Something More Hollywood Heights

A baby Chapter 30

Loren's stunned. "Are you sure?"

"Blood test don't lie Mrs. Duran."

She looks at her mom and Katy. "Now what?"

"What do you mean now what?"

She begins to cry. Nora hugs her. "Sweetie, you're having a baby."

"I can't even tell Eddie he's going to be a dad."

Katy hugs her. "Sweetie, he's going to be fine, this is the best news we could possibly get today."

Loren looks at Eddie. She touches his hand and kisses it softly. "Babe you're going to be a daddy."

The nurse walks into the room. "Mrs. Duran, here's the name of an obstetrician in the area; we've made your first appointment."

She takes the card. "Thanks."

A month later…

Eddie's still in the coma, the Dr.'s keep a close eye on him, one of them approaches Loren.

"Mrs. Duran, we have to go back to the O.R, we have to change the tubes to smaller ones."

"Is he improving?"

"The good news is that the swelling has gone down, after we change the tube, we'll be able to tell you more."

He's wheeled away and Loren waits. Mel walks in. "How's our mommy to be doing?"

Loren caresses her tummy. "We're doing well, Dr. says I'm due in the fall, I haven't really felt sick, just tired and sleepy."

"I have good news, your second album is climbing the Billboards, it's in second place."

"I'm happy I finished it, I'm in no mood to write or sing."

"You have a gig at MK remember?"

"I miss Eddie; I don't know how I'll go on if he doesn't improve."

"Don't you dare say that, he hasn't gotten any worse, you'll see, after the procedure today I'm sure he'll wake up."

"I hope you're right Mel, I feel very lonely."

"Let's think happy thoughts, what do you want a boy or girl?"

Loren smiles; she knows Mel's always there for her. "It doesn't matter, as long as it's healthy, and he or she looks like Eddie."

"Are you serious, you're going to have a beautiful baby, you and Eddie are gorgeous."

An hour later, the doors open and Eddie's back in the room. Loren gets up and waits for the Dr. to say something.

"Mrs. Duran we're pleased with what we saw, the swelling has gone down, we didn't put the tubing back in. We'll have to wait for him to wake up."

Loren walks towards Eddie. She intertwines her fingers with his. "You're doing so much better babe; you need to wake up."

Mel joins her. "His color is improving; I know he'll be fine."

"I hope so, I miss him."

Kelly and Jake walk in. "Hi Loren, thought we'd bring in the flowers and gifts arriving for Eddie."

Two men walk in with flowers, balloons, stuffed bears and stuffed puppies in all sizes. "The fans care."

Kelly walks towards Eddie's bed. "His color is better."

"Dr. said the swelling is down, they removed the tube, his hair is growing back on the side where they shaved it for the surgery."

Jake sits by Eddie's side. "How are you feeling Loren?

"I'm ok, the news of the baby hasn't really sunk in, maybe because Eddie doesn't know."

"Give him a few days, I know he'll be thrilled."

Loren smiles for the first time. "I can't wait to tell him; I don't know how he'll react."

"Those are the best surprises, ask Jake, when we were told we were having twins, he didn't speak for a week." Kelly says with a chuckle.

Jake laughs too. "That was some day, I didn't know what to expect, those two boys are my life."

Mel walks in with two cups of tea. "Here Loren, your favorite, chamomile tea."

She hands Loren the warm cup. Max and Katy walk in with more flowers, cards and bears. "Sorry Loren, our home is getting too full."

Katy's eyes widen when she sees the room full of more get well wishes, more flowers, balloons and toys.

"Where did these come from?"

"Kelly and Jake brought them."

Katy places the items down and checks on Eddie, she places a kiss on his forehead. "He looks good Loren."

Max approaches him. "Where's the tube?"

"They removed it, Dr. says the swelling is down, he's doing better."

Katy touches his face. "His color looks good too, c'mon Eddie, it's time to wake up, you've never slept this long!"

There's a quiet knock on the door. Rick peeks through the side of the door. "I hope its ok?"

Loren smiles. "Of course Rick, thanks for stopping by." She walks to the door to greet him.

"We've been friends forever; I've been debating whether to come and see him?"

"Why?"

"We were enemies for a while; we were in love with the same woman."

Loren blushes. "I'm sorry Rick, thank you for coming."

He smiles. "You're more beautiful than ever Loren."

"You're very sweet." Loren adds.

"Listen if you need anything, you know how to reach me."

"I know, I'm so grateful."

He walks to Eddie's bed and acknowledges everyone there. "He looks good."

Max says. "Dr.'s are optimistic; he's going to be fine."

Rick feels all eyes on him, he turns towards Loren. "I'll be going now, wanted to make sure he's doing great, if you need anything, call me."

Loren walks him to the door. "Thanks again for coming, I know Eddie will be very happy you were here."

Rick smiles, he walks out the door. Loren turns around, everyone's talking while they sit around Eddie's bed, Loren walks to the little patio area. Once there, she softly sings the song she wrote for Eddie, it's in her latest album.

"Thank you for this moment

Got to say how wonderful you are

All the hopes and dreams I could have prayed for

There you are

If I could have one dance forever

I would take you by the hand

Tonight it's you and I together

I'm so glad I'm your woman

And if I lived a thousand years, you know

I never could explain

The way I lost my heart to you that day

But if destiny decided I should look the other way

Then the world would never know

The greatest story ever told

And did I tell you that I love you tonight?

I don't hear the music

When I'm looking in your eyes

But I feel the rhythm of your body close to mine

It's the way we touch that sends me

It's a way we will always be

Your Kiss, your pretty smile you'd know I'd die for

Oh baby! You're all I need

And if I lived a thousand years, you know

I never could explain

The way I lost my heart to you that day

But if destiny decided I should look the other way

Then the world would never know

The greatest story ever told

And did I tell you that I love you tonight

Just how much I really need you

Did I tell you I love you tonight?

Tonight

And if I lived a thousand years, you know

I never could explain

The way I lost my heart to you that day

But if destiny decided I should look the other way

Then the world would never know

What you mean to me and how much I love you

Loren leans on a wall while she ends the song, small tears glisten down her cheeks, a touch on her shoulder makes her turn around.

"Mom."

"That's a beautiful song, was that for Eddie?"

"Yes, I never had the chance to let him hear it."

Nora wraps her arms around her daughter. "It's ok, let it out. Everything will be ok, you'll see, you have so much to look forward too, you're having a baby."

"I know mom." She leans on Nora. "I want to see him awake, I want to see his eyes, his smiles, I miss him so much."

"He's getting better, his body's healing, Jason put him through a lot, please be strong Loren."

"I'm scared mom, something deep inside tells me this isn't over yet."

"Listen, Katy said you're performing at MK tomorrow night, we'll make sure someone is here with him, I want you to go and sing your heart out, sing that song for Eddie in front of your fans, be the Loren everyone loves."

The following night,

Loren's at MK, it's been weeks since she had her hair and make-up done, she wearing her hair loose with light make-up, she can fit into a slinky silver dress that wraps around her body perfectly, there's no sign of a pregnancy even though she's going into her 8th week.

She walks out on stage and smiles for her fans. She sits on a stool and grabs the mic.

"Thank you for coming, it's been a hectic few weeks, Eddie's getting better and we hope to have him with us very soon, I know you've heard this song on my new album, I called "The greatest story ever told." I know you'll agree that being married to Eddie is the greatest thing to happen to me, I decided to write a song especially for him, I hope you'll love it as much as I loved writing it, Eddie this is for you, love you so much babe." The fans yell out. "We love you Loren!" She replies. "I love you too."

She begins to sing the song she sung at the hospital patio the night before. Kelly and Jake stand in the back along with Nora, Mel and Ian. They watch in awe of her beautiful performance, Loren does it perfectly.

She's grown into an amazing artist; she finishes the song, smiles and fights hard to hold back tears. The fans give her a standing ovation. She smiles and bows while they continue to applaud. Everyone sits, she begins another of her hits; it's close to midnight when she performs her last song for the night.

Katy and Max are at the hospital; they've been listening to Loren through a satellite system Max installed at MK.

Loren walks back from her dressing room, she changes back to her jeans and a loose top over a tank top. Nora walks in. "Katy called, she said you should try to get some sleep at home, she hired a nurse to sit with Eddie."

"No, I need to see him mom, I won't be able to rest, I've been away from him long enough."

"We will go home after that, I'll stay with you."

They're at the hospital, Loren's feeling uneasy, she has to see him. Katy's standing outside the room. The elevators doors open, she sees Loren and Nora walk out. Loren runs towards her. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, everything's fine, Eddie started to move, he slightly opened his eyes, the Dr.'s inside with him."

"Omg, I knew something was going to happen, I felt it mom." Loren hugs Nora and Katy.

"Where's Max?" Loren asks.

"He went to get tea."

Max is back. "I was about to call you, Eddie's waking up."

"When can we go inside?" Loren paces the floor. The doors suddenly open and the Dr. steps out. "He's waking up, we checked his vitals, he's doing great, he hasn't said much."

Loren's desperate. "Can I see him?"

"Please do, take your time while you talk to him, don't overwhelm him with too many questions, he had a serious brain injury."

Loren's the first to walk in, Eddie's in an upright position and turns towards the door, Max and Katy trail behind her. Loren smiles while she approaches him.

She touches his hand. "How do you feel?"

"Ok, I guess." He seems confused.

Katy's the next to speak. "Hi sweetie."

"Why am I here?" Eddie questions.

"I'm sure The Dr. told you, you had a serious head injury."

"We're your parents, do you remember anything? This is Loren; do you remember?"

She furrows her eyes; she notices no reaction from Eddie. "Loren who?" he asks.
