After the match, Val was whooping it up with Henry and Draco as Otis helped the other two adults get a fire going.
Valerie smiled as she sat down. "Krum is so amazing. I swear he's almost an artist on a broom."
Henry laughed brightly. "He should have been an artist."
Draco suddenly sat bolt upright as he heard the sounds of unnatural screams. "What was that?"
Val sat up with Henry, both of them having a bad feeling.
Nelly ducked her head inside the tent from checking out the disturbance with the others. "We gotta run now!"
The kids looked at each other before heading out quickly, seeing the chaos and burning tents as one person ran by them with a shout: "GET OUT, IT'S THE DEATH EATERS!"
Otis ran over. "Back to the Portkeys, everybody, and stick together!"
The trio started making a mad dash through the campsite away from the cloaked men that were causing the fires.
As Val ran through the crowd and lost track of Draco and Henry along the way, she caught a glimpse of Harry trying to get past the panicking crowd and grabbed his jacket, pulling him over to her group. "Come on, this way!"
Harry nodded and let her lead him down the path, the two making it to a shelter point and ducking out of sight as they covered each other up and held each other close while listening to the deafening screams.
At some point, the screaming and panic must've stopped because Val lifted her head and looked out at the remnants of the chaos, gasping slightly. "Jesus..." The overwhelming smell of burnt flesh was hitting her nose so hard, it was almost making her puke.
Harry looked over with her and shook his head. "Bloody hell. It's a wonder the security didn't pick up anything."
Val heard a sound like someone had kicked something and quickly yanked Harry down again, both of them staying silent as they watched a man walk through the rubble and pause nearby before he raised his wand. "MORSMORDE!"
Out of the man's wand shot a green light that flew into the sky and exploded, forming a green skull with a snake slithering out of it, like it was pure magic.
Val took a shuddering breath, recognizing the image from her studies on Dark Magic. "Holy Helsing, that's the Dark Mark! It's Voldemort's mark!"
Harry looked at her in surprise that she'd say the name of the dark wizard who nearly killed him as a baby, but when he looked back, he saw that the man had noticed them and was coming their way! "Uh-oh, move!" He grabbed Val and pulled her to a more unnoticeable spot, both teens keeping an eye and ear out on the footsteps.
Suddenly, they heard the voices of their friends in the distance as the man fled the scene, Ron and Henry calling out to the two teenagers: "Harry! Where are you?" "Valerie!"
They looked around as the other four teens ran up to them, Ron speaking for the group; "Been looking for you for ages. Thought we lost you, mates."
Henry looked at the sky and saw the Mark. "Uh, guys? What the hell is that?!"
Val looked up with Harry, the Boy Who Lived wincing as his scar flared in pain.
All of a sudden, she whipped around. "Get down!" She yanked the others down as a chorus of male voices rang out; "STUPEFY!" She kept them down, hearing Hermione's yelp.
"STOP! THAT'S MY SON!" Mr. Weasley's voice shouted as he and Otis ran through the group of wizards and to the six kids. "Boys, Hermione, Valerie, are you alright?!"
Val nodded. "We're fine."
An older man ran up to the six kids and aimed his wand at them. "Which of you conjured it?"
She looked at the man. "Are you nuts?! None of us did it!"
"Do not lie!" The man cut her off. "You have been discovered at the scene of the crime!"
Harry stepped forward. "It wasn't us, sir. Someone else conjured that Mark. It was an older man, I'd say in his thirties, perhaps about... uh, 182, 183 centimeters, dark hair. That's all we know. Neither Val nor I got a good glimpse of his face."
Crouch pushed Harry's bangs back, noticing the scar and nodding. "You are the Potter Boy, yes?"
Harry nodded in confirmation.
Crouch looked at his fellow Ministry members. "This way!" He ran to where Harry had indicated, followed by the group
Otis looked at Harry. "Who do you think it could've been, Harry?"
Harry looked at the elder vampire. "I don't know, Mr. Otis. He seemed kind of... familiar, I guess. But something tells me that won't be the last time he shows up, that's for sure." He looked at the Mark, knowing that another crazy adventure had just reared its ugly head.
It sure has. We'll meet the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons crews next chapter and a lot of questions will be asked. Read and review!
