Dreaming of you Chapter 32
Katy tries to comfort him; he won't quit with the questions. "Why Loren? Is she part of my life?"
"She's been part of our life when she started her music career; she and Charlie are very good friends."
Eddie furrows his eyes. "I don't remember him; I don't see pictures of anyone! Why?"
"The Dr. said we can't shock you with memories you aren't ready for, until you remember on your own, we can't say or show you anything."
"That's not fair, I feel guilty for dreaming of Loren."
"She's been a great friend; she cares for you."
"Why do I feel like you're lying to me mom? I'll tell Dr. Townes what's going on, he'll know what to do."
Katy feels horrible, she can't be honest with her son, they have no choice but to listen to the Dr.'s advice.
"Let's have breakfast." Katy tells him.
Later that week….
Mel and Loren meet for lunch. "How's our mommy to be feeling?"
"The baby is moving a lot." Loren says.
"That's exciting!" Mel responds.
Loren smiles. "It's great, Eddie's missing these special moments."
"Speaking of Eddie, Ian and I are having a small dinner party, Ian got a promotion, we want to celebrate with our friends, I want you and Nora to come."
"Are you sure it's a good idea?"
"Yes, it's an excuse to be near Eddie." Mel tells her.
"It hurts to be near him, do you realize how hard it is to see him and not be able to hold his hands and tell him how much I love him, I want to place his hand on my tummy so he can feel our baby move."
"I know, I'm sorry Lo, I'm sure he'll remember very soon, he's doing great with the Dr."
"Yes he is; it's sad he doesn't remember we're married."
"Come on, I have a surprise for you, we're going to go look for a crib, and toys."
"Thanks Mel."
A few days later Eddie's with his therapist. "Anything coming back to you? Any memories?"
"Like I told you before, my dreams are about performing, there's also a beach, and the worst part, Loren is in them too."
"And that's a problem why?"
"She's married Dr. I can't be doing that."
"Maybe she's a reminder of your past."
"My mom said we're very good friends, I can't remember my parents, I get flashbacks of them."
"Have you seen pictures of your childhood?"
"Yes, and nothing."
"What about videos of you performing?"
"I've seen them, I've seen one of Loren and I perform a duet."
Dr. Townes holds his chart, iPad and pen. "I need you to look through more pictures, ask questions, if you don't get answers, push for answers so you can remember something."
"Anything to jog my memory, I can't wait to get them back, I'm tired of questioning everything and never getting a straight answer, everyone changes the subject, I know they're hiding things from me."
"I suggested they don't give you too much information at once, you need to get things a little at a time, the injury you sustained took your memories away, I want you to look through more pictures to help you regain them slowly, getting too much might worsen everything."
Eddie leaves the therapist office, he gets into the limo, he's driven straight home. When he arrives, he sees Loren sitting on the deck with his parents drinking a glass of lemonade, something about her makes him smile, looking at her makes him happy.
Loren's relaxing on the lounge chair on the deck, her baby bump is more noticeable, she looks beautiful, he's upset to see her alone all of the time, where's Charlie? He's an idiot to leave like this.
He watches Loren interact with his parents. Katy's showing Loren a book, Loren smiles and hugs Katy. He'd love to be close enough to listen to their conversation, Loren leans on Katy, she's crying, probably problems with Charlie. Why can't he remember him? Who's this idiot Loren's married too? He doesn't appreciate what he has, he can't wait to see him face to face, and tell him off!
If Loren was his wife, he'd never leave her side. She's beautiful, he loves how her wavy hair flows in the breeze, she glows beautifully with the sun rays, pregnancy agrees with her. He hears a car drive into the long driveway, he walks towards Loren and his mom.
"Enjoying this nice day?" He asks.
"Hi sweetie, yes, Loren and I are having some cool lemonade, do you want some?"
Max yells out. "I'll have a glass too." Max sits next to Loren. "How are you feeling?"
She loves how sweet and caring Max is. "I'm ok, the baby's moving a lot."
Eddie listens, he can't take his eyes off of Loren, she notices, and gets up. "I'm going to help Katy."
He follows her until she steps inside. Max furrows his eyes. "You ok son?"
"No, something isn't right!"
Max picks up the book Loren left on the seat where she was sitting. "Looks like Loren's looking for baby names."
"I hope it's not Charlie!" Eddie's quick to say.
"Why are you upset with Charlie?"
"He's never with her, what kind of an idiot leaves his wife alone?"
"He works Eddie, now that Loren's pregnant, she isn't performing, he has to work a little more."
"Money issues? She needs him." Eddie scolds.
"I know he'll be back as soon as she's has the baby."
Katy returns with two glasses of lemonade, Loren trails behind her. She gets the book; Katy gives Max and Eddie a glass.
"I'm tired, I think it's time I go home, I have documents to look through for Jake and Kelly."
Eddie gets up. "I can take you home."
"Thanks Eddie, you're not allowed to drive yet."
"We have the limo to take you home."
Katy interrupts. "It's a good idea Loren, you don't have your car, I picked you up remember?"
Loren bites her lower lip. Eddie can't help himself and acknowledges it. "You look so cute when you do that."
Loren glances at him with a smile. "I do?"
"Yes, I've caught you doing that several times, I think it's really adorable."
Eddie finishes his lemonade. "Ready?"
She doesn't want to upset him by turning his offer to drive her home in the limo.
Katy looks at Max. "I hope he remembers soon."
"He will."
"Loren knows what she's having."
Max's eyes widen. "Really, what is it?"
"It's not my place to say anything, let her tell you."
"I bet you know!"
"She wants to surprise you." Katy tells him.
Inside the Limo; Eddie looks at Loren.
"I'd love to buy your baby something."
"I have everything we need, thanks for the offer; I need to finish assembling several things."
"Really, say no more, I can help with that."
"Oh no Eddie, it's fine, I'm going to hire someone to help me."
"I'm not taking no for an answer." He says.
The limo stops at Loren's place, Eddie gets out to help Loren, he turns to the driver. "I'll call you when I'm ready to go Sal."
"Yes sir." He closes the door and leaves. Loren's not sure what to say. "I'm sure you have other things to do."
"Oh yeah, my life is very exciting right now!"
He walks ahead of Loren and opens the door. They walk towards the elevators and head up.
The doors open, Loren gets her key. He stops and looks around. "This looks very familiar."
"You're always here with Charlie, it's great it looks familiar, isn't it?"
"Yeah, I get bits and pieces; I want to remember."
"Be patient, you're doing so well."
"Be honest with me, have we been really good friends?"
She takes a deep breath; she avoids eye contact. "Yes, you've been an amazing friend to us."
"I'm glad, sometimes I have this funny feeling I've done something to hurt you."
"Of course not, what makes you think that?"
"I don't know, anyway, lead the way to the nursery, believe it or not I'm pretty good at assembling things!"
"There are several items."
"It's ok, I'll need some tools."
Loren walks to the kitchen and returns with a metal box full of the things he'll need. Eddie takes the box and walks into the nursery.
"It's pretty big room, what did you use this room for?"
"Ahh…" She hesitates. "Charlie's office." She wants to tell him everything.
"I love this color; it's a light blue on one wall and a deeper blue on the other side." He looks at her. "You're having a boy?"
"Yes, Katy was with me this morning, I had an ultrasound, we found out the sex of the baby."
"Does Charlie know?" Eddie sounds annoyed.
"He's coming home tonight; I plan on telling him."
"I still can't remember him." Eddie sighs.
"I'm sure once you see him you'll remember."
Eddie opens the tool box and takes out what he needs, he starts to assemble the crib. Loren's happy it's him, after he regains his memory he'll be happy to know he helped get things ready for his son. Loren's excited their having a boy, she hopes he'll look like daddy.
An hour later, the crib's ready. "I didn't think you had it in you."
"You had doubts?" Eddie asks.
"You don't look like the type that can assemble things." Loren teases.
"Hey, I'm offended by that!" Eddie chuckles.
Loren's happy to see him in their home, she misses him. "What else do you need Loren?"
"That's enough for today."
"I don't think so; I see a changing table that needs assembling!"
"It's ok, you did enough."
"I insist." He opens the huge box and begins to work on it. "I'm getting hungry; I think I'll order some food; I hope you can join me?"
He smiles at her. "That'll be really nice."
Loren gets her phone and places an order. By the time the food arrives Eddie's done assembling the changing table, he places it on the spot Loren chose for it. He places the crib in its place too.
Loren orders a variety of dishes; she knows what Eddie loves to eat. Within the hour, the food arrives, Loren places the plates and food on the table.
"The food is ready." He walks towards the table. "Everything looks delicious."
"I would have cooked something, but I'm starving."
"That's fine, this is perfect."
"I hope you like the variety I chose."
He sits across from Loren. They eat and talk, Loren's afraid she might say too much, she doesn't want to hurt him and make things worse. The doorbell rings, Loren gets up to open the door. She smiles when she sees Ian and Mel.
Mel walks in talking about something she and Ian encountered, she stops when she sees Eddie at the table.
"You have company?"
Ian smiles. "Hi Eddie, great to see you …" he looks at Loren with a questionable look. "Eddie's here, you know that right?" Ian's carrying a box.
"Of course I know, he helped with the crib and changing table."
Mel walks into the nursery. "You're very talented Eddie, I couldn't convince Ian to help Loren."
She smirks and points at Ian, he ignores her, he looks at Loren.
"We have the frame you wanted."
Eddie gets up. "Can I help you with that?"
Loren offers them food. "We have leftover guys!"
"Not thanks, Ian wanted to drop off the frame you needed."
Loren's distracted picking up the containers from the table, she doesn't realize she asked Ian to take the frame to her room. Eddie follows Ian to help him carry the box into Loren's room. "It's not too heavy." Ian tells him.
"I can assemble it." He follows him into Loren's bedroom.
Ian turns the lights on, his eyes widen when he realizes Eddie walked into the room. He turns to see if Eddie saw anything, it's too late, Eddie looks at the pictures on the wall, several things catch his attention! Loren realizes he's in their bedroom, she cringes, has she ruined everything?
Oh no! What will this do to Eddie?
Please remember I have no knowledge of amnesia and how long it takes etc. I did some research and I'm trying to follow it as best I can, thank you again!
