It had been eight months. Eight months since the carbon copy of Lu had entered the world. Eight months that Lu had slept in Andy's guestroom.
Lu ignored the freezing cold as she stepped out of her bedroom in her oversized flannel pajamas, taking the short walk to what used to be an office but had now been turned into Rosa's room. She could see Andy carrying Rosa around the room – trying to get her to fall back asleep – through the crack in the door. She stood there for a minute, taking in the sight.
There had been some moments here and there where Lu had asked if she should move back to her own place, always as indirectly as possible and just to gauge Andy's reaction. Lu didn't want to leave, ever. And from what she could see neither Andy nor Rosa wanted the situation to change.
They had settled into a routine. It was comfortable.
Jonas had come to meet her and could barely stand to be parted with her when he had to leave for his plane, but his calls had somewhat dwindled since and through the grapevine Lu had heard that he was engaged now.
She didn't miss him; it wasn't him that she wanted anymore.
She pushed the door open into Rosa's room, startling Andy somewhat.
''I heard her up,'' Andy whispered, Rosa passed out in her arms. She laid her back down in her crib and followed Lu out of the room.
Lu rubbed her eyes, trying to wake herself a bit more despite yawning.
''It's still early, you can get some more sleep,'' Andy said, pulling the door shut behind her, wanting to go back to bed herself as the coldness from the hardwood floors ran up her legs.
Lu nodded slowly, grabbing Andy's hand and pulling her back into her bedroom, it taking just seconds for the two of them to fall back asleep beside each other.
