The flight back to Washington was uneventful, fortunately. Ater landing, I rented a car for the four-hour drive to Forks I was anxious to get to my father as fast as I could, though I knew he'd read me a new one if he saw I was speeding - being the chief's daughter meant following the rules, including the traffic ones.
So, after a long and drive, I can see the sign welcoming to Forks, pop. 3,845.
I drive straight to the hospital, as there is no place to go but there now. Leaving the car in the parking lot, I hurried to the reception desk.
"Excuse-me, I'm Isabella Swan, I'm here for Charles Swan."
"Good morning, Ms Swan, I supposed you'd like an update before dealing with the paperwork. I'll call Dr. Cullen to talk to you."
"I appreciate it."
Knowing that Carlisle is taking care of Charlie put my mind somehow in an ease. I knew Dad could not be in better hands.
'Miss, If you could follow me, please. The doctor will see you in a minute.'
'Thank you, and please, call me Bella."
She takes me through some corridors until we reach a room with Dr. Cullen's name on It. Funny, now that I come to think of it, last I knew Carlisle worked in the Pedriatric Ward, not surgery, but many things could change in ten years, right?
I'm waiting for about five minutes, when I hear a voice that plagued me for ages, whose owner I thought I'd never see again.
"Good morning, I'm doctor Cullen, you must be...", he freezes midsentence. Obviously whoever he was expecting, it wasn't me. He stares at me for what looked like ages, but in reality, probably just a few seconds.
I'm also quiet, lost for words. Our erratic heartbeats the only sound in the room.
"Bella?"
