Rin sits at her desk pondering how she would respond. Her palms become sweaty, and she takes a tissue and wipes them. "Okay calm down Rin. A cup of coffee could not hurt, but it would be so awkward. We both want the same thing but what would we talk about really?"
She picks up her phone and texts Sesshomaru.
Rin: We can have a cup of coffee.
She thought it couldn't hurt. It could either go good or bad, but those damn paparazzi would have a ball.
Sesshomaru felt so relieved. He felt Rin would say no but she surprised him.
Sesshomaru: When are you available?
Rin: We can go now if you like. I am not doing anything.
Sesshomaru: That would be wonderful. I will meet you at the Lucky Cup Café in 10-15 minutes.
Rin: Yes, that would be perfect.
Rin smiles, she was excited that they would be together despite the circumstances. She longed for a date with Sesshomaru but was too busy to have one when they were on better terms. It will not be too bad like she thinks, they will get along; hopefully.
Rin: Those Paparazzi will piss me off.
Sesshomaru: They will, but they do not matter, all that matters to me is being within your presence.
Rin blushes, he always was good with his words.
Sesshomaru gets there first of course and orders him a coffee, and Rin's favorite. He then waits outside for her. He thought they could take a walk; it could be better than sitting in a restaurant in an awkward silence.
Rin pulls up and she looks over at him from the car, he looks incredible, as he always did.
Rin was still in her work attire but that did not stop Sesshomaru from looking of course. "I took it upon myself and ordered your usual."
Rin takes the cup from Sesshomaru, "Thank you".
There was an awkward silence they both were afraid of; they end up breaking it by speaking at the same time. They sounded silly and it mades Rin giggle. Sesshomaru expression never changes but he was amused as well.
"They have a pathway, would you like to take a walk," says Sesshomaru.
Rin nods and they began walking.
"This weather is really nice to take a walk huh," Rin says trying to make conversation.
"Very quite nice," Sesshomaru responds. "How has work been today?"
Rin thought this would be a perfect opportunity to let him know that she made some changes to her work schedule. "I know I mentioned to you that I made some changes to my work schedule".
Sesshomaru nods and hums.
"I am not working as often. I do not want to make the same mistakes as before. Everything was new to me, and I was excited for my brand but since I made a name for myself, I can bring others into my practice. Therefore, I do not have to spend as much time at the office or in my laptop. I just like hearing what others have to say because not only do I help them, but they also help me."
"I always wanted you to make a name for yourself Rin. I just needed time with you as well."
"I see that now and that is why I want to make changes. It is not like we had a bad marriage; we had a wonderful marriage. It was just letting the most important factor fall to the waist side".
"Rin you have really blossomed. The way you speak, the way your mind works; it is fascinating".
Rin Smiles, "Thank you".
Sesshomaru asks, "That day, did you really come with the intentions of making things better between us?"
Rin eyes dim, she hated thinking of that day but to be honest she did. "Yes, I did, I realized that our marriage was going downhill, and I missed the intimacy and I thought you did too."
Sesshomaru caught that but yes, he missed it immensely.
Rin continues, "I had something planned but I had to cancel everything. I don't say this to make you feel guilty, but I was caught off guard, I was embarrassed."
"I was weak."
"Either way we are here now and starting on a new foot, I would like to hope. We will eventually talk about us but right now let us just focus on what we can do now to make things better, like us communicating."
"I agree with everything you say Rin."
Rin laughs, "You can't agree with everything, you should have some say so as well."
Paparazzi shows up asking all types of questions about their relationship. This was expected being that they are in the public eye. Rin and Sesshomaru gave each other a look in understanding and they both walked away and went their separate ways.
Rin was not in contact with many of Sesshomaru's family members since their split. Kagome, her friend was married to Sesshomaru's brother, and she barely contacted her. She just didn't want to hear what anyone had to say about her marriage. She thought she could handle it, but she really did need her friend now, she missed her. So, she picks up the phone and calls Kagome.
"Long time no hear Rin".
"I know I have been doing my own thing, keeping to myself".
"That is understandable, I wouldn't know what to do if I was in your shoes".
"Thank you, that means a lot Kagome. I have missed you dearly. I thought I could go on and just shut off everyone and start a new life. I know you heard about the dates I went on.
"Yeah, I heard a lot, but I would like to hear from the horse's mouth".
Rin turns on facetime. "Oh, it is nice to see you my friend", Kagome says sarcastically.
Rin giggles.
"So, tell me everything Rin".
Rin tells Kagome everything from her walking in on Sesshomaru at his job and him popping up at hers. She tells her how he tracked her down when she went out on a date.
"It has been a rollercoaster with that guy, but we have been talking and went to a couple sessions of marriage counseling. It helped us communicate and we have been doing better with that as of now".
"That is good to hear. I am not here to judge you on whatever decision you make. I am here to support you. I will never say you shouldn't do what your heart and mind is telling you to do. If he fucks up again, that is on him, and that still will be your decision to make. If you decide you are done, I will be there through whatever you let me in on".
Rin was so happy; this is exactly what she needed to hear. "Thank you, Kagome, I am so happy. I should have let you in. I should have known you would be supportive, I isolated myself and I was so lonely".
"You don't have to go through situations alone. You have friends and family that will support you even if we have an opinion about it but at the end of the day, the decision is yours".
Sesshomaru attends a family lunch with his father and brother. Inuyasha speaks about how him and Kagome were trying to get pregnant but been unsuccessful. Sesshomaru was a little jealous that they were trying, he couldn't even get that far.
"How is work Sesshomaru?" Toga asks.
"Nothing major, I am thinking about opening the office back up. I think I am sort of in the clear now. The investors that left, I was able to fill in the blanks since I no longer had them on my team. I really didn't need them; it was just nice to have. It actually kept my mind off Rin".
Toga nods, "My next question was going to be about Rin".
"Yeah, because Kagome told me she has not spoken to her, so none of the family truly knows what is going on." Inuyasha says.
Sesshomaru would prefer to have it private, between him and Rin; sometimes Jaken.
"I would prefer it that way but since I went to counseling, I am starting to see other views".
Toga and Inuyasha eyes widen.
"Do not give me those looks".
"I am quite surprised my son. I thought you would only see things your way until the day you meet your demise".
Sesshomaru rolls his eyes. "Turns out, I do not know how to deal with being ignored. I felt you ignored me, and I felt Rin did the same, so I did what I wanted to get the attention".
Inuyasha was surprised to hear Sesshomaru respond about anything personal, but he also felt like he shouldn't be a part of this conversation. It had more to do with his brother and father".
"I will let you all talk, I am going to the bar".
Toga and Sesshomaru turn from Inuyasha.
"Why do you feel I ignored you Sesshomaru?"
"When I spoke to you about Izayoi, it was dangerous".
"Yes, it was dangerous, but I loved her, and I would do anything for her".
Sesshomaru understood that because he loved Rin the same.
"You left mother because of Izayoi and didn't consider what it did to me. You didn't care about anything I had to say".
"Sesshomaru I admit that I should have talked to you, you were still a young pup. You were also very much like your mother; you wouldn't have understood. I think you do now though. Me and your mother were together solely on producing an heir, you. There was no love, and whether you believed it or not then, I fell in love with a human, my mate. There truly was nothing lost between me and your mother, she was not upset as much as others tried to portray. She just thinks it's quite unusual to bond with anything that isn't your kind. Some humans have those same feelings".
Sesshomaru looks down and thought his father was right. "Now I understand father on how you felt those many years ago. I went down the same road as you".
"You cannot run away from fate; she is your mate. The both of you need to get your shit together".
Sesshomaru agreed, "I will have my mate back".
Toga growls in approval, "Indeed you will".
That appeased Sesshomaru because his father and him share the same thoughts when it comes to their mates, Sesshomaru just thought irrational.
"Are you both finished growling at each other, it is becoming embarrassing".
"Quiet Inuyasha, you will never be able to share a bond as me and father, your bloodline is diluted".
Toga looks to Sesshomaru and thinks, he really didn't change too much.
"A good conversation with dad and think you are high and mighty. Don't worry I will not give you a hard time, I see what you are going through. I will say this though, I am glad my marriage is going great!"
Sesshomaru glares at Inuyasha.
"What you started it!" Inuyasha yells out.
Toga puts his hands on his face and breathes out, "These boys!"
