Lorie vs Loren Chapter 24
Loren sits quietly at the table; she doesn't take her eyes off of Lorie. "Talk about what?"
"Congratulations! you won, you married my nephew, my son, you beat me at my own game, it's been hard to get close to you, but I figured it out."
"I wasn't playing any games Miss Lorie, I love Eddie, I always have, always will, I'm very happy, please leave, if he comes home and finds you here, he won't be happy."
"I've tried to be nice; he has this house surrounded by security, I am not a monster."
"No one says you're a monster, you hurt us so much."
Mel sees Lolita and walks towards her. "Melissa come and sit here, I've used my gun once, I'm not afraid to use it again."
Loren looks at Mel and signals her to sit by her. "I'm hungry, can you get me a plate too?" Lorie asks with an attitude.
Loren looks at Lolita. "Please bring Miss Lorie a plate of food."
Lolita practically runs to the kitchen, she gets a plate out of the cabinets, she notices Loren's phone, she searches through the contacts for Nora's number. She finds it, she's grateful to her grandkids for teaching her how to use the latest gadgets, the cell phone, she hits Nora's name, she quickly glances towards the dining room where she can hear Lorie talking. She's relieved when she hears Nora's voice. "Miss Nora, call Mr. Eddie please?"
"Loren?"
"No, it's Lolita."
"Why are you whispering, is everything ok?"
"No Miss Nora, please hurry and call Mr. Eddie, Miss Lorie is here, she has a gun."
"What, how did she get in?"
"I don't know, please hurry, I have to go." She hits the end button and places the phone in her pocket. She takes the plate out of the microwave and takes it to Lorie.
Meanwhile, Nora's shaking, she immediately calls Eddie, she prays he has his phone with him, after 3 rings, Eddie answers.
"Hey Nora, what's up?"
"Eddie, I just got the strangest call from Lolita, she said Lorie is at your house with a gun."
"What! How? I have security there, on my way."
He turns to Alex. "We have to go home son; mommy isn't feeling too well."
"Is Isabella almost here?"
"I don't know, let's go." He runs to the car, he calls aunt Linda and tells her what's happening. Linda drops what she's doing and heads to her car.
Eddie's heart is racing; how and why is Lorie there?
He's anxious, worried about Loren with Aunt Lorie, he should have taken care of things earlier, now it's too late, he calls the sheriff assigned to the case, he tells him what's going on. The sheriff tells him to wait for him, until his officers get to his house.
Alex can sense something is wrong. "Why is the police going to our house?"
"One of my aunts is there, she's not well, I'm afraid she might hurt mommy."
"She won't daddy."
"I know, Nora will be there when we arrive, you have to promise to sit and wait with her."
"Ok daddy, I promise."
By the time Eddie arrives, Nora's waiting in her car, Linda is there too, both women try hard not to cry. Eddie brings Alex to them. "Stay here with Grandma, the sheriff's here, let me talk to them."
"Please be careful."
As expected, the security man watching Eddie's home is laying on the front lawn, he's alive, Lorie hit him on the head, the sheriff calls for an ambulance.
Inside Loren's home…
Loren sobs quietly, she's afraid for her life, and the life of her unborn daughter, she isn't sure what Lorie is capable of doing!
Lorie hears the noise outside the house. "We have the police here."
"What do you want Ms. Lorie?"
She glares at Loren. "I want my own life, I was in love, I wanted a family too, I never got it, Katy won, she my son away from me!"
Loren and Mel look at each other; they don't understand what she's talking about. Loren's anxious, Lorie holding a small gun in the air, Loren's scared, she holds her baby bump, she can feel her baby kicking. She feels a contraction. Mel notices the anguish on Loren's face. "You ok?" She whispers.
"I just had a contraction."
"Oh my grandbaby will be born soon." She walks towards Loren. "Get up Loren, let me see that baby."
Loren gets up. "What are you having?"
"A girl." She runs her hands through Loren's baby bump, Loren's uneasy, she doesn't know what this woman is capable of doing, she's never felt this scared. Within minutes, another contraction, Loren leans forward. "Omg! I'm in labor!"
"That's great! I'll get to meet this baby, she has to know grandma, I'm her grandmother, I have a secret, Eddie is my son."
She looks at Loren and Mel; she raises her voice. "Did you hear me? Eddie is my son!"
"Yes, we heard you Miss Lorie, Loren is in labor, we need to get her to a hospital."
Voices are heard from outside, "Lorie, can we talk to you?"
She turns towards the window. "Now people want to talk, no one seemed to care before."
Eddie walks towards the sheriff. "I'm going in through the back door; my pregnant wife is in there."
"Your Aunt has a gun Eddie; she wounded one of my men."
"I'll take my chances; I have to get to Loren."
Eddie doesn't waste any more time; he enters his home through the back door. He walks in through the kitchen, he sees Lolita sitting quietly. "Mr. Eddie, she has a gun."
"I know, thank you for calling Nora."
"Mr. Eddie, Miss Loren is in pain, she's going to have the baby."
Eddie runs his hands through his hair. "I have to get her to the hospital."
He makes his way through the hallway that leads to the dining room. He sees Mel trying to comfort Loren who's in distress. He sees Lorie looking through the window.
Loren holds her baby bump with another contraction. "Mel, this baby will be coming soon, what are we going to do?" Tears stream down her cheeks.
"Hang on, don't cry sweetie, it's going to be ok, I'm here with you, Miss Lorie, we need to get Loren to the hospital, her baby will be born soon."
Lorie insists that baby is her grandbaby. "She can have it here, I want to meet my granddaughter, I was supposed to marry Max, Eddie is my son, this is my granddaughter."
Eddie's anxious, he has to do something, he finally knows what to do.
He walks into the living room area. "Mom Lorie, we need to get my wife to the hospital."
Lorie's smile grows when she looks at him. "Yes, you're my son, did Max admit it? Did he tell you how much he loved me?"
Eddie looks at Loren; he can tell the contractions are getting closer. "Yes he did, we need to get Loren to a hospital."
"Come and sit here with me, tell me how you've been."
Eddie lets out a huge sigh, his concern is Loren. "I've been fine mom, you know, touring now I'm having a baby."
"I know, it's a girl, Loren said you're calling her Lorie, thank you for the honor."
"Of course, we need Little Lorie to be ok, don't you agree mom?"
Lorie looks around, she smiles and then starts to cry. "I can't find Max; I've looked all over for him."
"Mom, he's been touring with me, don't you remember?"
Loren and Mel can tell Eddie's trying hard to calm her down. Loren's contractions are getting closer, Mel's timing them, they're 10 minutes apart.
Lorie sits quietly, she looks at Eddie. "I love you very much."
"I love you too mom." Eddie casually glances towards Loren who's breathing through each contraction. He wants to be by her side, but he doesn't want to upset his aunt.
Meanwhile outside…..
Alex is upset. "When is daddy coming? I want to see mommy."
"Sweetie, he's making sure mommy is ok."
"I want to see Isabella; I need to talk to her."
Linda smiles. "You will honey, daddy and the police are making sure Aunt Lorie is ok."
The sheriff heads towards Linda and Nora. "I have the paramedics on the way, the lady that called for help, says Loren is in labor." The sheriff holds Alex's hand and keeps him busy.
"My poor baby, she's in there with that crazy woman." Nora cries out.
Linda reassures her. "It's going to be ok."
They see an officer walk out of the house with Lolita. "Miss Nora, Miss Loren is going to have the baby."
"How is she?"
"She's doing well, Mr. Eddie is talking to his aunt, she's not making sense."
Linda holds her face. "I should have hospitalized her when she came over; I knew she wasn't well, if something happens to Loren or Eddie I'm to blame."
"Stop it Linda, we had no idea Lorie was this bad, now she'll get the help she needs."
"Mel is inside with Loren." Lolita adds.
Back inside, Loren's breathing through each contraction, they seemed closer, Mel uses a wet towel to wipe the sweat off her forehead.
Eddie's still talking to his Aunt. "Mom, I really need to get Loren to a hospital, you can come with us and wait."
"Are you sure? You're not playing a trick on me are you?"
"No, I'll make sure you come with us, I want you to see the baby when she's born."
"I'm not sure, I want her to have it here, I can see the baby here."
She gets up and heads towards Loren.
Outside, Alex continues to play, suddenly he runs towards the house. Linda sees him and screams his name. "Alex! Get back here!"
Nora jumps to her feet and runs after him. "Alex wait!"
He's too fast, he opens the door and runs inside, to everyone's shock, a gunshot is heard.
