TEEMING

Carter was a farmer. He knew that dirt was just teeming with all sorts of life. Rodents and critters made their little homes under the ground. Bugs, insects and worms dug about, acting as either a hindrance or help to crops. And, if he had a microscope, he would find billions of bacteria milling about. Within rich soil, seeds took root and grew, gathering nourishment from all sorts of minerals and nutrients.

Yup. He knew all that. Which was why he found it kinda funny that the dirt from the cave-in was now sucking the life right out of him.
