Fred guided the Mystery Machine into the parking lot. He then found a parking place for Mystery's Inc.'s official vehicle, which was located underneath what looked to be a large Maple tree, which surprised the gang a little, the reason being that they had no idea their parking spot was going to be so picturesque, however the four mystery solving teenagers, their Great Dane and the pink beagle didn't seem to mind as they greatly enjoyed nature and Washington seemed to offer plenty of that.

Once the Mystery Machine was parked, everyone exited the vehicle and after that Fred locked the doors, making sure no one would steal the Mystery Machine from the parking lot; after pocketing the keys to the van, the six members of Mystery Inc. walked from the parking lot, then around a corner and then up to the main entrance of the Halloween Festival.

However, Courage was standing on the walkway, frozen like a block of ice. He couldn't help but be terrified and trembled with nervousness. Scooby saw the uncomfortable grimace on the pink dog's face and immediately walked back to him. He absolutely hated to see him like this. Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Velma looked back at them, confused.

"What's wrong, Courage?" he asked him, worry and concern in his voice.

"I wanna go home," Courage moaned in a fearful tone.

"Why? We just got here," Scooby replied.

"I don't like this, Scooby," Courage said, "I know I promised you I would be a part of this thing, but I don't like it at all. I just wanna go home."

"You don't even know what's in there, yet."

"It might be scary in there. I don't wanna take any chances."

"How do you know you don't like it if you've never tried it?"

Courage whimpered and didn't say a thing.

"Look, Courage. If you give this a chance, You'll have lots of fun. If you still want to go home, I'll make Fred start the Mystery Machine. Does that sound good to you?"

"Oh, I don't know..." Courage murmured, unsure.

"I promise," Scooby said, "I won't let anything bad happen to you." He drew an 'X' over his chest. "Cross my heart."

Courage sighed and reluctantly said, "Okay."

"Great," he replied, smiling and patted him on the head for praise. He lower his head and nudged Courage up to his back.

Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage began exploring the of the event; all over the carnival grounds there were hundreds upon hundreds of rides, game booths as well as every kind of food concession that you could imagine, which made Shaggy and Scooby quite happy.

As the afternoon wore on and changed into the early evening, the sun began dipping lower behind the series of clouds in the sky above the Washington Halloween Festival grounds; the members of Mystery Inc. gazed up at the sky as they walked along, marveling at the beautiful orange, pink and just a dash of red colors that were so prevalent among the landscape this time of the day.

Courage whined and hunkered down, he hated when they're out at night. Scooby glanced over his shoulder gave him a look that said, "It's going to be okay."

Later on in the evening after the "Chewsome Twosome" as Velma somewhat jokingly, but mostly lovingly dubbed them had a few snacks, they rejoined Fred, Courage and the girls as the six of them continued to walk around the rest of the carnival, eventually Scooby and Shaggy found themselves at a bobbing for apples booth, which made the cowardly pair quite happy.

Shaggy bobbed for the apples before he was shown to have three apples in his mouth before he but into them, ate them, and swallowed them before laughing.

"Scooby-Dooby-Doo!" Scooby howled before he then splash into the barrel. While splashing Shaggy, Courage, Daphne, and Velma in the process.

"Scooby!" Velma and Daphne groaned.

Scooby then popped up and laughed before he then ate the some of the apples in his mouth as Shaggy gave a sour look before he then grew slightly surprised and then gave a nice smile. Courage giggled at Scooby antics.

"Your turn, Courage." Scooby spoke.

Courage gulped nervously.

"Courage, what's wrong?" Scooby asked with concern.

"It's just that, um..." Courage stuttered, "What happens if, when my head is deep down in the water, some kind of scary monster appears? How would I even hear to know I was under attack?"

"That's fine, Courage," said Scooby in an understanding tone. "You don't have to do anything you don't want to."

"We're just glad you're here little pink dude," said Shaggy.

"Yeah, Courage," said Daphne, "We wanna make sure you have fun tonight."

"Okay, come on gang, let's continue looking around the carnival, and while we're at it Shag and Scoob can look for something to eat" Fred explained.

"Groovy Fred" Shaggy replied.

So with that Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, Scooby Doo and Courage continued looking around the Halloween Festival.

At the moment the team of sleuths were browsing through some more of the festival's food concessions, which Shaggy and Scooby Doo were happy about despite their obvious cowardice; the cowardly Great Dane and his teenaged master were enjoying some cotton candy and caramel apples.

Even Courage later join them and decided to eat a little, while the rest of Mystery Inc. were standing by, waiting for them to finish their snacks.

"Like you know you guys, even though this holiday is supposed to be the day where ghosts, monsters and all sorts of other creatures are seen by mortal eyes, it's sure nice to know that you and I can get a ton of great food while being scared out of your wits" Shaggy remarked.

"Yeah Raggy, I love Halloween Snacks" Scooby replied.

Courage licked the cotton candy and got some of his face, he give out a sheepish laugh.

"Come on gang let's keep walking around the carnival" Fred replied.

"Like works for us, come on guys" Shaggy added.

"Coming Raggy" Scooby replied.

Courage jumped off the seat with cotton candy in his paw.

With that the two dogs followed closely behind the rest of the gang as they, Shaggy, Velma, Fred and Daphne resumed their walk through the grounds of the Washington Halloween festival they had been walking for about five minutes when they found something that they knew they would all enjoy, specifically one of the large cardboard and plaster cutouts that you would typically find at a festival.

To be even more specific, this cutout featured pictures of various Halloween monsters, in this case, a male and female werewolf, a vampire, a witch, a dragon, and what looked to be an anthropomorphic cat, almost similar in appearance to a cat creature or something of that ilk, above the pictures of the six monsters, there were areas for a person to put their head through which would make it seem like the gang were on the bodies of the six creatures.

This made Courage very nervous and he hid behind Scooby.

Scooby glance to his shoulder to look at the frightened pink beagle. "It's okay."

"Hey, like now there's something I might want to do" Shaggy remarked, spotting the large cutout tableau.

"You know Shaggy that actually sounds like a good idea" Velma replied.

"Yeah, come on Daphne, wouldn't you like to be a witch?" Fred asked.

"Just as long as I don't have those dumb warts and a long nose, I hate those things" Daphne replied.

"Well, why don't we get over to that cut out and have some Halloween fun, right gang?" the blond teenager continued.

"Right!" the rest of the group replied in unison.

"Uh can I stay out here?" Courage asked, he didn't want to try it out.

"I'll stay with you." Scooby offered.

"Are you sure Scoob?" Shaggy asked.

"Yeah, you guys go. I'm watching over Courage." Scooby assured.

"Okay Scoob." Shaggy remarked as he walked over to the cutout and stood behind the picture of the male werewolf.

"This is going to be fun isn't it Freddie?" Daphne asked, walking behind the area of the cutout where there was a picture of a stereotypical witch.

"Yeah, I always wanted to be a vampire" Fred replied, walking behind the area of the cutout, which displayed a picture of a vampire.

"You guys look absolutely ridiculous" Scooby commented as he watched his friends put their heads through the cutouts in the tableau while chuckling a bit.

"Like yeah, we do look a bit silly don't we Scoob?" Shaggy asked.

"Actually this is kind of cool, I always wanted to let out my wild side" Velma chuckled before letting out a small howl.

"Jeepers, that was pretty good, you really sound like a werewolf and I sound like a real witch, I'll get you my pretty and your little dog too" Daphne remarked, speaking a voice that sounded a lot like a witch, before she cackled a little as well.

"Daphne, you really do sound like a witch, and I sound and look like a vampire as well, now I'm going to suck your blood" Fred added, sounding like a bad version of Count Dracula.

Scooby turned to the pink dog, "what you think Courage?"

Courage, remaining silent, and timidly clung to Scooby.

Scooby frowned, and turned to the gang he shook his head.

Shaggy felt bad for Courage, even though he and Scooby were both cowards, Courage has it way worse then the two (Of course there was a couple of times were the gang almost died, but still.) Then he had an idea. "Well, there's still one Halloween hoax we do believe in."

Scooby licked his lips knowing what this means.

While Courage titled his head in confusion. "What's that?"
