One week later,
Amanda was working at her desk when a woman walked into the squad room.
"Amanda." The older women said
"Kalisha, what are you doing here? "Amanda asked
Kalisha is Aniyah's grandmother.
"I am here for my granddaughter." Kalisha said.
"I'm sorry but I never knew that you were going to get Aniyah." Amanda said
"I never knew that I needed your permission to get my granddaughter." Kalisha said,
"Also from now on, she will live with me and Isaac in Atlanta, Georgia." Kalisha said
"Said who?" Amanda yelled and got a little mad.
"Said her grandparent. Isaac and I have been talking and we both think that Aniyah will be better off with us instead of you." Kalisha said,
"Yeah, you really think she would be safer off with you instead of me." Amanda yelled at her as tears ran down her face.
Olivia was in her office when she started hearing yelling outside her office. She got up from her chair and watched over the door. When she walked out of her office, she saw Amanda and some women fighting.
"What is happening here?" Olivia asked
"Nothing important, she was just leaving." Amanda said as she quickly wiped away her tears from her face.
Kalisha was just about to say something, but Aniyah walked into the squad room.
"Grandma Kalisha, what are you doing here?" Aniyah asked as she slowly was up to them.
"I'm here to take you home." Kelisha said
Aniyah stood there in shock for a hot second before she said something.
"I don't want to live with you. I want to stay here with mom." Aniyah said
"Do you really want to stay here with this woman who doesn't even care about you, or do you want to come to a loving household with me?" Kelisha said
"Yes, I would rather live with my mom than my crazy abusive grandparents." Aniyah yelled.
"Okay, I think you should leave right now." Olivia said
"Not without my granddaughter." Kelisha said,
"No, you lost your right to have her a long time ago, so you are not her grandparents anymore." Amanda yelled at her.
"You little bitch. I have the right to get my granddaughter since you killed my son." Kelisha said as she slapped Amanda in the face.
Then two other cops came running over to them.
"Mama, leave or you are going to be arrested for an assault on an office." The office said.
"Fine, you can keep your worthless daughter." Kelisha said as she stormed out of the squad room.
"Amanda," Olivia nearly whispered at the young blonde's lack of reaction. She placed a concerned hand on her daughter's shoulder, but Amanda quickly pulled away.
"please, just... just give me a minute. I need to clear my head... alone." Amanda said, as she walked away from them.
"Aniyah, are you okay, honey?" Olivia asked as she looked over at her granddaughter.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It is not the first time Kelisha showed up unannounced." Aniyah said,
"Is she also likes that?" Olivia asked
"Yeah, she just hates mom." Aniyah said
"Why?" Olivia asked
"Because she thinks my mom tried to take her son away from her and because she thinks my mom cannot be a mother because of her gambling addiction." Aniyah said,
"I'm sorry that she is like that." Olivia said
"It's okay, but on the bright side I have a better grandmother." Aniyah said,
"Thanks, sweetheart." Olivia said as she hugged her granddaughter.
A few minutes later, Oliva finally decided that she would check on Amanda.
"I'm going to check on your mom." Olivia said
"Okay." Aniyah said
The bunk room
"Amanda?" Olivia said as she stood in the doorway, but the blonde did not show hearing the older woman.
"Amanda, honey," she tried again, but still got no response. .
Olivia entered the room and sat down beside her daughter. She quietly placed a gentle hand on the young detective's back, but the sudden contact made Amanda jump a little.
"Jesus, Liv," Amanda exclaimed as she noticed her mother's presence.
"You almost gave me a heart attack!" She said as she stood.
"I'm sorry Amanda, but I tried calling you several times." Olivia said,
"How are you doing?" Olivia asked
"I'm going better. How is Aniyah?" Amanda asked
"She is doing fine." Olivia said,
"I just can't get over the fact that Aniyah family is super fucked up. She is in the middle of everyone and the only reason they want her is because they want her far away from me." Amanda said
"Yeah, no, Aniyah told no, me they did not like you." Olivia said
"Oh no, they hate me. They hated me since they found out that I gambled and after everything with Patton." Amanda said.
"They are not your family, Amanda. Jesse, Billie, Aniyah, Carisi Noah, Kat and Fin We're your family. They are nothing to you." Olivia finished as she pulled Amanda into a hug.
"Thanks, mom, for being here," Amanda said
"There's no place I'd rather be," Olivia said
The pair stayed like that for several minutes until a gentle knock at the door
Aniyah was standing on the other side, worried about her mom.
A few hours later,
Amanda household
Noah and Olivia were at Amanda's place for a while.
Jesse and Bille were already sleeping in the room while Noah took a nap in the living room before he and Olivia had to leave.
So Aniyah, Amanda and Olivia were the only one awake.
They all were watching a movie when Aniyah spoke.
"Could we do a family vacation?" Aniyah asked
"Vacation." Amanda and Olivia said at the same time.
"Yeah, I think we need to establish what real family bonds are now that we are a family. And it would be nice to get away from the city." Aniyah said.
"That sounds like a good plan, actually a great one," Amanda smiled
"Where did you have in mind?" Olivia asked
"France." Aniyah said
"France?" Amanda asked
"Yeah." Aniyah said
"Okay, and since you and Olivia speak French, that would make things easier." Amanda said
"So what do yall think?" Aniyah asked
Amanda and Olivia looked at each other before they spoke.
"I think we have a plan, then. A family vacation is just what we need, our first of many I hope." Olivia said
"Really." Aniyah said
"Yeah really." Amanda said,
"Yay." Aniyah said
