Hello again all! So sorry for not updating in a bit, I was combating a bit of writer's block and so I took a little break to write for some other fanfics I've had on the back burner for a while. But, as promised, I am back and this chapter is completely Aleheather focused. This chapter takes place about 3-4 months after Heather and Elena had their little 'heart to heart' and Alejandro and Heather are now a couple months into their engagement and living together in Toronto while Alejandro attends grad school and will focus on Alejandro and Heather having Heather's parents meet Alejandro before their engagement party in early summer. I will tell you, I had SO much fun writing this and getting back into my 'Aleheather writing groove', so I hope you enjoy the nonsensical, hilarious drama that ensues. Haha. XD
(Alejandro's POV)
I was just finishing shaving when I heard behind me, "Okay, where is it?"
I had to fight off the urge to smirk as I turned around while replying evenly… and also feigning ignorance, "Where's what?" Heather was giving a very sharp and annoyed look with her hands practically glued to her hips.
I know I shouldn't now that we're engaged and living together, but… it's just too amusing to resist.
Besides, I still love when she gets flustered and frustrated with me to a degree.
She kept giving me a hard look as she held up her left and started almost talking in an annoyed and rhetorical tone to me as she held up her left hand flashed her currently empty ring finger, "Notice anything missing here?"
Again, despite knowing she was referring to her engagement ring being 'missing' considering I took it for a very strategic reason, but that is for me to know and for her to find out why.
Since I'm on break from grad school this week and Heather and I have been engaged for a couple months now, we were driving up to my parents house in Ottawa to finally have our parents meet each other. We were going to drive up with Heather's parents but they insisted on wanting to drive up in a separate car, so we're all just going to meet each other there.
With our engagement party planned in June, father especially insisted on having Heather's parents over to finally introduce them to mother just so everyone was introduced before the party… and also because it was a bit overdue at this point.
Thankfully father was able to orchestrate a plan for all of us to divide and conquer so to speak at the beginning to 'break the ice' before meeting up for dinner later in the evening.
Father was going to take Mr. Wilson out golfing at the local country club, have mother entertain Mrs. Wilson with an afternoon luncheon at the house, and I was going to take Heather out for a late lunch date and spend the afternoon with her… which works perfectly for the plan I currently have set in motion as we speak.
But again, it is only for me to know and her to find out.
So instead I just grinned and replied, taking her hand in mine, "Missing? Oh Heather, as far as I can see and as I already know, you are never 'missing' anything… considering I am lucky to be with a woman who has everything."
I kissed the back of her hand while maintaining complete eye contact with her.
She gave me a wide eyed look initially before she furrowed her brows at me and ripped her hand away and gave me an irritated yet completely flustered look as she put her pointer finger in my face as she accused, "You took it. I don't care what you say. You know I put it on my night stand and I know you took it and are hiding it from me to mess with me. And I am going to find it."
"I'm sure you will, mi amor. Odds are it will reappear when you least expect it." I responded teasingly opaque with a slight smile.
After narrowing her eyes at me one more time and I kept grinning at her, she strutted out of the room with an exasperated scoff like she always does.
Even though she was frustrated with me, I always have to give Heather credit by how perceptive she's always been.
I smirked before chuckling in amusement to myself as I wiped the remaining shaving cream off my face with my wash cloth.
While she's irritated with me now… I can't wait to see her reaction later.
5 hours later
We just pulled into the driveway at my parents house and right as I got our suitcases out of the trunk since Heather and I planned on staying up here for a full week, we looked over to see Heather's parents pull up in Mr. Wilson's sports car, or his favorite car at least.
When I first came to 'visit' and met Heather's parents, Mr. Wilson immediately started talking to me about my father's car.
Even though I had to confess I was only 'borrowing it temporarily' from my father, he was still impressed since I found out he had a couple different cars that he kept in rotation and brought them in and out of storage depending on the season and occasion.
They shut off the engine and I was surprised to see Mr. Wilson practically hardly paying attention at first as he ran out and got to the other side of the car to help Mrs. Wilson out.
This was something that intrigued me when it came to Heather's family from what I 'picked up on' before I even met them properly.
While I have noticed and have heard recalled from Heather that her parents weren't necessarily the most attentive parents to her and her siblings, I was surprised to see how close and dare I say almost affectionate they were together as a couple than I initially expected.
Maybe not as much as my parents, but when I was visiting that first time and noticed how they interacted at the Christmas party, they were very consistent with at the very minimum walking arm in arm together.
And that's excluding all the times I've seen him help her in and out of cars, open doors for her, and always pulling out and pushing in her chair whenever she sat at a table… even when they were at home with really no one around to 'show off to'.
As surprising as it is and although in entirely different ways with our parents being completely different people, both Heather and I have parents who are in very happy marriages.
And that was confirmed as Mr. Wilson both exchanged a smile between them as they linked arms and walked over to us.
"Hello Heather-feather. Looks like we got here just in time. And thank you for the guest pass to get into the gate out front." Mr. Wilson remarked as he grinned and shook my hand.
Even though I could feel Heather 'receding' on herself next to me at her father calling her 'Heather-feather' in front of me.
But, I just returned the gestures as I responded, "Of course, my pleasure."
I looked over and saw Heather's mother holding a bottle of pinot noir as I remarked, "Oh, mother will like that."
Mrs. Wilson looked down slightly at the bottle before looking back at me as she said, "Oh, good! I feel like I always give wine as a gift to hosts and I had no idea what your mother would like so I just bought one of my favorites to bring."
Well… hopefully this means our mothers will get along.
Eventually we started making our way to the front door, but it seemed like my parents were already waiting for us since we were barely half way there as mother and father opened the door and walked out of the house arm in arm together.
And despite both of my parents smiling… I could see a certain hesitancy behind my mother's expression.
But, honestly, I was more just appreciative of her being more civil and open minded about my relationship with Heather now and it seems like she's willing to accept our engagement.
So, I am not going to be one to complain. Father continued to smile as he used his free hand to wave as he started, "Buenos días! So wonderful to see you all again."
After shaking hands with Heather and her parents, mother and father took a moment to greet me and give me a hug.
Mother especially seemed happy to see me as she gave me a hug and kissed me on both cheeks before saying, "Hola mijo, cómo estás?"
I smiled and replied, "Bien y tú?"
She just smiled at me as we separated before she slowly glanced next me and I watched her and Heather look at each other for a few seconds before giving each other a nod.
Hmm… interesting?
It was at that moment that father cut in and proceeded, looking toward Heather's parents, "Well, welcome to our home. It is wonderful to have you both here and for us to all finally meet properly, especially under the current circumstances with the engagement. Although I believe one last introduction is in order. Please allow me to introduce my lovely wife."
Mother smiled and extended her hand as she started, really looking like she was trying to 'put on a good face' to my trained eye which I appreciate, "Elena Ledvora Ortiz de Burromuerto, pleasure to meet you and welcome to our home. Alejandro has always told us about how comfortable you kept him at your home whenever he stayed and as his mother I thank you."
If I wasn't taken back by my mother's eloquent response… I think Heather's parents were even more shocked than I was in the current situation.
Heather's father in particular I saw close his eyes and shake his head before clearing his throat, readjusted his glasses, and started, "Craig Vincent Wilson II, pleasure."
Heather's mother followed suit and made her introduction before trying to save face herself in a way as she looked like she regained her composure, "Camille Wilson. And not at all. You have a very charming son."
Mother smiled and nodded as she said, sounding genuine, "Gracias, that's very kind. Your daughter is very..." At that moment mother stopped as I immediately felt my stomach tense up, having no idea where this was going.
Especially since now I saw mother looking at Heather with a frustratingly conflicted gaze and Heather looking right back at her with an expectant look and crossing her arms, looking very prepared for anything she had to say which didn't surprise me at all.
It was almost like Heather was challenging mother in a way to 'do her worst', which again didn't surprise me.
It was an awkwardly silent stalemate for several seconds before mother looked back toward Mrs. Wilson and eventually finished, "She's very... well-dressed."
Heather's parents exchanged looks that seemed overall very confused and mixed with shock… and even I was shocked.
That was probably the closest thing to a 'compliment' that my mother has ever even said about Heather, and it was an honest remark since that was one of the few positive things I've heard her remotely say about Heather was her sense of fashion and her 'table etiquette'.
At that moment, Heather shrugged before saying, "I can live with that."

(Heather's POV)
UGH! What the hell is even happening right now?!
I don't know what the hell he's up to, but I am going to find out what. So far since we all went our separate ways for the afternoon and he took me out to lunch and then to a walk in the park… I have not let my guard down for a damn second.
Seriously?! I accepted his proposal, I moved in with him, and agreed to sleep in the same bed as him and he still feels the need to mess with me like this?!
I swear, I will take his damn necklace and flush it down the toilet if this is how he wants to play around with me.
Well, until he said, "Wait, I just remembered something."
We stopped walking as I looked at him with the utmost skepticism… until I saw what he did next. Slowly, he used his free arm that I wasn't holding onto to reach into his pocket. I quirked up an eyebrow until my eyes went wide when I saw what he took out of his pocket.
My engagement ring.
I could feel my blood slowly start boiling as I saw him smirk before withdrawing his arm from me and taking off in a dead sprint away from me with the ring.
"Oh no you don't!" I immediately called out and started chasing him down.
That… jerk!
I didn't even care that we were doing this at a public park and looking totally demented to everyone we passed.
Eventually I chased him until he cornered himself inside a gazebo ahead of us with nothing but a creek on the other side of it.
Sucker…
I would have relished in it more, but I was infuriated as I stomped toward him and started, "You… You…" Until I stopped short when he spun around on a dime to face me, going down on one knee, and smiling in absolute satisfaction at me.
I froze and felt everything in me stop to the point that I would have been convinced that the world stopped turning for a second.
Well until he took advantage of my current state as he grabbed my hand in both of his as he started, "Heather Renée Wilson, will you marry me?"
All of a sudden everything clicked as to what was happening?
He is serious right now?
Eventually I gave him an unamused scoff as I started, not wanting to give into this weird ass repeat proposal he somehow he finagled me into, "Ha! Very funny. Now where's my ring?"
He just kept up that smug grin as he started, "My pocket for safe keeping… at least for now. You see Heather, I've been thinking. I thought I could convince myself that I was happy with how our engagement was sorted under the circumstances that were about at the time. Now; however, I am afraid I just couldn't in the end. So, I saw this 'weekend getaway' as a way to have something a little more… romantic. And I thought this would be the perfect spot to make it official. So, with that being said, will you marry me?"
We kept looking at each other as I sighed and said, "You're not giving the ring to me until I agree again, are you?"
He just kept grinning at me as he responded, sounding so satisfyingly matter of fact, "That is how marriage proposals work."
After a couple seconds, as I kept seeing him grin at the fact that he had me.
Look, I can admit that I love him and even though I've only just started admitting to myself that getting engaged to and living with him has been some of the best decisions I've ever made, but… ugh, he's still such a sneaky jerk when it comes to this crap with me.
Eventually, I decided to just rip off the band aid and get this over with.
I rolled my eyes and let out an annoyed scoff as I finally responded, "Fine, sure, whatever. I'll marry you. Now can I have my ring back already?"
Slowly, grinning all the while, I saw him reach into his pocket with one of his hands before pulling the ring back out and slowly putting it back on my finger. He slowly got back to his feet and before I could even form a thought, he pulled me in and kissed me.
As flustered and frustrated as I still was… screw it.
I slowly wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back.
Again, even though I still can't believe it… I can't deny one thing.
Alejandro's insufferable, he drives me crazy, and still messes with me when it comes to the stupidest crap… but I'm in love with him.
So, and as a lot of you predicted, Alejandro couldn't resist contriving a way to do a 'repeat proposal' with Heather after he decided that the 'blunt proposal' in Heather's parent's basement wasn't to his 'hopeless romantic liking'... so he found a way strategically lead Heather into a more romantic 'redo proposal' much to Heather's frustration at him holding her engagement ring hostage until she agreed again. XD I also hope you enjoyed the initially tense, awkward meeting of the Wilson's and the Burromuerto's… especially when it came to Elena only coming up up with saying she liked that Heather had a good sense of fashion rather than saying she was 'nice', 'sweet', or 'lovely' like a lot of parents would say to compliment their child's significant other since well… It's Heather. And that is why I love her. XD The next chapter will focus on the outings that occurred during this time between Alejandro and Heather's parents. So for those of you who were curious about Heather's parents' past… stay tuned! ;) Hope you all are staying safe and well and constructive feedback is always appreciated.
Stay Classy!
