The nightmares are getting worse. Now I stood upon floating platforms of corrupted stones, Distorted against the background of neverending darkness. The cry came from all around as the new clear image appeared and I backed away. Unable to speak or breathe. Until I fell, reaching for anything that could possibly save me. I screamed and accidently woke up Shaymin while sweating.
"Oh, Sorry...It's just another nightmare"
"Are you sure? You look really scared"
"Y-yeah, I'm fine" I lied, and I think she could tell that I was.
"Platinum! You know you can't just hide your pain!"
"W-well, If I keep it hidden then people can't track my nightmares to my mom"
"Yeah...Sure like your face doesn't already say you don't sleep"
"I guess you're right, But I can't control them. I've had them for years"
"How long?"
"Since I was three, I was told that Darkrai attacked me"
"Darkrai!? That's impossible it doesn't attack anyone unless it's in the form of self Defense! We need to get everything in order!"
"What are you talking about?"
"Darkrai never attacked you, I refuse to believe otherwise!"
O-okay, But we're almost in Jubilife City, we should buy Camping supplies, Potions, and-"
"Except for one crucial detail. You don't have money"
"Oh...I guess I forgot. Doesn't matter we just need to keep on our way to find my Dad!"
"And to stop your nightmares!"
"O-oh right
Dawn
"Alright, If I cut through here I should be able to catch up to him before he gets too far," I told myself hopping onto my pink bike and setting it into the fourth gear to catch up to him. I knew it was harder to control but I needed to catch up so I needed speed.
"Don't worry Piplup, I know what I'm doing, Just hold on!" Piplup clenched onto my shirt, hugging my stomach in fear. But I had to stop him, There was no other option!
The hill was steep and riddled with trees making it difficult to avoid them. It was mostly swerving with scrapes introduced. "Owwww! Why is this so hard to control!"
Piplup just looked at me with an embarrassed face. "What!? Am I not good enough for you?"
"Pip!"
"I'm your trainer, That means you do what I say!"
"Lup" It shook its head.
"You! You! Oh nevermind, I have more important things to worry about" I shook my head, hopping back onto my bike, and continued to rush towards Jubilife city to catch Platinum before it was too late. Whether or not Piplup decided to help wasn't my concern for now. Before long, I had arrived, with sticks in my hair as well as scratches and scrapes on my skin it made it quite notable that I was in a hurry. It didn't look like Platinum was here yet, he had rather low stamina so chances were he was still minutes away from the town.
Platinum
The city was within sight, All that was left would be to head towards Shaymin's home, find any
clues of the terrorists, and then find my dad. That was the plan until of course, I heard a young shout. It was new to me.
"Hey! Hey you!" I looked around, Nobody was in sight as I just pointed to myself confused.
"Yes, You! You came into my sight! Now we battle!"
"W-wait, where are you!"
"I'm up here, of course!" They seemed to have come from the sky, though it's more likely they were in a tree. "Now let's battle!"
"I-is that really how it works? I'm not any good in battling!"
"You're a trainer, are you not?"
"Well, I guess I am"
"And when two trainers come into contact they battle! I just got this Pokémon!" I glanced at it for a second.
"Where'd you get that?"
"I found it in a Pokéball just lyin' around near here, Some weird guys dropped it in their matching clothes but they were already gone before I could return it to them"
"So that means they only got away with one of the Pokémon...I should have her return it, but then they'll know where I went...I have to make this quick"
"Hello? Are you okay? You're just standing there!"
"Oh, Yeah I'm okay, just thinking is all"
"Well stop then! You're being a roadblock! Let's battle!"
"Alright fine, Shaymin are you able to battle?"
"Of course! I need to get stronger to help you stop them!"
"Stop who? " They gasped," Wait did your Pokémon just talk!?"
"I-I"
"Don't bother lying, I doubt they'll believe you anyways. Let's just get this over with"
"S-Shaymin!"
"That's so cool! Alright Chimchar! Let's go! Use ember!" Chimchar dashed forwards, releasing a firey breath against Shaymin's body"
"S-Shaymin! Are you okay?"
"You're worried!? That was nothing!"
"Oh, thank Arceus...U-use Giga drain!" Shaymin rushed ahead, tagging Chimchar with a seed and draining its energy every time it came into contact. Chimchar barely had any time to react, neither did I. The match was over before I had even noticed.
"Aww...What's up with that! That's no fair!"
"S-sorry! I didn't realize Shaymin was that strong, I just met her yesterday!" I heard a shout from the city. It was female and familar as it spoke a command to a Pokémon.
"Wurmple! Use string shot!" Several threads wrapped around my arm as Dawn came running to try and catch me.
"What are you doing!?" I asked, struggling to release my arm.
"Platinum! You can't do this! You'll get yourself kidnapped or even worse, killed!"
"I have to! They have my dad! They attacked Shaymin's Home! They stole the Professor's research and Pokémon!"
"This isn't your fight! Let the gym leaders handle this!"
"Butt out of this! This is personal!' Shaymin shouted at her, cutting the string with her teeth before gesturing to run away into the forest. Now I knew that she would do anything in her power to get me back home. This would also mean I would need to stay under wraps, sooner or later I'll be on the news.
Dawn
"Oh! That Platinum!"
"Excuse me? Is something wrong with him? Why did you attack him?" The little boy spoke to me, in a worried tone. "Is he in trouble?"
"Hey, it's okay, no need to worry. Platinum's just going through some things, he's been hallucinating and he's trying to save his dad" I tried to smile to show he was going to be okay. "I'm trying to bring him back home to get him some help"
"Hallucinating? Is that bad?"
"Well, yes, He's seeing and hearing things that aren't there. He believes his Pokémon can talk"
"But it can talk! I heard it talk!"
"Are you serious? And are you sure he wasn't talking to himself as Shaymin?"
"Yes! He tried to stop Shaymin from talking to others!" He seemed to be getting emotional, as a Chimchar climbed up onto his head trying to cheer him up.
"Hey...Isn't that...Where did you get your Pokémon?"
"I saw some weird people drop a Pokeball but I couldn't return because they were in such a hurry"
"It must have been those people who stole from the professor! But it looks like it likes you a lot...It should be fine for you to hold onto it...can I ask you a favor?"
"What is it?"
"Can you follow Platinum and try to keep him out of trouble, He seemed to trust you"
"Right! Let's go, Chimchar!" Before I could say anything else, he was already gone. Now I had to use my money to get supplies, Tell Professor Rowan about Chimchar and then try to catch up to Platinum.
"That is concerning, but at least there's someone to keep Platinum safe, What will you do now?"
"I'm gonna keep trying to bring him home. I don't want him to get hurt"
"Right, Call me if you figure anything out, Good luck"
"Thanks!" I waved goodbye as a woman came up behind me once the call ended. They were a young adult, Their age ranging from nineteen to twenty-three. They were wearing a black and white dress, The bottom half being white while the top half was black. They appeared not too much taller than I was, but ended up crouching to my level to talk to me. Their hair was a shiny red, like they spent a lot of time fixing it the morning before.
"Hi there! I heard you were looking for someone! Do you need help?"
"I'd really appreciate that, thanks. But who are you?"
"Me? I'm Mars! Nice to meet you!"
"I'm Dawn, and likewise"
"So, this friend of yours, what does he look like?"
"Let's see...He's about the same age and height as me. He has brown hair, slightly tanned skin. He has a Shaymin with him, and the biggest giveaway is his eyes, Emerald green with eye bags, He doesn't get a lot of sleep"
"Does he stay up all night or something?"
"Not exactly, He's had severe nightmares since he was a kid, His father was looking for the Lunar wing but got lost at sea"
"I see, I'm sorry to hear that...But I'll do what I can to get him back"
"Oh, and he has nightmares when he's awake too, he calls them surges and when he gets one, that's when you want to try and bring him back, he'll be frozen for a few moments and won't be able to react as much"
"I'll do my best, which way did you see him go last?"
"I saw him head north"
"North huh, If I hurry I can cut him off at valley Wind-Works, feel free to meet me there later"
"Okay, I will"
Platinum
I came into a clearing, I was now in the middle of the forest with slight pants close behind me. "Stop following me Dawn! Just leave me alone!" It hurt for me to say that, but I still felt like this was my fight alone.
"Are you okay? You look sick!"
"I'm okay...why did you follow me?"
"You look tired, I was worried about you, plus I want to travel with you and Shaymin, I've never met a talking Pokemon before!"
"l-like I said, I'm okay. And it's not safe to be around me, I have to do something dangerous"
"Isn't it more dangerous to go alone? Besides Shaymin is strong enough to protect us both"
"Platinum's right, This is too dangerous for you!"
"But I can help you! I'm a Pokemon Trainer too!"
"No,"
"B-but, this is important to you, you should at least get people who won't just try to keep you from danger"
"I-I...Fine..." I looked away, agreeing to him no matter how little I wanted not to, he held a fair point
"Yay! We're gonna be best friends!"
"I guess so..."
"Platinum? Are you sure this is a good idea?"
"I'm not sure...He has a good point, and right now I can't trust too many people because they'll just try to take me home"
"I guess you're right, but he's really young, he doesn't know what you're up against"
"I don't have any other choice..."
"I understand...We should at least tell him how he can't talk about us to anyone"
"Is something wrong?" They asked us
"N-no, it's nothing. But listen...er..."
"Louis, Or call me Loie"
"Louis, I ran from home because this is dangerous and important. You can't tell anyone about who I am or where I'm going. Sooner or later there'll be police looking for me to bring me back"
"I won't tell anyone!"
"Thank you, Anyways, I'm heading towards Full Moon Island, so I'm heading north"
"Full Moon Island? But can't you get there from Canalave city?"
"Yeah, but I'm being followed by Dawn, and eventually everyone will be looking in case they hadn't already. I know how to sail so it'll be safer to go a different path"
"Oh, you can sail!? That's amazing!"
"I didn't know you could sail"
"I didn't think it was important enough to mention"
"I guess that's fair. Let's get going!"
"Right, Louis, are you going with us?"
"Of course!"
