Well, what does Heather want from Leshawna? You're about to find out. Hope you enjoy the chapter! :)

(Heather's POV)

Well… I seriously must be cracked.

But, I knew what I had to do and as absolutely insane as it still sounds even to ME… I couldn't think of literally anyone else.

Ugh, seriously, if 16 year old me saw me doing this right now, then I'm pretty sure she'd be the first one to smack me for even considering doing this.

But then again, I also somehow fell for and got engaged to a guy who I still find both irresistible and insufferable simultaneously so… guess beggars can't be choosers? I've long accepted I've totally lost my mind at this point in my life.

And considering I'm in Leshawna's house right now… Yeah, I'm cracked for sure.

This would be weird enough already, but then… Why the hell did she even invite me in at all?

All I was going to do was give her the card, say what I wanted to say, and then leave. So again… WHY THE HELL AM I IN LESHAWNA'S KITCHEN HAVING COFFEE WITH HER?! And she offered it?

Hmph, maybe I'm not the only one going crazier than Sierra rifling through Cody's duffle bag?

I was pulled out of my weird-ass train of thought as she said, putting a cup of coffee in front of me, "Want anything with it?"

I shook my head and stated plainly, "I'm fine." All she did was shrug and respond nonchalantly, "A'right, suit yourself."

After that she just sat across from me at the table as we both took a sip of coffee in painfully awkward silence.

Eventually she started, sounding like Shane earlier, "So… how did you find me here anyway?" I shrugged and responded matter of factly, "I have my sources. And truth… It's actually kind of a nice house. Is it yours?"

Ugh, what next Heather? Talk about the damn weather like mom always does at the fakeass country club luncheons?

But, Leshawna just shrugged and said, "Well, yeah, pretty much. I bought the house a couple months ago and two of my friends give me rent to help pay the mortgage and live here with me. We have FUN though! Sometimes on my off nights, me and the girls go to my club for a night out and we own the floor. They both work day shift jobs though so it's just me at home right now."

I quirked up an eyebrow and inquired, realizing I had no idea what she even did now that we've been out of high school for almost 4 years, "Your club?"

Then again, duh, I also haven't seen her in almost 4 years so how the hell would I even know anything about her now anyway?

She smirked and tapped her acrylic nails on her cup while letting out a laugh and saying, "Well, not mine, but close to it. I'm a club promoter for this Funk music club around the corner. I just kinda fell into it after high school and love it. Plan events, music, parties… it's a good gig! I've been working for the same club for almost 3 years and they treat me pretty good. Good pay, bonuses, and FUN! I'm lucky."

I gave her a nod as we both just sat in silence and took a sip from our cups until she started, "Okay Heather, not that I don't like hostin' or anything, but… seriously girl, why are you here?"

All I did was shrug and retort slightly, still trying to figure out what the hell I'm doing without looking stupid, "Well, technically I didn't ask to be 'hosted'. You were the one who let me in for whatever weird-ass reason."

Then she gave me that look as she crossed her arms and said, "Um, excuse me? I invited you in since that's how I was raised to treat company. Besides, I can tell ya didn't just stop by to 'say hi' with me after not seein' each other for almost 4 years. If I know anything, you always have somethin' going on. And don't even lie about that one to me."

I was surprised though when she sighed and ran her hand down her face before looking back at me and saying, "But, for real Heather, I'm just over all of it. Even though both of us know we could do this whole damn thing all day long… I'm done. We all gotta grow up sometime and I am sick of playin' around and dealin' with drama. So, what is it that you want from me right now? Cuz if all you're gonna do is be pissy and try to stir the pot with me after I've been nuthin' but nice here, then you can just get outta my house."

I gave her a slight look as I said, shoving the envelope I gave her back on the table sharply and remembering now how much she still irritates me, "Well, maybe you'd KNOW why I came here if you just opened this already!"

She looked down and then went. "Wait a second… you're engaged?"

I looked down and realized I used my left hand to shove the card back at her, my ring in plain sight on my finger. At first I was wondering why she didn't notice until now, but then I realized I still had my winter gloves on earlier.

But that still didn't stop me from getting irritated as I started, "Again, maybe if somebody just opened the damn envelope already then maybe it would answer whatever stupid questions that keep getting asked."

Immediately she gave me a glare as she retorted while opening the card while countering, "Oh, if you wanna be like that then you can!..."

She immediately looked at the save the date card and went dead silent.

About time.

Slowly she looked up at me and said, "Wait, hold up now… You and Alejandro? Since when the hell have you two been?... Ya know what? Nevermind, I don't really wanna know. But… is that why you came here? To invite me to your wedding or somethin'?"

Dammit…

I let out a frustrated grunt before replying, "No! I… I just… Ugh! Okay, look, I'm going to say this once and I'm not going to repeat myself so listen closely. Because I didn't come all the way over just to give you a damn card when I could've just mailed it and saved myself the trouble. I'm here, because… I'm here because I want you to be my maid of honor."

I avoided looking at her for a second until I just saw her looking at me wide eyed.

Well… yeah, shocker.

Eventually, she shook her and said, "Okay, back it up here! You came to ask me to what now?!"

I just rolled my eyes and crossed my arms before shrugging it off, "Look, I already said I wasn't going to repeat myself. You don't have to make such a big deal about it."

She just kept giving a look that was confused to completion, and honestly I can't completely blame her.

Again, even I think I've totally lost it for even doing this. But as weird and totally insane as it sounds, I couldn't think of anyone else to turn to that I even mildly respect.

I had no other time to think about it as she said, "Um, look Heather, not that I'm not flattered, I guess… But, don't ya have sisters or somethin' that could do this for you instead ah me?"

I could immediately feel my insides converge on me as she 'went there' with this whole fucking thing. Instead I just gave her a sharp glare as I responded, short and to the point, "Yeah… and?"

Look, I am not about to go into it.

Because it would be a COLD day in hell before I include either of those lazy, insufferable hookers I call my sisters anywhere near my wedding.

Sure, they're still getting invited just because mom and dad are paying for the wedding and they 'insist we invite all our siblings'.

Even though Alejandro and I would literally rather do anything else than invite the Succubus and the Skeez, I mean Kelsey and José.

But… Alejandro and I already have plans in mind for them as far as our wedding is concerned.

Leshawna just gave me a weird look as she put her hands up and said, "A'right, a'right. But… you still didn't answer my question here?"

Dammit, why even now does she still have to irk me just as much as she did back then?!

Okay, I guess it's time to pull the high card here.

I immediately pulled out my phone and said, "Look, Alejandro's best man is going to be his brother Carlos. He's married but he's a European model and soccer player, think you can deal with walking up and down an aisle with him? If not, then how much do I need to pay you to get you to just 'agree' already?"

She was still giving me a weirded out look and looked like she was about to say something until she finally looked at the picture of Carlos on my phone.

Her mouth fell open slightly and her eyes went wide as she kept staring at the picture of Carlos.

Okay… now we're getting somewhere.

Leshawna sat back and finally looked at me and said, "Married or not, the chance to walk on the arm of a boy that fine? Girl, I'll be there for free."

I felt a wave of satisfaction wash over me as I responded, keeping my composure as I handed my phone number on a piece of paper, "Great. It's a deal. Here's my number. Text me and I'll keep in touch."

I started to get up and walk out as she started, "Wait, that's it? That's all you wanted to do?"

I turned back around, not getting why she was making a big deal about it.

What? Did she think we were going out to get pedicures and drinks together or something after this?

I have other crap to do.

I just shrugged and responded plainly, "Pretty much. Just text me so I have your number to keep you posted, okay?"

({No POV})

Heather was making her way down the street, feeling satisfied that she got Leshawna to agree to come to her wedding as her maid of honor, and getting on to the next portion of her day with going to a linguist she found to help her refine her Spanish.

Mainly to be sure she was fluent as quickly as possible before she officially moved to Spain in 2 years in addition to her insisting Alejandro speak Spanish to her randomly back at their apartment to make sure she could converse easily and not leave any corners cut.

As Heather continued to walk down the street, Leshawna couldn't keep herself from continuing to watch Heather and 'mull over' their most recent interaction on her front stoop outside her house.

Ever since they were 16, Leshawna and Heather always had a very complicated relationship with each other.

Actually, to say that the two had their 'ups and downs' was a BIG understatement.

Although now, Leshawna was confused more than ever about the whole thing. Not just because of the fact that Heather asked her of all people to be the maid of honor at her wedding, but her getting the vibe that there was more to it.

But, unlike many other times in the past, Leshawna could see Heather was actually being 'straight up' with her this time and meant that she wanted her to be her maid of honor.

Maybe there was still more to Heather that Leshawna didn't know?

Which was precisely another reason why Leshawna agreed (apart from the chance to be escorted by a man as handsome as Alejandro's brother Carlos). Leshawna just had this overwhelming curiosity about the whole situation and wasn't about to miss out on this opportunity to maybe make sense out of this whole situation and possibly get some closure through the experience.

And while Leshawna was genuinely serious that she was done with the pointless drama she got involved in her teens… it was like she couldn't resist her morbid curiosity with Heather's invitation to see what was going to happen from this situation.

Leshawna watched as Heather disappeared around the corner and tilted her as she sighed and crossed her arms.

After a couple beats of silence, Leshawna sighed before concluding, "Well Heather, ya really got me on this one. I'll give you that, girl."

With that, Leshawna went back inside her house to get some things done before she had to go into work like usual.

Okay and again… allow me to explain since I'm pretty sure many of you are going 'Heather wanted Leshawna to be her maid of honor?! WHAT?!'. I understand, but again… allow me to explain here. Lol. XD As I was contemplating this whole situation of the Aleheather wedding in my mind, Alejandro to me would 110% have Carlos be his best man. After all, conventionally and from a traditional point of view, Carlos is his older brother whom he regards highly and gets along well with so that made sense why Alejandro would have Carlos be the best man at their wedding. But, Heather? This created quite a tricky situation. After all, Heather dislikes most if not out right despises some {Kelsey and Damien} of her siblings. So the chance of Heather wanting to involve any of her siblings in her wedding (mainly her sisters) was a HUGE 'No' for Heather. Heather is a girl that likes to make a statement no matter what and at first I was going to have her make Shane a 'man of honor' for her wedding. Which is a statement don't get me wrong to buck tradition in that sense! But… it wasn't enough of a 'statement' to me when it comes to Heather. And then a stroke of genius came to me. Leshawna! Again, and as I explained previously, while Heather and Leshawna always had a very 'complicated' relationship through out the show's run… you could see on some very bizarre level at points that there was some weird level of respect between these two. And at the end of the day, I think this is what would make Heather find and approach in her own way to have her be the maid of honor at her wedding since at the end of the day she does have a certain respect for Leshawna never taking any of her crap since day one. That and Heather would want Leshawna as her maid of honor to make a statement, particularly to her sisters. Like Heather would literally give the vibe of "Hey, see this girl who once threw me off a cliff into shark infested waters? THAT'S how much I don't give a crap about either of my sisters if I'd rather have this girl as my maid of honor." Look, gotta give Heather credit where it's due. If Heather knows how to do anything, it's make a statement. And that's why I LOVE her! Haha. XD Then from Leshawna's end, aside from the 'Carlos incentive' lol, she would have genuine yet morbid curiosity to come anyway just to see what ends up going down in this whole thing. After all, wherever Alejandro and Heather go… you sure as hell know nothing 'boring' is going to come of it. This won't be the last time we see Leshawna and she also won't be the last TD character I want to introduce. So stay tuned ya'll! ;) Also, I hope you liked the life I made for a young adult Leshawna. To me, Leshawna (especially in TDI) was SUCH a cool girl and a total queen and I still love her to pieces to this day. So; therefore, I HAD to give her a cool job as a club promoter and living in a house with a couple of friends and partying it up in the city. She deserves it! :) Anyway, thank you all so much for reading and hope you enjoyed the chapter. As always constructive reviews are all appreciated and hope you all are staying safe and doing well!

Stay classy all!
