Boyfriend? Chapter 10

He hugs Loren. "I called you at home, your mom me told me where I could find you."

"I didn't think I'd see you so soon." Loren says.

"I know; I see you're a Superstar."

Eddie looks at them; he clears his throat loud enough to be heard. Loren blushes, she had forgotten he was there. "Eddie this is Phil Sanders, Mel's brother, Phil, I'm sure you know who this is?"

Phil smiles. "Of course I know." He extends his hand. "Nice to meet you Eddie."

Eddie responds the same way. "Same here Phil."

Phil's attention turns towards Loren. "I hope we can do dinner?"

Loren sighs. "I'd love too; I really want to go home."

"Now that you're busy, no time for your old friends."

Loren hugs him. "We'll do dinner before I leave for Vegas, deal?" He asks.

Phil flashes a smile Loren can't resist. "I promise Phil."

"I'll see you later, nice meeting you Eddie." He hugs Loren and walks away.

"Yeah same here." Eddie turns to Loren. "Boyfriend?"

"He's my best friend's brother, we dated a few months while I was in high school, he travels for work, he's been away for months."

Katy stops her car by them. "You two ready to go?"

"I'm sorry, yes we are."

Eddie opens the door to let Loren into the car, he gets in, they drive away with Katy in tow.

While in the car…

"You and Phil still close?"

"He was my first boyfriend, really sweet, it was awkward to date my best friend's brother, Mel drove me nuts, call Phil, do this, do that, Phil and I decided we'd stay friends."

"You weren't in love."

She looks at Eddie questioning his statement. "Why?"

"If it's true love, no one can get in your way, not even your best friend."

Loren sighs and looks out the car window. "I can't wait for that." She doesn't want to look at him, deep down she knows what that it feels like to be in love, he's right, the feeling she's experiencing now wasn't how she felt when she dated Phil. She's quiet for the rest of the ride home, before they stop at Loren's home, Eddie asks. "Are you going to be okay Loren?"

"I feel a little shaky, I'll be fine."

Nora walks out when she sees the car. "Why didn't you call me?"

Loren hugs her. "I'm fine."

Katy exits her car. "We called the police, they'll have an officer in front of your home for several days, we don't want to take any chances with Jason on the loose."

"Thank you Katy." She looks at Eddie. "Thank you."

Katy hugs them. "See you tomorrow Loren."

Eddie smiles. "Try and rest Loren, call if you need anything."

"Thank you." Nora holds Loren and they walk back into the house, before Katy and Eddie leave, a patrol car stops in front of Loren's home, Katy tells him what she needs him to do, she shows him a picture of Jason.

Nora closes the door behind her. "Go and take a warm bath, I want you to rest, I'm sorry you went through that."

"I know mom, I very scared, grateful Eddie came to my rescue."

Nora tries to hide her smile. "Your knight and shining armor huh?"

Loren rolls her eyes, she smiles; she walks into the bathroom, a warm bath is exactly what she needs right now.

The following weeks…

Loren prepares for her official first out of state concert, she'll open for Eddie in Vegas. They're flying to Vegas, in a few days, she has a quick dinner date with Phil.

"This superstar life style suits you very well; you look very beautiful Loren."

Loren blushes. "You're very sweet Phil."

"I mean it; something about singing in public makes you look glamorous."

"Sometimes I feel like I'm dreaming."

"I've heard you sing, we always said you had potential, you have the voice of an angel Loren, I'm glad you're doing this."

"I wasn't expecting this, I was babysitting Kelly's twins, I sang to them, here I am."

Phil nudges Loren in the arm. "Has anyone won your heart with all of this fame?"

Loren sighs. "No, I just started Phil, I left school aside to give this career a chance, I can't think of that right now."

"Really? You're lying."

"Phil!"

"I swear I saw you blushing the other night when I came looking for you."

She tries to focus on something else, she looks through the menu. "I don't know what you mean."

"Hey, we've known each other for a long time, you never looked at me the way you look at Eddie Duran."

"Ahhh come on Phil, he's a Rock star, it's not easy opening for him, he's helped me so much."

"I know; I can tell you've fallen for him."

She finally looks at him. "I've loved him the moment I heard him on the radio Phil."

"I know, but, this is different Loren, this isn't your everyday crush."

"We're friends Phil, I'm happy with that."

Phil smirks. "Really, just friends, I know you, you want something more with the Rock star."

"Right now, I'm happy to perform with him."

He hugs her. "It's ok, I hope he sees what we've seen, you're very special, he honored to have you in his life."

Loren pulls her hair to the side, she knows Phil won't let up. "Thanks, I doubt there will ever be anything between us, his fiancé cheated, he really cared for her, now he dates a different girl each week, and I doubt he'll see me that way."

"He will; he's not that dumb, he will notice, even if I have to tell him."

Loren's eyes widen. "Don't you dare!"

"I can't promise anything; I want to see you happy."

"Speaking of being happy, are you seeing anyone?"

Phil smiles, and downcast his look. "Yeah, I don't think you'll approve."

Loren narrows her eyes. "Why? Oh god, don't tell me it's Adrianna Masters?"

"Then I won't."

Loren hits him in the arm. "Phil! Not her, she's trouble."

"I know, she was while we were in high school, she's different Loren, we've been talking a lot, it's not the same Adrianna we knew back then."

Loren looks at him. "I trust your judgment, if I hear she's giving you hell, I will come looking for her."

Phil smiles. "You know you'll always be my girl Loren."

"You're sweet, let's order, I can tell the waitress keeps looking at us."

Phil turns to his menu; they order their food, and spend the rest of the evening chatting away.

Loren's on her way to Las Vegas with the Duran's, Mel's coming along to record the whole thing, she always dreamed of a career in video graphing, why not start with Loren's Vegas trip.

"Are we flying in the Duran Jet?" Mel wonders.

"Yes, I overheard Katy tell Kelly to call their pilot, I assume it's their Plane."

"This is very exciting, are you nervous?"

Loren sighs. "Don't remind me, this is my chance to show the world who I am, it's my intro into the music world out of LA."

Mel hugs her. "You're going to be huge."

"Let's get going, we don't want to be late on our first flight out of L.A."

Nora gives Loren a bag. "Here, these are some basic things you might need." "Thanks mom."

"I expect you ladies to help each other." Nora adds.

Both girls respond. "We will." They laugh, the Limo driver puts their entire luggage inside the limo, he drives them to the airport, he drops them off in front of the Duran Jet, several men load luggage and food into the Jet's lower compartment, they'll leave within the hour.

Katy smiles when she sees Loren and Mel. "I love it when people are punctual, something my own son hasn't picked up on."

"He isn't here yet?" Loren wonders.

Max walks towards them with Brenda the flight attendant. "I spoke to Eddie; he's on his way with Ian."

Katy rolls her eyes. "He's bringing Ian on this trip?"

"Yes honey, you know how much fun he has with Ian, it's his best friend, girls this is Brenda, our flight attendant, she'll make sure you're comfortable on our way to Vegas, if either one of you need anything, ask her."

Brenda smiles. "Nice to meet you Loren, I've heard so much about you."

Loren smiles. "Thank you so much, it's nice to meet you too."

Mel peeks from behind Loren. "Brenda, I'm Loren's videographer, nice to meet you, my name is Mel."

"Hello Mel nice to meet you." She turns towards Katy and Max. "I'm going into the kitchen to make sure everything is in order for our flight."

Mel nudges Katy's arm. "The flight to Vegas isn't that long, do we need Brenda?"

Max answers before Katy can get a word in. "Yes, she's always with us no matter where we go."

Mel looks around the Jet. "I could get use to this life style."

Loren looks for a place to sit. "I warning you, Mel's a handful, she isn't afraid to speak her mind."

"I know, don't worry, we need Mel to remind us we are normal people."

An Uber stops in front of the plane. Eddie jumps out, Ian is with him. "I'm here, no need to yell or panic."

Within the hour they're up in the air. Eddie brings Ian to meet Loren and Mel. "Hey girls this is Ian, my best friend."

Mel stands and shakes his hand. "Hello Ian, I'm Mel, it's nice to meet Eddie's best friend, I'm Loren's best friend."

"Hi Ian, nice to meet you." Loren says.

"Same here Loren."

His eye brows move up and down when he looks at Mel. "Well hello Mel." He kisses her hand. Mel takes his hand. "Looks like you and I have much to talk about." They walk into the next cabin. Eddie shakes his head. "She isn't shy at all huh?"

Loren shrugs her shoulders. "She doesn't know the meaning of the word."

Eddie furrows his eyebrows. "How are you and Mel best friends? You are so different."

"Different in a good or bad way?" Loren bites her lower lip, not quite sure if she wants to know the answer. Eddie smiles. "I mean it in a good way, she's outspoken and to the point, you're quiet and shy, can't figure you out yet."

Loren blushes; he has that effect on her. "What you see is what you get."

Eddie sits next to Loren and lays back on the seat. "You're pretty cool Tate."

Loren focuses on looking outside the window, she responds. "Thanks Duran, you're pretty cool yourself."

Brenda tells everyone they'll be landing soon; the seat belt light goes on, the plane lands and is directed to a secure area where a Limo awaits their arrival, they exit the plane, Mel looks at Loren. "I feel very important, this area is for celebrities only, aren't you excited?

"Yes, I'm officially nervous; I'm performing in front of millions of Eddie's fans, what if they don't like me?"

"Everyone says you're great, do you honestly think you'd be here if you weren't?"

There's a look of concern on Loren's face, they trail behind the Duran's to the waiting Limo. "I guess, I'm so glad you're with me, I need you more than ever."

Mel hugs her best friend, she reassures her. "I'm here, you're going to be great."

They enter the Limo; they're driven to one of the many Condos' the Duran's own in Vegas.

The driver takes their entire luggage into their place. Loren and Mel try to help. "Come in girls, they'll bring everything inside."

Loren grabs her bag, Mel does too. They head towards the main entrance, there's parked car a few feet away, an individual steps out of the car and gets close enough to see what the driver's doing. He holds his phone and takes a picture.

The person walks away unnoticed, they get into the car and makes a call. The person remains a few minutes in the car, then they drive away.

Who's this person watching the arrival of the Duran's at their Condo in Las Vegas? R&R guys
