Chapter 3: The Great Debate
One cool first Monday of August 2021, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri along with some of my other best friends, Carly Shay and Spencer Puckett, as well as Carly's stepdad, Freddie Benson at the Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties office in Monroeville. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. Carly, Spencer, and Mr. Benson were preparing their slumber party debate questions. They included the thought of starting sleepover parties earlier than stated to include dinner and chatting with each other, being able to drive ourselves to our own slumber parties if we are 16 years old and older, bumping up the slumber party age from 8 to 14 years old to 10 years old and older, prolonging a slumber party if there are additional, special activities involved, bringing your own food and drinks to a slumber party, and if one is college, getting their own part-time job to pay for their own slumber party in addition to college classes. Our favorite songs from Santana and NSYNC were playing as we took part in the debate. "Those were interesting debate questions, Carly," Sarah remarked. "Why thank you, Sarah!" Carly remarked. "I thought it was pretty cool that you learned to drive when you were 15 years old, Spencer," James remarked. "It's true, James," Spencer agreed. "The big 1-5!" "That reminds me," I stated. "Our next client, Madison Dayley, is also 15 years old, and she will be hosting this month's Hollywood Glitz and Glam Sleepover on August 21. Do you think that Madison will learn how to drive herself?" "It's possible," Sarah agreed. "Mr. Benson, I miss working at this office with you," Henri stated. "Do you have any idea how much longer this work separation will last?" "I'm not really sure, Henri," Mr. Benson agreed. "But, I miss working with you, too." "I liked your debate questions, Carly," Sarah remarked. "My favorite was making a slumber party longer if there are additional, special activities involved." "I remember in the spring of my freshman year of high school, I wanted to go bowling at Zone 28 to make this super-special, but, I had to ask my parents first," Carly stated. "Does any of that sound familiar to you, Sarah?" "I guess that happens to everyone," Sarah agreed. "I am not sure if Madison will have additional, special activities planned for her sleepover, even though it's just all about Hollywood and being famous," I stated. "I also wonder when we are going to be able to all work together in this same office." "Only time will tell, Angel," Sarah told me. We also had time for some additional activities together, such as blindfolded makeovers with Sarah and Carly, a sleeping bag relay race with James and Spencer, and a pillow fight with Henri and Mr. Benson. Pretty soon, it was time for all of us to leave. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
