The shot! chapter 13

Loren and Eddie are on the ground, Loren lands next to him, Ian's able to get close enough to Jason, he tackles him to the ground. Mel reaches for her phone to call the police, Max and Katy run towards Loren and Eddie, they're still on the ground, he rolls to the side holding Loren.

Katy kneels next to them; Max helps Ian hold Jason to the ground. "Are you guys hurt?"

Jason tries to loosen from their grip. "I'm not done with you Duran!"

Eddie looks at his hand, there's blood on it. "You're bleeding Loren!"

Loren opens her eyes; she buried her head in the crook of Eddie's neck.

"My shoulder hurts." Katy checks.

"Looks like the bullet graced your shoulder." Eddie looks at her. "You saved my life, you could have gotten hurt."

Katy starts to cry. "You're hurt sweetie." The police arrive along with the paramedic's; the police take Jason away in handcuffs.

Jason keeps yelling at Eddie. "I'm not done Duran, you and I aren't finished!"

"Shut up and get into the car." One of the officer's yells.

The paramedic's check Loren's shoulder. "You're very fortunate Miss Tate, it's a surface scratch, we could take you to the hospital?"

"No, we're heading home; I'll have it checked once I'm there."

Katy's worried. "Are you sure?"

"Yes Katy, I'm fine, let's go home."

The paramedics clean Loren's wound and cover it, they turn their attention to Eddie who sits quietly. Ian approaches him. "You're one lucky guy mate."

"I know; Loren could have gotten killed or seriously injured."

"She was very brave, don't know if you noticed, she jumped in front of the line of fire, pushing you to the ground."

"Let's go home." Max tells everyone.

"What about Loren? Is she going to the hospital?" Eddie wonders.

"She wants to go home." Eddie walks to Loren's side. "Are you sure? We could stay another day?"

"I'm sure, I'd rather sleep in my bed tonight, thank God Jason wasn't a good aim."

He makes eye contact with Loren. "Thank you, what you did took guts." She smiles. "I'm glad everyone is fine."

Within the hour, they board the plane. Loren sits in the front part of the plane, Katy's with her. "I'm not leaving your side Loren."

"I'm fine, please don't worry."

"I will worry Loren, you almost took a bullet for my son, your reaction was fast and quick."

"He would have done the same for me."

"Now I realize how much you love my son, thank you."

"There was hate in Jason's eyes, he was going to shoot Eddie; he wanted to kill him." Loren adds.

"There was a warrant for his arrest, I wonder how he was able to fly to Vegas, I'm surprised he got into a plane with no problems, Nora will freak when she finds out, she won't trust us anymore." Katy says.

"I called her, Kelly spoke to her, just in case any reporters go see her, she wanted your mom to hear it from us." Katy tells her.

Katy sits back on the seat. "I'd die if I heard through the media that my son was hurt."

"As soon as we get to L.A we're going to a hospital to get your shoulder checked, I'll feel better if a Dr. checks your shoulder."

Eddie sits quietly on the other side of the plane; he's still in shock, the thought of Loren pushing him away from Jason's fury keeps playing over and over in his head.

Max stops by with a cup of coffee. "Here, you could use this, I thought Ian was sitting with you."

"No it's fine, I'd rather be here alone with my thoughts, he's with Mel, you know Ian, girls go way before I do."

"Still the same old Ian huh?"

Eddie takes a sip of the coffee. "Can't wait to see who's going to settle Ian down."

"Get married?"

"Yeah, he's never getting serious, he's always having fun."

Max laughs out loud. "Isn't that what you've doing since you broke up with Chloe, you date a different girl each week, you did it in Vegas."

"Looking down the barrel of a gun helped me review every moment of my life."

"You're turning a new leaf?"

"I'm evaluating every step of my life Pops, never thought Jason would pull a stunt using a gun."

"He's jealous, he'll return to L.A to face charges."

"I'd rather not see him anymore." Eddie says.

Eddie looks towards Loren. "Why is mom with Loren?"

"Making sure she's ok, that was a very scary moment back there, what Loren did, took plenty of guts."

"I froze Pops, felt like I was dreaming, I saw the driver of the limo point a gun at me, I couldn't move, I froze, next thing I know, Loren is jumping in the line of fire."

"She was brave, pushing you out of the way, Jason had no idea how to handles a gun, I don't want to think what could have happened to you son."

Eddie leans back on his seat. "I owe Loren my life, eternally grateful to her."

"I'm glad she's in.." Max stops the moment he realizes he's about to say. Eddie furrows his eyebrows. "First mom and now you, what were you going to say?"

"Nothing important, let me check if there's more coffee."

Brenda announces they're landing, within the hour they're in the Limo. Loren sits quietly with Mel. Eddie's quiet and pensive. Ian's the only one making small talk with Max, Katy and Mel.

The limo stops at Loren's home, they help with her luggage, Mel gets her things too, both girls say goodnight. Katy asks. "What about your shoulder?"

Loren knows Katy is worried. "I'm ok, I'll go and see the Dr. tomorrow."

"I'm going to call you to make sure you do."

"I need you to have that checked." Eddie adds.

"I will, thanks."

The girls walk towards their home with their luggage. The Limo continues on its way.

Loren and Mel walk in, Nora's worried. "How's my girl? I've been so worried about you."

Mel jumps in. "She's a hero Nora, I wouldn't admit it in front of the Duran's, she saved Eddie's life."

Loren rolls her eyes. "You would have done the same."

"Not with a gun pointed in my direction." Mel says.

"He was pointing it at Eddie, not me!"

Mel gets a bottle of water. "You saved his life, by the way, she's supposed to go to the Dr. to get her shoulder checked."

"I'm fine Mel." She looks at her mom. "It's just a scratch, I'm ok."

"What's wrong Loren?" Nora asks.

Loren's trying to hold back the tears. "Nothing, I'm tired."

"I know you Honey, let's talk."

Nora guides Loren to the sofa, she starts to cry. "Jason scared me; I thought he was going to kill Eddie."

Mel tries to comfort her. "Everything is fine Lo, you were very brave."

Nora agrees with Mel. "No more heroic stunts sweetie."

Loren heads to her room, Mel and Nora look at each other. "What's wrong? Why is Loren crying?"

Mel bites her lower lip, it isn't her place to tell Nora what happened last night, she doesn't want to tell Nora that Eddie kissed Loren last night. "Everything is catching up to her, she had 2 great months in Vegas, then this happened, it was a scary moment."

"I'm going to make her some tea." Nora walks towards the kitchen.

Mel gets her bags. "I'm heading home Nora, tell Loren I left, she needs to rest."

Nora prepares a cup of tea Loren and takes it to her room; she finds her lying in bed. "I have some tea for you sweetie."

"Thanks mom." She sits up. "Did something else happen, Mel wouldn't tell me anything."

"I'm tired, I can't believe Jason was there."

"I get that; I have a feeling something else is bothering you?"

Loren sighs. "I don't want to talk about it right now."

"You and I have no secrets Loren, if something happened, I need to know."

"I'm a big girl mom, I'll be fine, I promise."

Nora sighs. "I'm here if you need to talk."

Loren leans on her mom. "I know, there is something I need to tell you, Mel and I have been talking about it for a while, I'm earning enough money to get my own place, Mel and I will share an apt."

"I knew that was coming." Nora sighs.

"I'll be in the area mom." Loren assures her.

"I know; I knew this would eventually happen."

Back at Eddie's penthouse…

"Are you going to tell me what happened between you and Loren."

Eddie's on the sofa with his hat over his eyes. "There's nothing to tell."

"I heard little comments here and there, about a kiss?"

Eddie removes the hat. "How do you do it? You pretend to leave a room and then you know it all."

"I must confess, I used my charm to get it out of Mel, she said that you kissed Loren, then you told her you loved her, mate what happened?"

"I don't know, I briefly remember she was sitting close by, I noticed how beautiful she looked in that Hot pants ensemble before we started our show, I couldn't help myself."

"When can you help yourself mate? You have a weakness for beautiful women, Loren is very beautiful, she looks amazing when she performs, no wonder Jason was upset."

"I know he liked her, she's really sweet, I've noticed she's transforming from Loren Tate the girl to Loren Tate the Rock star, she looks amazing in those outfits Kelly puts her in."

"Amazing is the only word you could think off?"

"You know what I mean Ian, I don't remember kissing her, I feel guilty."

"I bet Katy got on your case?"

"My parents did, it's not like I did it a purpose, you know I how I am."

"The latest gossip magazines call you the gigolo Rock Star, and the Duran Casanova."

Eddie laughs, he leans back on the sofa. "I don't read those magazines; I hope they put Jason away for many years."

Ian walks to the fridge to get some water; he brings Eddie a bottle. "I saw that, for a moment I thought he was going to shoot you and Loren."

"He was aiming at me Ian; he was mad at me."

"Can you blame him?"

"I know he liked Loren, she wouldn't give him the time of day."

"I guess he blamed you?"

"I caught him bothering Loren several times, I stepped in every time, I caught him trying to hurt her, don't want to think what he would have done to Loren."

"He's going to spend time in jail, you need not worry mate."

Eddie takes a sip of his water. "Did you see how she pushed me out of harm's way?"

"Yeah, she didn't think twice, she could have gotten hurt."

"I kissed her, I feel like a jerk, then she saves my life." Eddie adds.

Ian can't help but laugh, he's sitting on the chair opposite of Eddie. "Well when you're in love you'll do what it takes."

Eddie furrows his eyebrows; he glances at Ian who hasn't noticed Eddie's stern look. "What did you say?"

Ian looks at him; he takes another sip of water. "I didn't say anything."

"You just said when you're in love…who's in love?"

"I didn't say that!"

Eddie walks towards his friend. "Ian, my dad and mom almost said something; they didn't quite finish their sentence, and now you."

Ian rolls his eyes; he gets up and walks towards the door. "Listen, it's late and you need to get some rest."

Before he can open the door, Eddie stands in front of him and slams the door shut. "You're not leaving until you tell me what you were talking about."

Ian lets out a sigh and looks away. "Mel's going to kill me."

"So Mel spilled the beans?" Eddie questions.

"I'm trying to get serious with her, you're not helping."

"You should have thought of that before you said anything…spill it Ian!"

Eddie stands his ground. Ian leans on the wall. "If you repeat this, I'll kill you mate."

"Say Ian, what's the big secret, what's everyone hiding from me?"

"She told me Loren is…"
