I need you Chapter 29

I have no knowledge in the medical field in regards to brain injuries, I did some research, I hope it makes sense.

Eddie's taken to the nearest Trauma center in the area. When they arrive, Katy leans on Max crying, they're sitting together without saying a word, Kelly's crying, she's holding on to Jake's hand, Loren's in shock, she sobs quietly, she's staring at the ER door, she knows the doctors are working hard to save Eddie's life, her top is full of blood, Mel calls Nora, she's on her way, Ian stands nearby without saying a word, his eyes focused on the ER door, he's waiting on the doctors. The fans that were in line at the meet and greet, are outside the hospital for news of Eddie's condition. Several police officers talk to Max.

Mel sits quietly holding Loren's arm. "They got him here fast; he's going to be ok." Ian paces the floor; he keeps looking at the ER door.

The ER door opens, the Dr. steps outside. "Mrs. Duran." Loren runs to his side. "We had to rush him to the O.R."

Loren's eyes are full of tears. "How's my husband? He's going to be ok?"

"We'll know more when we're done." The Dr. tells her and he walks away.

After several hours the Dr. returns to speak to Loren and her family.

"We were able to stop the bleeding, he's been taken to the ICU in a medically induced coma, this is the only way for swelling of his brain to begin to heal, it's the only option left, we've placed a tube on the side of his head to release some pressure from his brain, he's in critical condition Mrs. Duran."

"Can we see him?"

"As soon as he's in the room, I'll have the nurse get you, if you wish you can come up to the ICU area on the 3rd floor."

Katy gets up and hugs Loren. "He's very strong sweetie, don't you give up on me, Eddie knows we love him."

Loren looks at Katy. "This is my fault, Jason did this!"

"Don't you dare go there, Jason's a sick man, he'll be caught and punished for this."

Within a few minutes, they're on the 3rd floor, Loren's the first to go inside to see him; her heart breaks, Eddie's connected to many tubes and machines.

"I love you." She places her hand over his. "Everyone's here, we'll be here as long as you need us, I'm here Eddie, I love you, I need you."

She sits next to him crying. Katy and Max walk in quietly. They can tell Loren's hurting, Eddie's swollen on one side of his face and bandages cover part of his head.

Katy approaches him. "Talk to him Loren, he can hear us, we need to tell him we love him and need him over and over."

"I can't lose him, I'll die." Loren tells Katy.

Max pulls Loren into a tight hug. "He's a fighter, we can't give up, I know he's fighting for you, he loves you very much sweetheart."

Loren sobs quietly in the crook of Max's chest. Nora arrives, she walks to where Loren's hugging Max. "I'm here."

She runs to her mom's side. "I can't lose him, I need him."

Nora sits and pulls Loren next to her. "You stay strong, he knows you're here, he's loves you so much sweetie."

"I love him too."

Later in the evening, Mel walks in with a cup of soup. "You have to eat something Lo."

"I'm not hungry."

"Come on, you have to eat to stay strong, when Eddie wakes up, he's needs to see his beautiful bride, please?"

She hands her the cup and Loren takes small sips.

"Any changes?" Mel asks.

Loren turns towards her. "No, he's the same."

Ian runs in. "They caught Jason, he's in custody."

"Why wasn't he caught earlier? Before he got to Eddie?" Loren questions.

"He's not getting out any time soon." Ian assures her.

Loren sobs quietly. Mel kneels down to her; she hands a tissue. "Let it out Loren, its ok to cry."

A week later, there's no change to Eddie's condition; Loren sits holding his hand and softly caresses his face. She hums and sings to him, small notes to songs she knows. "Lucky I'm in love with my best friend, lucky to have been where I have been…" she places her head on his shoulders and sings to him.

Kelly walks in and hears Loren singing to him. "How is he?"

She looks at her. "No change Kel, Dr. says he's stable but critical, don't know how long we'll have to be here."

"I'm sorry to bother you, your album is ready, I need you to sign these, I brought them to you."

Loren lets out a small sigh. "I'm glad I finished recording it, I wouldn't be able to do anything right now.

"I know, keep singing to him."

"Lyric's to songs I love, wrote one of the songs on the album for him, our first wedding anniversary is in a few days, I was going to sing it to him before the fans heard it."

"You recorded it without him knowing?"

"Jake helped." She turns to look at him. "I hope he can hear me."

"Don't forget what the Dr. said, he can hear us, don't stop talking to him."

She can't hold it anymore; she leans on Kelly. "What am I going to do if I lose him Kel?"

"No, don't say that, he's a fighter, he loves you, I know he'll be ok."

"He has to be, he's my life, he's everything to me."

Loren holds her head and her eyes roll back almost collapsing in Kelly's arms, Nora's walking in and runs to help Kelly.

"What happened?"

"I don't know, we were talking and she suddenly fainted."

"Wait, I'll sit here with her while you go and get help."

Kelly helps Nora sit down and she places Loren on her lap, Kelly runs out and returns with a nurse and Dr.

They place Loren on the bed next to Eddie's; The Dr. immediately check Loren's vitals. "Has she been eating?"

"We try to make her eat." Nora adds.

"She's worried about her husband, I don't think she's eating like she should, let me go and get her some of her favorite salads, I'll be back later, keep me posted." Kelly says.

Kelly exits the room, Katy and Max walk in. They see Nora standing by Loren and the Dr. and nurse looking over her.

"I'll get her started on fluids." Katy runs to her side. "What happened?"

"She fainted; this is too overwhelming."

"I don't think she's eating, or even sleeping." Katy turns to Max. "We have to make sure she's resting, otherwise we're going to have them both in here."

The nurse returns and starts an IV on Loren. Within a few minutes she starts to wake up. She tries to sit up but Nora holds her down.

"No, Dr. said you're to lay down."

"Eddie needs me by his side."

"We're all here, he has all of us, if you don't take care of yourself Eddie needs to see you when he's wakes up."

"Your mom is right, rest, we will be here today." Max assures her.

Loren turns to her side lifting the top part of the bed to the upright position where she can keep an eye on Eddie.

Meanwhile…

Kelly returns to the office. "How's Eddie?"

"No change, here are the papers Loren signed."

"How's she doing?" Jake asks.

"Right before I left she fainted, she's not eating or sleeping well, it's catching up to her, I ordered some of her favorite salads, they'll deliver them to her."

Jake holds his head. "You know I should have seen this coming, Jason tried to hurt Eddie in Vegas, the moment we knew he was released we should have taken precautions to make sure he and Loren were safe."

"We had no idea he'd try anything again, he's a sick person, I'm sorry I ever hired him."

"Hey you can't blame yourself honey, we had no idea he wasn't stable."

"I'm going to be so careful from now on I'll do background checks on anyone I hire, we'll make that a priority from now on."

"Definitely." Jake agrees.

Kelly gets her phone and calls Nora, she smiles when she's told Loren's awake and resting.

Mel and Ian go to Loren and Eddie's place to get some personal items for Loren. She turns to the maid before they leave.

"When you're done with the upstairs, please make sure you do the laundry."

"Yes, I will have everything ready Miss Melissa."

"Thanks."

"Can I ask how Mr. Duran is doing?"

"He's the same, no change, he hasn't gotten worse."

Mel places some change of clothes for Loren in a bag and leaves.

They arrive at the hospital and they find Loren on the other bed. Mel runs to her side. "What happened?"

"I fainted, I'm getting some fluids, I'm supposed to stay in this bed today."

"I told you this would happen; I brought you clean clothes."

The nurse walks in with a tray. "Mrs. Duran, I need to draw some blood."

Loren sighs. "I don't understand why so much fuss."

Nora looks at her daughter. "Let her do her job; the Dr. wants to make sure you're well."

Loren rolls her eyes; Mel sits next to her while Ian walks towards Eddie's bed. "Hey mate, you have to wake up soon."

Katy walks in. "Someone told me Loren loves pastrami sandwiches; I have a huge one here with all of the works."

Loren smiles. "I love those."

A few hours later, Loren sits by Eddie's side. A soft knock on the door makes her turn towards the door. "Chloe?"

"I'm sorry, I had to come and see Eddie, how is he?"

"He's the same, no change." Loren tells her.

"I need to apologize to you."

Loren looks at her. "Thanks Chloe."

"I brought these flowers, Eddie loves daisies."

Loren smiles. "I had forgotten about that, thank you for remembering."

Chloe hands Loren the bouquet and a card. "When he wakes up, can you show him?"

Loren takes the card and bouquet from her hand. "Of course, I'll place it with all the cards he's gotten."

Chloe walks closer to Eddie; she looks at Loren. "Can I hold his hand?"

Loren's unsure. "What for?"

"My way of apologizing to him." She reaches for his hand and holds it for a few seconds. "Thanks Loren, I have to get going, my son is with the nanny downstairs."

"You're welcome, thanks for coming." She heads towards the door, Katy walks in. "Chloe?"

"I came to see Eddie, I was worried."

Katy holds the door for her. "Have a good day."

Chloe leaves, Katy turns to Loren. "You ok?"

"Yes, it didn't bother me Katy; she cares, she came to see Eddie."

"I don't trust her." Katy states.

Loren smiles. "I'm grateful to her, I have him in my life."

Katy lets out a slightly wicked laugh. "Yes, you're right, we should be thankful to her."

Loren hugs Katy. "I love him so much."

"I know you do, look how peaceful he looks, I'm sure he can feel your presence."

She caresses his face. "I know he can."

Loren feels flushed and almost faints. Katy holds her. "Maybe you should sit, let me get the Dr."

"I'm ok Katy." Loren holds on to the railings of Eddie's bed. Her eyes flutter, everything in the room is spinning.

Katy returns with the Dr. and Nora's right behind them. She runs to Loren. "What's wrong? You're feeling sick again?"

"I'm fine mom."

"You need to rest." Nora tells her.

The Dr. takes Loren's hand and guides her to the bed next to Eddie's. "Let me recheck your vitals Mrs. Duran, your mom is right, I told you to stay in bed."

The nurse walks in. "Dr. here are the results from the blood tests for Mrs. Duran."

He takes the paper and glances towards Loren. Katy and Nora sit by her side. "You need to rest and eat a lot better Mrs. Duran."

Nora sighs. "Is she ok?"

He smiles. "I did a pregnancy test just to make sure."

Loren sits up. "And?"

"It's positive Mrs. Duran, you're pregnant!"

A Duran baby! Yikes! R & R!
