Chapter 2
Prince Ali had just arrived in Agrabah. He waved to the people who came to see him come through but he was concerned that a lot of the commoners looked ill and sick.
"Genie? These people look awful. I wish we could help them." Ali said sadly to Genie.
"Well we can't help everyone Al. But just do your best ok?" Genie replied as Abu screeched on Aladdin's shoulder.
Carpet cuddled up to Aladdin with a warm hug and Aladdin smiled playing with his tassel. He went outside his caravan to talk with his guards.
"Hey how much longer till we get there guys?" Ali asked.
"Around 30 minutes Your Highness." Guard 1 replied.
"I told you to drop the 'your highness' stuff. We're not in public or doing anything in front of anyone so just act normally already." Ali replied with a smirk.
"Alright fine but you better eat something when we get there." Guard 1 said back.
Ali leaned back as everyone could see the way he looked he needed to eat. Unfortunately, though no matter what they tried to make him do, he kept insisting that he couldn't eat. And while they all understood the reason why. They couldn't help but worry.
His ribs were showing more and he looked dull as well. He put up a brave front in front of everyone, but when he was with those that knew the truth, he showed his pain.
"Hey Prince Ali! Come play with us!"
Ali had turned towards the voices and realized he was on the final block before the palace. He felt good enough to play with these kids before they met with The Sultan and Princess.
"Stop the Caravan. I'm gonna go play with these kids for a little while." Ali said to the guards.
"But sir." Guard 2 started to say.
"It's fine. We're earlier than our schedule anyway." Ali said getting out of the caravan and making his way towards the kids. Genie and Abu following.
"Alright you kids. You think you could call The Great Prince Ali out and defeat him?!" Ali said with fake boastfulness.
"YEAH!" All 3 kids shouted at once towards him before trying to jump on him.
Ali, Genie and Abu played lots of games with them. They got their names and ended up playing with them for around an hour before they all got winded and sat down together.
"Where do you kids stay at?" Ali asked them. He didn't want them out in the street so late and wanted to give them a safe ride home.
"We don't have a home." Najima said. She was the oldest kid at 8 years old.
"What? Why not?" Ali said in shock. These kids didn't have anywhere to go. How would they survive? What would they eat?
"Our parents died a couple days ago." Bulu said sadly. "They were really sick and then they didn't wake up."
All the kids started tearing up and Ali could only clench his fists and grit his teeth. He glared at the palace. Didn't those in power care about these kids? These people who are struggling? He could only turn away from the palace and look at the kids again.
Genie had gone into his usual antics trying to cheer them up but Ali went and hugged all of them as tight as he could. His clothes got a little dirty but he didn't care. He had already decided what he was gonna do from the moment these kids told him they had nothing and no one. He would help them.
"Alright kids get in." Ali said to the kids as he opened the door to the caravan.
The guards could only do nothing but shake their heads with amused smiles. They had never thought their own prince would act like the furthest thing from it.
"But why Prince Ali? We're just good for nothing street rats. We don't belong with royalty like you." Jordan said sadly with tears in his eyes.
"That's not true. Anyone who has the powers to help others should help others. Otherwise, they're no better than scum." Ali replied.
The kids could nothing but cry happily that someone cared for them and was willing to look beyond their social status. Ali, Genie and Abu gave them hugs and held them tight before piling in the Caravan and getting ready to go.
"Thanks for helping us Prince Ali." All the kids said to Ali happily.
"No problem kids but don't call me Prince. Just Ali is fine." Ali said with a smile as the kids cuddled up to him.
"Say Al, you're gonna definitely gonna have your hands full the next few days." Genie said laughing at his friend.
"Yeah but I don't mind. For once I'm actually excited to meet someone who I think I could fall for." Ali replied.
"We've arrived your highness." Guard 1 said.
"How many times do I need to tell you Abdullah. Drop the 'Your Highness' stuff unless we're in public."
"Well you'll have to keep on telling me Your Highness." Abdullah replied with a smirk.
Ali could only mock glare at him before turning away smiling. Both his guards had been with him since childhood and they had grown close to trust each other. They had a much closer relationship than escorts and prince. So he trusted them with all the info.
"Well you 2 might as well start the 'Your Highness' stuff because we're here." Ali said as all his friends except the kids piled out.
"You all stay out here. I'm gonna explain the situation with these kids and see if I can get them some help."
"Ok Your Highness." Everyone said back to him.
Ali could only shake his head fondly at his stupid friends and make his way to the palace doors. He couldn't wait to meet Princess Jasmine. But he also needed to get these kids help.
He could only stare at the ground nervously as he knocked.
