It's a Girl? Chapter 23
The mystery woman will be revealed soon!
Loren waits for the tech to come into the room for her ultrasound, they wonder what they will have? A boy or Girl? Eddie places a step stool for Alex, this is the way he'll have the perfect view.
The Tech walks in. "What are you hoping for young man?"
Alex smiles, and responds with excitement. "It's a girl, her name is Isabella."
"Wow, you know it's a girl?" The Tech smiles.
"I do, when I lean on mommy's tummy, she tells me."
"Really? You can talk to her already huh?"
"Yes I can." He's proud!
She points to the screen. "Here's the profile of the baby, beautiful, we'll check the heart, can you see it beating?"
Alex eyes widen in excitement. "Yes, look daddy it's beating, her heart is telling me she's happy!"
Eddie and Loren look at each other with a huge smile.
The Tech looks at Loren and Eddie. "Do you want to know what you're having?"
Loren smiles, she looks at Eddie for reassurance, and Alex can't keep his eyes off of the screen. "Yes, I do."
"Let's see if this baby will let us see."
She guides it towards the lower part of the baby and smiles. "Ok guys, it's a girl."
Alex jumps off the step stool. "I knew it!"
Loren's shocked; Alex knew it from the start. "Omg Eddie, he knew."
"Hey buddy, I guess you're right, we're having a girl."
"I told you, she talks to me when I lean on mommy's tummy, you're going to name her Isabella right?"
"Of course sweetie, if that's the name you want, that's what we will call your baby sister." Loren says.
"Are you sure Babe?"
"Of course I am, look how excited he is, I can't disappoint him."
After the ultrasound, they're on their way back to the Escalade, and head home. Eddie hires a sweet lady to cook their meals, Loren can rest and concentrate on Alex and his lessons.
After lunch, Eddie tells Loren that Nora will be watching Alex that weekend.
"Why? Where are we going?"
"Mrs. Duran, it's our first wedding anniversary, have you forgotten?"
"I've been so busy, I did forget."
"It has been an amazing year." He pecks Loren on her lips.
"I need to get you a gift." Loren says.
Eddie smiles. "Don't worry babe, our daughter is my gift, I don't need anything else."
He leans in to kiss her, Loren wraps her arms around his neck and pulls away laughing. "What's so funny?" Eddie wonders.
"My baby bump has grown more, and I can't lean on you anymore." Loren laughs out loud.
Eddie caresses her baby bump. "She'll be here soon, I can't wait."
"I know; I'm excited to meet our daughter."
"I've asked Lolita to pack our things; we leave in the morning."
"Where are we headed? I can't go too far." Loren says.
"We're going to the bungalow; I want to stay in like we did for our honeymoon."
Loren laughs and points to her belly. "I'm doing the penguin walk; there isn't much we can do."
"We can try Mrs. Duran; I know you'll look hot in a bikini."
"Are you kidding?" Loren giggles.
"No, I know you'll look HOT in anything."
"I'm not going to promise anything, we can sit at the beach and relax."
The following day
They're at the bungalow by noon. Loren's wearing a cute summer top and shorts, they're sitting by the beach.
"Now that's a sexy walk." Eddie teases.
Loren laughs. "You're making fun at the way I walk."
She sits next to Eddie, they feel the warm breeze softly on them, the waves of the ocean crash against the shoreline is very relaxing. Eddie hands Loren a box, it's a tennis bracelet, surrounded by little diamonds, on the inside the word (Promise) are inscribed.
"This is beautiful."
"I promise to love you forever."
"Me too." They kiss.
The following day they go into town for a special dinner, they attend a play at the nearby theatre, by Sunday, they head back home to celebrate with Alex.
They stop at Nora's. "Hi mom."
"Omg, look at you." Nora says with a smile.
Loren places her mom's hand on her belly. "Can you feel her moving?"
"She's kicking, isn't it an amazing feeling?"
Alex approaches Loren. "Isabella misses me; I need to talk to her." He places his ear on Loren's tummy. "Isabella I'm here, I love you."
She kicks once more. "She was waiting for you." Loren adds.
"I talk to her all the time." He says proudly.
Nora's excited. "Are you serious, he talks to her?"
"I told you he said we were having a baby." Loren says.
"He's bonding with her." Nora adds.
"Yes he is, he calls her Isabella, talks to her, she kicks at the sound of his voice."
Nora hugs Loren. "You're blessed my daughter, with an amazing husband and a son, and a daughter of your own to love."
"I know, I'm grateful Cam walked away, I honestly had no idea what I would have done that day."
Nora holds Loren by her shoulders. "You have Melissa to thank for that."
"I do, why?"
"Honey, she went to talk to Cam, she took control of the situation, and told him what was happening, she was afraid of losing your friendship, it didn't matter to her, she wanted you to be happy."
"Really? Omg, I owe her my happiness."
"She didn't want you to know, but, I think you should know how much that girl loves you."
Loren looks around. "I love her too, where is she?"
"She's on a date, some guy she met at school a few weeks ago."
"I have to talk to her."
"Make time for your best friend, spend a day with her, just the two of you."
"It's a great idea, before Isabella gets here."
"What are my girls doing?" Eddie teases.
Nora smiles. "Your girls?"
"Loren and Isabella."
"I've heard; I love the name though."
Eddie smiles, he turns his attention towards Alex who's busy playing a game on the kitchen table. "His idea, he called it the moment he knew we were having baby."
"Loren says he talks to her and named her?"
"Isabella Duran, I love the sound of that." Eddie's proud.
Loren looks at him. "Mom was just telling me that Mel spoke to Cam."
"Really?"
"Yes, I'm going to plan a lunch date with her, surprise her with her favorite ice cream cake."
"Tell me when, and the house is all yours."
Loren kisses him, it seems to be Loren's favorite things to do.
Each week brings Loren closer to her due date, she's having a hard time moving around, Eddie loves watching his beautiful wife blossom in beauty as her pregnancy progresses. The baby moves more and more each day, making it harder for Loren to sleep.
Loren prepares a lunch date with her best friend, she made arrangements for Mel to stop by.
Eddie's going to take Alex to the zoo, Loren can be alone time alone with Mel. Lolita prepare enchiladas, Mel's favorite, along with rice, salad and a spicy salsa.
Mel feels very special. "Is all of this for me?"
"Yes, your favorite dishes made by Lolita, she's an authentic Mexican cook."
"Thank you Lo." Mel takes a chip to try the salsa. "Oh wow, this is very spicy, I don't think you should try it in your condition."
"Why not? It might speed Isabella's due date."
"I've heard there are other things you could do to start labor."
Loren looks at Mel. "Don't you start with that."
"There's nothing wrong with making love in your condition."
"Mel sit, and eat, and change the subject."
"When is Isabella due?"
"Dr. says another week." Loren pads her tummy. "I can't wait to meet her."
"I'm happy for you." Mel tells her.
She sits next to her best friend. "I heard what you did Mel, thank you so much."
Mel smiles. "Really? I thought you'd be mad at me, I had no choice, you looked so unhappy."
Loren holds her hands. "I owe you my happiness, I'm so grateful, this luncheon date is to show you how grateful I am."
"You're welcome; you would have done the same for me."
Loren smiles. "Of course, tell me all about this guy you're dating."
"His name is Sean, I liked him the moment we met, he's gorgeous."
"I'm happy for you." Lolita walks in. "Ms. Loren, there's a lady at the door."
Loren furrows her eyes." I didn't hear the door Lolita."
She can tell Lolita's nervous, her eyes shift back and forth, she won't look Loren in the eyes.
"Are you ok? Is she at the door?"
Mel notices, she gets up and walks towards Loren. "Isn't security supposed to let you know when someone comes to see you?"
"Yes, I don't know where they're at." Before Loren can take another step, she hears a voice she recognizes too well.
"It's ok Loren, it's only me."
Loren feels chills at the sound of her voice. "How did you get in here? What are you doing here?"
"Remain Calm Loren, you don't want the fate your security officer encountered, I want to say hello."
Mel walks towards her. "We need to call Eddie."
Lorie lets out a huge sarcastic laugh. "Let's sit and talk Loren!"
Lorie won't give up!
