Two days later Nick was at work. He called Becca into his office. He kissed her. She could tell something was on his mind.
"What?" She asked.
"Babe, I have to fire you."
"What?" She said shocked.
"I don't want to but I have to." "I'm going home to work it out with Mollie tonight." "I can't keep you here." "I'll keep paying you until you find another job."
"Are you breaking up with me?"
"No." "I love you."
"Why don't you just divorce her and move in with me?" "I would never cheat on you."
"I know but I can't do that."
Three hours later Mollie was making dinner. Allison was watching TV. The front door opened.
"Hello?" Nick said coming through the door.
"Daddy!" Allison said excitedly running over him.
He bent down. "Hey sweetie, come here." He kissed her cheek and hugged her.
"Are you coming home?"
"Um, I might." "I have to see." "What's mommy making for dinner?"
"Cheeseburgers."
"Yummy, daddy loves cheeseburgers." "Do you want to play something with daddy?"
"Yeah."
"Ok." "Is mommy in the kitchen?"
"Yeah."
"Go pick a game." "Daddy will be right there." "I want to go say hi to mommy."
"Ok."
Nick went into the kitchen. Mollie was getting the cheese out of the fridge.
"Hi." He said.
"Hi."
"Can we talk later?"
"Yeah."
"I'm gonna go play with Allison."
"Ok."
Later that night Nick had just put Allison to bed. Mollie was on the couch. He sat down next to her.
"What happened to your lip?" She asked.
"Randy hit me."
"Why?"
"I don't know." "I was just trying to talk to him and he hit me."
"Do you expect me to believe that you were innocent in all of it?"
"We were having some heated words but I wasn't expecting him to hit me." "I fired Becca."
"You did?"
"Yeah." "Can I come home, please?"
"You're the one that left."
"I know but I know you're mad at me, rightfully so."
"You're not mad at me anymore?"
"I'm still hurt but I'm not mad, at you." "I'm still mad at Randy." "I know Randy coaxed you into it." "I made a huge mistake with Becca." "I love you Mollie."
"What about the baby?"
"I love the baby." "We're still related."
"You can come home."
"Come here." They kissed. "I love you."
"I love you too."
