Things have been getting better with the two, both of their lines of communication continued to flow.
Rin thought they would need to have a talk eventually about moving forward but she didn't want to move too fast. They still had a long way to go, most of all learning to trust again. She hated that they had to start a new life like this but at least it was a move in a better direction. She just wanted all the awkwardness to fade so that they could get back to having intimate moments again. Like holding hands, flirting with one another, whispering sweet nothings in each other's ears.
This soon shall pass; she hopes anyway.
Sesshomaru gets picked up by one of his drivers. Jaken was already in the vehicle with him. They begin to have a conversation about Sesshomaru taking Rin on a real date.
"Something on your mind, Lord Sesshomaru?"
"I want to take Rin out on a real date. Drinking coffee was okay but I need... I just want to take her out on a date. Wine and dine her like I use to".
Sesshomaru imagined what she would look like dressed up, she always looked her best.
"Just ask her my lord, what could she possibly say? Yes, or no?"
Sesshomaru glared and then grunted. "I am aware of that! I just don't know how to approach her. I don't want any more rejection from her, I need her".
"You won't know until you ask my lord. Just do it".
"I suppose".
They arrive at the office, and it was a big day for Sesshomaru.
Since the scandal has calmed down, he opened the office back up and it was now full of employees. They may stare and whisper inappropriate things, which he was not ready for. He knows he has done his deed; he gets enough of it in the press. He was now trying to right his wrongs and be seen in a better light.
It was all or nothing and he knew when he opened his business again, it was a possibility for negativity. His employees will have a watchful eye on him. Upon them entering the building, everyone had to sign a non-disclosure agreement. If they did not agree they were given a severance package.
It was tough. luckily, he had some good employees that were loyal to him. They knew he was just trying to make things better for himself, as their boss, and him as a husband.
He liked how everything was going with Rin. The sessions they had with Tsukuyomaru helped to see what it was like from someone else's point of view. He needed to regain his clients and partners trust again. So, the counseling could also show a mirror of how he treats others, not only his wife.
He will work on his behavior towards others and the relationship with Rin, he could not lose her. All he had to do was communicate how he felt. In the little time they went to counseling, he needed to know for sure Rin wanted this.
Sesshomaru really didn't want to be at work for the day, he hated his office now because of the memories there. He thought he would possibly rebuild the whole entire place so it wouldn't carry such a reminder. He wanted Rin to come to his office and not feel uneasy, she deserved better than that.
He wanted to take Rin out somewhere more intimate. He took her to a lot of places, but he wanted to take her somewhere and really have a nice time together. He was nervous, the coffee shop was okay, but this was different. He didn't know when it was a good time to say something to her, but he didn't want to waste any more time saying nothing. Her only possible answers could be yes or no.
Sesshomaru: Good Afternoon Rin
Rin: Good Afternoon Sesshomaru
Sesshomaru: How is your day going?
Rin: It is going just fine; I am finishing up with my last client. Could you give me a moment?
Sesshomaru: Sure.
Sesshomaru waits impatiently for 15 minutes and then she messages back:
Rin: Sorry about that, how is your day?
Sesshomaru: It is going a lot better now that I am in contact with you.
Rin: Yes, it is nice to be in contact with you as well.
Sesshomaru took a deep breath, he was glad she somewhat reciprocated his feelings.
Sesshomaru: I wanted to ask you something. I don't want you to think I am out of line, please tell me if I am.
Rin: What is it?
Sesshomaru: May I take you out somewhere? It was nice to be around you when we had coffee. I wondered if you would go on a date with me. If it's too early and seems as if it is being rushed, I apologize.
Rin looks at her phone and she didn't know what to say. She wanted to say yes, but she also wanted to say no.
Rin: Can I get back to you on that?
Sesshomaru: Yes of course.
Sesshomaru thought since she didn't say yes or no that there was a chance. He hoped she would say yes. He wanted to keep talking to her, so he kept texting her.
Sesshomaru: You finished up with your clients early?
Rin didn't know if he was trying to be funny, but she would still answer him anyway.
Rin: Yes, Since I have changed my hours, I don't really have that many clients anymore. I get to have more of a home life. You and our marriage counseling sessions have shown me that I could have that life. To have my sanity.
Sesshomaru: That is good to know, those counseling sessions really do help especially with communication. I love communicating with you like this, it is what I missed!
Rin looked at his text and smiled, she missed communicating with him as well. After counseling she was open to speaking more, she missed this type of communication between the two. She wanted to talk more with him, so she made her decision.
Rin: I will take you upon that offer. I hope wherever you are taking me it is somewhere nice! ? ﾟﾘﾊ
Sesshomaru: It will be meaningful. I am happy you said yes. I want to make more of an effort, I want to work things out with you. I truly do miss my wife.
Rin: Things have been tough, but the strong make it through the tough, and we just may be that example. I had a lot of emotions, but I never stopped loving you Sesshomaru. I have missed you as well. Just because I am saying these words which they are true does not mean we just jump back in. We will take our time, we missed out on a lot of time together. Therefore, we need to learn who each other are since our time apart.
Rin's text warmed Sesshomaru's heart. He still had her heart. He would mend every piece back together. He didn't care how little time they would spend together as long as it was with her. He took a chance and said:
Sesshomaru: I love you Rin
Rin: I will see you on our date!
"I will get you to say you love me back Rin. You said you didn't stop loving me, that is different from saying the words. I will get you to fall back in love with me," he says to himself.
Sesshomaru: Friday at 6pm, I will pick you up.
Rin was not ready to say those words to him, but it spoke volumes with him sending it to her. He didn't realize he said it out of the heat of the moment. They both had to show and prove their love for one another.
Rin thought about this date night thing. It didn't feel wrong going out with him, it's just so awkward. She could plainly see Sesshomaru doing his best for their marriage. Was she holding back? Was she the one keeping it at a standstill? No, this is normal when there is infidelity in relationships/marriages. In order to get that trust back, it had to be built again, and each party involved has to take responsibility. It would be no point of moving forward if the lesson was not learned.
Rin also had a lesson to learn in which she felt she was doing a good job at. She decreased her working hours. She hired staff so that it could decrease her workload. She thought about hiring life coaches, mental health techs, and therapists. Therefore, there will be more than one person a client can go to without going directly to her.
Next, she would need to be the woman she was always meant to be. This wasn't for Sesshomaru, this was for her. She had to learn herself. That was the only way she can love someone else. She knew there was still love there for Sesshomaru. This was her time to see if she wanted to continue to seek things through with him. This date was technically the first step to see where this marriage will go.
She didn't tell Sesshomaru she loved him back for that very reason. She had love for him, but she wasn't sure if she was in love with him anymore. That may be a hard pill for him to swallow because she is his mate, but she could reject him.
Rin clears out her desk and heads home to wine down. She takes out some sage and smudges her altar space and meditates. This always helped calm her nerves when she felt not sure of herself. She was enjoying herself for the most part, her alone time, not being tied to anyone. Then there was another side to her, that yearned to have a warm body to cuddle up against.
She still had a couple more days until Friday. She will see how the date goes from there.
Sesshomaru dresses himself in a charcoal gray suit, with diamond cufflinks. He had his hair up in a ponytail. He has not dressed up in a while, for a date that is. He looked to his tie and thought about the many times Rin would pick out something for him. She had the perfect eye for color coordination.
"Maybe she will help me tonight".
Sesshomaru sends her a text:
Sesshomaru: Which tie? ? Burgundy or black?
Rin smiles, he still sought out her opinion for his attire.
Rin: Burgundy, it matches your stripes.
She smiles after she sends the text. She thought about everywhere those stripes were and licked her lips. Damn near a year apart, oh yeah, she was most definitely horny. She had to keep her composure tonight, she didn't want to let loose.
Sesshomaru smirks at her text. He remembered how she use to trace those same marks. He wondered if she was thinking about that but not saying so many words.
Sesshomaru: I like it, maybe you could assist me like old times.
Rin: I could help, you would always get flustered. No reason really, you always looked good in everything.
Sesshomaru: That was all you. I was a compliment of you. If I looked good, it was because of you.
Rin: That is very sweet Sesshomaru!
Sesshomaru: I will be there within the hour.
Sesshomaru picks Rin up and she was absolutely stunning, just as he pictured it.
"You look very beautiful Rin".
"Thank you". She looks to his tie and smiles, "Here". Sesshomaru bends down a little and she adjusts his tie. "Perfect," she says.
Sesshomaru almost melted at the touch, but he was sure his eyes would not hide it.
He walks her to the passenger side and opened the door for her. She looked amazing and there were some things he could not see in her work clothes that he could see now.
He thought to himself, Kami let me get through this night.
Sesshomaru gets in and Rin says, "Where are we going?"
"Some place that will not grab too much attention from paparazzi, but I am sure they will be there amongst the gossipers".
"Can't really run away from that".
Sesshomaru takes Rin to an upscale restaurant, and it was like old times. Sesshomaru could see a genuine smile across Rin's face.
She looked so sexy; he could see all her curves. She looked as if she gained some weight but all in the right areas. Rin's curves seemed to be more pronounced and that spoke to him, he could see her carrying their pups.
Sesshomaru asked how things were at her office. She tells him everything is going good despite the controversy; she gained more clients. Unfortunately, she had to turn some down until she finishes the hiring process.
She thought he may be nervous because this is not the first time, they talked about this. She could understand as well, it is like you are fishing for some kind of conversation. She found herself doing that too, so she couldn't judge, she would keep answering him.
He was having a hard time, she did make him nervous, but he eventually warmed up to her as the evening went.
At times she could hear whispers about them, and Rin would seem like she was fading but Sesshomaru brought her back to reality. He kept engaging her so she wouldn't get distracted by the whispers.
"Rin, I want to talk to you about some things, but I want it to be at the right time. Is talking about our marriage okay in this setting?"
"It is fine, we are both, "Adults", we can talk about it".
Communication had to be open for both, no matter how uncomfortable it may get. Rin braced herself for what Sesshomaru would ask.
"Do you think you will be able to get past my infidelity?"
Rin breathed out, "Right to the point huh. Honestly, at times I think I can and other times I don't think I ever will. I know my heart aches for you, but it breaks my heart when the thought or the visions come across my mind. I want to forget, but I honestly don't think I ever will, it will forever be a part of my memory".
Sesshomaru didn't know how to take this information, it seemed all bad until she spoke again.
"I don't think any marriage that has gone through infidelity will be the same, it will always be there. You just have to learn to trust again and if you love that person, you make sure it doesn't happen again".
"Rin I could never let it happen again. I learned a lot of my behavior stems from my past. It took me to a place where me and my father were not on good terms. Which resulted in "bad", behavior when I didn't get what I wanted. Me recognizing that behavior made me want to become a better person for myself and for us. I never want to hurt you again Rin. You hold something that I could never give another, I know that now. It has torn me apart being away from you".
Rin stopped eating, it was so sincere, and it almost broke her down, but she could not let him see her breakdown. She looks up to him, "Thank you Sesshomaru, that means a lot".
"I take accountability for my actions. I didn't think I could lose you Rin. Me losing you felt like my world was in shambles. My judgement was cloudy, I was thinking irrationally. I was trying to force you to love me and forgive me, but it takes time for those types of things to happen. I can no longer blame you for my actions, I must own what I have done in this marriage. I neglected the marriage and then I cheated on you, that is the truth; my truth".
Rin nods her head, "I was not the best wife, I neglected the marriage too. I could have compromised more with you about mating. I know we had a set time; I just didn't want to give up something I just earned".
"I cannot help my instincts, there were so many times during our love making, I almost bit you. I had to hold back, because once I knot inside you, you would become pregnant. My youkai recognizes you as my mate and it will not let up until I released into your womb".
Rin stares at him, that was so erotic the way he said that.
She had to control herself, he could sense her if she was not careful. "I understand and maybe we could talk about that in a different setting and when we are in a better place".
Sesshomaru was always straightforward with Rin even if it made the environment uncomfortable, but she wouldn't trade it for the world, he was being his true self.
"I want to understand more about human emotions".
"I want to understand more about demon ways or is it just, Sesshomaru ways".
Sesshomaru smirks and Rin almost lost herself in that smile he only gives her, "A little bit of both. I am stubborn and I like having my way". Sesshomaru looks at Rin as if he wants to devour her.
Rin is becoming uncomfortable; she doesn't want to be lost in his trance. She would easily give in if he kept that gaze up.
"I think I would know that" she laughs.
"Are you finished your meal?"
"I have, you haven't even touched yours Sesshomaru".
"I am not interested in what is on my plate. I hunger for something else".
Rin takes her water and begins gulping, she had to take control of this. It was steering the wrong direction and Sesshomaru was trying to seduce her with those lustful golden orbs and that deep baritone voice, all was missing was his fangs and claws.
"I am tired and have to get ready for bed. I have a big day tomorrow".
There was sexual tension between the two, but Rin was the only one willing to divert it.
"Plus, I am tired of these cameras and everyone whispering as if we cannot hear", Rin adds.
Sesshomaru motions for the waiter to get the check so they can leave.
They get up to leave and Sesshomaru wanted to stop somewhere else before they head home. Sesshomaru takes her to a cliff where the moon shined bright, and the ocean was calm. The moon looked as if was a mirror in the water. He told her to hold on to him.
They begin to rise, "Rin if I could, I would give you the moon".
Rin's eyes begin to well up.
"Look to the sky Rin". It was a shooting star and Rin eyes widen in excitement.
She closed her eyes and made her wish.
He smiles. "I hope whatever you wished for will be granted to you".
"I do too, thank you Sesshomaru for taking me here. You know how I am with shooting stars".
"It brings me great delight to have shown you this".
They walk back to the car, and Sesshomaru drives Rin home.
Rin begins to think maybe she will be able to get past everything. Every now and then she would look at him and see him and that woman together and she wants to end the marriage. She sees a change in him and it has her interested.
Sesshomaru is showing a different side and she wants to continue to see this side of him, the real and true demon she married.
