Note: Rory's purely human here :D

The elevator doors opened to the penthouse with Lucifer still on the phone with Chloe, planning another visit to Dan in Hell.

He heads for the bar as he bids her good night and pours a generous amount of whiskey, which he downs in one go. Truthfully, he's exhausted and emotionally drained after that Jimmy Barnes fiasco, and the fact that he couldn't help him more at the moment is a little disappointing and upsetting.

He does not notice at all the uninvited guest lounging on his Italian couch despite being in his line of sight the entire time. That's how distracted he is.

The guest clears their throat, and Lucifer finally looks up.

"Who are you and what are you doing in my penthouse?"

"HI, I'm Rory. I'm your daughter."

Lucifer exhales, "Darling, that's literally impossible."

"Well, can you at least look me in the eye and tell me I'm not your daughter? I've been told that there's this gut feeling when a biological parent meets their biological child. That's all I ask. I don't need your money or anything, my mother made sure I had everything I needed. Please."

"I suppose there's no harm in it. Very well, I will humor you, Rory."

Lucifer sighs, bend down, looks straight into her eyes, and feels the feeling she described earlier. He couldn't explain it, but there's this undeniable connection. But how is this even possible? He clearly remembers every woman he's ever been with, and he knows all of them are mere flings; therefore, he couldn't have self-actualized to be able to procreate.

Right?

Now he's completely and utterly confused.

"I'm sorry but it's not possible."

Rory's mouth forms into a thin line but gathers herself at the last minute. Her mother warned her this would happen; however, she wanted to see for herself.

"Thank you for trying. You did as I asked so," She huffs, clearly struggling to keep her tears from falling at the rejection. She expected it, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. "I'm sorry for bothering you."

Rory walks off and jabs the elevator button while Lucifer stands there frozen, unsure of what to do or what to make of that intense urge to go after the young lady.

But he doesn't move, but he sees just enough of how heartbroken Rory is as she stubbornly wipes the tears off her face as the door finally closes.

Rory climbs into the driver's seat as she reaches her car. He doesn't have to know that her mother recently passed on, and Lucifer is all she has now. Being an only child of an only child really sucks big time, but it is what it is.

She sighs as she presses the button, and the engine turns over. She will be alright, eventually. With that resolve, she taps at her car's navigation system and keys in her destination and then drives off.

Lucifer couldn't get any sleep that night, so he asked Maze to track down the women with daughters from his Y2K stint.

He couldn't be her father. But what if he is?

"So what is it that you wanted to talk about?" Chloe asks.

"There's this young woman who broke into my penthouse last night, claiming to be the Devil's spawn to boot,"

"You have a daughter?"

"I —"

"But angels can't procreate,"

"Exactly."

"Except for Amenadiel because —"

"Yes, yes,"

"So this woman is — "

"Deeply confused."

Chloe's brows knit together at how Lucifer completed what she was going to say. Although, a possible daughter? It does seem improbable, but if he subconsciously wanted a child, then…

The former Detective will at least admit to herself that she's a little jealous. If anything, she'd want to be the mother of his child if that's what he wanted. But, enough overthinking.

He wanted you here, Chloe. He's asking for your help, so help him.

"What do you need?"

"I had Maze track down the women I've slept with during Y2K. I need you to come with me to meet them. It's totally fine if you don't want to, but I wanted you to know what I'm about to do."

"Of course I'll come with you. Partners, right?"

"Partners,"

Lucifer made the women show the pictures of their daughter, and three out of four didn't look like the one who visited his penthouse.

The last one on their list, Ester Mason, is supposedly in Queens, New York. They went to the address, but the person who answered the door didn't look familiar to the club owner at all.

"Excuse me, I'm looking for Ester Mason?"

"Oh, I'm Jason Mercer, the new owner of this apartment. Ms. Mason passed away recently and her daughter sold me the property."

Lucifer's shock at this new information is evident, but even so, he needs to know.

"Do you know what her daughter looks like? Or her name at least?" Chloe asks, sensing Lucifer's distress.

"Yes, but who's asking?"

"Um, we're from the LAPD. We just need to talk to her."

"Oh my goodness, is she in trouble?"

"No, no. We just need to talk to her about her mom. She's an acquaintance of my partner, so uh, what can you tell us about her? Her name or what she looks like?"

"Uhh, if you could show me your badge, for verification? I mean, don't get me wrong. You guys look decent but so do some bad people."

"We don't have time for this," Lucifer finally finds his voice and stares into Jason's eyes, then asks, "Tell me, what is it you desire?"

"I—I want to be a recording artist."

The devil rolls his eyes, "Fine, I'll introduce you to a record producer if you tell us what you know about her."

Jason couldn't tear his gaze away from Lucifer that he had to give in.

"Her name is Aurora, short black hair with pink streaks — about 5 foot 3 inches maybe — you know what? You remind me of her. Are you her dad?"

Lucifer opens his mouth and closes it, but Chloe catches on and asks,

"Do you know where we can find her?"

"No, but she did say she's going to London to stay in one of Ms. Mason's properties, for good. We're not really friends you know, but she wanted to talk to someone so I lent an ear — " Jason pauses just as Lucifer raises a brow, "Oh no! She's not interested in men and I'm not interested in women either so there's that."

"Ahh,"

"When was this?" The former Detective follows up.

"Yesterday."

"Thank you, Mr. Mercer."

The silence is deafening on the car ride back to the penthouse. Lucifer, who usually wouldn't stop talking about anything, is suddenly rendered speechless. So much so that Chloe had to take a quick glance just to see if he was still breathing because it looked like he was holding his breath the entire time.

She knew he was in no condition to fly them back, so she called in some of his favors, thus the shiny SUV (not to mention the private plane to get back to Los Angeles).

It's dark when they finally make it to Lux's parking lot, and Lucifer still hasn't said a word.

"Talk to me, Lucifer." Chloe urges him as she sets the car to park.

"I should have let her stay. I felt it in my gut, a connection I can't seem to explain, but it's there. I think she's really my daughter, and I —"

"Stop right there. You didn't know. What matters is what you do after. We'll find her and figure out things as we go, okay?"

"I may not be sure of a lot of things, but I've never loved anyone as much I love you, Chloe Decker."

Chloe pulled some strings and was able to get in touch with an old friend of hers who moved to London. They got an address, and much as she wanted to accompany Lucifer on the trip, they both decided that he needed to do this on his own. But Chloe assured him that if he needed her, she would ask Amenadiel to take her there.

Lucifer arranges his cufflinks nervously before ringing the doorbell.

Rory opens the door and is genuinely surprised to find him standing there, dressed to the nines.

"W-what are you doing here? And how did you know this address?"

"I called him some favors, and I'm here to apologize, and to tell you that I believe you. I'm sorry our first meeting didn't go well but if you let me, I would like to rectify that. Will you give me another chance, Rory?"

It provided relief to Rory, hearing Lucifer say her name and acknowledge her for the first time.

"I would want nothing more."

She opens the door wider and lets him in.

Some months later, Rory moves back to Los Angeles and is invited to a family dinner to celebrate the birth of a half-sibling — a baby boy they named Zain — by her Dad's long-time partner, now wife, Chloe Decker.

Lucifer also figured out how Rory came to be; he subconsciously fulfilled her mother's desire to have a child. How he even managed to do that is beyond him.

Maybe it's part of the former God's plan; Lucifer doesn't really care anymore. All he cares about now is to learn how to deal with a newborn. He may not have been there for many of Rory's firsts, but he plans to make the most out of it and will make sure she is a part of his life.
