looking at Tyler, I knew something wasn't right. I knew she would hurt our son."

"Now we have to tell Eddie, I hope he doesn't think we've been spying on her?"

"We didn't record this, Mel caught them, I'm glad she did, you can hear her tell Tyler she loves him and vise verse, something was about to happen, Mel stopped it before anything happened."

Max takes a sip of his drink, he knows Eddie's in love, he's serious about his relationship with Chloe, he wants to marry her because he wants to spend the rest of his life with her, now we have to confront him with this.

Meanwhile, Eddie's leaving the Avalon, he's performing in a few weeks, he calls Chloe, he gets her voicemail, he smiles, he's sure she's home resting, he remembers she had an early shoot this morning. He wants to surprise her; he drives to her place, she isn't there. He takes his key to open the door, but, he decides to walk back to his car, he looks at his watch, he's going to stop and visit his parents.

Eddie's on his way, his phone rings, he stops on the side of the road, it's Jake, he needs to see him now.

"I'll see you in a few."

Eddie stops at Jake's office. "Sorry I bothered you, Kelly and I were listening to a song Loren wrote, I think it will sound better as a duet, you two were amazing with one day at a time, this song is amazing, we can't afford to ignore this."

"Can I hear it?"

"She called this song, "If there was no music, I think it has potential."

Kelly smiles. "She recorded it earlier, listen to it, I'm sure you'll agree with us, it's better with two voices."

Kelly plays the song; he listens to the Lyric's. Jake watches for a reaction to the song; Eddie smiles, Kelly stops it half way. "What do you think?"

"It's a great song, we can do a duet, anything to help Loren with her career."

"Your mom is really excited for her, if the fans hear the two of you again; they will freak out, this has potential."

"I know, mom's excited about this, I'm on my way to see them, I'll mention it to her; I think it's a great idea."

Jake and Kelly smile. "We'll make arrangements for you and Loren to record it."

He heads towards the door. "See you guys later."

Eddie drives to his parents' home; he finds them sitting in the dining room.

Katy smiles when she sees him walk in. "What a lovely way to end the evening."

He shrugs his shoulders, he hugs and kisses his mom. "Can't seem to find Chloe today, I thought I'd stop by."

"We're your second choice?" Katy asks, she takes a plate of leftovers out of the fridge.

"I'm starving mom."

"I'll put this in the microwave for you."

"I stopped by Jake and Kelly's just now, Jake thinks one of the songs Loren wrote will sound better as a duet, I told them I'd tell you, I heard the song, I think it's a hit."

Katy takes the plate out of the microwave oven and places it on the table. "If you think it's a good idea, let's do it, Loren's very talented; she sings and writes songs, just like you."

Max sits at the table, he opens the laptop. "Son, can you sit and talk?"

Eddie gets a fork and begins to eat. "Sure, can I eat first? What's up?"

Katy sits next to Eddie and looks at Max, he's enjoying his plate of food, she knows Max is going to show him what they have on the chip.

Eddie inhales the plate of food; he places it in the sink, he turns towards his parents. "I'm done." He looks at them. Katy sighs. "We came across this, apparently Mel shot it with her video camera."

"Loren's friend?"

Max interrupts. "Yes, please watch, and stay calm, we think it's better you find out now, then later."

"You two are beginning to worry me, what is it?"

Max hits the button to make the video restart. Eddie's eyes widen when he realizes what he's looking at. "Is that Chloe with Tyler?" He stands up.

"Yes, Mel caught them behind the storage room of Jake's office, she had her video camera, she recorded this."

Eddie's demeanor changes, he sees Chloe kissing Tyler, the video stops the moment things got more serious.

"Did you guys have her followed?"

Katy steps in. "No! Mel happened to be nearby, Loren caught them a few weeks ago, she was worried about hurting you, she didn't say anything, this has been going on for a while, she's cheating on you with Tyler."

"I haven't been able to find her all day." Eddie walks towards the door. "Where does Loren live?"

"What for?" There's concern in Katy's voice.

"I want to hear it from her and Mel, where can I find them?"

"She's in Tarzana, on Lane Street, the first house on the corner, I believe the address is 518."

Eddie grabs his keys and walks out. Katy and Max look at each other. "Should I warn Loren?"

"No, let him talk to them, let Loren tell him what she saw, Mel will confirm our story."

Eddie can't drive fast enough; his hands hold the steering wheel tightly and firm. He arrives in the small suburb where Loren lives.

Both girls are getting ready to watch a movie; Nora's out with some friends for dinner.

The doorbell rings, Loren jumps to her feet. "That's our Pizza; don't play the movie until we have it on the table."

She opens the door. "Eddie?"

"Can we talk?"

"Hurry, I'm starving." She turns to see Eddie walking inside. "Good, Mel's here, I need to talk to you."

Mel gets up. Loren turns towards Eddie, she has this weird feeling this is about Chloe, he isn't smiling, he has a stern look on his face.

"I was at my parents, they showed me what you recorded Mel, can you tell me exactly what you saw?" He looks at Loren; he locks eyes with her. "I heard you saw Chloe and Tyler a few weeks ago, I need to know exactly what you saw."

Loren looks at him; there's pain in his eyes, the sound of the doorbell cuts through the silence in the room.

What will Loren say? Will she tell Eddie the truth? What about Mel?
