Chapter 5: A Day at Kennywood Park

The next day, I met up with Sarah, James, and Henri, as well as some of my other best friends Alex Russo, Justin Evans, and Max Greenwald at Kennywood Park. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. I ended up riding the Sky Rocket with Max, the Thunderbolt with Alex, the Phantom's Revenge with Justin, the Jack Rabbit with James, the Racer with Sarah, and the Exterminator with Henri. Other rides that we rode included the Black Widow, the Pittsburg Plunge, the Whip, the Swingshot, the Wave Swinger, the Musik Express, the Cosmic Chaos, the Grand Prix, and the Aero 360. We also got dinner and ice cream at the Pagoda Cafe while watching a few high school marching bands perform in the Fall Fantasy Parade. "I'm sorry that we couldn't ride on the Steel Curtain today," I told my friends. "But hey, at least we got to ride the Exterminator today!" "Do you remember when the last time you rode the Exterminator was, Henri?" Max asked. "I don't really remember, Max, but it was a long time ago," Henri replied. "I can tell you that." "I am especially excited to watch the marching band perform, James," Justin stated. "It reminded me of when I played the trumpet back in high school." "Yes, besides the food and rides, music is a big part of Kennywood as well, so I can definitely agree with you on that, Justin," James agreed. "It would have been cool if 98 Degrees performed at Kennywood Park instead of all the way in upstate New York at the New York State Fair," I told my friends. "Same with Carlos Santana!" "Yes, that would be amazing, all right," Justin told me. "Yeah," James agreed. "Now that this is the last outing of the summer, I feel like crying," Alex stated. "Why, Alex?" Sarah asked. "Because, Sarah, this has been an amazing summer and I don't want to see it end," Alex explained. "Nobody wants to see the summer end, Alex," I reassured my best friend. "What helps me is that I try to think of some fun things that I can do all year round in the summer, fall, winter, and spring." "Well, there's Station Square," Sarah pointed out. "The home of the really nice restaurant where we took Angel out for her birthday and we split that delicious ice cream sundae." "If only Kennywood had delicious sundaes like these," I stated, spooning into my ice cream cup. "The last trip that we took to Kennywood Park before Angel went off to Edinboro University was rather bittersweet," Alex stated. "We got to go somewhere fun that we like to go before Angel's big adventure." "I remember that the first couple years at Edinboro were rather dark and uneventful for me, because I didn't have any of you guys around," I told everyone. "You guys are the best!" "Aw, thanks, Angel," Sarah told me. "We think that you're a good friend, too, Angel," Alex added. "Even if I couldn't ride the Steel Curtain, I got to ride some of my other favorite rides!" I told my friends. Pretty soon, it was time for all of us to leave. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
