Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto
Getting a dog hadn't been as simple as either thought. Well it was but Naruto's pockets weren't that deep. Mito should know as she often used said pockets on a regular basis. In the end, Jiraiya had decided to get Naruto the dog simply because Mito read his books.
After that she wore a smug look on her face. He owed her for that one and she would make sure to remimd him of it often. The dog was a bit big really and Naruto had named the animal Kurama. She had pointed out how weird the name was but he stuck with it. Its resemblance was similar to that of a fox if she really thought about it.
Kurama was quite temperamental, the dog had a clear distrust for humans and barely tolerated the duo or anyone else for that matter. Kurama seemed like a boy to her so she would go with that. He was cute, yes but he could use an attitude adjustment.
That was last night's late trip, now she was bored out of her mind in sex ed class. Somehow principal Sarutobi had gotten Jiraiya to come to school for this week.
"It's pretty simple really. I recommend you read my books to learn even more. l even do my own illustration too," he shamelessly told the students. Mito quirked an eyebrow at him but the bell rang before they could call him out on it.
She shook her head and slung her bag over her shoulder before walking out of class at her steady pace.
"Wait up!"she heard a familiar voice call out to her. The redhead stopped herself and turned to meet Kiba.
"Yes?" she said, a bit confused. She assumed he must have wanted to talk about something important if it could not wait till after class.
"Listen, l was uh, wondering if you wanted to hang out later, you know, al-alone," he said, suddenly flustered. She was pretty confused as Kiba was often more confident than this. Eh, she would indulge her friend for now. It would be amusing for both and she would get to know him more. She was always the type that explored every possible route.
"Sure," with that she turned as she completely missed Kiba jumpingg for joy behind. Suddenly, her day seemed more interesting. She stopped as an idea came to mind.
"Actually..." she started as Kiba deflated when he heard her speak.
"Yes?" he asked cautiously.
"Let's make it a double date," she said it so casually and confidently that he was beginning to wonder what he got himself into. At least hlshe had said date but who was coming with them.
"Naruto and Hinata," the answer came as she smiled to herself and nodded sagely about something.
She walked off, happy with the sudden turn of events, she just hoped Hinata would not pass out. Mito was quite sure she could get Naruto to come with her.
"Why am l coming again?" Naruto asked as Mito brushed her hair. He was leaned against the door of her room with an inquisitive look on his face. It looked totally out of place on him. She quietly snickered to herself as she finally turned to face the blonde.
"Because..." she started as she already sounded exhausted by it. "...you and Hinata are in the play together ne," she started as he gave a slight nod.
"This will help you get more comfortable with each other," she wanted to say more, even if she was lying but he spoke first.
"I'm already comfortable with her," he spoke honestly.
"Yes, but she isn't with you," naturally, he was worried that one of his friends was uncomfortable with him and was suddenly on board. He made these things too easy for her.
Did she feel guilty about lying to her cousin? Maybe just a bit but he would see it was for his own benefit. Boys like him had to have girlfriends at this point right?
She didn't have to explain her motives. She was simply trying to help Hinata with her hopeless situation. And Kiba, how the hell did he fit into this situation? Mito pinched the bridge of her nose. This was suddenly way too complicated. She would have to turn him down and Naruto had better be grateful for her help, of course he hadn't actually said he wanted it in the first place.
'So Hinata should be the thankful one,' Mito corrected in her thoughts. She turned to Naruto they casually walked along the road to meet with the others at some random restaurant Kiba had picked.
"Nervous?" he asked and she shook her head. She had no romantic interest in how this would turn out, well at least not for her. It was clear Naruto was hoping for a good time and wasn't nervous at all. So he was in the same position as her, carefree.
She just hoped it went well.
