Chapter 6
The Rain Forest
Oleander was frustrated. Well more frustrated than she usually was on any given day. She had just been to visit this month's queen for the fifth time. Like usual, the Queen had ignored her, saying that she was paranoid, need more sleep, to eat fewer mangos, and wonder if she had eaten any hallucinogenic flowers recently. Oleander knew that she was not crazy or lacking sleep, and as she had told the queen many times, she hated mangos and never eat them, ever and she was not stupid enough to eat hallucinogenic flowers.
Now Oleander was swinging from tree to tree grumbling to herself about the unfairness of this whole situation.
Oleander was a weird Rainwing. She did not like to spend all her days sleeping and eat, although she did enjoy a good nap in the sun. Oleander likes exploring and trying to make the Rainwings a better tribe. Not that they noticed or cared. While exploring a month ago, she had seen three strange black dragons in the forest. She had followed them and found them hunting and killing the forest animals. Oleander had been so angry she had wanted to dive down and melt their faces off. But she had not, instead she followed them and discovered that they came in and out of clave with a wrong feeling emanating from it.
Soon after she discovered that Rainwings were going missing. She tried telling the Queen and the other Rainwings. Oleander even showed some of them the strange dragons, but they never cared.
So now Oleander was frustrated and stumped on what to try next to stop the strange dragons. In the end, Oleander had decided she should gather up her courage and explore the cave and see how that many dragons could fit in this cave.
Once she arrived at the cave mouth, she camouflaged herself to look invisible and creep towards the opening of the cave. The feeling of wrongness increased until she wanted to run away and hid under a rock for the rest of her life. But Oleander did not she could not, so she continued the creep into the cave mouth. It was dark and quiet. Olander crawled farther in and then suddenly in front of her was a fire which was surrounded by three of the strange black dragons. Oleander froze for a moment and then remembered that she was invisible. Walking a silent as possible around the dragons and down a short tunnel. When she reached the end, Oleander gasped. In front of her was an abrupt drop. Looking around she that she was inside some kind of large cave with a hole in the top. Inside the large cave were many smaller caves some of which the dragon dragons were coming in and out of. Spreading her wings and retaining her camouflage, Oleander soared over what looked like rivers of liquid fire.
Oleander was wondering what this place was and how it was in the Rain Forest, then she saw something horrible, two of the strange black dragons were flying out of one of the smaller caves with a grey dragon hang from chains in the larger dragons talons. It was a Rainwing! But in a color Oleander had never seen before, but she knew instinctively was pain and despair.
Angered beyond what she thought possible, Oleander made to follow the two black dragons when something hit her with incredible force. Slamming her into the wall.
Oleander gasped, winded by the force of the blow, twisting her neck she looked straight into the dark purple eyes of a black dragon, smaller than the ones she had seen so far but still a good bit bigger than her.
