A few hours later,
Morning time
The night was not restful for the older woman. She awoke at every sound to make sure Amanda and Aniyah were safe.
Carisi went to get them some breakfast. Aniyah was still sleeping next to Amanda, who was already up.
A few seconds later, the doctor walked through the door.
"Good morning miss Rollins." the doctor said.
The doctor looked at Amanda's chart once more before she began speaking
"You will be sore for a few days, but I can release you tomorrow morning." The doctor said,
"I just have to ask..." the doctor added
"The condition you were in when you arrived at the hospital. Do you consent to having a rape kit done?" The doctor asked,
"A rape kit," Amanda repeated
"I... um," she trailed off.
"Amanda," Olivia offered quietly
"I know it's not the easiest thing... but I promise I'll be right by your side if you want." Olivia said
"Yes, I'll do one," Amanda said
"Okay. I will have someone here in a few minutes." the doctor said.
"Thank you, doctor," she said as the doctor finished and walked out the door.
A few minutes later,
Aniyah shot up from her sleep from another nightmare.
"Hey sweetheart, it's okay. You're safe here." Amanda said, as Aniyah started looking around.
"Was it the same nightmare?" Amanda whispers to Aniyah.
"No." Aniyah said as Carisi walked into the room with breakfast.
"Who is hungry?" Carisi asked
"Me. What did you get?" Aniyah asked
"Coffee for the grownup, apple juice for you and bagels." Carisi said as he handed everyone their food.
A few minutes later, they heard a knock at the door. Amanda took a deep breath and then nodded to have Olivia welcome the visitor in.
"Hello, I'm DR. Smith and I will be doing your rape kit." Dr. Smith said
"Hello." Amanda and Olivia said at the same time as they watched the M.E finish her preparations
Dr. Smith asked the typical examination questions to begin with.
"Before I started, only one other person can be in the room with you." Dr. smith said
"Okay, I think this is a good time for you to get out of the room, Aniyah." Carisi said
"No." Aniyah said as her breathing became faster and faster, and she began hyperventilating.
"Hey hey," Amanda said as she leapt into action.
"You're ok, baby girl, just breathe, " she murmured, resting her palm on Aniyah's heaving chest.
But Aniyah's breathing just got worse.
"If she doesn't get her breathing under control, she is going to faint." The doctor said as she watched Aniyah breathing before she called for some help.
A few seconds later, three nurses came running into the hospital room.
"We are going to have to sedate her or she is going to pass out." The nurses said as she was moving closer to Aniyah.
"No touch." Aniyah said as she moved away from them, but closest to Amanda.
"Hey baby girl, it's okay. They are just trying to help you." Amanda said,
"No." Aniyah said as tears ran down her eyes as she hugged her mom.
"Can't she just stay with her mom?" Olivia asked as another woman walked into the room.
"Yes, she can. After what happened here we know Aniyah is afraid of leaving her mom's side." The doctor said,
"Lily, what are you doing here?" Amanda asked as she felt Aniyah calmed down just a little after hearing what Lily got to say.
"I heard Aniyah was having a meltdown. You have given her the sedate now." Lily said as the nurse carefully injected the light sedative into Aniyah's arm and immediately she relaxed in Amanda's embrace.
"Okay, you are going to have to do the rape kit later. Next time please don't get Aniyah to leave or the same thing will happen." Lily said,
"Okay." the doctor said as she and the nurse walked out the room.
"Amanda, I will be back later to check on her and to make an appointment too." Lily said,
"Thanks again." Amanda said,
"No problem." Lily said as she walked out of the room.
Once Lily left, Olivia decided it was time to understand what has been happening with Aniyah ever since the kidnapping.
"What just happened?" Olivia asked
"Aniyah just had a meltdown." Carisi said
"Because she has separation anxiety. Lily is Aniyah's therapist. And I'm not ready to tell you the reason yet and neither is Aniyah." Amanda said
"Okay, whenever you are ready." Olivia said,
"Thanks, Liv." Amanda said as she kissed the top of Aniyah forehand
A few hours later,
The doctor came back and did Amanda's rape kit while Aniyah was still asleep. Olivia was right by Amanda's side the whole time.
Lily also came back and made an appointment for Aniyah tomorrow afternoon.
