"Uncle 'Restor, can you play with us?"

"Pleaseee!"

Erestor pinched the bridge of his nose then turned to face the two little boys that kept insisting he leave overseeing the preparations for the end of winter festival, and go play with them.

Deep down, this was exactly what Erestor wanted. He loved to spend time with his nephews, especially the little ones, but his duties and responsibilities put a barrier on that.

He kneeled down to look at the little twins in their eyes.

"Legolas, Estel, you know that your ada put me in charge of the festival's preparations right?"

At the mention of his father, Legolas brightened up "Aye! Ada's coming soon!" he said excitedly, bouncing on his heels.

Erestor cracked a smile. Legolas's adoration and attachment to Elrond never ceased to amaze anyone. The father himself was pretty much attached to his child as much as his child was attached to him. They had a unique bond between them.

"Exactly little leaf, I don't want your ada to come back and find everything still not ready. So I'll tell you what, why don't you go play in the yards, and I'll come join you when I'm done." he suggested.

Legolas and Estel jumped up and down.

"Aye! Thank you Uncle 'Restor!" they yelled simultaneously then ran to the yard, their hands linked together.

Erestor just shook his head chuckling then resumed his preparations.

He stared at the valley with hatred.

Long had he hated elves for what they did to his son, and vowed to take his revenge, even if it took years.

He started to look for the hidden valley of Imladris, but it proved to be more difficult than he imagined, as it was properly concealed and very few knew the location of it. But if it meant getting Elrond back at what his kin did, he would go with it.

So after years of trying to locate a person with the knowledge of the hidden valley's location, he finally met an old man at an inn. But the problem was, he didn't talk to almost anyone. So after slipping a certain substance in his drink, the man extracted the location from him and immediately started the journey.

For weeks, after his arrival, he started to observe the elves of Imladris, and more specifically, Elrond's family. He noticed how Elrond had 4 sons, and the 2 younger ones were doted on from everyone, including their older brothers. He also saw how much the blonde child stuck to his father, and how the blonde child and his twin never ever left each other's side.

That was how he decided his target, but getting past the border guards was another challenge. Luckily, he successfully created a diversion that captured the attention of the guards and slipped into Imladris, to carefully start planning.

A week later, he saw Elrond leaving the valley, but his happiness was short lived when he noticed that Glorfindel, the mighty and legendary Balrog slayer returned from the patrol. Nonetheless, he planned, and decided to carefully wait for the appropriate time to set his plan into motion.

Then, one day, he saw the subjects of his evil plan come running into the yard, a bit far from The Last Homely House, and decided that this was it.

Today was the day he got his revenge against Elrond Peredhil and all the cursed elves.

"Alright Las, I'm going to count and you hide." Estel told his brother as he turned to face a tree.

Legolas giggled and started to run lightly on the wet grass, the snow having melted, and started to scale a tree.

" Nineteen, seventeen, twenty. Ready or not here I come!" Estel finished his jumbled counting then hollered and turned to start searching for his twin.

He ran lightly on the grass, much like his brother and started to peak behind every tree, bush and rock there was.

Frowning he cried out "Las? Where are you?" Because of the super strong bond that existed between the two of them, hide and seek was usually a very short game. One always found the other quickly.

Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.

"Las?" he cried out again as he continued to search for his twin.

Suddenly, he paused and listened. There! He heard muffled sound, so he started to run towards the source of the sound and what he saw made him freeze with fear.

There was a tall man with dark hair and cold dark eyes, and he was holding Legolas with a knife to the elfling's throat while the other hand held him firmly and tightly in place.

"Well well well, what have we here. The human comes to rescue his elfling twin." The man said as his face twisted into an evil grin.

Estel then felt something surge into him, a feeling of protectiveness for his twin.

"Leave him alone!" he said as strongly as he could, glaring at the man.

The man threw back his head and laughed, and doing that caused the knife to be pressed more into Legolas's skin who whimpered, tears rolling down his eyes.

"And why would I do that child." he sneered the last word.

Estel glared harder "Because my ada will find you, and he'll hurt you!" he replied.

The man smirked "Your ada is not here young child. Now come here unless you want your twin's pretty throat here to be split."

At that, Legolas's eyes went wide, despite the tears that still streamed down his face "NO! ESTY RUN!" he yelled in sindarin.

The man's features hardened even more and he shook the elfling, then slashed his knife against the elfling's arm, causing bright red blood to stain the light blue tunic from the small cut that the knife made. The elfling sobbed harder at the pain and fear.

"Be quiet," the man hissed, "And speak in a language we can all understand. Now come here young human, unless you want your twin to go through worse." the man threatned.

Legolas stared at his brother through his tears. "Esty go. I don't want him to hurt you too. Please."he communicated with his twin through their mind bond.

Because their bond was so strong, the twins could sometimes communicate telepathically.

Estel squared his little jaw "No, I'm not leaving you Las. Ever!" he said right back.

"What are you waiting for runt! Get here! Now!" the man yelled.

Estel nodded and started to make his way towards the man and his twin. Suddenly, the man let go of Legolas and placed a cloth doused in liquid over their mouths and noses. The twins inhaled the liquid through their surprise and fell to the ground, unconscious.

The man smiled, his plan was finally in motion.

Glorfindel roamed through the halls of the Last Homely House, searching for his two smallest nephews.

He hadn't seen hide not hair of them all day. But then, he was helping Elladan and Elrohir with their archery, teaching them all the tips and tricks that help advance their skills.

After that, he took a quick bath, and exited the room to search for the little twins. Minutes passed, and he had scoured the entire house and adjoining yards but couldn't find them. So he did the most sensible thing and went to find Erestor.

He found him relaxing in an armchair with a cup of tea between his hands.

"Erestor, have you seen Legolas and Estel?" Glorfindel questioned him.

"Hello to you too Glorfindel, I'm doing great thank you very much. Yes, I sent them to the yards to play." Erestor replied.

Glorfindel made a face at him then immediately sobered up. "I've searched everywhere for them, but haven't found them." he told him.

Erestor got up from his chair "They must be playing hide and seek, that's what they said they wanted to play with me before I sent them there. Come gwador let's go search for our two little rascals." he told him while placing a hand on Glorfindel's shoulder and steering him towards the door.

The two made their way to the yards and started searching for the little twins, but couldn't find them anywhere. Suddenly, Glorfindel's voice rang out.

"ERESTOR COME QUICK!"

Erestor ran towards the source of the sound, alarmed. When he reached it, what he found alarmed him.

Glorfindel was kneeling next to a puddle of blood, red-silvery blood. His eyes went wide.

"That's Lassie's blood. Oh my, Glorfindel what happened to them." he gasped.

Glorfindel fell back to the floor, "I found this pinned to the tree." he whispered mournfully while holding out a piece of paper.

Erestor took it and began reading it.

To Lord Elrond Peredhil of Imladris and all his accursed elves,

You most probably don't remember me, or what you and your kin did to my son, but I never did.

Long have I dreamt of revenge against you, and now it's finally in my hands.

I have your little sons, and you're never going to see them again.

Well, at least the elfling. I would never hurt a human, much less a child. But as he's your son, he'll watch his brother suffer.

Then I'll see you suffer the loss of a child, much like I did.

Your sons and I are going to have so much fun.

Signed,

Amith.

Erestor finished reading, his heart clenching with dread and fear then sank down next to Glorfindel, his legs barely able to keep him up.

"What are we going to do?" he whispered.

To be continued...
