The Wedding
Olivia leaned over the railing, the saltwater below filling her nostrils, holding two glasses of red wine. The night had gone off without a hitch. Fin's non wedding had been beautiful. She surveyed her friends around her, glancing at Amanda out of the corner of her eye leaning into Carisi just a little too closely and grinned. She was happy for her friend. And yet she wished she could have that with someone. With Elliot. Elliot who she had thought about all night. Elliot who she had dressed for without meaning to. Elliot who hadn't shown yet. Olivia turned back to the railing and closed her eyes, breathing out. She jumped when a familiar hand touched her shoulder, gently caressing it, and burning like fire. She knew without even looking. "Elliot. You came." Smiling softly, Olivia turned to look into his twinkling blue eyes, catching his admiring gaze. "Wouldn't miss this. Just running late. What did I miss?" Laughing, Olivia filled him in, handing him his glass of wine as he put a jacket over her shoulders, always the protector. "Liv…they seem like a good couple. How'd they meet?" Olivia spoke softly. "They were each other's partners."Always so in sync, they spoke as one, raised their glasses, a knowing grin on their faces. "To partners." Putting down his glass Elliot looked into Olivia's warm eyes, searching for something. "Liv…" she smiled, her eyes twinkling. "Yes?" She put down her glass too, looking up at him. Elliot took a step forward, drawing her to him. "To partners, Captain." Cupping her face, he did what he had been wanting to do for 23 years. He kissed Olivia Benson thoroughly. Slowly. And deeply, knowing he never wanted to stop. Her arms wrapped around him, melting into his embrace. Their foreheads touching, they grinned before looking back out to the water, awaiting what was yet to come. Partners…for life.
