Yay, a new chapter. Or at least part 1 of it, I'll try to post the other half soon. Hope you like it :)
I don't own any character from My Hero Academia, they belong to Kōhei Horikoshi. But Grim and Dev are mine.
Friday was finally here, although many students were looking forward to this day. Some unfortunate souls were not relishing it, they were writing down their homework fast and the bell would ring in 5 minutes.
"But didn't you finish your essay a few days ago Kaminari?" Jiro was looking over to the frantic blond, and then a glance over to Mineta "You didn't do it either Mineta?"
"I used most of my time trying to figure out a motive besides all the girls I get to see" Mineta was drooling with his thoughts and lost a minute to his fantasies.
"I did finish mine but I lost it" Kaminari was almost in tears, fearing the punishment for not delivering his homework over to Grim.
"How does one lose one's homework, ribbit?" Asui taught out loud with her signature thinking-face on. "I don't know okay. It was in my backpack at school and gone when I got home."
Just as the bell rings, Midoriya and Bakugo enter the classroom, and it got suddenly quiet. Midoriya was blushing red and Bakugo had his usual devil-may-care-look on.
'Something good happened this morning' was the general thought going around the classroom.
"Now that you two are done sucking face maybe we can start this day" Grim appeared behind them making Midoriya even redder and turning Bakugo's ears a little pink. Bakugo was about to give her a piece of his mind, but a soft hand around his wrist stopped him and he let himself be dragged over to his seat.
"Now first thing first hand over your assignment before you get some time to update your training journals and set a plan for this weekend. No slacking off."
"What! We have to train this hard during the weekend too?!"
"Yes, you do have to train that hard, Pichu. If you want to be a top hero you have to train every day. You kids have to get into shape not just for the festival, but also the pro-life. Only then, can you relax some and mostly focus on maintaining your strength. Both I and Dev are training every day, some days harder than others. "
"Can't we just have it easy today? Please" Kaminari was halfway begging over his desk.
"Do you think villains take it easy? No, they plot new ways to take over the world or whatever nonsense they tell themselves. We have to be at the top of our game and constantly think of new fighting moves or how we can better use our quirks. Remember this; a lazy hero is a soon to be a dead hero."
The reality of Grim's word settles over the class and put a little lid on the weekend feeling.
"All of you showed us something special during your entrance exam, and that is why you are in class A instead of B. some got a lot of villain points and some got plenty of rescue points. And the rest of you got a good mix of both. And before you ask, I saw the recording of your exam. And for today's exercise, you are gonna do it again. But this time, you are gonna aim for the record on that course." Grim said that with her evil smirk on her face. The class knows something is up today.
Hagakure collected all the assignments from the rest before she sat down on her desk and updated her journal with what has been done and plans for the weekend. While the students worked, Grim read thru some of the essays, starting with Aoyama.
'I want to be a hero because I can't stop twinkling, and I can use my twinkling to distract and blind the villains. Oui Oui.
But mostly I want to be a hero because of me, so maybe that way I can be more confident in myself and by that be braver during villain confrontation.'
'Hmm… A bit short, but straight to the point. Good work, work on that confidence and the rest will sort itself out.' Grim noted her thought on to the paper before teleporting it back on Aoyama's desk.
Okey over to Ashido:
In my eyes, a hero is the one person who stands up for those that can't, even if it scares them. A hero should be brave on the outside, even if they are super scared on the inside.
That is me; I show my brave side to the world with my bobble attitude and smiles. Even if I'm scared on the inside, I want to be a hero so nobody is scared of anything and that includes me. I wanna be a hero so that I can get over my scares and insecurities. And show the world how brave a hero can be.
I can see she has worked hard on this one by all the marks and erased parts. 'Good work and keep practising your dance move, you are gonna need them. It is okay to have fears; it's how you work through them that matters'. Grim did the same on this one as the last paper she read.
Due to my background, I know how to handle any stressful encounter. I want to use what I already know and can and build upon it, so that the people can benefit from it, ribbit.
Many civilians will be scared under a villain attack and they are gonna need a cool head to calm them and ensure that everything is gonna be Okey.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm gonna need a levelled head to turn to too. But the civilians come first, once they are safe I will worry about myself.
Ribbit
'Both I and Doc will lend an ear if you ever need it. Also good work and writing from the heart.' The essay got teleported over to Asui desk before she and the rest started leaving for the locker rooms.
I come from a family of proud heroes, and I may aspire to become a hero like my brother Tensei, the Hero known as Ingenium. I know deep down that I will never become exactly like him. To me, he is the best in his field.
I don't just wanna be a hero because of my family, but also for myself and for the people that I will save in the future. A lot of hard work will make it happen together with learning from the best there is both here at school and out in the different agencies around the country.
I will work hard and study hard so that I could be the best of me there is.
'Nice goals Prez and good work on going deep inside you to find the answer. But do have some fun too. Also, say hi to Iggy from me.' The essay was then teleported into Ida's bag.
The main reason for becoming a hero is for the money.
But not money for myself, it will be money for my parents so they could live a comfortable life. My childhood years weren't easy; I saw my parents struggle more than once. So me becoming a pro hero and making money so they don't have to work so hard anymore.
I want to send them on a vacation as a small thank you for supporting me in becoming a hero.
A big part of becoming a hero is money, but it's not the entire reason for joining U.A and becoming a pro hero. I also want to use my quirk for something good, like helping people, cities and the environment.
'Taking care of your loved ones is a good reason, don't worry as long as saving people is your top priority, the goal behind it shouldn't matter to anyone else but yourself.' Uraraka's essay got the same treatment as the rest before I got ready to head out to Ground Beta for today's fun. I grab the rest of the essays to finish my reading.
As I walked over I started to read Ojiro's essay,
I don't wanna be handed the title of a hero without earning it. And like the rest I bet, I want to work hard to protect the civilians from the villains we are gonna face up against in the future.
Like the 'prize' you put out in front of us on your first day here. You didn't just give it to us right there. You made a deal with us that we had to work hard and earn those after the festival. So my guess on that is that you are testing our resolve and if we can focus on short term goals.
If that is the case, I'm all up for earning my keep both here at school and as a future pro hero.
'Almost on spot there, Taily. Good work on using your head, but you also has to use your heart. Don't shut out your heart during a fight, the civilians need to see that you care.' The essay travelled back to the classroom and into the right bag.
"Now let's see what Pichu has to say," I said to myself as I got close to Ground Beta, I see Aizawa up there already waiting for me and the students.
With my electric quirk, I can help disaster areas that have lost their power and electricity. I want to be able to use my quirk at the max more often than I am not. One big move and I'm out, this is kinda stupid and I know that.
I wanna be able to impress the girls with how versatile my quirk can be, it can do more than just destruction, it can be helpful when needed. But I need to have my head in the game for that and not go around like a giggling buffoon and have the others to protect me until I'm back to normal.
That's not a hero; I wanna be able to protect my friends and civilians without losing my head.
'Nice work for a 10-minute essay. You will find the original at the corner store at your house. Utilize your quirk up to 90% when performing your big move, as you use it more you become stronger. It's better to get multiple of 90% attacks than only one 100% attack' I laugh as I let the essay travel thru the air and back into the classroom.
"Something funny there Grim?"
"Seems like Pichu here managed to lose his homework while playing yesterday, so I told him where he could find it"
"So what was that you sent away?" Aizawa looked after the flying paper. "That was his essay, kinda good for a rush work."
"So you are tempting them with breaking your record?"
"Japp and they got the rest of the school day to try, but I don't think they are gonna be close. But I want them to at least try to improve their score from last time. To see if they have learned anything from this week and the villain attack."
Bakugo and Midoriya were the first to show up, walking very close to each other almost hand in hand. Midoriya was all red cheeks and a big grin, and Bakugo was smirking a little.
"I see you two had a nice walk up here" I smirked at their closeness, knowing what's bubbling up between the two.
"I'm so fucking beating him in this and that fucking useless record you say you have on this course" Bakugo was very proud and certain of today's outcome. "Even if you don't know what the record is and who set it?" I was curious if they knew about the record.
"I don't care how fucking high it is or if the damn king of the world set it, I'm gonna fucking break it"
"Do you feel the same, Midoriya? What do you think?"
"I'm gonna do my best and improve my score from the exam. The one who set it has probably graduated now; did All Might set any record while he was in U.A?" and there he goes into his mumbling zone.
This is how the rest of the class found them, Midoriya with his mumbling, Bakugo getting annoyed, and the two teachers smirking and snickering. "You know the best way of getting him out of that daze Blondie."
"The hell I do" Bakugo turned towards the teacher and saw Grim's smirk and he knew what she meant. 'Fuck'
He then grabs Midoriya by his arms and dragged him closer, when he was close enough he bent down and kissed Midoriya hard. Enjoying the quiet and the kiss a little too much, Bakugo continued with the kiss moulding his lips against the shorter boy. He started nibbling on Midoriya's lower lip, wanting to get entrance for what more he wanted to do. He heard a soft moan come from the boy in his arms and he knew he had to stop before it got way past return. 'Shit, he tastes so damn sweet'
"Now then, now that Shortstack here is back to himself and the rest of you are here let's start."
Aizawa started a short explanation on the course "For those of you that didn't go through the entrance exam, here is the short version on what to do. Take down the villain robots and survive until the last bell of the day."
Grim continued "The pair closes to the record and the end of the day, gets Saturday off training the rest of you have to show up here for training." The door to Ground Beta opens and the students walk inside and get ready to fight.
"Wait, what was the record?!" Kirishima yelled as the door closes, "10".
"10!? 10 what?" Kaminari asked out loud to see if anyone got the rest of the sentence. "10 can't be right, so it must be more to it" Midoriya was thinking out loud. "I'm hoping not" Kirishima stressed some more, "but you are probably right".
"Maybe she would tell us more during the time here, right Midoriya?" Yaoyorozu asked the thinking boy. "Yeah, it could be, because 10 don't sound right at all."
"Either way I'm gonna beat it. Later extras" and Bakugo was off. "Kacchan"
"And off he goes, well then good luck you guys." Kirishima went off into a side street and the rest dispersed around the ground.
Aizawa and I entered the control room to have the best overview of today's playground. "Should we start with 100 of each type of robot?" I asked while punching some buttons on the computer to get the robots ready. "That's 400 robots Grim"
"Oh, you think it's too little? I was thinking that many until lunch break, and then double it."
"Well, it is your class" the sleepy teacher commented and settled into his worn-out sleeping bag. I just shake my head at the older teacher and put in the number of robots I wanted. And I opened up a video link out to the ground.
"Hey, kids" I got their attention "so, until lunch gets here there will be around 400 robots walking around in this city, take down as many as you can so that you have a good start. Also, you might have misheard me earlier about the record. Combined it is closer to 10 000 points, and it was set by yours truly." I gave them a big smile before closing the video feed and settling myself into the chair with the rest of the essays.
I want to become a hero because it's the manly thing to do. I want to evolve my quirk so that it can become useful for a pro agency and for the civilians we are gonna save in the future.
I don't have a very special quirk; it's not flashy or anything to show off. But it is the one I have and I'm kinda proud of it and what I can do with it.
Before I lacked the spirit and the courage to become a hero, but then I watched an old interview of my idol, Crimson Riot. He helped me grow and to get over most of my insecurities.
'Every strong sword needs a strong shield, and that is what you are. You will be the shield for those that need protection. Be proud of who you are.' And off the paper fly.
I'm not the violent kind but I still want to be a hero. So save those that can't speak for themselves. I may not be good at taking down villains, but I'm very good ad rescue work. There I can get help from many of my furry friends.
Just not ask me to talk to bbbb….bugs.
'Help can come in all shapes and sizes, even bugs can help. And with working on that fear you will become the ultimate animal lover and rescue hero'.
The paper left my hand as soon as I was done writing down the note. "So what does the class baker have to say?"
I have to eat sugar to use my quirk. For me to be at my best I eat sugar in battle and to train up my intake I eat sweets. If I wasn't aiming for a hero, I would probably end up as a baker or a confectioner. But I don't think I'm good enough to call myself that.
I like the rest want to become a hero so that we can save the ones that are not as brave as we are. We go in there, whether if it's a fight or a rescue mission; we have to be at our best.
'You are right; we have to be at our very best every day. But don't sell yourself short on your abilities; if it's your quirk or your hobbies, they all matter. What we learn outside of hero training, may one day come in handy in hero work.' Continuing on the multiple armed Shoji;
I want to save people not just make them cry and fear me just because I look different.
Even if they treat me differently or anything bad, I will save them from villains and even themselves. I rather give my life to save 1 or 10, than go on living knowing I could have saved them.
I will stand up for the little man or woman.
I will protect them.
'Don't listen to idiots that have too much time on their hands. You live your life to the fullest with no regrets. Continue your training, and maybe add some stealth and surveillance into it.' I may need to have a word with Shoji if this thinking goes off the grid.
I know I can't fight all that good in hand to hand combat. But with the help of my ears, I can hear the weak spots on the villain and I can be a good asset for stealth and rescue missions.
Both my parents are musicians, but I wanted something else for myself. I want to be a hero, to save people and let them return to their families and live their life.
My music is my private thing, and if I ever need it during training or when we do hero work I will do my best with it.
'Don't let anyone take away your passion for music. Use what you know and what you will learn to your advantage. Your parents would be proud either way if you become a musician or a hero.' "And next one is Sero hmm." I thought out loud as Jiro's paper flew away.
Here is Tapeman.
He would be flying through a city near you.
I may be able to raise myself to the top, but I won't do it alone. I will support my fellow heroes in training so that we all can aim for the stars.
I believe in doing your best even when the odds are against you.
My quirk can be useful for the restraining of beaten villains or saving falling civilians.
'Humour is always a good distraction, but don't let it distract you from your goals. And don't let girls distract you either. Your match will come one day.'
"Your next birdman" I start reading the next one as Sero's paper transports itself to its owner's bag.
I'm very serious about my work as a hero in training. Both I and Dark Shadow want to protect humanity from the darkness that lurks in this world. There is darkness sometimes that can consume both good and bad people.
I will be there in the shadows to drag them out to the light and life.
Aye!
My quirk is tied to my emotions, and that is something I'm working on. To not be overruled by my emotions.
'There is a saying in a game I use to play, 'We work in the dark to protect the light'. This line applies to you, not the assassin part but the work in the dark part. You and Dark Shadow are one being and don't hide your emotions. They make you stronger, and by becoming more in tune with Dark Shadow you will not be overruled by them.' I let a little birdy take it to its owner's bag before I went on to the next one.
I want to prove to a certain person that I can become a great hero without using fire. I won't give him that pleasure of watching me go all the way to the top by using 'his' side of my quirk.
I may not surpass All Might, but I will surpass him.
'Todoroki, you have to come up with a better reason for wanting to become a hero than surpassing your father. Don't let him be the reason, that way he would win no matter what. Do this because of the people you care for and because it is something only you want.'
"Maybe I should fight with Endeavor to prove a point" only getting a snore from Aizawa as an answer. "It's settled then, during break time at the festival."
I want to prove to the world that just because you're invisible you can still be a hero.
Even if I have to take my clothes off to take full advantage of it. I still want to prove it. Even if I'm not the best fighter, I can be better at other things like sneaking around. I don't appear on anything, like radars, and stuff like that.
I also want to save all the cute things in this world.
'Use your invisibility to the max, even if you embarrass your fellow students when you go full stealth. Be the best at stealth and mission that requires it.' I let a cute plushy walk away with her paper, knowing it will go directly to her bag with it.
"Blondie what do you have to say"
A good hero never gives up. The best hero will never take a loss or give up. The best heroes fight until the end when there is nothing left but to go the extra mile. Find that extra strength to win.
All Might is the best there is at this moment, but I'm gonna pass him and go beyond. And I'm not gonna let anyone stop me.
I don't care about people saying that I have a huge ego or that I have a future villain written on me. They are none the wiser and will never reach the top.
I may have had some small losses at the start of school, but that won't happen again. I learn and become way better. Nobody is gonna keep me back.
'You are a little predictable too. And try to keep that ego of yours in check, and you may learn something very useful.' Then I notice the sentence that looks like it has just been added because it is in a different colour.
I want to protect those that are dearest to me.
Even if it is useless Deku.
I didn't comment on the last sentence before letting the paper leave my hand. "Good he is learning something. Let's see what his partner has to say.
From when I was just a kid I always wanted to become a hero. A hero like All Might, not because he is the best, but because no matter how dire the situation is he smiles. A big smile can do a lot for scared civilians.
But then I got the news that I had no quirk, and I was devastated. But I still didn't give up my dream of becoming a hero. And by a miracle, I got a quirk.
So I trained and I trained, and I got into U.A, where I know train to become a full-fledged hero. I may not be the best at using my quirk like the rest of my fellow students, but I'm learning. And with practice, I will master my quirk.
I want to be able to save those that are in need, and I want to do it with a big smile on my face to reassure them that everything is gonna be okay.
I want to protect the ones that I love and the ones I hold closest to my heart.
'Noble reasons Shortstack. To be able to reassure civilians is a good trait. But don't be an All Might clone, be yourself. That way you will become a great : I'm adding a copy of Blondies work, but only the last part of it. I'm also doing the same to his.'
I make a quick copy of Midoriya's ending and add it to the paper already in Bakugo's bag, and I did the same to Midoriya's before it flew towards his bag.
"That is gonna be interesting when they see that." I laugh for myself as I think about it. "On to Mineta"
I want to become a hero so that all the girls know my name.
Even if I'm not the strongest or the most handsome hero, I want the girls and the rest of the people to know my name. Because I helped them or I saved them, they won't look down on me.
'You will be known as a good hero Mineta. But do get your head out of the gutter from time to time. And don't let your height keep you down, use it to your advantage.' I let go of the paper as soon as I'm done with my writing. "Last one"
For me, a good hero put others above themselves. They don't tear people down but build them up so they in return can build other people up.
Seeing other heroes build their companies, partners or hero in training up is a huge motivation for me. And it's that kind of hero I want to be.
I want to be able to inspire the future hero in training when I'm a pro hero. To be able to inspire the people to be the best that they can be and to do what must be done, to keep the civilians safe.
'To be able to inspire the young generations is a good cause for wanting to become a hero. Keep up your good work, and don't let a few bad setbacks stop you from achieving what you want.' I turn my head towards the clock and see that it is a few minutes until the lunch bell rings. The paper teleports into Yaoyorozu bag and I turn on the microphone. "You kids have 2 more minutes until lunch break and it's 34 robots still in play." I then take a look at the scoreboard and am not shocked when seeing Bakugo only has villain's points.
"Let's see if he can get some rescue points after lunch then."
How was it?
please review :)
