Shenlo POV Mission to the Land of Waves

Naruto and I walked down the streets of Konoha toward training ground seven. The dim light of the morning limited the number of people out and about. Those who were out and about were typically construction workers or those who needed ingredients for a breakfast. The streets had been rather empty today, although it was normal for the streets to be empty.

After walking forty minutes to training ground seven, we arrived to see Sasuke waiting for us. He wore a high collared navy blue shirt with the Uchiha clan symbol on his back. He also wore blue open-toed sandals, he also wore white shorts with a kunai pouch on his right hip.

I personally disliked the fact that he didn't focus on other parts of the shinobi way except for Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu.

Kakashi had tested us three on chakra natures. I went first and got the same results from before when Yamato had me do it. Sasuke went next and got two natures, Fire and Lightning with the primary being Lightning. Naruto went and it surprised me a little. He had gotten wind and water, and he had another bloodline separate from the one I asked the fox to give him. He inherited the Uzumaki Adamantium Chains from his mother.

Kakashi was surprised at all three of us more so Naruto and me, than Sasuke. Sasuke was jealous as he had yet to unlock his Sharingan. I slightly pity the boy as he also went through a large amount of pain.

I was interrupted when Naruto squeezed my hand bringing me back to reality. I looked up at Naruto, he looked away a slight blush on his face. I saw Kakashi approaching us. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Sasuke with another look of jealousy on his face.

"Odd," I thought.

Focusing back on our Sensei listened in to his instructions.

"Okay, since Naruto and Shenlo have mastered the basics and advanced general chakra control, I'm going to have you work on chakra nature control. Sasuke I want you to continue the tree-climbing exercise. I'm leaving you a clone for any questions, and if it catches you not trying it will start throwing kunai at you." Kakashi spoke.

Sasuke nodded fearfully, as Kakashi made the necessary hand seals. A clone popped into existence. Sasuke ran toward the tree and started to run up the tree as far as he could before falling.

Naruto and I followed Kakashi to the other side of the training ground. "Okay you two, you are going to each make fifty shadow clones. I want you Shenlo to have your clones split into groups of ten, one for each chakra nature. Naruto, your's will split into two groups of twenty-five. For wind, you will grab a leaf and concentrate the chakra to split the leaf in half. If you don't use enough it won't split all the way, if you use too much your leaf will cut into too many pieces. Fire fire, I want you to burn the leaf, for water I want you to make the water wet, for the earth, I want the leaf to crumble completely, and for lightning, I want the leaf to shrink into a ball. While your clones are doing that, I want you to focus on your bloodlines. Naruto I want you to make as many chains as you can, and hold them for as long as you can. After that I want you to make chains appear off the chains already made. Shenlo, I want you to simultaneously control your nature release and metal release." Kakashi spoke giving a small lecture.

Nodding in understanding Naruto and I quickly made the necessary hand seals for the shadow clone jutsu. A moment the training ground filled with smoke. The smoke cleared to reveal multiple copies of ourselves. The clones quickly set off to do their tasks.

I sat ten yards from Naruto. We both sat on the ground in a lotus position, gathering our chakra. Out of Naruto's arms and back, chains began to emerge at a quick pace. They were orange in color and looked translucent, not quite opaque but not clear. They seemed to almost bubble in the air.

I concentrated on dividing the chakra straight down the middle of my body. I grabbed a few shuriken and kunai and laid them before me on the right side of my body. I let my chakra out toward the metal objects, the objects seemed to melt into a large puddle before lifting off the ground. The size and shape changed form every twenty seconds. I changed the density of the metal. I then commanded the metal to slowly cover my body making a set of armor around my body.

I concentrated on the nature release, making vines of all types come from my hands and back. The vines were green, brown, some were thorned, others with blade-like leaves. Some poisonous others that were carnivorous. I commanded some metal to rise up out of the ground and wrap around the plants. I also made bushes of black roses surround me.

After another twenty minutes, Kakashi had us three run a bell test.

Sasuke came up to us covered in sweat. "I made it to the top of the tree." He spoke while panting.

"Good. We are going to run another bell test. This time we will have three bells instead of two. Only this time the punishment for failing won't be disqualified from the shinobi corps but rather a very intense training regiment with my rival Maito Gai. However you will have to were weight, resistance seals, and gravity seals." Kakashi spoke, with sadistic glee.

"Kami! I knew I shouldn't have forced him to stop reading his smut." I thought.

With that said, the test began. We all shunsinned to the treeline, where we met up and discussed how to get the bells from Kakashi.

"Ok, I'll distract him with abilities I haven't shown Kakashi yet. I will attempt to keep him in place, Naruto you will have to run quickly by Kakashi when Sasuke throws a fireball at him. Sasuke, after you throw the fireball, wait one whole second before throwing multiple kunai into the flames toward Kakashi. Alright, let's go." I said receiving nods of understanding from the two.

I stepped out of the woods to see Kakashi staring at me. He looked almost bored. I started making the hand seals for a jutsu.

I stuck my hand out in front of me with my index finger extended, I quickly called out, "Raiton: Inazuma bimu no jutsu (Lightning Release: Lightning beam technique)." This time I didn't hold back on the chakra input. A small ball of light began to appear in front of my finger, it quickly began to increase in size. A moment later a large and very fast beam of lightning shot forward at deadly speeds. Kakashi's eyes widened for a moment. He quickly dodged the attack letting the beam slam into the trees and continued going. It wasn't long before Kakashi had to start dodging more attacks as I mentally commanded the elements to start attacking him.

Sasuke saw his chance and formed the hand seals for his jutsu, with a quick call of, "Katon: Gokakyu no jutsu(Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique)." He brought his hands to his mouth and exhaled, spitting a large fireball at Kakashi. A second later he threw multiple kunai into the flames.

Kakashi felt the spike of chakra and looked up distracted by the incoming fireball he slammed into my earth element. A moment later, Kakashi was hit with the kunai. Kakashi fell to the ground, and Naruto saw his chance.

Naruto took his weights off, and deactivated his resistance seals, and beelined for the three bells. Naruto got to Kakashi and had his hands wrapped around the bells when Kakashi poofed into smoke.

Naruto slightly chuckled knowing that Kakashi wasn't fast enough with the body swap jutsu.

Moving back into the trees, we met up. Naruto tossed each of us a bell. We walked back out to where the posts were at.

"Nani? Kakashi-Sensei, the test is over the bells are in our hands!" Naruto yelled out.

Kakashi poofed back into existence in front of the posts, a small look of surprise mixed in with a look of pride. "Good job team. We will take a C-rank mission today." He spoke.

We all nodded, slightly excited to get out of the village. We walked toward the Hokage building to receive our mission. We walked up the stairs and down the long hallway. Kakashi knocked on the door to the Hokage's office. After hearing a short reply we entered the room.

Kakashi spoke quickly, "Hokage-sama we are here for a C-rank mission."

The Hokage was about to speak but was interrupted by Iruka. "What! Are you sure your Genin are ready! Shenlo I can understand, Sasuke maybe, Naruto a little less. Still, It's only been four months since graduation, most genin squads don't take a C-rank mission until after six months." Iruka ranted.

Before Kakashi or the Hokage could speak, I interrupted. "With all due respect to you Kakashi-Sensei, and to you Hokage-sama, and you as well Iruka-san. We aren't your students anymore. Since we graduated four months ago we have exited your jurisdiction and entered the shinobi corp. You are not our Sensei, and you do not know our skill level or how much it has increased over the last four months. We are perfectly capable enough to do a simple C-rank mission."

Iruka looked surprised and if possible angrier. "Hokage-sama, you can not possibly be thinking of letting them go on a C-rank mission. Especially after what happened with Team eleven." Iruka spoke.

Hiruzen and Kakashi paled. Naruto and Sasuke hid behind Kakashi. The anbu and the shinobi at the base of the Hokage building froze in place scared to move and even breathe.

I looked at Iruka with rage on my face. Iruka feeling the sudden tension in the room looked at me. Suddenly we could see Iruka's body slowly compress into his chair as I slowly walked forward.

Hiruzen went to speak, but I gave him a warning glance effectively stopping the comment.

"You dare say that it was team eleven's fault for taking a bandit extermination mission? That it was my fault as the temporary mission leader that I chose the type of mission that we had completed numerous times before? Was it my team's fault that our luck had finally caught up to us and run out? Was it my fault that on our way to the location of the bandit camp that we ran into two S-rank nuke-nin? Or was it that you didn't prepare your own students better to be prepared for the life that we face in the world of Shinobi?" I yelled at Iruka. With each question, I added more and more killer intent.

Finally, I calmed down and relented my ki. Iruka spoke, "Your right. I haven't prepared my student enough. No, it wasn't your fault as a teammate, student, temporary mission leader, and no it wasn't your fault that your luck finally ran out. Also, no it was not your fault that your team ran into two S-rank missing-nin. I'm sorry I shouldn't have said what I said." Iruka apologized.

I walked back over to team seven and stood in line next to Kakashi. Naruto walked past me to my other side, he gave me a pat on the shoulder for comfort.

Breaking the awkward tension with a cough Hiruzen began to speak.

"I only have one available C-rank mission right now. It is an escort mission. If you are willing to accept it, it would be much appreciated." Receiving a nod from Kakashi, Hiruzen continued, "Very well. You will be escorting a bridge builder named Tazuna. He requires protection from highwaymen and bandits on his return journey to the Land of waves. You will stay in the land of waves until the bridge is finished." Hiruzen spoke gaining a nod from all four of us.

"Bring in the client," Hiruzen spoke pressing a button on his desk.

A moment later an old man, big enough to compete with Mr. Sagomuri walked in. He carried a large bottle of sake, obviously drunk.

In a slurred voice he spoke, "Now that's what I call the best of the top of the line protection."

Kakashi spoke next, "Okay meet at the main gate in an hour, go home and pack your stuff. Have enough for multiple weeks."

We nodded and left. Sasuke went out the door, Kakashi lept up to the roof and disappeared. Tazuna was dragged out of the room by a chunin, and Naruto and I shunsinned back to my apartment.

Penthouse Apartment Building

We walked into the penthouse where Naruto and I live. It was luxurious, to say the least. Fancy sofa's and couches decorated the large living room. The kitchen was top of the line, and massive, it had its own room larger than the living room. Our rooms were upstairs and each had our own bathrooms and a built-in hot spring. Back down on the main floor, you would be able to find our individual studies. We also had a weight lifting room.

We went up to our rooms and packed our things. Grabbing multiple scrolls I was finally prepared. I picked up a scroll premade with shinobi equipment for each level of rank. I also grabbed a scroll for food and clothing. I also packed a scroll with extra scrolls in it just in case.

I got dressed in my black bodysuit this time with kusari(look it up) covering it as well as another thin layer of metal. Over that, I wore a grey shirt that had prebuilt insheathes. I put on a pair of grey shorts with the pouches attached. I put on my black open-toed sandals. I strapped my Naginata to my back, and my broadsword to my waist on my right hip specifically.

I picked up my Kusarigama and concentrated. A moment later it turned into a full-sized scythe. It looked like the scythe made from death. ( . /thecreatureworldcc/images/e/ed/Deaths_scythe .png/revision/latest?cb=20200516211841 delete the spaces to get the picture)

I slung it onto my back next to my Naginata. I walked toward the door of the penthouse. Calling out to Naruto I waited, "Hurry up Naruto, we will be late." A mumbled reply could be heard from Naruto's room. A few minutes later Naruto ran out of his room, dressed in black tapered pants, black open-toed sandals, a black long sleeve shirt with a kusari underneath it. He wore a half-mask hiding his whiskers, mouth, and nose. Strapped to his back was his O-katana, Zetsubo no esupada(translates to Espada of Despair, Espade means sword in English. So the sword's name is the Sword of Despair.)

Village gates

We shunsinned to the gates. We arrived just in time, as Tazuna had just arrived, and Kakashi and Sasuke were already waiting for us.

Road

We departed not long after. As we ran I came up with names for my scythe and naginata. For my scythe, I came up with Hungerer, Spine of the Setting Sun. For my Naginata, I came up with Deshimēshonpurejjiburēkā. (It translates to Decimation Pledge breaker. It was the closest I could get to Oathbreaker of Decimation. I will refer to the Naginata as Oathbreaker for the convenience of typing.)

I was brought out of my thoughts as Kakashi threw a rock at me. I looked over at him curiously. He signed to me in anbu code. "Puddle up ahead, obvious trap, be prepared."

I nodded and looked back ahead as we ran closer to it. It hadn't rained in weeks. Who could possibly be stupid enough to hide in a genjutsu without trying to make it look realistic so as to make it hard to notice? Nevertheless, I got prepared to act, moving to the back of the formation, Naruto took my spot, Sasuke to Naruto's and Kakashi to Sasuke's with Tazuna in the middle, somehow keeping up with us.

We crossed over the puddle and Immediately it disappeared and out popped three no-name C-rank nuke-nin.

I slowed and spun around leaving a trail of dust in front of me as I slid backward. The three men ran toward me. Each armed with a tanto they raised their arms above their heads and aimed to swing down toward me. I reached my hand around my back and grabbed Hungerer. I kicked out with my right leg knocking all three to the ground behind me. I brought the handle of the scythe up to my hand and swung the scythe.

The fight was over before it had a chance to begin. The blade of the scythe easily went through the three men's torso's, cutting through tissue, bone, and organs.

I wiped the blood off the blade and walked back over to the rest of the group. Tazuna looked nervous and was sweating more than usual. Kakashi spoke, "Tazuna-san you said you needed protection from highwaymen and bandits, not shinobi. This mission is now B-rank at the highest. Tell me the truth now, why are there shinobi after you?" Kakashi asked.

"Well, well. Ah, fine you got me. The land of Waves has been taken over by a man named Gato. He is evil and despicable. He has deprived our nation's resources almost to the brink and rules with an iron fist. We didn't have enough money to pay for anything higher than a C-rank mission. Please you have to help us, my bridge is our only chance at freedom." Tazuna pleaded.

Kakashi turned to Sasuke, Naruto, and I. We each looked at each other before looking back at Kakashi and nodded. An unspoken agreement to continue the mission.

Kakashi spoke, "We will help the land of waves. Not out of pity or need. But out of the image of Konoha. If we back out now, and willingly let a land of people be oppressed by large business, then Konoha will be looked down upon."

Tazuna cheered. "Thank you so much. You don't know how much this means to me, you really don't."

Afterward, we continued running. The trees turned to brown and green blurs as we ran past them. Falling leaves could barely be seen as we ran past them. The wind rushed past our ears giving us a rough estimate of how fast we were moving.

After an hour of running had passed, we arrived at the boat dock. The fog on the lake was so massive that even as we crossed the river on our paddled boat, we could only see the outline of the massive bridge to our right.

"Woah, that's a large bridge," I spoke quietly. Not believing my eyes I nudged Naruto and beckoned toward the bridge. His eyes bulged as he realized the size of the bridge as well.

Land of Waves

After another twenty minutes of paddling, we reached the shore. We got out of the boat in a vegetative spot of land, with plenty of tall grass, and lots of trees. We continued on toward Tazuna's house.

We had been walking when I felt something wrong. I stopped walking alerting Kakashi and Naruto. Soon after Sasuke and Tazuna stopped as well. I sniffed the air. I listened closely to the area around us, ignoring the calls of birds and wildlife.

I heard the breathing of a medium-sized man. Further away I heard the breathing of a teenager, obviously trained in stealth. I smelled the lingering smell of marijuana and sex. Pinpointing the location of the person, I also checked if they had the ability to use chakra.

I suddenly thrust my arm in the direction of the man following us, just as Kakashi was about to speak. A large blast of circulating wind tore through the brush of the trees around us. A man came out of the brush. Kakashi and I recognized the man quickly despite the man now being completely covered in cuts. He was a missing-nin from Konoha.

His name was Aoi Rokusho. A current Jounin from Amegakure. He was labeled in the bingo book as an S-rank shinobi.

Kakashi immediately yelled, "Everyone, protect Tazuna, I'll deal with this." We all surrounded Tazuna, confident in Kakashi's abilities.

"Ah, Kakashi of the Sharingan. What a pleasant surprise. It would be really helpful if you could give me the old man. I'm in a bit of a bind you see, If I don't get the old man, then I don't get paid." Aoi spoke.

"I'm sorry but I simply can not do that," Kakashi replied as he lifted his headband to reveal his implanted Sharingan eye.

The two jounin rushed at each other, Sword to Kunai. They clashed with each other, multiple strikes every second. Sparks flying everywhere. Eventually, Kakashi and Aoi sped up so fast that we lost track of them.

After a few minutes of constant clashing, they reappeared in a deadlock. Both jounin looked completely exhausted. Then suddenly Aoi kicked Kakashi's legs out from beneath him. As Aoi went for a killing strike, Naruto and I appeared blocking his blade the Raijin no Ken.

"I don't care who you are or that you are a shinobi, it is dishonorable to strike at an opponent when he is falling," I spoke anger in my voice. "Naruto, you and Kakashi get back. This is about to get intense."

Naruto sheathed Zetsubo no Esupada and grabbed Kakashi and ran back toward Tazuna.

I grabbed Ryuujin Jakka and extended out my arms, I increased the density of the sword and spoke. "Prepare to be defeated Aoi Rokusho. Prepare to meet your demise at the hands of the Elemental Reaper of Death."

Aoi looked shocked for a moment before going back to normal. In that moment of shock, I swung my broad sword at Aoi. Unfortunately, Aoi blocked the strike instead of being decapitated. We clashed in a beautifully deadly dance of sparks and blood. We would occasionally trade blows.

I eventually grew tired of swinging my sword and kicked Aoi back. As Aoi was pushed back, I swung my blade and knocked his own from his hands. It clattered to the ground a few feet away. I jumped into a roll toward the blade, simultaneously as Aoi did. Fortunately, I won and got there first. I picked up the blade and sealed it in a storage seal on my arm.

I held my blade at Aoi's throat.

"Any last words?" I asked.'

"Yeah, fuck you," Aoi spoke.

I brought back my arm and prepared to swing. All of a sudden Aoi was on the ground. Seemingly dead. A hunter-nin suddenly appeared.

"Thank you for your assistance I had been tracking him for months. I must go dispose of the body elsewhere." The nin spoke quietly and disappeared before I could say anything.

With nothing else to do but continue onward, we left toward Tazuna's home. After another five minutes of walking, we arrived. Tazuna knocked on the door. A young woman opened the door, once she saw Tazuna she hugged him tightly. "Tou-san you're back already. You must be tired. Inari-kun your grandfather is home." She yelled.

A small clunking sound could be heard coming down the stairs. A small child around the age of six to seven years appeared on the stairs. "Ojisan!" The child I presumed was Inari yelled.

Kakashi spoke tiredly, "I'm sorry to ask this of you but do you by chance have an extra room we could possibly stay in for the time being? At least until our mission is completed?"

"Of course, of course. Come in. My name is Tsunami, this is my son Inari. The guest bedroom is upstairs." She spoke in a soft voice.

Kakashi nodded and left up the stairs, we all followed him. Once upstairs in the room, Kakashi spoke. "Aoi isn't dead. Only in a death-like state. The hunter nin was most likely an accomplice."

"So how much time do we have until the next encounter?" Sasuke asked.

"I would probably say about a week and a half. I would also guarantee that next time we will have more than the hunter-nin and Aoi to deal with. So I will be training you all extra hard." Kakashi spoke.

After a short while, we all ate dinner.

During dinner, I couldn't help but ask, "I'm sorry to ask, but I saw a picture with the corner ripped off. It looked like a person was missing from the picture. Would you mind telling me about them? It's alright if you don't want to."

Inari shoved his chair away and ran up the stairs. Tsunami sighed, and Tazuna grumbled slightly.

Tsunami spoke first, "It's quite alright. You see a few years ago this man came into town, by the name of Kaiza. He was a well-spoken and brave man. He had taught us the meaning of hope and courage. He was a man of the community and was well respected. I fell in love with him and he became a father figure for Inari. Unfortunately, when Gato came Kaiza was the only one to have opposed him. So Gato publicly executed Kaiza, Inari was present when it happened." Tsunami finished with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry for your loss if it's any consolation, all four of us can relate to your loss one way or another," I spoke.

Tsunami looked grateful. After dinner, we all went to sleep.
