Eddies POV:
Coming back to Even's apartment after my first successful shift at 51 I decided to have a quick shower grab some food then call everyone in L.A the guys on 9 are amazing and I can see myself becoming part of the 51 family.
My first call will be to Bobby he alway knows what to say when I need it.
"Hi, Eddie, how's it going in the Windy City?" Bobby asks.
I sigh and say. "It's going better than I expected." I say as I rub a hand over my face.
"So why's that a bad thing?" Bobby asks, I love how he can read me so well.
"Because now I have to figure everything out all over again in a new city and uproot Chris, yet again." I told him.
"First off, I'm sure you will figure everything out, you always do and you have Evan. Also uprooting Chris again, I get that it can be a little scary, for both of you but I'm sure he will be fine." Bobby says and I know he's right.
"Thanks Bobby you're right." I told him.
"You just gotta embrace this new journey, and be thankful for the opportunity." Bobby says. Which again he's right.
"Okay, I will thank you Bobby. I gotta go though I gotta call Chris and Carla before he goes to school." I tell Bobby.
"Okay, this change will be good for the both of you, I just know it." Bobby says, and then we hang up.
I call Carla and she answers with a. "So when do I bring Chris to Chicago?"
"As soon as I find a place for us, unless bucks okay with Chris staying here with him, I'll talk to buck about it. Thanks by the way, for everything." I tell Carla
"No problem, anytime, just let me know when you want me to bring Chris down and I can pack up your stuff and have it shipped to you if you want?" Carla asks
"Okay, that would be great, thank you." I say just then ask to speak to Chris.
She puts Chris on the phone. "Hey dad." He says.
"Hey bud, how are you?" I ask
"Good, so are we moving ?" chris asks
"Yea bud we are, is that okay?" I asked the 7 year old.
"Yes that's fine, I was looking online after my homework yesterday and Chicago looks really cool. Could we go see some sports games when I get there? Did you know it also snows? That's going to be so much fun." Chris is listing off so much stuff it reminds me of Buck I think drifting off to his voice. " Ok dad Carla says it's time to go to school, I love you dad." Chris says and I sigh and say "okay I love you too, talk to you later."
After I get off the phone with Chris, I get ready for the day with Sylvie, then I head out to the kitchen where Buck is eating breakfast.
"Hey." he says, noticing me coming into the room.
"Hey, how do I look?" I asked
"Good." he says with a raised eyebrow.
"I'm spending the day looking at places with Sylvie, then we are going for dinner." I told him.
"Oh, so that's why you're acting like a nervous teenager." Buck says with a chuckle.
"I haven't dated in a while, and I'm nervous." I explain
He nods as he takes a sip of coffee as I continue with
"It's just, it was Shannon the last one I dated." I explained
"I get that, and that must be hard, but Sylvie is a great girl and I can see you two being good for each other. She's had a lot of bad luck in the love department as well so at least you have that in common." Buck say,
I chuckle, then say. "Thanks, I just feel like it's wrong to move on, but I know I need to."
"I get that, but it's not wrong to move on and be happy, she wouldn't want you to be alone and miserable for the rest of your life." He says and I nod, knowing he's right.
"Thanks Buck, I appreciate it." I tell him and he nods.
Just then there's a knock on Evans door and it's Sylvie as we decided she'd drive as I don't have a car here yet.
"Hey." I say when I open the door and see her I'm mesmerized, she looks gorgeous in a red sundress with white polka dots on it and white flats.
"You look gorgeous." I tell her wishing I had flowers to give her.
"Did you want a coffee before we go? Buck just made some." I said as she gave me a weird look.
"Oh sorry I forgot he goes by Even here."
"Yeah I would love some." Sylvie said as she walked in. We get into the kitchen and there is Buck holding some flowers. "Sorry Eddie, I was hoping to catch you. You forgot these." He said, handing Sylvie the flowers.
"Their beautiful Eddie, you didn't have to do that." Sylvie says with a small blush on her checks that make her look even more gorgeous.
"So I have talked to Donna and asked what school districts would be good for Chris and I have a few houses we can look at today." Sylvie said as I handed her some coffee.
"Okay thank you, I really appreciate all your help." I tell her as we sit at the breakfast bar.
"I'm going to head out. I got a few errands to run before I go out with Jay tonight. You two have fun. Don't do anything I wouldn't do. " Buck says as he grabs his keys and heads out.
I shoot him a glare as he chuckles at me and Sylvie blushes again. God that blush is so cute.
We wave to him as we sip our coffee and Sylvie.
Once Buck leaves Sylvie says. "So i talked to a friend over at MED, who knows a retired nurse who does child care now, she's currently not watching anyone and Natalie, over at MED said Gail would be more than happy to watch Chris for you while you worked and help whenever you needed her to.'' Sylvie says, passing me a piece of paper with Gail's information on it.
"Thank you, this is great, I really appreciate all of your help." I tell her with a bright smile, she really is an angel..
"It's no big deal, I want to help." She says, returning my smile.
"I appreciate it nonetheless." I tell her
She smiles and blushes when she says "Shall we go to the first viewing?" I nod and say "sure."
We head down to her car and we drive towards the first viewing, "So, is Chris excited to move to a new city?" Sylvie asks casually.
"Yea, he was talking about going to sports games once he gets here." I say and she chuckles, "you'll have to take him to a cubs game when he gets here." She says and I nod, saying. "Maybe you could go with us." She smiles and says "I'd like that."
"So the first house is 15 minutes away from 51 and 10 minutes away from the school Chris would go to." Sylvie says as we pull in to a subdivision, with a park in the middle of the subdivision
"That's great, Isee there's a playground here to which is nice.'' I say as we pull into a small bungalow, it has gray siding and a paved driveway, with a big backyard.
"This is really
nice." I tell her as we get out of her car.
"I think so." She shrugs her shoulders.
We meet the realtor Ashley on the veranda
"Hi you must be Mr. and Mrs Diaz." The realtor says and Sylvie and I both blush and start stuttering. I end up saying. "We're not married."
"Oh Sorry, I just thought, sorry." She says and I smile and say. "It's okay." "So this is a three bedroom two bath bungalow, it also has a finished basement with a home gym that includes the equipment and a room you can have for a games room or anything you want. As well it has been updated to make it more accessible for those with mobility issues." The realtor says.
"Okay, what's the price?" I ask as we walk into the entryway.
She hands me a piece of paper with the price and it's really reasonable for what all the house has and for being in Chicago.
We look through the house and it's perfect. I don't have to look at any other house as this is the one so I say "I'll take it." Sylvie looks at me shocked and says. "This is only the first one you looked at?" She says shocked I've already made a decision.
"It has everything I could ever want so I'll take it." I tell the realtor who nods and hands me the paperwork to fill out and says "I'll get back to you with a closing date." I nod and say. "The faster the better." She nods.
"I just want to take a few pictures for Chris and Carla so he knows what his room looks like and that it's safe for him. I heard that Matt is a contractor. Do you think he could come over and have a look to see if there is anything else?" I asked. As this needs to be perfect for Chris as we left. "I'm sure he will love to help your family now." Sylvie replied as we got in the car.
"So we have a few hours till dinner. Do you wanna go do something?" I asked and she smiled and said. "Sure, Millennium park is having a music festival today. If you wanna go, you don't need tickets." She says and I nod. "That'll be nice." I say.
So we head to the park where the concert is being held.
We find a place on the grass and put down a blanket that Sylvie keeps in her trunk for such occasions.
It's jazz music being featured today so we listen and start talking.
"How long have you been with the CFD?" I asked , she smiled and said. "7 years but not long enough in my opinion."
"How long have you been at 51?" I asked. "7 years I started at 51 I replaced a paramedic that died in a warehouse arson fire, I was supposed to replace her as she was moving over to truck 81, but she died a week before I came." Sylvie explains.
"Wow, that must've been tough on 51." I say
"It was 3 years before Matt, Kelly, and Shay lost their best friend Andy Darden, it drove a wedge between Matt and Kelly apparently as they were just best friends back then. It nearly broke the whole house loosening someone like Gabby. It was also the day the Chief and Donna got married."
"Oh wow that must've been tough, I can't imagine losing someone like that, I lost my ex wife to a driver hitting her in a crosswalk, Buck-Evan I mean and us were the responding unit, that was pretty tough, but losing someone on the job, knowing that that could be you at any point in time, would be hard.'' I told Sylvie.
"Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't know that your ex wife died, I thought you guys were just split, that's Chris's mom right?" she asks and I nod.
"We did, she actually left when I came back from war. She couldn't deal with my wounds, PTSD and Chris. My family didn't help either. Wasn't a big fan of hers and let her know constantly." I told her just so she knew what she was getting into with me.
"Oh wow, that's terrible, I couldn't imagine leaving someone that I loved. After they went through something as bad as war, I would try to help them through it first, then if it was too bad , come to a decision together." she says
"That's good to know, I want you to know everything about me, my flaws and the good parts, because I really like you but I don't want you to enter anything with me without knowing the truth." I told her.
"I really like you too Eddie, and I don't think there'd be anything you could tell me to change that." She says leaning in a little closer to me, and I take the plunge and kiss her. She kisses me back, it's tender and sweet, she lets me control the kiss, she tastes like peppermint, her lips are soft like silk, it's the best first kiss I've ever had, and I don't want to ever stop being able to kiss her.
Evans POV:
After I run and grab more flowers for Jay as I gave his to Eddie for Sylvie, trying to help the man out in the love department as he needs the help, I race over to Kelly's in a panic.
I pull up to the big duplex that has Kelly and Matt on one side and Shay and Emma on the other, when my phone dings. I look at it and smile. It's Jay.
Jay: can't wait for tonight, dress in Cubs gear, we are going to a game.
Me: Okay, I can't wait for tonight either.

I got out of the new jeep that I went out and got this morning while I was running some errands.
I walk up to my brother's part of the duplex and knock.
Kelly answers and sees me
"I figured you'd be by today." He says as he enters the duplex and I run my hand through my hair.
"I'm a freaking mess, I need your help Jay wants to go to the Cubs game and I have no gear." I say walking in the duplex with Kelly laughing behind me.
"Of course you don't, come with me little brother." Kelly says, leading me to his and Matt's room.
I hear Matt playing with Andy and Lizzie in one of the rooms down the hall. It makes me think of Jay and his twins, and how good of a dad he must be.
"Okay, here's a jersey you can wear, and a ball cap." kelly says as he throws them at me, "Thanks kel, I appreciate it.'' I say, as I fidget with the ball cap he just threw at me, laughing when I realized the back of the jersey, says Severide. "Of course you would have our name on a jersey." I say chuckling.
"Look harder." Kel says I look again and see the number 9 on the back. Looking up I see my big brother with a stupid smile on his face. "Now you match," as he pulls matching jerseys from the draw with the number 3 and 81 "see it's a welcome back gift I was going to bring it to Molly's tonight but you have a date." Kelly joked.
"Thank you, I really appreciate this, I love it." I say
"You're still nervous, what's up?" He asks me, he knows me to damn good.
"Okay, I'm nervous because it's not just us anymore we have to think about his kids, we have so much to work through from our past, and honestly I Just want to pick up from the last good part of our relationship and go from there, I don't want to have to start over, its jay, I always thought we'd be dads together, and I thought we'd be further than we are and it's all my fault.'' I say with tears in my eyes.
"Oh, Evan, first off, you did what you had to do for you at the time. Also I get that you have to think about the twins, and I honestly think everything will be fine because it's you and Jay. You have so much history, and love for one another. Listen, there has been more than one night since jays been back that we have had heart to hearts about you and him, he is still madly in love with you Evan, I think if you tell Jay everything you just told me you'll find he feels the same." Kelly tells me and I nod knowing he's probably right. "Okay, thanks Kel. I appreciate everything, I gotta go and get ready but thank you." I say and he hugs me "I hope everything works out the way you want it to evan you deserve happiness just as much as the rest of us do." Kelly says as I hug him back.
"When did you become a softie?" I ask jokingly.
"Ehh, it just happened I guess about 5 years ago when Andy was born.'' Kelly says, running a hand through his hair.
I laugh and say "Yes I can see that." Then head down and out of the duplex, I jump in my jeep and head back to my place.
Jays POV:
I just finished getting ready for Evans and my date. I'm wearing dark jeans and a black T-shirt that says 'Home is where the field is' and a blue, red and whites Cubs baseball cap.
I swear I've changed five times, I'm so nervous, this is my first date since the twins were born and this is the first time I've been with Evan since I've been back from the army. I'm scared everythings going to be too much for him.
I finished packing Noah and Lexie's overnight bags for Kelly's. I'm so appreciative to him and Matt for looking after them for Evan and I to spend the night if we want together. If not then I get a night free of kids to wallow in whiskey, if things go badly.
I go and grab the twins, and tell them it's time to go see Andy and Lizzie, they scream with excitement and we head out. Once we arrive at Matt and Kelly's the twins run to the door, for two year olds they have perfect balance and are way too fast for their own good.
Once I know on the door and Kelly answers, and Lizzie is right behind him. "Come in guys." he tells us and the twins don't need to be told twice.
We chuckle as the kids go and start all talking at once, the twins' words are forming nicely which I'm thankful for.
"Thanks for doing this man, I appreciate it!" I tell kelly
"No problem, anything for you guys." Kelly says "Listen I shouldn't be saying this but I'll always have my baby brother's best interest at heart." I nod and say "I know that." and he continues with. "If you don't think you can forgive even or move forward with him don't lead him on, his heart can't take that, he loves you too much Jay." Kelly says as I run a hand through my hair and say "I know, and I already forgave him a long time ago, also I never led him on, and I love him with my whole heart, and I'm pretty sure I have since high school." I tell Kelly and he nods. "Good, now go tell my baby brother that, and I don't expect to see you till very late tomorrow morning.'' Kelly says and I blush but nod.
I go over to the twins and tell them "Okay guys, daddys going to go, and you guys will have a sleepover with Andy and Lizzie okay? I'll see you guys in the morning, daddy loves you both so much.'' I tell them as I kiss them both on the forehead.
"Love you dada, see you tomorrow." Lexie says giving me a big smacking kiss on my cheek, making me chuckle. "Love you daddy, bye bye." Noah says high fiving me and hugging me, then I get up and wave to them and leave.
I head out to my truck and drive over to Evan's new place.. On the way there I picked up flowers for him. I just want everything to be perfect for tonight..
Once I get to Evans, I park my truck, and jump out, I head up to the 5th floor and knock on apartment 515.
Evan answers in a cubs jersey with a white t-shirt under it. washed out blue jeans with ripped knees, a cubs cap and white sneakers, fuck he looks sexy as hell.
"You look amazing.'' I say as I hand him his flowers and he hands me mine and we both chuckle.
"Always the gentleman." I told him. "I could say the same about you Detective." he says and I chuckle "I try." "You look amazing too, by the way." he says and I smile, "Thanks." I say.
"Shall we go?" he asks
"Yea, we better go." I say, I take his hand after he locks up his apartment, then we head down to my truck.
"Nice truck." He says as we get in.
"Yeah it comes with the job." I tell him he nods, before I start the truck I lean over the console and kiss him tenderly, when we pull apart I say "Don't be nervous, it's us." I say sensing his nervousness.
"Okay." he says with a grin. I can tell he's more at ease now, so I start the truck and head out for Wrigley field.
"So did you take the twins to Kelly's?" Evan asks.
"Yea he offered to keep them for the night." I say with a grin that he returns.
"So, what are their names?" Evan asks.
"Alexis Catherine Evelyn Halstead and Noah William Henry Halstead." I say with a smile.
"You named Alexis after me?" Evan says with tears in his eyes.
"Of course, even after everything I could never let you go evan, you mean way too much to me." I tell him as I take his hand and kiss his knuckles.
"Jay, I could never let you go completely either, I have regretted every day since I ended things with you, I regret that decision more than anything in my life." Even says "Oh baby, I get it, it was too much on you and I understand that, you need to know I forgave you the second you did it." I tell Evan as we pull up to the packed stadium.
"You do?" He asks, shocked. "Of course." I tell him like it's no big deal.
"I love you Evan always and always will." I simply say and he reaches across the console of the truck and takes my face in his hands and says "I love you to Jay Halstead more than life itself, your my world." Then he kisses me. This kiss isn't as tender as the first one we shared today, it's full of need and passion and love.
When we pull apart I smile like a goof, and say "As much as i'd like to keep this going we have a game to go see." He's mirroring my smile and nods.
We head into the stadium hand in hand, this is the first date we have ever been on that we show PDA, as Evan had not come out last time we were together, I had, two years after I started dating Evan, but it took longer for evan to get comfortable with everything and I understood that.
Once we get to where our seats are, which are in the 1914 club thanks to having connections to someone that helps run the field. Evan is shocked when I lead him into club 1914. I lead him to the bar first so we can talk as we have an hour before the game starts.
"How did you ever afford this?" Evan asks and I chuckle. "It helps when I solve a case for someone that helps work the field." I say simply. Just as that said person walks over to us.
"Jay, glad you finally are making use of the season pass I gave you." Jill Woodson says
"Yes, well I finally have a reason to." I say looking at evan, who shyly smiles.
"Jill this is my boyfriend Evan Severide, Evan this is Jill Woodson, the unit solved a break-in at her place last year." I tell evan
"Nice to meet you, this place is amazing." Evan says and I chuckle as I run my thumb over his knuckles.
"Well I'm glad you two are enjoying the pass, now that I know you'll actually use it, I'll make it a permanent pass for every season, you can bring up to 15 people with you as I'll just reserve a suite for you guys, permanently." Jill says with a sweet smile.
"Oh wow, thanks Jill you don't have to do that though." I told her.
"It's no big deal, hope you enjoy the game." Jill says and then leaves.
"I can not believe that just happened." Evan says and I smile at him.
"Well we will have to bring everyone out for a game next time." I tell him and his smile is enough to light up the stadium.
"That would be amazing. Chris will love it and it won't be too crowded for him." Evan says as we each order a beer.
"Who's Chris?" I ask
"Eddie's 7 year old son, he has CP." Evan says and I nod
"Eddie is currently on a date with Sylvie, because he's straight Jay, I can see the green eyed monster, in your eyes you know." Evan says as he takes a sip of his beer.
"First off, you know me too well, secondly he's out with Brett? Good for her, after her messy fling with Antonio I didn't think she'd date for a while." I say
"Well they both seem pretty smitten with each other." Evan sasy.
"That's good, how does Chris's mom feel about them relocating to a new city?" I ask
"Shannon died last year, anyways that's a long messy story, after Eddie got back from the army Shannon had left, couldn't deal with Eddie's PTSD, Chris and their constant fighting." Even says
"Eddie was in the army?" I asked, shocked by that information.
"Yep army medic until Chris was 4 medical discharged." Evan says
"That be tough." I say, I couldn't imagine being in the war and being away from the twins.
"Yea, anyways we should probably talk about us while we have the chance." He says and I nod.
"We should, I want us to be together again, and honestly I just want to pick up from the happy us and go from there if you're willing to." I hope Evan wants the same.
"I want the same, I was terrified you wouldn't want that, that you wouldn't be able to forgive me." Evan says and I kiss his knuckles and tell him, "Nothing I couldn't forgive you for Evan, your my soulmate.'' I told him.
"I feel the same as Jay, you're my better half." he says with a light chuckle.
"I love you so much, it feels so easy being with you again, like I'm finding home." I told evan.
"I feel like i'm home when i'm with you Jay, always have, you've always been my safe place, my happy place, I love you Jay.'' Evan says, leaning in and kissing me lightly on the lips.
"So, I want you to meet the twins sooner rather than later, you three are everything to me." I tell him as we pull apart.
"Are you sure?" he asks "I want you to if you want to that is.'' I am nervous that he doesn't want to.
"No, no, I i want to I'm just trying to be considerate here, have they ever meet Erin, Kelly told me Erin Lindsay is their mom." Evan explains when I raise an eyebrow at Erin's name.
"Yeah, she was, no they never met her though, for the brief seconds after they were born and then she told the nurses she didn't want them, that was fun." I say running a hand through my hair "I don't consider her a mom and neither does Hank, he barely talks to her any more." I explained.
"I'm so sorry Jay, I wish I would've been there for you." Evan says, squeezing my hand.
"I know, baby, but you're here now that's all that matters." I say rubbing my thumb over his knuckles.
"Why did Erin not want the twins if you don't mind my asking?" Evan asks
I sigh, running my free hand through my hair.
"She was terrified of turning into Bunny when she found out she was pregnant, she turned cold, wouldn't let me in, she wanted to abort the pregnancy Hank and I talked her out of it, what nobody besides Hank and I and now you know is that Erin and I decided right from the moment she wanted to end the pregnancy that I'd take the twins, at the point we only thought it was one baby but at 10 weeks when we found out it was two, she freaked, she closed off from everyone, she was pissed at me so we officially ended our relationship we were trying to make it through the pregnancy at least, but we both knew it was coming to an end. She had gotten Hank to get her a job as far a way from Chicago as possible for when the twins were born, and after she was released from the hospital she left, without a goodbye to anyone, even Hank." I told him.
"Baby, I'm so, so sorry, I can't believe she'd do that, it's probably for the best that she doesn't have anything to do with the kids, but still not that easy." Evan says as I nod my head.
"Is there any way she can come back?" Evan asks and I shake my head 'no'
"Hank made sure it was a condition of her job with the FBI that if she ever tried to come back into our lives that she'd never work for the FBI or any law enforcement ever again, she cares too much about her job to jeopardize that." I say
"Well that's good that she can't come back or interfere in anyway." Evan says. "Does Hank have anything to do with the twins?" He asks
"Yea, he has one night a week with them, they call him grandpa, well Gwanpa." I say and Evan chuckles and the last part.
"That's good that he at least has something to do with them, what about your dad?" Evan asks and I say scrubbing a hand over my face.
"Pat Halstead the meanest and selfishest man alive" I tell Evan who winces, he knows how bad mine and my dad's relationship has been since my mom died while I was in the rangers.
"I'm sorry babe, I'm guessing that he has nothing to do with them or you?" He asks and I nod. "You'd be right, I cut ties with him after he told me I was making a mistake by taking the twins on my own." I told Evan. Just then the announcers announce the game is about to begin.
"We best get to our seats." I say and he nods.
"So I'm guessing Will is happy though that he has a niece and nephew?" Evan asks as we get to our seats
"Yeah he is, he actually got married to Connor Rhodes last year, they are in the process of adopting a 3 year old little girl." I told him.
"That's great, they were always good together." Evang says.
We start chatting about the game as it starts, by 5th inning the kiss cam lands on Evan and I and we kiss just a tender yet loving kiss.
He smiles at me after the kiss and I smile at him, he would've never done that 4 years ago.
"I love you." I simply say.
"I love you too." He told me.
Before we know it the game is over and the Cubs won!
We head out to my truck. It's getting dark and I say. "Wanna spend the night at my place?" He nods saying "I'd love nothing more than to spend the night with you." I smile and head back to my place.
Once we get to my apartment, and inside, he lips are on mine as soon as we are in the doorway.
He kisses me deep, trying to dominate the kiss but I win out, I pin him against the wall by the door, and he grinds into me making me feel how hard he is. Fuck, the way he affects me has always amazed me.
I growl into his ear saying. "I want you so bad right now." Between kisses "Then take me." he says simply, and I suck in a sharp breath, fuck, I just got harder then I thought possiable.
He grinds repeatedly into me. "Fuck, Ev you keep doing that I'm going to come in my pants, its been two years for me." I tell him, he pulls back and says. "You haven't been with anyone since the twins were born?" And I shake my head and kiss his neck, not wanting to think of my kids or anything but Even right now.
"Make love to me Jay." Evan pants and my head shoots up, we did a lot of things back when we're together but full on sex was never one of them.
"Are you sure, baby?" I ask and nod, "I want all of you." I growl and take him by the hand and lead him to my room. Once inside I shut the door, and push him onto the bed.
"I'm going to make sweet, sweet love to you baby." I whisper into his ear, he sucks in a sharp breath, then nips at my earlobe.
I shed both of your shirts, and that's when I saw it, my dog tags tattooed over Evan's heart, "When-how?" I start to stutter and he softly chuckles. "When you were on leave I took a picture of them and when I ended it with you I wasn't over you and I knew you'd always have my heart so I tattooed your dog tags over the place that you own." He explained and I had tears in my eyes.
"I can't believe you did that." I say tracing my fingers over evans left pec, tattooed there right over his heart is my tags that says 'Jay Halstead A Cathholic'
I'm so mesmerized by this, "I love you Jay always have." Evan says and starts kissing me again, making me remember what we were in the middle of. I undo his pants after we take off our shoes and socks.
I take him in my mouth after I kiss down to his member.
