After heading back to the Mystery Machine and changing into their costumes, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage. headed out to start their trick or treating, with Shaggy as a cowboy, Scooby as Dynomutt and Courage as the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of oz.
Daphne squealed when Courage came out with his costume on. "Oh my goodness Courage! You look so adorable!"
Courage gave a shy smile and blushed, as Daphne took a selfie of Courage in his costume.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage started to head out to the neighborhood.
"You three have fun!" Velma called out.
"Don't be out to late!" Fred called out.
"Keep an eye on Courage!" Daphne called out.
The three friends then headed out to the neighborhood and went to the porch of the first house.
"Now Courage, it's very easy, just stay back and watch how we do it." Scooby instructed, as he ring to doorbell.
"Like you ring the bell, and free candy!" Shaggy added, happily.
"Trick or treat!" Shaggy and Scooby spoke together at the first house.
"Smell my feet." Scooby began.
"And give us something groovy to eat." Shaggy finished.
"Well aren't we scary." The woman said, as she had a bowl of candy in her hands. But the frowned at Scooby. "Wait a minute! You been here already!"
"What?!" Scooby asked flabbergasted, "no I haven't!"
"Oh yes you have!"
"But I-"
"Shame on you!" The woman hissed, as she slammed the door.
Courage cringed at the yelling.
Shaggy turned to his dog, "like, you went out already?"
"No!" Scooby insisted, "she's crazy!"
In another part of the neighborhood Dynomutt has A Scooby-Doo costume on and is whistling as he walked along for trick or treating.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage walked along the sidewalk to the next house.
"Uhh, it usually goes better than that." Scooby said to Courage embarrassed that he had to see that.
Over the span of several hours Shaggy, Scooby and Courage visited numerous houses that surrounded the festival grounds, over time Courage was actually having fun of trick or treating, that he forgot that it was still Halloween.
Then, at the end of the hour, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage opened the bag and poured so much candy in it, it was practically turning into a tub of sorts with Shaggy, Scooby in their own candy bags.
"Hey, guys. Like, check it out. The world's first candy hot tub.", Shaggy laughed.
"Yeah." Scooby agreed before he laughed as he lifted up some of the treats, he then turned to Courage "what you think of trick or treating Courage?"
"Well I have to admit," Courage confessed, "it was actually kind of fun."
"See little pink dude, we told you will like it." Shaggy remarked.
Courage gave a shy grin, "is it possible we can go to one more house?"
Scooby and Shaggy looked at each other and nodded.
"Yes!" Courage cheered.
"Scooby-Dooby-Doo!" Scooby howled, as he hopped from one leg to another in celebration.
Then the three friends went to look for the last house, they have found a house that has been deserted a long time ago, like no one has lived there for years. This made the trio very nervous.
"I don't like the looks of it, or my name is Winifred Sanderson. And it's not." Courage commented.
"Like you said it little pink dude." Shaggy agreed, "that house looks creepy."
"Very creepy." Scooby added.
Courage looked at house again, even though they just got here, something tells him that they should leave right now. "guys, can go back to the festival? I don't wanna trick or treat anymore."
"Like you don't have to tells us twice little pink guy." Shaggy agreed, this place was giving him the willies.
"Yeah, let's go." Scooby agreed, he also has the same bad feeling Courage has.
The cowardly trio begin their journey back to the festival, but just when their steps away from the old house Courage heard a familiar sweet voice.
"Courage!"
Courage's ears perked up. It was faint over the blowing wind, but he had heard his name being called.
"Courage!"
Courage looked back at the house, and to his shock he saw Muriel, standing in the doorway of the house.
"Courage, come to me dear." She called.
How was this possible? Muriel died seven months ago, along with Eustace! Courage rubbed his eyes, to make sure he wasn't seeing things. But there was no mistaking it, Muriel was there.
"Courage!" Muriel called out once more.
Courage felt himself drift away, as his mind went numb. He wanted to be with Muriel. He wanted to be in her living arms. He wanted her to tell him everything is going to be okay. He started walking back to the house.
Scooby and Shaggy turned around and saw Courage slowly walking back to the house.
"Like little pink dude, where are you going?" Shaggy asked.
"Courage?" Scooby asked, now letting a little worried.
Courage didn't seem to hear them, as he kept walking closer to the house.
"Like what are you doing!?" Shaggy called out.
"Courage, come back!" Scooby shouted.
Again Courage didn't hear them, as he was now in the porch.
Shaggy groaned, "come Scoob, we have to get him!"
Scooby whimpered a little, afraid to be near that house, but also worried about his honorary little brother, this wasn't like him to go into creepy houses willingly. Something was wrong.
Scooby and Shaggy called to Courage to try to get his attention, but he was still in a trance, as he went through the door and in to the house. Scooby and Shaggy stopped, as they looked at the creaky old house in fear. They glance at each other and gulped, but they knew they have to get their friend back, they took a deep and together they went into the house.
When they got inside, it was dark and cold, much colder in here than it was outside, they saw Courage, just standing in the middle of the room.
"Muriel," Courage mumbled.
"Courage?" Scooby asked, as he got closer to the pink beagle.
When suddenly the door slammed hard.
"Huh?" Courage said, as he blinked and snapped out of his trance. "Where am I?" He turned and saw his friends. "Scooby? Shaggy?"
Scooby and Shaggy, who heard the door shut, in a panic tried to opened the door but it was sealed tight.
"It-it won't open!" Shaggy said in worry, as he started to bang on the door.
"It's stuck!" Scooby added in panicked.
Courage was horror-stricken, he didn't remember what happened, one minute he was seeing Muriel, the next minute, they're stuck in this creepy place, was this all because he wanted to see Muriel again? He felt guilty and shamed. What Have I done?
