Chapter 11
Cave in the Sky Kingdom
"Hi, Starflight," said Sunny in his mind. Why Sunny, a Sandwing, could read minds or why she was an animus Starflight did not know.
"Hello, Sunny," replied Starflight also in his mind.
Both Starflight and Sunny had the legendary Nightwing powers, although why Sunny had it no one knew and Sunny herself did not really care why. Sunny also had animus powers although she never used them in fear of losing her soul.
"Hey Sunny, Starflight," said Clay happily bounding into the study cave where Sunny and Starflight were.
"Hi, Clay," called Sunny with a smile.
"Hello Sunny, Starflight," said Tsunami following Clay.
"Why are you all happy?" said Glory padding into the room, "what are we studying today?"
"Fighting," said Kestrel entering the cave.
"But we already did have the training," whined Clay.
"No," said Kestrel, "you, and the Seawing have already trained, the defective Sandwing and the useless Nightwing haven't."
"Sunny isn't defective," Clay defended, "and neither is Starflight."
"The Sandwing has no tail barb," said Kestrel, "and the Nightwing has no powers."
Starflight and Sunny had decided not to tell their guardians that they had powers. Or rather Glory had whisper yelled at them had until they agreed with her. It was hard since they were yelled at constantly about how they were useless. Although Sunny did not mind much and Starflight was too timid to speak up.
"It's alright, Clay," said Sunny walking past him, "if we are going to fulfill the prophecy then we might need to protect ourselves."
"Kestrel," said Webs, "it is late, they will be fine if they miss one day of training. And we need to have gone on a hunting trip."
"Fine," said Kestrel as she strode out of the cave, "but if the worms get killed as soon as they get out into the world it is your fault, Webs."
"Go to bed," said Webs kindly to the dragonets.
"Good night, Webs," said Sunny with a smile
"Good Night, Sunny," said Webs following Kestrel back to the guardian's cave.
"That is a relief," said Starflight laying back down, "I was not looking forward to having to fight Kestrel at this time of night."
"No one looks forward to fighting Kestrel, Starflight," said Glory from the ledge she had been resting on.
"Ouch," said Sunny grabbing her head in pain.
"Sunny are you…" Starflight started to ask, but stopped and grabbed his head as well.
"Sunny! Starflight!" cried Clay, "are you okay?"
Both looked forward towards the cave wall with unfocused eyes.
"What are they doing?" whispered Tsunami to Clay
"Shh," hiss Glory
"From a prophecy fake and far
The Dragonets will come
The royal Seawing egg, such a beautiful blue
The rainbow egg of Rain Forest hue
The earth's egg of blood sold for food
Nightwings of with the power of few
A Sandwing the kindest of the group
Seven tribes will flee to find them
Seven friends will find and free them
The fake dragonets will become real.
And of three sisters who Blister, Blaze, and Burn
They shall die or shall learn to bow
To a fate that is stranger and stronger
The wearer of the Wings of Fire."
"What was that?" asked Glory staring at the two dragons.
"It sounded like a prophecy," said Clay puzzled.
"But there is already a prophecy," said Tsunami confused.
"What do you think it means by a 'prophecy fake and far'?" asked Sunny returning to herself and sitting down.
"I don't know," said Starflight worried, eyes becoming unfocused as he tried to peer into the complex threads of the different timelines that flew through his head.
"I like this one better," said Sunny hopefully, "it was Glory in it, and nobody has to die."
"Great," said Glory sarcastically, "I am so happy."
"Can we sleep on it?" asked Clay yawning
"That sounds good to me," said Glory yawning also and walking out of the study cave towards the sleeping caves.
"Do you think that the prophecy is fake, Starflight," said Sunny timidly, worried about what this could mean for their future.
"I don't know, Sunny," replied Starflight quietly still trying to figure out which future is most likely to happen, "but if the prophecy is fake, at least there is a better one now."
"I suppose so," said Sunny, taking Starflight's talon to bring him back to the present before leading him to the sleeping caves.
