Rumble in the jungle Chapter 10 At Home
The debrief lasted about two hours . Katherine was impressed with what acutally went on , half way through the debrief she received a telephone call from the C.I.A. office in Colombia ,they explained having examined the flash drive that Walter had made ,they were very pleased as it contained details of all the dealings of the cartel ,together with names and addresses of many of their dealers and distributors . It also showed the various routes and methods of distrabution of the drugs .There were also copies of the E-Mails between the Cartel and Agent Ricker ,from them it appeared he was the only agent involved . Katherine thanked the Agent and went on to explain what she had been told by the Agent on the telephone ,to the team who were assembled in her office .
Once the meeting was over ,Cabe offered to take Walter back to his house , but Walter asked if he would take him to Paiges condo . With a smile on his face he agreed immediatly ,Cabe dropped off Walter and drove away. Walter was a little apprehensive as he approached the front door of Paiges condo . It had only been four hours since he left Paige at the airport ,he felt as if the plane ride had been a dream ,and maybe the happiness was false and that in reaality Paige was still mad at him . With some trepidation he knocked the the door , before he even had time to step back from the door ,it was flung open and Ralph jumped into his arms ,almost knocking him over . "Walter i have missed you so much ." Said Ralph holding him a strong hug and tears running down his cheeks . "I have missed you to buddy but do you think we could go inside were it is a bit more private ." Asked Walter , Ralph let go and stepped to one side so Walter could enter the condo,he was again hugged and kissed all over his face ,but this time it was Paige doing the hugging . Ralph followed Walter and shut the door and managed to squeeze past the hugging pair who saw no one but each other . After what seemed like a life time to Walter they finally seperated and Paige led Walter into the living area . "Would you like some coffee and somthing to eat ?" Paige asked Walter . "Only if you are having some . " Replied Walter . "Come into the kitchen and sit at the island so we can talk ." Answered Paige .They both moved to the kitchen ,leaving Ralph to play on one of his games . "I was almost afraid to come back ,i could not believe what happened on the plane could have actually happened . So i need to ask you again if you will marry me ." Asked Walter as he bought out of his pocket a plastic ring and motioned to Paiges left hand and held her ring finger ." Of course i will marry you Walter ,i have not changed my mind ." She said softly . " This is the best ring i could get a short notice , but would like you to take it . Tomorrow i would like to take you to a jewellers and by a ring that is more appropriate . "Oh Walter a ring is not importent ,the fact you have asked me is more than enough ."
They both stayed in the kitchen drinking coffee and eating snacks for about a hour before Paige got out of her seat and walked over to Ralph . "It's time for bed , school tomorrow ." She said to Ralph who with a big sigh switched off his games machine and made his way to his bedroom . Paige made her way back into the kitchen ,were Walter was washing the items they had used . "Leave that Walter and i will finish them . Go and say goodnight to Ralph ." Walter kissed her on the cheek as he wiped his hands on the hand towel . "O.K. i will not be long ." Walter returned after about ten minutes ."He is fine he said he was going straight to sleep .""Good it as been so long since we have had any adult entertainment between us ." said Paige with a large smile on her face and grabbing Walter's hand and pulling him towards the bedroom .
Next morning Paige woke up feeling better than she had over the eight weeks since the break up . She turned on her back and reached over to her side hoping her arm would fall across Walter's bare chest , but all she felt was cold linen she sat up abrutly looked around the bedroom and saw no one there . Immediatly she began to think she had only dreamed about the last thirtysix hours and tears began to form in her eyes . Out the corner of her eye she spotted a plastic ring on her bedside cabinet and she felt the soreness between her legs and aches were she she had not ached in over eight weeks . Well Walter must have been here last night , she thought as she grabbed her pink dressing gown and pulled it tight around her body and stepped out into the hall . She checked the bathroom ,the kitchen and living room but could not find any sign of Walter anywhere . Immediatly her abandonment issues began to build up in her mind ,before long tears were streaming down her face . She made her way back to the bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed . The thought that Walter had done this to be able for him to leave her the way she had left , but Walter could not be that vindictive , COULD HE ? The longer she sat there the more she was convinced Walter had done it as a perfect revenge . Just then she heard the front door open and then shut . Within seconds she wiped her face clear of the tears , and was rushing for the bedroom door which she flung open and raced down the hallway ,towards the sitting room were she was confronted by Walter and Ralph both holding brown paper bags and coffee. "Walter were have you been i thought you had walked out on me in revenge for what i did to you ." Said a paniced Paige . "Why would i walk out on you in revenge ,you had every right to leave me i lied to you even if by ommission ." "You were missing when i woke up and i just paniced ,i am so sorry Walter ." Walter took a few seconds to absorb what Paige had just said and then replied . "Ralph was up early and i was already up and ready , we wanted to treat you ,so we went to get you your favorite bagels for breakfast ." "OH ." Said Paige looking anywere but at Walter . "Don't worry lets sit down and eat breakfast and then once you are fed and ready we will sit down and talk about it ." Said Walter. leading Paige over to the kitchen island followed closely by Ralph ,who looked at his mother with compassion . Once breakfast was finished Walter borrowed Paiges car and took Ralph to school to give Paige a chance to shower and get dressed . Walter was back within the hour Paige was sitting on the sofa waiting for him . Walter took a seat next to her and took both of her hands in his and spoke softly to her . "Your abanderment issues are going to keep reappearing if you do not get somthing done about them . I would suggest that maybe best if we both of us could see if Doctor Rizzo would see us together about this problem of yours . If we can get advice from him i can help you at home outside of his office ." "Would you do that for me Walter ? Paige asked in an equally soft voice . "Of course you are the love of my life and would do anything for you and of course including Ralph . " Stated Walter . "O.K. i will ring him and see if he can fit us in ,by the way when were you thinking of going to Ireland so i can arrange appointments around that ." Answered Paige . Walter just sat there looking at the floor , after a few seconds he looked up and turned his head so that he could look straight into Paiges eyes . "Paige i have promised to be truthful to you so i have to tell you something . Before you came back into my life i had decided that the Colombia job was going to be my last for Homeland and move back to Ireland permantly .As everything i had in America was gone ,except for Cabe and Allie . Now that we have come back together i really need to rethink what to do ." "Does that mean you don't want to go to Ireland to re introduce me to your parents as your fiancee now ?" "Not at all but what i do need to decide if it would be benifical to restart Scorpion ,i know i could not possibly go through the last eight weeks again if it were to fail again ." Replied Walter . Paige looked at him with tears forming in her eyes ,in a breaking voice she said . "I will never leave you again you are the true love of my life ,and i have seen the damage i have done to Ralph ,i just hope that it will not be permanent ." Walter pulled her closer to him and gently kissed her lips . "I know you would not leave unless of course i do something really stupid again . But i do not intend to do that .Open communications on everything from now on . It is not you it's the others , Silvester blamed me for something i knew nothing about and for the first since i have known him he turned violent against me , Happy and Toby had no real argument against me but they still walked ." Paige nodding replied ."Well you are stuck with me and Ralph the others you will have to talk to them yourself and make your own mind up ."
"Well i think i want to go back to Ireland ,to reconnect with my parents and introduce you to my parents as my fiancee and Ralph as my son . So once i can get a new passport , since my old one was in the garage when it burned down . While there i can consider all the facts and make up my mind in the relative calm and peace of Ireland . Now i would like to suggest we take a trip to a jewellers and choose a suitable ring for hopefully my soon to be bride to wear for a while . But first do you think it would be possible to go and see how Sly is doing ?" Explained Walter ."Well that sounds like a good plan ,I'll get my bag ." Said Paige . "OH one question ,before we go do you still have your Scorpion charge card in your purse ." Paige looked a little surprise and took a moment before she answered . "Yes i could not throw it away ,but you obviousley cancelled it . You did cancel it ?" "No it would have felt as if i had cut every tie with you and i needed to know i still had some sort of connection to you ." Paige was by this time openly crying . "Walter i can only apologise again for everything i put you though ." "There is no need i know how much you love me and that is all i need . That is apart from the Company charge card as mine was destroyed along with the garage ." Smiling now Paige reached into her purse pulled the card out and gave it to Walter , he gently took it from her hand then pulled her towards him and kissed her . "We should go now ." Said Walter as he got up from the sofa gently pulling Paige up with him .
They arrived at Ceders about fortyfive minutes later ,they approached reception desk and asked about Sylvester ,the lady behind the desk checked on the computer . "Yes Mr. Dodd is awake but still a little disorientated , he his down to receive visitors ,could you please sign the visitors book ." Paige and Walter both signed the book and made their way to his room . Walter was a little apprehensive about seeing Sylvester , but Paige squeezed his hand gently and he felt reassured . "Hello Sylvester ." Said Paige . "Oh hello Paige. WALTER!" Sly spoke with total surprise as he saw Walter standing next to Paige in the doorway "What are you doing here ? I never expected to see you ." "Sly i wanted to apologise for the way i spoke to you that night ,but i cannot and will not for what Florence said because i knew nothing about her having feelings for me ." Sly stayed silent for a few minutes then began to speak again . "I know i was a fool that night i realize now she did not know how i felt about her , because of my inhibitions i could not bring myself to tell her ."
"There is something i need to tell you Sly but you must be strong ,it's sad news , Florence was killed when the garage collapsed during the earthquake ." Paige said saddly ,while going closer to Sly's bed so that she could give him a hug . "I had a feeling something was wrong as no one as been to see me for at least four days ." Sly by this time was talking in a sad voice to match the tears rolling down his cheeks . "No we have been in Colombia rescureing Walter ." Explained Paige . The next hour was spent telling Sly all that had happened ,including Walter proposing to Paige and her accepting .Sly had wished them good luck and best wishes .
Paige and Walter left Sly after about a hour to allow him to get some rest . They made their way to the car ,Walter turned to speak to Paige ." Would you like to get some lunch before we go and find a jewellers ?"
"To be honest Walter do you mind if we don't go ring buying today ,not that i am not keen to put a ring on my finger . However if we are going to Ireland , i would really like to choose an Irish engagment ring then i could always part of your heritage close to me at all times . We could have American weddig bands then you could have some of my heritage next to you ." Explained Paige . "Well that sounds like a brilliant idea ,if that is what you want that is what we will do . Shall we go for lunch now ?"
During lunch they discussed what they needed to do before going to Ireland . Walter need a new Passport and he also needed to go to his bank to sort out new cards for both the company and private accounts . Once lunch was finished they decided as the bank was close they would go there and sort out Walter's finances they phoned ahead and got an appointment with the Manager in thirty minutes time . After about a hour most of the problems had been sorted , and the Manager promised new cards and other items required would be sent to Paiges condo.
As they left the bank ,Paige had a thought . "Walter have you contacted the insurance broker about the garage ?"
"I had not even thought about it to be honest i tended to leave all that to you , so I'm not sure were to even find them ." Replied Walter
" Well it's time to pick up Ralph ,so lets make our way to the school . Maybe we could take him for ice cream then when we get back to the condo i can begin to sort your insurance out ." Suggested Paige .
" Good plan ,i think i could enjoy an ice cream myself . replied Walter . Picking up Ralph from school together really pleased Ralph and going for ice cream was the icing on the cake .
"Ralph next week you break up from school ." asked Paige "Yes we have three weeks off ." Answered Ralph .
Paige looked at Walter and with a glint in her eye . "Three weeks in Ireland from next week , would that be acceptable ?" "More than ,providing Katherine comes through with my passport replacement ." replied Walter .
The rest of the week was taken up sorting out the problems caused by the earthquake . Katherine came through with the passport , the bank provided all the replacement cards Walter had requested . Paige managed to sort out the insurance for the garage ,however due to the amount of claims being made because of the eathquake she was told payment would be delayed ,but full payment of the insured amount had been granted . Flights were arranged for the following Sunday. Paige had helped Walter to purchase a complete new wardrobe for the trip ,while also purchaseing items for herself and Ralph .
On the Saturday evening Walter, Paige and Ralph all went to Paiges favourite restuant for a holiday meal .Sunday morning they left the condo at 4 a.m. to catch a 6a.m. flight to Cork airport .
