Vincent soon found himself back in his hotel room, silently sitting on one of the beds as Asamad waited for the others. Nekara was still on his mind, no doubt it was the influence of her spell, and yet.. somewhere deep down in his consciousness, he was thinking of the others too.
He stood up, and Asamad turned around as he heard him.
"Take me to her.." Vincent mumbled.
"I can't do that. She's too dangerous," Asamad told him.
Vincent ran for the door, just before Asamad grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
"No! Nekara! Where are you?" he yelled.
"I told you, I am not taking you to see her!"
The others now came bursting through the door, breathless and exhausted.
Vincent broke free of his ancestor's grip, and sat down on the bed again.
"How is he?" Daphne asked, still trying to catch her breath.
"He's okay, well, he's still under the love spell, doesn't talk to me all that much, and won't stop trying to see her. But I'm working on it," Asamad said. "Wait, where have you been and why are you all so breathless?"
"We had to run down several blocks since Nekara was chasing us after we escaped the fight she started. Gosh, my feet are killing me."
Everyone sat down near Vincent.
"So, have you come any closer to fully breaking the spell yet?" Velma wondered.
"No. I tried to do it on my own, and yet almost nothing happened. I did figure out why though. All of us have to do it together. The Power of Friendship or Family is what will truly free him. Nothing else. Nekara despises any form of it. So naturally, her magic would be powerless against it," Asamad explained.
"Well that does make sense. When Vincent made his speech, he did say 'I would like to thank my family. Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby, Flim Flam, Velma, Jayden, Cheryl, my ancestor Asamad, and Scrappy,'" Jayden recalled.
"Yeah, but Scrappy isn't here with us right now. He's been missing for years. There's no way of knowing if we can do this without him," Shaggy said.
"Which gives us yet another reason to try," Daphne announced, "The last time Nekara went after him, we were so close to breaking the spell before Vincent did it himself."
"Rhe's right," Scooby approved.
Vincent glanced at everyone for a moment, then they all glanced back at him.
"Nekara, my love.." he spoke in monotone.
"She's not your love," Cheryl told him.
He got up, banged on the door, and started to scream.
"Where is she? Where is the love of my life?"
"SHUT UP!" Asamad fumed, as he pushed him away from the door, "Ugh, I am so sick of hearing you talking about her. I have had enough of this!"
"Okay okay, calm down," Daphne began. "Look, I know you're angry and you're frustrated. I am too, and that's why I snapped back at Nekara, before we got into a fight. However please, don't take it out on Vincent. You know he can't control this and he needs our help right now. We're all not having a great night, but everything can still get better once we defeat the ghost."
Asamad looked away, feeling ashamed of what he had just done.
"You're right, I'm sorry. Sometimes, even though I'm certainly on my way to achieving redemption, it's just.. still difficult to control my anger. It's almost impossible to watch him suffer like this. Especially, when she tried to put me under her spell too, and I've hated her ever since," he sighed.
"We know how you feel. None of us like this. Wait, I thought you used to be friends with her just like you were with the other demons," Cheryl responded.
"Yeah, but she and I always fought with each other. Looking back, I don't even know why I let her into the 13 Ghosts League."
"Maybe that's one of the other reasons why she went after him this time. Not just to steal his powers, but also to get back at you for what happened all those years ago?" Shaggy guessed.
"That could very well be a possibility," Velma agreed.
Flim Flam put his hand on Vincent's shoulder.
"We're gonna fix this, don't worry," he assured him.
Vincent didn't reply, but Flim Flam knew he could still hear him.
Minutes passed, Nekara had somehow found Vincent again, and lured him out of the room. The gang chased after them and entered the van.
"This'll be a faster way to find them," Daphne told everyone, getting in the driver's seat.
"Rou sure? Rwhat rif rhe sees us?" Scooby asked her.
"She won't. We'll sneak up on her right when she's about to kiss Vincent and then trap her in the chest," Jayden promised.
The great dane nodded.
Velma had the crystal ball in her hands as the van turned on, trying to pinpoint where exactly Vincent had been taken to.
"Nothing's coming up on the crystal so far," she said.
"I'm sure something will appear on it as we get closer to our destination," Daphne replied.
Then, they all drove off.
Vincent looked around as the other warlocks partied and danced the night away. They weren't under Nekara's spell, on the account of Nekara wanting Vincent's powers more than theirs.
"Oh Vinny, can I have this dance?" Nekara asked him, still getting all handsy with him and planning to kiss him right after.
Deep down, he wanted to say no. He wanted to run away and go celebrate with the gang instead, and he hated her calling him "Vinny." But yet, he was still falling under her control, so he couldn't say no.
"Yes, my beloved," he replied.
And so, they slow-danced together.
I hope the others come quickly to save me from this, he thought to himself, Please, all of you, if you're out there somehow listening, help me.
Notes: Yes, every chapter so far having the word "love" in it is intentional, since this is all about Vincent falling under Nekara's love spell. (The only one that won't have the word "love" in it will be the last chapter) I probably will address Asamad being unable to control his anger at times in future chapters/episodes.
Another thing, Nekara trying to put Asamad under her spell all those years ago when he was a warlock and him not falling for it, and also him hating her for that is another headcanon of mine. I just assumed that since she tried to go after Vincent, that maybe she once tried to go after Asamad too at one point.
Last note for now: I did come up with the name "The 13 Ghosts League" for the 13 Ghosts from the chest because they never were referred to as anything else. So, I just thought that they might've had an official name back then and it could've been something similar to that.
