Chapter Five – Ice Breaker

Sonic gulped. He had just dropped the biggest bombshell of his life. Gasps and sheer utter disbelieve filled the room, as the others from the Main Control Room came to join them, upon hearing about the commotion. They were all there. Amy, Tails, Knuckles, Rouge, and Team Chaotix. He preyed he was doing the right thing.

For years, they had worked together to keep Sukko hidden from everyone. Not even Tails knew. That had crucified Sonic, not to tell him. But now was the time to stop running. There was more to this then just Sukko being a Sorcerer. Sonic had been feeling it for some time, that they needed everyone to defeat Eggman, and that meant everyone. To hell with the law. He just hoped Mobius would forgive them.

Sukko was absolutely stunned. It still completely honoured him to be called brother to the Hero of Mobius, despite it being the truth. He panicked but immediately got a message from Sonic to go ahead. He looked up at Shadow, who still had him a firm grip, and finally, let go of his 'Arthur' disguise. He was been clinging onto the dark green Hedgehog for so long, that revealing his true form felt incredibly strange. His eyes then glowed deep royal blue, and 'Arthur' was no more.

In his place, revealed a stunning Hedgehog with blue fur that covers most of his body, peach on his arms, muzzle and belly, and emerald-green eyes. He had small, triangular ears on the top of his head, six long quills on the back of his head, two spines protruding from his back behind his shoulders, and a short tail. Instead of Sonic's red shoes with their famous red stripes, Sukko wore knee high dark brown and beige patterned leather boots, with no socks and grey soles. He wore a pair of white gloves with silver bracelets, over the thin cuffs on his hands.

Furthers gasps filled the room as someone said 'Twins!', Sukko never found out who. He was heaving as he knew all eyes were on him. He saw Shadow look down. His and Sukko's eyes met. Sukko grinned.

"Hi!" He smirked, and upon feeling Shadow disbelieve and loosening his grip slightly, Sukko, ever the opportunist, took as a chance to throw Shadow off of him. Suddenly exploding with blue luminescent vaporous hue, he used his Telekinesis to launch Shadow to the other end of the room. The Black Hedgehog crashed landed with a bang, but it didn't knock him out. The crowd screamed and then immediately backed away, silenced.

Magic!

Chaos Sorcery. Instantly recognisable, utterly terrifying. The rumours true.

Sukko jumped, swearing. He gulped. He instantly messaged Sonic.

{That was a lot harder then I'd intended.} He shuddered. {Sorry!} He added. Sonic blew it off.

{Don't worry. He'll be alright. Now, get out of here. I'll deal with this.} He ordered. Sukko huffed. Not this time.

{No!} He spat. {No more running, remember. This time, we do it together.} He growled. Sonic sighed. He didn't reply. He didn't need to. He completely agreed, and stood between his brother and the crowd looking on.

Because, finally they were together. Brothers. Twins. Identical. Their Psychic Link (The ability to hear other's voices, inside each other's heads.) was as strong as ever. In Sapients Society, twin births were relatively common, but there were nearly always fraternal. Non-identical. Identical twins did happen, but it was incredibly rare, and in Hedgehogs, completely unheard of. The brother always knew they were special in that regard.

Sukko, from over Sonic's shoulder, could see some of his friends visibly upset. He huffed again. This wasn't Sonic's fault, technically it wasn't his either, being born with Chaos Sorcery, they just did what they needed to. It was that stupid law.

Sonic was about the interject, but the Wisps got there first. They were a race of small, tentacled aliens who originate from Planet Wisp and possess a mysterious power that they allow individuals to harness. There are at least eight known individual Wisp types, each with their own unique ability. When Sonic rescued them, many of them went home, but a very large number of them stayed to help with the fight against Eggman. The Wispons were weapons that utilised the power of the Wisp inside of them.

They exploded from the Wispons, being carried by the crowd, and soon, Sonic and Sukko were surrounded by them. Twenty to thirty of them floating around their heads, showing significant interest in Sukko. He backed away. He'd heard of the Wisps but never met them before. (Sukko had never met a lot of Sonic's friends, having spent near all of his life alone.) He had never needed the Wisps help as he never went out of front line missions. He'd always been the guy in the background, the Intelligence, backing up the Hero. This, was new. Sukko gulped.

"Whoa!" He jumped. Sonic giggled, as several Wisp's cuddled him.

"Hey, it's alright. They don't bite." He grinned. Sukko heaved.

"Yeah, Ok!" he sighed, and then as he watched several Wisps chatter amongst themselves, he found himself automatically tilting him head to one side. Their language was entirely unique to them, and yet...

Sukko giggled. Sonic looked round.

"What!" He demanded. Now Sukko really laughed. It was very funny.

"Is Baldy Nose-Hair, really what they call Eggman!" He scoffed. It was the funnest thing he heard in a long time. Sonic stared.

"Wait! You can understand them?" He asked, amazed. Sukko then laughed even more.

"Oh, and you can't. Blue Pin-Cushion." He giggled. Sonic huffed, getting very put out.

"Hey!" He spat at Sukko, and then at the Wisps. "Hey!" Then he sighed. "No. I can't. No one can." He added. Sukko eyes widened. Then one of the Wisps, came directly up the Sukko, perfectly hovering with his eyeline, an appointed leader, cyan in colour. Their language perfectly clear to Sukko, no idea why or even how.

[This is no joke, Blue Savour.] He said sternly. Sukko gulped.

"Blue Saviour!" He stammered. "Me!" He added. "Don't you meant him." He said, pointing to his brother. Sonic stared, but the cyan Wisp was determined.

[It is written in the stars, that a Blue Saviour, will not only save his world, but others as well. To help all, and be helped by all. Ascending to the Heavens.] He whispered.

Sukko's eyes widen. Sonic confused, looked to his brother, who immediately translates down the Psychic Link. Sonic's temper explodes and he goes crazy.

"Wait! Him. What about me? All ever did was cover his butt..." He growled. Sukko covered his ears. Sonic didn't normally do this, but the Wisps had hit a serious nerve, and his brother had a temper. Infamous for it and it got the better of him. He was feeling utterly betrayed thinking all his hard work was all for nothing. He ranted and raved, both verbally and down the Psychic Link, it seriously rattled Sukko's brain. The Magic began to swell inside Sukko.

"Sonic." He growled, trying to hush his brother. Nothing, he was ignored. He tried again.

"Sonikku!" He hissed, and his eyes began to glow bright royal blue. Still he was ignored. Still the ranting continued. Sukko then lost his own temper.

"ENOUGH!" He shouted, as an explosion of luminescent vapour of bright blue hue that expanded out and enveloped the entire Restoration. Everything ground to a halt. Every Sapient, every Wisp, completely frozen, exactly where they stood or hovered. It was a though time had stopped for them. Anything organic was caught, everything except Sonic, who instantly fell silent. He was horrified. He knew Sukko had Telepathy but this was ridiculous. This was mental manipulation on a completely different scale. He looked at Sukko. He was glowing completely blue, breathing heavily, growling under his breath, the Magic in control. Panicking, he had to snap Sukko out this and now.

Sukko didn't care. He'd had enough of being told what to do, by his pompous little brother. Well, not that little. There were three minutes between them. But Sukko was boarder then Sonic, but the same height. He had more visible muscle on his arms, legs and torso, and he was heavier, not so well built for speed. Now, he'd grabbed hold of every mind in the building. This should now get his brother's attention.

Sonic was looking from one friend to another. All completely frozen. He knew why they were identical twins. Their father had the Chaos Power of Super-Speed. Their mother, Chaos Sorcery. When they were conceived, the Powers-That-Be must have decided that one embryo, and therefore one baby, was not strong enough to carry both sets of powers. So the embryo divided and thus the powers. But the divide wasn't clean. It wasn't entirely true that he had no Chaos Sorcery. He had one single trick up his sleeve . A cast that he could do that his brother could not. Teleportation. Without an Chaos Emerald. With one, it was Chaos Control, and a completely different Chaos Power. The ability to harness Chaos Energy directly, aka wield Chaos Emeralds. Sonic could do it, Sukko could not. Without, it was pure Chaos Sorcery.

Sonic couldn't go far. He could anywhere on the planet, with a Chaos Emerald, but with Chad Sorcery alone, it was about ten metres, through walls and it heavily drained him. A sudden noise from behind him, made Sonic panic as he immediately ran for his brother and swung his arms around his middle. He aimed for directly above their heads, and building the Chaos Energy inside of him very high and concentrating hard, he teleported, and the twins vanishing in a flash of blue light.

They landed heavily on the ground, outside, directly above the Restoration. Sonic's aim was spot-on, but he was left panting the floor. Sukko was winded, stunned. He'd just had his Magic forcible severed from him, completely collapsing the cast by removing him from the building. It would have successfully release everyone in the Restoration but was incredibly dangerous to thing to do. It was only because Sukko grip on each individual mind wasn't actually that strong, meant that being ripped from it, didn't damage said mind. If he'd been any deeper, Sonic could have killed someone.

It did successfully bring Sukko back to his senses, and he told Sonic this. He cried. He never meant to endanger anyone. Sukko grabbed and embraced him.

{No.} He spat. Down the Psychic Link. {None of that. We were both at fault there.} He sighed. That was true and he to felt equally as guilty. Sonic sniffed. Sukko continued.

{We will get through this. They know about me now, which meant we have to see this through right to the end. With or without them.} He paused. {Hopefully with.} He added. Sonic looked up and nodded. He frowned at Sukko.

{Promise me, you won't loose control like that again.} He spat. Sukko sighed.

{You know I can't guarantee that.} He paused. {But I will at least try.} He smiled. But Sonic's mind was elsewhere, and suddenly they were being attacked by Eggman's robots, completely out of nowhere. This caused him to grab Sukko for a second time and teleport out of there again. Another blue flash of light later and they were back in the Great Hall of the Restoration. Sukko felt it coming and this managed to land on his feet, Sonic on the other hand, had collapsed in his arms, out cold.

Sukko was fuming. Would he stop doing that. Sonic did not have the tolerance to withstand the drain that came with Chaos Sorcery. He sighed, and allowed Sonic to taken away by his friends, who obviously didn't trust him. But when they found out that he was just sleeping and not in any danger, the tension eased somewhat but it was still very awkward.

Everyone gave Sukko a wide birth at the Restoration, mainly out of fear. It wasn't because he was Sonic's brother. They welcomed another powerful ally into their ranks, especially one from such a special bloodline, though many weren't believing. But it was the fact he had Magic. Chaos Sorcery, and the fear very much still lingered. This left many people torn as what to do with Sukko. To trust him or not. As a result, a great many people who watched him intently but never approached him. He hated it, he never wanted to be feared.

Sonic had awoken up from his Magical slumber a few days later and drove everyone absolutely mad in the Restoration. He would not sit still. It was a mixture of the excitement of having his brother finally here by his side with the combination of the sheer nervousness of it all. It got so bad, that Sukko insisted that he calm down. When that failed, he used his Telepathy on him. Sonic didn't object, such was the trust he had in his brother. They were alone, so no one else was going to intervene. Sukko grabbed his brother by the arm, and by side of his head, Sukko placed his a hand. He opened and close his fingers, creating a miniature ball of blue light, as the bright blue luminescent hue swirled and a few seconds later, set it loose on Sonic's head, which quickly absorbed the Magic.

Sonic's eyes glowed a bright blue for a few seconds, and then as he shook his head, feeling slightly dizzy, he realised his hyperactivity had settled significantly. He was still nervous and tense but now a lot calmer. He thanked his brother, that actually helped a lot and then suggested a game. Sukko reluctantly agreed. He may have been the quiet one but like his brother, he did enjoy a game, and acknowledged it might break some of the tension. He did enjoy the rare opportunity to play whenever the occasion arose. Soon, Sonic was in the Main Control Room, acting very strangely, walking around really slowing, constantly looking over his shoulder.

The Main Control Room was full of people, obviously discussing the reveal, when Sonic's weird antics caused everyone to stare. Tails frowned, confused like everyone else, but the tension did somewhat dissipate.

"Sonic? What are you doing?" He asked. Sonic whirled round and waved at him. He grinned very nervously.

"Hi." He stammered. "I'm playing a game of Tag with Sukko!" He gulped. Tails stared, and silence fell about the room. Everyone looked to the Fox. The mention of Sonic's brother made everyone very weary. Tails took a deep breath, trying to sound as normal as possible. He knew the rules of Tag.

"Are you chasing him?" He asked, as cheerfully as he could. Sonic looked at him from his odd movements. He grinned, still heaving slightly.

"Actually, he's chasing me." He announced, to further stares. During a game of Tag, especially with Sonic, the Blue Blur always did the chasing. The other way round, nobody ever caught him. He was simply too fast. He looked at Tails and sighed. "It's the King of Speed verses the King of Stealth. There was a reason why you'd never seen him before, especially with his Invisibility." He grinned, still nervous. Tails gulped, more silent staring. The Fox gritted his teeth, time to mention the enormous elephant in the room.

"Sonic?" He breathed. "Your brother has Magic!" He stammered, to more gulps around the room. The fear of Chaos Sorcery and it potential corruption was still very real. Sonic who was still looking over his shoulder, turned to look at them all.

"And that's another reason why I didn't tell you. Yes, I'm sorry. But Sukko was born with the powers, so I didn't have the choice. I had to hide him. We did what we could to survive. What did you expect me to do. Abandon him, all because he was different. His powers being illegal. It's not fair." He sighed. "Well, I don't that, as you all know." He paused, looking specifically at Shadow. "So instead of Sukko just hiding, we decided to push to rules and he's been helping me out in secret for years. When it comes to Intelligence, there is no one better." He said, proudly. The Blue Blur had a very good point. He really didn't have the choice. Tails sighed, deep in thought.

"So, why reveal now?" He asked. Sonic huffed, now getting rather impatient.

"Because the both of us are fed up of running. We've been running our whole lives. So we decided that now the both of us are now powerful enough to take on anything, we figured to hell with Eggman and the frigging Mobian Authorities." He growled, showing his own hatred of them. They'd kill them both, given the opportunity, all because of the Magic. Again, he had a point. Sonic wasn't asking for forgiveness from them, just time to sort this out. Tails sighed. That was tough, and understood why Sonic did what he did. But he still felt somewhat betrayed, in fact most of them did, that Sonic didn't trust them enough to tell them the truth.

But this was Chaos Sorcery, it was dangerous. During the Purge, anyone and everyone associated with it was killed. Sonic was very scared of history repeating itself, and simply didn't want any of his friends involved. So he kept them in the dark. It was very understandable but still difficult to swallow. Then Tails, still talking for the group, suddenly realised something.

"Hey, your uncanny ability to always know where there's trouble. That wasn't you, it was your brother telling you, using his Magic." He gasped. Sonic giggled, but was still huffed at something.

"Hey," He smiled. "Finally, the Fox catches on. I told you he was good." He panted. Tails was absolutely stunned. They all were. He heaved.

"Wow, your brother really is good." He praised. To work in such secrecy and yet so effectively was indeed a talent. Sonic was now getting really peeved. He was impatiently pacing around the room, getting seriously huffed. He was still looking around the room, over his shoulder, and yet nothing was happening. Sonic looked back at Tails.

"His name's Sukko, by the way." He added, then out of sheer frustration at the lack of anything, he screamed at the top of his voice. "Come on!" He grilled.

Sukko was stunned. He been stood just outside main door to the Main Control Room and had overheard everything. He was completely Invisible, no one knew he was even there, and that was the point. He was the King of Stealth. He was honoured at his brother's praise and defence of him to his friends, but knew he had a long road to acceptance from them. But now it was rather amusing him to see Sonic getting more and more wound up by the lack of anything happening. There wasn't much direct sibling rivalry between them. They powers were so vastly different that never really showed itself. But there were occasions when the two would bicker horrendously, like any other siblings. Constantly winding each up, especially during the lulls between battles with Eggman.

Sonic was heaving, to slight giggles around the room. There was still a lot of nerves in there, and his own were at breaking point. He was desperate for something to happen and soon, otherwise he'd crack. This was not fun.

Sukko was about to make his presence felt, until Sonic actually did crack and started one of his infamously bad jokes. Staying where he was, Sukko rolled his eyes. Sonic grinned inanely.

"How many Hedgehogs does it take to change a lightbulb?" He enlightened to the now silenced group in Main Control Room. No answer. He continued. "Four!" He said, proudly. "One to get the ladder, one to paint the wall, one to clean the carpet and one to throw the party!" He giggled. More silence answered him, as confusion hit as that joke really didn't make any sense.

Suddenly, a thin sliver of bright blue luminescent hue could be seen around Sonic's left ear, to the shock of the room, who braced themselves, only to have it smack the Blue Blur around the ear, and then quickly disparate. This sent huge giggles around the room, as it was very funny. Sonic grabbed his ear.

"Ow!" He squealed. "Sukko!" He whined. Sukko rolled his eyes for a second time. The tension was beginning to get to him. A crisp clear voice rang from out of nowhere, just outside the Main Control Room. To look there was to see nothing, but the voice was so unbelievably dry, you could have sliced the sarcasm with a knife.

"Sonikku!" It droned. "None of the Hedgehogs are actually changing the lightbulb!" He leered. Sonic nervously giggled.

"Hey." He grinned. "I never said they were efficient!" He teased. Sukko facepalmed, running his hand through his quills. That was the butt of the joke. It was awful. Hedgehogs were actually ruthlessly efficient. None of them had ever been captured or killed by Eggman for exact reason. Sukko gritted his teeth, his voice still extremely dry, he definitely wasn't going to let this one stand. He temporarily forgot where he was.

"Doctor, can I swap this brother for one not so idiotically stupid." He grilled, emphasising the last word. A few people giggled from behind the Blue Blur. Sonic rolling his own eyes himself, put his head around the door, and looked straight at Sukko. He was still Invisible but to Sonic, he looked translucent, a hazy mist showing his outline. It wasn't Magic, but more the Psychic Link that was helping Sonic to see his brother. The Blue Blur grinned broadly.

"Sukko, don't be sarcastic." He leered. Sukko growled.

"Oh no." He defended. "You started it." He spat. Sonic grinned and nodded. He totally did start it, and was very proud of himself that Sukko took the bait. His brother spat. That was a cheap win. Time get his own back. He curled his lip. His voice still thick with sarcasm.

"And what would you do without me?" He leered. Sonic, who had now gone back into the Main Control Room, looked back at the door. Sukko hadn't moved. He frowned.

"What do you mean?" He asked. "As in what would happen if I got captured?" He shrugged. Sonic was slowing taking the bait. Sukko smirked.

"I know what I would do." He giggled. Sonic frowned, now really confused.

"What?" He gasped, getting frustrated. Sukko pushed even further.

"Celebrate!" He hissed. Sonic frown deepened. What was his brother getting at?

"What?" He repeated. Sukko smirked broadened, he was enjoying this way to much.

"Sure." He hissed. "If it meant not looking at your ugly face again." He hissed. Sonic giggled.

"Oh really." He spat. "Says my identical twin brother." He grinned, his smiled broadening. Sukko smirked turned into an enormous grin. Time to go in for the kill.

"Hey." He giggled. "I never said it was perfect." He smiled, and boom, Sonic absolutely exploded.

"Oi!" He growled and immediately ran out of the door, at breakneck speed, to find Sukko had already vanished. Actually he hadn't gone far. He'd just pushed more Magical power to his Invisibility so that he completely disappeared even from Sonic. Unfortunately, he couldn't maintain this for long, as it was very draining. Sonic's friends were amazed. They had been trying to wind Sonic up for years and failed, and they had just watched his brother do a perfect wind up, hitting the nerve beautifully, in under ten minutes.

When Sonic came back, he was fuming. Badly swearing under his breath, cursing at Sukko for disappearing on him. He was panting heavily. That was a win, Sonic was not going to let it lie. His friends eyes widened. Never in a game of chase did Sonic not catch his prey. His brother was really good.

Sukko saw this distraction as an opportunity to catch his brother. The game of Tag was very much still on. He silently slide back near the door of the Main Control Room, and then inside. It was now or never. Sonic was still heaving, his friends looking at him, not sure of what to make of what they had just witnessed. Only true siblings could bicker like that. He really was family after all, despite the powers. Sonic was pacing the room, still angry, but then he felt it. The slightest of feelings behind him. He looked, nothing there. The feeling was so small, he would have missed it. But he knew the feeling far too well. A certain someone was sneaking up on him. Sonic stopped and stood completely still, looking over his shoulder. He smirked. If Sukko thinks he can catch him, he can totally guess again.

In the blink of an eye, Sonic moved incredibly fast, just as his brother makes a grab for him, revealing himself in the process, to the complete shock of everyone there. Sukko misses him by a matter of millimetres, and Sonic then proceeds to bolt out of the room, straight for the Great Hall. Sukko may not have had Super-Speed, but he was no snail, and sprinted out of the room straight after him. For a Hedgehog running on pure muscle, Sukko was fast, and as Sonic jumped and summersaulted over people to get away from him, Sukko was easily able to physically match him. He may not have been physically powerful, Chaos wise, but muscle wise, he was very fit.

The twins stunned everyone by moving so fast, and by the time they had ran to the Great Hall, they were even more stunned to see that Sukko had managed to catch Sonic with his Magic. They had never seen Sonic being caught like that. Nobody had ever been fast enough. Sukko had the high-speed reflexes, having grown up with the King of Speed, but lacked any straight line speed. His skills were elsewhere. He stood firm in the centre of the Great Hall, with streams of bright blue hue of luminescent vapour pouring out of his hands, across the cavern and wrapped around Sonic several metres away. This eyes glowing brightly. Sonic, however, was not giving up. He was not letting Sukko have this one. He was running the opposite direction from Sukko, creating an almighty tug-of-war. Sukko had to physically touch Sonic, to 'tag' him to win the game but the Blue Blur was having none of it. He ran the opposite way as Sukko tried to drag him towards him. He knew Sukko's Magic was powerful but this was epic, and Sonic had to seriously push himself to get loose. In fact, it took a Super-Sonic Triple Super-Spin, his most powerful move, to actually break free, and even then, he had to push it seriously hard, harder then he ever done before, to wriggle free from Sukko's almighty grip.

Sukko was struggling to keep hold of him. His brother was powerful. Ruthlessly powerful. He hadn't earned the title of The Hero of Mobius, for nothing, and now fully understood why. He threw all the Magic he had at his brother, pushed his Telekinesis to the limit, but it wasn't enough. He strained as hard as he could, but the powerful Speedster finally broke free, throwing him backwards, but somehow Sukko managed to stay on his feet. Both the twins were left out of breath as Sonic had stopped to look at Sukko to mock him. Sukko growled back at him, cursing under his breath, as the Blue Blur blew raspberries at him. Now they were even, and promptly disappeared in a cloud of dust and a Sonic Boom a few minutes later.

Sukko rolled his eyes. Oh, he was going to get him, when his brother least expected it. He heaved. But that was seriously hard work, and the closest Sukko had ever come to winning a tug-of-war with Sonic. His powers had grown recently, but so had his brother's and realised he'd never win a one-on-one fight like that, not against him. He also understood where their Cannonball move was so effective, during the couple of rare occasions they actually used it, when Sonic would Super-Spin right into Sukko almighty grip, and he'd swing him around like a cannonball. It was huge fun, but also ruthlessly efficient at destroying Eggman's robots.

Sukko looked up to see all of Sonic's friends staring at him, marvelling at his sheer power. He could really match Sonic one-on-one. He felt the emotions in the Great Hall, the tension was all but gone, the game as an icebreaker had worked, but the fear and weariness of his powers still remained. This made Sukko very uncomfortable, now that everyone in the Great Hall was staring at him.

Suddenly, Sukko vanished to get some peace, behind his cloak of Invisibility, to everyone complete confusion. He'd had enough.
