The baby's coming Chapter 34

The following day, they attend Ian and Mel's dinner party. Loren looks beautiful, she's wearing royal blue maternity top and black leggings, they're holding hands when they walk into the room, Eddie's more attentive towards Loren.

Nora sees them and smiles, she heads their way. "I'm glad to see you smiling so much Eddie, you're back where you belong, I know you'll remember everything."

"I hope it's soon."

Loren looks at him. "I'm thirsty, can you get me something to drink?"

He walks away. Nora knows something's bothering her. "Is everything ok?"

"I don't know; he wants to tour."

"That's great; he's getting back into the swing of things."

"I want to go with him, but, what if I go into labor?"

"Can you travel? You have a few weeks to go."

"That's just it, he wants to go alone, he says he needs to do this."

"Don't worry honey put yourself in his shoes."

"I'm trying mom, I'm hurting too, we made love yesterday, I was excited it finally happened, I could tell he wasn't himself."

"I know sweetie."

Mel tells everyone. "Dinner is served."

Everyone takes their place and enjoys dinner.

A week later, Loren's going over some lyrics, she can't concentrate, Eddie's been gone a week. He's in Northern California, he'll tour some cities in Washington State.

Nora peeks into the room. "Can I get you anything?"

"No, I'm fine mom."

"He's going to be back."

"I feel I'm losing him, why did he leave? Our baby will be here soon."

"You have 2 months to go, he'll be back by then."

"I don't get it." She looks out the window, she moves the shade to look outside.

"Can you imagine waking up and not knowing what happened to your life? He needs time to remember, he calls you several times a day."

"It's not the same Eddie."

"I would never walk out on him; I sat by his side every day in the hospital."

Nora hugs her. "Stop talking that way, he didn't walk out on you."

Meanwhile, Eddie first performance was phenomenal, the fans were excited to see him, Jake and Max are with him.

"Outstanding Eduardo, you killed it."

"I'm relieved, I needed this."

"Take it easy for a while, your next show is in a few hours."

"I'm going to call Loren."

Eddie walks into his dressing room. He gets his cell and calls Loren; it goes directly to voicemail. "Loren babe, it's Eddie, it's been a great week, rehearsals and tonight's show was out of this world, maybe you're taking a nap, I'll call you later, love you."

He leans on the chair and closes his eyes. The door opens. "Hey Eddie, you were great tonight."

He sees a male figure standing in front of him. "Who are you?"

"Wow, you really don't remember huh?"

"No! Who are you?' Eddie gets up.

"Rick James, we're friends Eddie."

"I'm still dealing with some amnesia"

"Don't worry; I think it's better you don't, anyway, wanted to see how you're doing?"

"Thanks, like I said I'm still struggling with my memory."

"Do you remember Loren?" Rick wonders.

"I'm getting there."

Rick walks back towards the door. "Listen, I hope there's no hard feelings, I heard you two are having a baby?"

"Yeah in a few months, thanks for stopping by." Eddie says.

Rick leaves, Max walking into the room. He acknowledges Rick and walks in. "What's he doing here?"

"He came to see the show."

"Do you know who he is?"

"He told me, my friend?"

Max laughs, he grabs a bottle of water and sits. "Yeah, he almost took Loren from you."

"Really? She was in love with him too?"

"No, he was, you were her only love."

"How did I meet Loren?"

"She was Jake and Kelly's nanny for a while, one day she was singing to the twins and Kelly overheard her, she loved it, she asked your mom and I to listen to her, she's our Superstar."

Eddie listens to every word. "What else?"

"She did duets with Danny Lopez and you, she won a Grammy, that's where she met Rick, you introduced them."

"Thanks Pops, I didn't want to ask Loren; I know she's hurting."

"Why do you want to tour now? She needs you son."

"What good am I to her if I can't remember anything Pops?"

"That's not the point." Max tells him.

"Listen, I have to get ready for the next show." Eddie gets up to get ready.

A few days later, Loren's at the Dr.'s for her monthly check-up. "Everything looks good; the heartbeat is perfect."

"I'm very excited." Loren tells him.

"You're six weeks away, any names yet?"

"No, we haven't thought about it."

"You and Eddie better sit down, this young man will need a name."

She sighs and gets ready to leave, she walks to her car and drives home. As soon as she walks into her home, she drops her bag on the floor, she holds the side of her baby bump, she feels a sharp pain.

She walks to the nearby couch and sits. She's breathing, and wonders what's going on. "It's not time yet." She whispers.

Meanwhile..

Nora and Katy are shopping. "I want to surprise Loren with something special."

"You're really sweet." Nora says.

"We love Loren, she's the best thing to happen to our son and our family, she's an amazing wife."

"He's amazing too Katy, he makes my girl very happy, I know they're going through a lot right now, but they'll overcome it."

"Their true love will succeed." Katy states.

They walk into a restaurant for lunch. "Wasn't Loren going to the Dr. today?"

"Yes, I offered to go with her, she wanted to go alone." Nora says.

"We should call her to join us for lunch." Katy gets her phone and calls her number.

"Hi Loren, what did the Dr. say?"

"Everything looks good, 6 weeks to go and counting."

"Your mom and I are going to have lunch, why don't you come and join us?"

"I'd love to Katy, but, I'm not feeling too well."

"What's wrong? Are you ok?" Katy asks.

Nora looks at Katy; and signals her. "What's wrong."

Loren's in pain. "Owwww, omg."

"What's wrong Loren?"

"I don't know; I think I'm in labor."

"Hold on." She looks at Nora. "Loren thinks she's in labor."

"What? It's not time yet!"

"We're on our way, call the Dr.'s office and tell him, we're not too far from you."

"We have to call Eddie." Loren tells her.

"I'll call Max, don't worry." Katy assures her.

Both women leave the restaurant and get into their car and drive to Loren's, Katy calls Eddie and it goes directly to voicemail, she leaves him a message, the voicemail keeps cutting her off, she tries Max, no answer.

"Honey, this is Katy, you and Eddie need to come home, Loren's in labor."

She hits the end button, Nora parks. "I had a feeling this would happen."

The get into the elevator to Loren's floor. Nora knocks. "We're here!"

Loren's contractions are harder, she manages to reach the door, she's crouching holding her baby bump.

"Did you call Eddie?"

"We did, I left him a voicemail, what did the Dr. say?"

"He said I should go to the hospital." Loren starts to cry. "I'm scared, what's wrong, this baby's early."

"It's ok sweetie, we'll get you to the hospital." Nora assures her daughter, Katy walks back into the room, I called 911, they're on their way."

Within minutes, the paramedics arrive, they place Loren on a gurney. They check her vitals; she's taken by ambulance to the hospital. Katy and Nora head to the hospital too. Katy continues to call Eddie to no avail. Max isn't answering either, she calls Kelly.

"Hi Katy, what's up?"

"Loren's in labor, we're trying to reach Eddie or Max, no one is picking up, is Jake still with them?"

"Omg Katy, yes, I think they're in a meeting, Eddie's in rehearsals, I'll call until they answer."

"We're at Cedar-Sinai Medical."

"I'll keep trying, stay calm please."

Loren's taken to the ER, one of the obstetricians on call examines her.

"Mrs. Duran you're dilating already. How long ago did the contractions start?"

"Maybe 2 hours ago, the first one was very painful, then it happened again 20 minutes later, now they're closer."

"This baby doesn't want to wait any longer." The Dr. tells her.

"I have 6 weeks to go, am I going to be ok?"

"You're not the first Mrs. Duran, you're going to be fine, we paged your Dr. and she'll be here soon."

"Now what?" Loren wonders.

"I'm calling the nurses; we need to put you in a labor room."

Katy and Nora peek in. "I was able to reach Kelly, she's going to call until she reaches Eddie or Max, she's trying Jake too."

Loren's going through another contraction; she's trying to breathe through it. "I need Eddie!"

Nora sits by her side. "I know the moment he finds out; he'll be here honey."

"I don't think he loves me anymore." Loren cries.

"Don't say that Loren, my son adores you."

"Then why did he leave? He said he needed to be away."

"I don't know Loren, he's trying to remember, he loves you."

"I need him, I had a feeling this baby wouldn't wait, I knew it was going to happen while he was away."

Loren's wheeled to the labor room; Katy requests a private room. They place her on a bed, the nurses prep Loren, the monitor and IV's are ready.

The contractions are coming every 5 minutes, the Dr. checks her and Loren's almost ready.

"It's almost time Loren." Her Doctor tells her.

Loren wipes the tears while trying to breathe through each contraction.

Nora looks at Katy and asks. "Has Kelly called?"

"No, I'm going to step outside and try again, I'll be right back."

Katy steps outside to the waiting lounge and calls Max, he finally picks up.

"Hey what's up? I just turned my phone on, you've left several messages."

"Max, it's about time you picked up, Loren's in labor!"

"What? It's not time yet, is it?"

"Well tell that to your grandson, where's Eddie, you need to get back here right now!"

"He's been at rehearsals all morning; let me call Brenda to get the jet ready, we'll be there soon."

"Please hurry Max, it's almost time."

Max ends the call and runs to the area where Eddie's at. "Jake, where's Eddie?"

"He stepped out for a moment; he's going to call Loren, why what's wrong?"

"Loren having the baby, she's in labor."

"What? I'll call Brenda, Eddie is in the back."

Max runs through the back door looking for Eddie, he finds him holding his head.

He approaches him, he doesn't want to startle him.

"What's wrong?"

"I have this terrible headache." He looks confused when he looks at Max. "Where's Loren?"

"She didn't come with us?"

"We had to meet with the fans! What happened?"

"Are you ok son?"

He's holding his head. "I have to see Loren, why isn't she here? We always tour together!"

R&R guys! What's with Eddie? He remembered?
