Morrigan walked down the hall of the Deucalion back to her room thinking over what had happened in the Parlor. "Do I love Jack?" she thought to herself feeling utterly hopeless, "how would I even know?" she thought as she turned the handle of her bedroom door.
As soon as Morrigan opened the door she noticed Jupiter sitting on her bed with a tray of tea and cakes. Jupiter patted the bed next to him motioning for Morrigan to come and sit beside him. "Morrigan, come and have some tea and cakes." he said as Morrigan walked across her room to sit next to him.
As Morrigan stat down she grabbed a little tea party sandwich and began to nibble on it, "Thanks," she mumbled around her sandwich.
"No problem," said Jupiter sounding rather upbeat as always, "I was going to ask you how your apprenticeship is going, but I feel like there's something else. It's all around you. Love trouble."
"That's the second time today." Morrigan said grumpily grabbing a small cookie off the tray.
"What?" said Jupiter, confused by Morrigan's statement.
"Okay. It's 'love trouble' but you wouldn't understand." said Morrigan finishing up her cookie.
"Try me." said Jupiter raising an eyebrow.
Morrigan rolled her eyes. Things couldn't get much worse, plus Jupiter may actually hold some good advice deep in his brain. "Okay. It's with Jack. Last night he got drunk and kissed me. I just thought he was drunk, but then this morning he also saw the 'love trouble', so I told him what happened. Then he confessed that he likes me and now he wants to know if I like him back." Morrigan finished. After wards it felt like a weight had been lifted off her. It felt good to get that off her chest.
"And do you?" Jupiter asked cracking a smile as he looked at Morrigan.
"I don't know," Morrigan said, "but he's waiting in the Smoking Parlor for my answer."
"Let me ask you this," Jupiter said running his hands through his thick gingery beard, "do you miss Jack when he's at school?"
"Well…ya…bu-." that was a no brainer, Morrigan did miss Jack, but it was only as a friend, right?
"How about when he was dating that girl last year," Jupiter interrupted, "did you feel, I don't know, maybe a little…jealous," Jupiter finished, his smile growing even bigger.
"No!" Morrigan shouted feeling a little offended that he would suggest such a thing. Then through a single eyebrow raise from Jupiter Morrigan changed her answer. "Fine. Maybe a little," but she added hastily after, "but that was only because I had a bad feeling about her."
"Mog," Jupiter said looking her in the eyes, "having a bad feeling about someone causes suspicion, not jealousy." Morrigan froze eyes widening as realization hit her, "Yup. I think you have your answer." Jupiter said with a chuckle. With that final statement Jupiter rose from the bed and left the room leaving the tray of tea and cakes behind.
"Oh," Morrigan said to herself, "oh."
